The Flower Factory needed a mobile app to support their in-store rewards program, provides insights into featured products linked to our website, and allow for further development of the app in the future.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Having worked with Sunrise Integration for over 5 years on various web development projects, it was an easy decision to select them once again to develop our mobile app.

We needed an app (Apple iOS, iPad and Android) to allow customers to earn reward points, redeem reward codes, track rewards and provide insights into featured products on our website. Furthermore we needed a portal where customers and store staff can manage rewards and redeem codes. When the customer isn't in the store, they can use the accompanying mobile app to access their rewards and loyalty codes. The development team used the React Native library. React Native allowed the team to speed up development time. The core mobile development used React Native while the kiosk portal uses React.js components.

The mobile app and kiosk are cloud-enabled and communicate in real-time with AWS for a powerful back-end service. The back-end of the mobile app was just as important. A phone on its own is limited, we needed a back-end system to power the app. A cloud back-end opens up the data exchange and allows for global communication. We used a multi-region AWS configuration to ensure the app could handle customer traffic quickly and gives us the ability to implement future enhancement to the app.

Our app has just launched and we have received very positive feedback from our team, and customers.

Throughout the project, Sunrise demonstrated attentive service, enthusiasm and communication, providing outside-the-box thinking, and creativity. The team goes above and beyond to ensure customer satisfaction.

There was nothing Sunrise couldn't resolve with the best attitude.

They’re a great team to work with, and quite honestly can only improve by by doing more of the same excellent work.

I’m the SVP of e-commerce and technology for an e-commerce apparel distribution company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Sunrise Integration?

We needed help building an app that would allow us to distribute graphic apparel on Shopify stores.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started the e-commerce development project with a discovery call where we listed all our requirements. They came up with the statement of work and once that was approved, they started completely designing and building the platform from scratch.

Our main goal for the project was to gain the ability to import licensed products from the catalog so that store owners can publish those products on their own Shopify stores. After an order is made, we print, ship, and fulfill the licensed content directly to the store owners.

We worked with a project manager, CTO, and several software developers.

How did you come to work with Sunrise Integration?

We were connected through a mutual contact who highly recommended them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from May–August 2022.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’re in the middle of beta testing, but the platform is already Shopify certified, so the partnership was a success.

There wasn’t an issue that they didn’t immediately fix.

How did Sunrise Integration perform from a project management standpoint?

The communication was great and we hit all of our deadlines, so I’m definitely happy with their performance from a project management standpoint.

We had open communication with them on Slack, email, and ZOOM.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We were impressed with their Shopify development experience, clear communications, and ability to deliver on their promises.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything they need to improve on because the partnership went as smoothly as I expected — they did everything we asked of them.

I'm the VP of client relations at XanderPay, a travel technology company that pays hotels through their website or travel agencies.

What challenge were you trying to address with Sunrise Integration?

We needed help developing an API that submits payments to the hotels' bank accounts or property. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Sunrise Integration has designed and developed an API that processes our batch payments. Whenever I submit payments to each hotel property, we need to extract specific pieces of information from each financial report that gets sent to us weekly. Sunrise Integration has been able to extract certain pieces of information from each report and consolidate them into an Excel spreadsheet.

The spreadsheet highlights the amount that needs to be paid, the name of the hotel and its identifier, and the number associated with our payout partner. Once we have that spreadsheet, it's uploaded to our payout partner. That partner then pays out to each hotel based on the information we've extracted from our portal. 

We've also completed a second project with Sunrise Integration: creating enrollment forms to make it easier to receive banking information. The three-part enrollment form is for hotels to fill out and agree to our terms and conditions. It is easier to upload that information through the software instead of having each hotel contact me individually.

Once the information is uploaded, the software creates a spreadsheet with a simplified version of each hotel and the corresponding banking information I need. I can then take that information and upload it into our payout portal. 

For each API, Sunrise Integration provides hosting and maintenance services. 

What is the team composition?

At the beginning of the first project, about four teammates were working with us, including the project coordinator. As the partnership has progressed, we've begun working with fewer teammates because there hasn't been as much work.

How did you come to work with Sunrise Integration?

Sunrise Integration was referred to me by a friend. 

How much have you invested with them?

We've spent close to $80,000. Sunrise Integration charges us a monthly fee for hosting.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around July 2020, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

The APIs processes are very cut and dry — we just need them to work. I've been able to submit many payments within 15 minutes, but before having the portal, it would take about two and a half hours. That's only taking into consideration paying out 15 hotels. If we were talking about 5,000 hotels, there's no way a single person could make all the payments in one day. However, I know the API could do it in 30 minutes. 

How did Sunrise Integration perform from a project management standpoint?

