We hired Smitiv to build us and app for both IOS and Android as we found the majority of travellers didn't want to bookmark and save content based websites but instead preferred the ease of use of a multi functional app which they could use for all their travel needs to a particular destination.

We received 2 apps that exceeded our expectation and fully fitted the need for our audience. We have since iterated on these and continue to see lots of success from having a fully functioning app rather than just relying on a website.

We used Google meet and Trello which were really useful given we already use those heavily within our business.

Raj - he gave me lots of confidence that he was a man of integrity who would not only get the job done but do it with lots of passion and enthusiasm.

The only thing was the time difference witj Singapore being 8 hours ahead. This can't be helped and we soon began to adjust knowing that when we signed things off in the evening, it would be ready for us in the morning, the following day.

I'm the owner of a company that makes the culinary world accessible to everyone by providing them with recipes and/or products. At the same time, we work with certain brands to market their food related products to a specific group.

Our website was in need of a complete redesign as it was quite outdated. We started the project with other developers, but in the middle of the process we ran across problems with the scalability of the website. We decided to look for someone that would be able to provide us with a solution. That is how we ended up with Smitiv.

They helped and are still helping us in acquiring the goal of a fast and scalable website that includes many added functionalities.

We made the switch from our previous developers, because they did not have the knowledge and skills to provide the solution to the scalability issues. Smitiv was referred to us by an advertising partner. After interviewing them, they were able to fix issues that other developers weren't capable off within the timeframe they proposed.

They convinced us by the plan they put forward that was based on experience with similar projects.

During our first meeting we made clear that the first and most important goal was to go live with the redesigned website. Smitiv found out that the cause of the issue was the GraphQL plugin that was in dire need of customization. As a result their developers built the GraphQL from scratch by using NodeJS.

After launching our new website, we saw its speed increase by approximately 60% and our visitors appreciated all the new functionalities that were added.

There were multiple options when it came to communication. Our intention was to make it as direct as possible. Since Whatsapp had our preference, we chose to communicate with the developers and project manager through it. For goals and deliverables Trello was used.

Their straightforwardness and openness have been impressive throughout the workflow. They were honest from the start and they did not overpromise things. It was made quite clear what was and was not possible within a certain timeframe.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Perhaps we focused too much on scalability and speed. Because of this we did not give other things the attention they needed.

I’m the co-founder and CIO of Wisdom Tech Solutions, and we have a product called BeWise. Our directory services are centered around curriculum and after-school activities, and we cater to students ages 4–15. We launched this service in Bangalore, and we hope to expand to other cities, as well as the international market.

We needed someone to design and develop our mobile app.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re our primary IT partners, and they helped us with the design and development of our mobile app. In addition to being our tech providers, they help us with the whole design of the business model as well. We initially discussed our growth plans for the next five years, and how our architecture was going to support us in our international expansion. 

We had an initial beta launch in July 2020, then went back to the drawing board since we had quite a few requirements to be completed. The user feedback worked very well for us, so we changed a lot of the look and feel of the app. Version two of the project will include a mobile app and a CRM solution, as there’s a wider scope we’re also planning for.

We have one of our leads coordinating with them throughout the whole project and currently, we have two of their resources working for us full-time. Their team also provides us with their maintenance and support services.

I had a client who was a good friend of theirs, and she introduced me to them after I shared my idea with her. They had a small and young team in the region that was currently focused on Bangalore, and we found their thought process excellent.

What’s good about this whole partnership is they not only come across as tech-savvy, but they also take the initiative to understand our business. Their ideas are never limited to the technologies they use to support us, and they have a very focused approach.

They could be a little better with project management and be more attentive to my requests at any time of the day. Although their growth is understandable as they’re still trying to build their leadership team.

Project management was a bit of a challenge, but it didn’t impact our project much. They’re currently doing their best to address this area of improvement.

It was already impressive but they had a bigger expectations than us.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Smitiv Mobiles Technologies Pte Ltd developed a digital platform for our customers from scratch — It’s available for iOS and Android. It’s a CMS solution to get all the work done within the website itself. They also built our mobile app that allows our customers to sign in,  make bookings, and edit their profiles. Users can also add their vehicles and make payments through the app.

The app also enables users to get in contact with us to pick up their cars. On our end, we can put in loyalty programs, coupons, and rewards for customers to capitalize on. We can also edit different services, prices, and scope of work available for each service.

I worked with a project manager, a designer, a web developer, and their director.

We spent $120,000 with them on this project.

We worked together from November 2020–March 2021.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Once the prototype demo was out, we could do a couple of corrections to our platforms, and the product looked complete after development and QA. The experience was quite good overall because we’re still holding the app for our users.

Project management was excellent. We used Trello and Slack as communication tools.

They customized everything, which was impressive. They were able to do a lot of our integration with their custom code.

They can improve communication-wise. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Singapore was on and off with the lockdown, and we made several calls instead of face-to-face meetings.

We hired Smitiv to build a global online marketplace. We had a small startup budget but an international UX and premium UI vision.

Smitiv was recommended by another Singapore startup, a respected media platform.

We had a kickoff meeting to discuss our vision, goals and objectives. LOOQAL was to be built on WooCommerce. We exchanged wireframes and the team then sourced WC themes closest to our needs- we went through 3 rounds of redefinitions to decide on the most suitable theme and the customisation work that was needed. As we had a certain premium aesthetic for the site design in mind, the Smitiv team did their best to customise accordingly.

One of the biggest design change was on the Homepage- we wanted a slider as a main banner, changed the layout to article format from the original marketplace design. On the inner pages, we redesigned the type of, and the way, attributes were presented.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Feedback on UX is normal (as expected, nothing exceptional) however, everyone loves how the site looks. It definitely projects the premium fashion, beauty and lifestyle status that we wanted.

There were regular update and working meetings via zoom. Progress was tracked on a shared project status sheet on Google drive. Conversations were archived on Whatsapp group chat.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

"The team was responsive and depended on to deliver what they had promised. In instances where the deliverable is not as promised, to the best solution there is.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There were times where the development team did not want to reject the request, nor tell us that it's not the best idea. In hindsight, and on the contrary, the team should be confident enough to reject the client's request, presenting their reasons for doing so, and offer another solution which is more time efficient and would be an acceptable compromise for the client anyway.

Having said that, there would definitely be more efficiency all round if every member of the project team has good knowledge of the tools and systems deployed.

We were first shown a product demo of what we can be expecting of the product, then we were also shown different templates of how the website would turn out. We were also not rushed for the whole session and the sales person, Ben, was very patient in explaining the whole process to us. Upon project completion, we were also shown step by step on how to fully utilise the software.

Integrating our business process to online has led to a new source of income for the business. This has resulted in higher revenue for the company. Having NFTs to be used as coupon code also helps us to allow a different market of people to purchase our devices.

They gave us a professional site that is easy to manage. We had never before worked with WordPress so they took the time to teach us how to update the content ourselves.

When we first launched, there were some minor errors on contents and the contact form. We prompt the issue and they were quick to rectify the matter.
