We partnered with Show + Tell, a branding & digital agency in Leeds, to develop our existing branding to define our visual language, brand styles and use of colour digitally with the aim of accelerating our company's growth and position the brand to reflect who we are today and where we’re headed in the future.

The scope included:

Branding: Refreshing our visual identity to capture the company's innovative AI First approach
UX Design: Planning key user journeys and content structure hierarchy

The Stray Ferret project was complex and some of the functionality we required was new to them - particularly the introduction of subscription.  

The project took longer than anticipated but was successfully launched. We staggered the launch so the new site was introduced smoothly before the paywall was implemented.   

S+Ts project management was thorough and they were always responsive to issues that arose. IT had its stressful moments but i feel they really worked very hard to hit the brief and contributed ideas and solutions to problems. 

Their design team is excellent, and their developers are experienced. The more challenging part of the project was developing and introducing the paywall. Like all good companies, though, they sought to find solutions as quickly as possible to the issues we experienced post-launch.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

To have a CMS platform that allowed our team easily edit site content and create pages without the assistance of a developer. To see an uplift in job applications from the website.

From appointment, initial meetings, planning and communication was good. We had a change in PM midway through the project, but on the whole it was a smoothly handled project with good communication throughout.

With this change in personnel, naturally a few details or comms were missed along the way, with some development work not being fixed according to and within the original scope. This resulted in some delays in post live bug fixes however we are now satisfied with the approach agreed going forward.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their enthusiasm and professional approach to the project were good. They had clear development milestones and processes in place to the build. We also felt their flexibility towards a development only project was good, given they were working off pre-existing designs.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Impression Studio could have done differently?

The site was worked on by multiple developers, meaning that there were elements of the build which were not consistent throughout the whole site. The QA process wasn't the smoothest, as we were invited to start logging bugs or amendments before the pages were completed and internally QA'd by Impression.

It felt like the QA could've benefitted with a lead developer, who oversaw the site build to identify these inconsistencies and ensuring the build was to design specifications, before we were invited to feedback via BugHerd.

We also had to spend quite a bit of time checking fixes and flagging when these hadn't been totally resolved as per our original requests, which resulted in some delays and some miscommunication around what was outstanding from the original scope and what was classed as a 'new' request.

Design expertise - the Impression team built two websites which were original, user friendly and communicated the brands' personality.

KAL can be difficult in providing clear feedback during a project. To overcome this, it's important ask lots and lots of questions throughout the whole build, to ensure everyone is on the same page and Impression has all the answers it needs to complete a project. KAL needs communication at every stage of the project!

For what projects/services did your company hire Impression Studio, and what were your goals?

Our website didn't work very well and our branding was outdated. We hired Impression to help us with rebranding and designing a new website. We have since started working with them on wider digital marketing projects. Our aim was to create a more modern and relevant brand for our industry, increase traffic to our website and ultimately generate revenue through increased enquiries.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We had previously worked with Impression on small projects and decided to start the bigger project of rebranding and creating a new website with them as they are a great team who understand our business.

I'm not sure who it was at the start. But we currently have a project manager, Beth, who looks after us day to day and involves the relevant designers and developers when needed. We also work closely with Daniel and his team on SEO and wider marketing projects

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have a modern brand and a modern website which has made us more relevant in the marketplace and attracted more visitors to our website (not sure on actual stats). Our property search and online auctions operate smoothly which is a crucial part of keeping our clients happy.

We have scheduled meetings every two weeks with Impression, but chat whenever we need to. We use Asana to manage the projects which helps keep everything in one place and allows us to keep up to date with our different projects. They're always super friendly and easy to work with.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We've seen Impression evolve massively over the years, which is exactly what an agency like that needs to do. They rarely ever sit still. We love our website, the ongoing support and expertise we get, and what a lovely bunch they all are.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

At times communication/speed of response has been an issue, but things are often resolved at the point when they are raised. No issues currently!