During the development phases, our budget changed a lot because new aspects kept coming up. While the project didn't stay within budget, it was because we kept making changes, not because of anything Sunrise Integration did. Similarly, we ended up passing our deadline, but that is because we were making so many changes. We reassessed the project several times, but everything was delivered and worked out well. Sunrise Integration's project manager handled the project and communicated with us through Zoom calls and email. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I haven't worked with many competitors, but if I was ever to work with another technology partner, I'd want them to continue the work ethic of Sunrise Integration. Any team that can't match their work ethic can't be as impressive as Sunrise Integration. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I have nothing for them to improve; everything has worked seamlessly. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I'd suggest staying in close contact with the project manager and ensuring you have communication and rapport with them. The project manager can singlehandedly keep projects moving.

We implemented Shopify due to its ease of use but quickly ran into limitations with what we could do out-of-the-box in order to create the customer experience we wanted. Our goal was to customize Shopify to work with our meal subscription service.

We found this vendor after searching for partners we thought could be a good fit and had extensive experience in Shopify. Sunrise proved to be our top choice after working with a couple vendors and seeing how the quality of work and communication far exceeded the other vendor.

We had in-depth period of project scope, followed by iterations to arrive at a final document for work to be implemented. Project manager was very communicative throughout the process and ensured we were apprised of work being done and knew what was pending on our end. Once project work commenced we had several ad-hoc meetings as well as weekly meetings. Ultimately they delivered a customized Shopify theme as well as custom scripting.

We had around 6 individuals actively working with us including the CTO, Project manager, and developers.

We launched our site everything functioned smoothly. Any hiccups were quickly resolved which ensured a great customer experience.

Project manager was very communicative throughout the process and ensured we were apprised of work being done and knew what was pending on our end. Once project work commenced we had several ad-hoc meetings as well as weekly meetings. We received weekly PDFs outlining project status and deliverables.

We noticed that their communication style was very unique. They are extremely transparent about the specific tasks they are working on, where they are spending their time, and communication that steadily to us as the client.

One point of feedback could be revising project hours estimates part-way through projects to adjust for complexity or scope.

What challenge were you trying to address with Sunrise Integration?

We hired Sunrise Integration to do an integration between WordPress, Shopify, and a unique code generation app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Sunrise Integration took our WordPress website and integrated it into Shopify so that we could sell our software online. The hardest part of this project was integrating our serial code generation app.

When a customer downloaded our software, we generated a serial code to unlock the software. This process was sitting on a separate server, but Sunrise Integration integrated it into our site. After that, Shopify notified the serial code generation app when a purchase was made, and the code generation app sent the email with the code to our customer.

What is the team composition?

We worked with about five people from Sunrise Integration, including the CEO, an account manager, and three different engineers.

How did you come to work with Sunrise Integration?

I can’t remember how I found them, but I believe it was through an internet search. We never hire a vendor without meeting them in person so that I can get a feel of their expertise. I remember that Sunrise Integration was very confident, had a great attitude, and took pride in their work.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around three years ago, in 2018. We completed our last project together around July 2021, when we retired our software and made it free for download.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Ultimately, the integration worked well. Our clients could make purchases, download the software, and receive the serial code; that was the measure of success.

How did Sunrise Integration perform from a project management standpoint?

Sunrise Integration’s project management was excellent, and they were one of the best companies I worked with. They were always on time and communicated well, and they were a pleasure to work with. We communicated via email and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Sunrise Integration’s attitude and confidence distinguished them from other providers. On top of that, they knew the technologies that we didn’t. They were great with PHP and all the other internet technologies, and they knew internet-based servers very well.

No. I couldn’t have asked for more.

Define the deliverables clearly. As long as you have good communication, you’ll be fine.

We were in the process of launching a new website on a new platform (Shopify) and needed software to act as the middleware between our eCommerce store and our ERP. We had many technical requirements for the format in which our orders were transferred into our ERP, as well as for how tracking numbers and information were received back by the eCommerce platform.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We selected Sunrise for their clear understanding and experience of SAP, our ERP platform. They also displayed a thorough approach to planning and implementation.

We started by mapping out all requirements, as well as looking at the old infrastructure to understand what elements could remain and what elements would need to be changed. From there, a project timeline with clear milestones was laid out.

The Sunrise team worked in sprints, meeting with us every other week to go over progress and ensure we stayed on schedule. The Sunrise Team also assisted with thorough testing and QA efforts, making any necessary changes.

Our main point of contact, Stephanie, was the Project Manager who coordinated all meetings and communication. Alex was our lead developer...he had an answer for everything! Eduardo is another developer on their team who we have worked with for training and troubleshooting purposes.

We were able to launch on schedule. In addition, Sunrise has continued to help us make improvements to our internal processes post-launch.

Sunrise was able to work with our ERP consultant to solve pretty much any curveball we through in their direction. They found innovative solutions to pain points we've struggled with for years.

This past year, healthcare requirements changed, so we updated the entire website to be ADA compliant. We also changed our scheduling software, and updated the website to reflect that.
