Frio, in order to extend our existing iOS app functionality to Android users, approached SMT to port our existing iOS app to React Native, enabling a unified codebase to target both Android and iOS platforms.

The primary challenge in this project was integrating a critical third-party SDK into the new React Native environment. The SDK, essential for communication between the app and Frio's smart controllers, lacked an existing React Native bridge, making direct integration impossible with out-of-the-box solutions. To address the SDK integration challenge, SMT developed a custom React Native bridge, allowing seamless interaction between the JavaScript code and the native SDK. This advanced integration ensured that all the necessary native functionalities were accessible within the new React Native app, without compromising performance or reliability.

SMT delivered the React Native on time and within budget while meeting Frio's requirement of 100% unit test coverage.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Success of the project was demonstrated by completion of the following outcomes:

• Completion of all user stories: All requirments provided by Frio were tracked from inception to completion in JIRA. End-to-end testing was completed by SMT's QA team prior to final user acceptance testing by Frio.
• Observability: SMT added a Sentry integration to the project for improved observability and crash detection.
• 100% test coverage: Complete unit test coverage was added using Jest, ensuring a bug-free codebase.

In order to manage the project, SMT assigned a project manager to Frio. They were responsible for managing all work in JIRA, running weekly check-in meetings on Zoom, and serving as a primary point of contact between Frio and SMT. Technical communications were handled directly between our two engineering teams over Slack.

The project was completed on time and within budget.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Technical expertise and professialism. Everyone at SMT Solutions seemed to have deep full stack experience, allowing quick and easy decision making on complex technical questions. Once an implementation is selected, their engineering and QA teams do a great job of ensuring that all user acceptance criteria are met prior to releasing a feature for acceptance testing.

SMT delivered our initial project and has done 3 rounds of updates beyond what is listed below. They have also maintained the webapp:

• Youth-Facing Web UI: software developed in React and compatible with Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge,and Apple Safari web browsers on their latest and latest minus 1 versions.
• Admin Portal Web UI: software developed in React and compatible with Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Apple Safari web browsers on their latest and latest minus 1 versions.
• Back-end Services: software written in NodeJS and compatible with Docker and hosted in Heroku.
• Source code and documentationof all assets delivered to source code management solution of PT’s choice.

Within the portal, they delivered the ability for our admin and users to:

SMT delivered all elements outlined in the scope of work (shared previously) within the timeline that was set.

SMT excelled in project management. They delivered items on time and were very responsive to our needs. They were highly commuicative and asked essential questions that helped develop a better product. I received weekly updates in a virtual call with the entire team and was able to see the progress of the project online. They were also available via Slack for questions during development and after the project was launched.

SMT provided a mobile software as an interface between information collected by beacons that inform the location of patients and devices in the hospital enviroment. In addition to maps indicating the locations, it provides dashbords that show productivity indicators.

As a proof of concept, SMT offered a useful software that could enabe tests with the thecnology and demonstrates its utility.
