Softengi managed the project well, staying within budget and adhering to timelines. The team consistently communicated estimates with the client. The client suggested that Softengi work in development or staging environments instead of production to ensure the product meets expectations. This review is an update by the client company. Design: We worked with the design personnel to establish the UI and UX of the Payout feature that we wanted developed. She is very versed and well knowledgeable with her craft. She provided the necessary information to achieve a successful outcome before we moved to development. She was also available during the development and UAT phase.
Develop: The PM and the developers worked within the timeline and estimates as planned.
What's the status of this engagement?
Completed.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
How did your relationship with your partner evolve?
In comparison to the previous relationship, the cost and time estimates was managed and not exploited. Instead, we were given a Min - Max cost with the goal to not surprise us with additional cost. The team worked to keep within the timeline range and we were informed. The team managed to stay within the estimate without additional surprise costs, as they previously would.
In what ways can they improve?
The team did not want to stage the newly developed feature in our dev environment and wanted to directly deploy to the prod environment. Also, some important aspects of the Payout feature was not functioning after deploying to production. Developed features should always be staged in the demo or dev environment and internal testing should always be performed to ensure the tasks meet the specification/acceptance criteria. Internal testing should also always be done after deploying to production to ensure the newly developed feature was properly deployed and is functioning accurately while Live before client's validation.
What advice do you have for clients with similar needs to yours?
Always make sure you complete design phase before moving to development.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Milestones and deliverables.
Describe their project management. Did they deliver items on time? How did they respond to your needs?
We have been working with Softengi on 3 of our projects. The building of our App which was the first project went smoothly and successfully because we had a wonderful Product Owner/Business Analyst, Mikhailo who was a great liaison between our Business and the Dev team. Our experience with his work ethics encouraged us to continue our working relationship with Softengi.
Unfortunately, with our second project (E-commerce platform), a different team was moved in and Mikhailo was moved to another department. The Project Manager, Denis remained the same and he has become our major nightmare. We have had numerous disagreements and arguments about estimates, timeline and deliverables. He never holds the dev team responsible for jobs poorly done. Instead of holding himself or the team accountable, he blames the Client and comes back to bill the Client with claims that they underestimated. They are always billing above the estimates and many times give bloated estimates that are unwarranted. He resorts to manipulative tactics. He is very disgruntled about making sure scope requirements are clear and properly defined, making sure there is proper documentation, peer review, quality control etc basically, things that are normal standard practice. Denis and his team deliberately withhold necessary information that we need to know; they give us white lies or half truths and cover up important information so as to cover up for the team and also have room for more milking. All these have been very stressful for us as a company and we are exhausted after numerous incidences.
We have reached out to the higher ups but unfortunately, they do nothing about things. All Softengi cares about is making as much money as possible at the expense of delivering properly developed and fully working deliverables to the Client.
For our 3rd project (warehouse fulfillment center) which is also at Softengi but with another department, we already completed the Discovery Phase and it is pending Development. We are not sure how this is going to go since we had a very bad experience developing project 2.
A company is only as good as its employees. If you are considering using Softengi, I recommend you think twice. You can probably request for certain personnel but I doubt it will be granted since people like Denis is a director at Softengi and the higher ups don’t really care.
They never hold their staff responsible. Higher ups are unresponsive and are always looking for ways they can make money from your complaints. The developers don't build the features properly and lacks proper QA test which as a result features are bug-filled. Bugs are often treated as new tasks that you have to pay for.
What was your primary form of communication with Softengi?
- Virtual Meeting
- Email or Messaging App
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
N/A
Are there any areas for improvement or something Softengi could have done differently?
Improve project management approach. They should improve their whole approach of how they arrive at their estimates, improve their QA approach, adequately define scope and requirements, hold their staff accountable and take responsibility for projects poorly delivered instead of just focusing on how much money they want to make.
STAR RATINGS

Schedule: 0.5 They always look for every opportunity to stretch and milk the project
Willing to refer: 0.5 No Founder, whether technical or non-technical should have to experience this nightmare.
