One of my largest clients in the festival space was facing a critical challenge: we didn’t have a cashless solution that met their operational needs. This is particularly important in this industry, where event organizers need a seamless way for attendees to load funds and pay without cash, typically through wristbands or cards using QR codes or NFC.

On top of that, the current gift card system created significant operational friction. The process is entirely manual: for example, to create 100 gift cards, the team has to generate them one by one, receive 100 separate emails, open each one, extract the QR code, and then manually compile an Excel file to manage them. This workflow is not only inefficient but also not scalable for large-scale events like festivals.

Thanks to Seed, we were able to turn this situation around. By leveraging Square’s gift card open APIs, they built a fully customized solution tailored to this client’s needs. This solution enables much more efficient generation and management of gift cards, effectively allowing them to be used as a cashless system: attendees can top up their balance and use their QR codes to pay throughout the event.

The outcome has been very positive. The client is actively using the solution, their operations have significantly improved, and they are very satisfied with the flexibility it provides.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project delivered clear and measurable improvements in both operational efficiency and client satisfaction.

First, it significantly reduced manual workload. What previously required creating and managing gift cards one by one (including handling hundreds of emails and manually compiling QR codes) was streamlined into a much more scalable and automated process. This saved considerable time and reduced the risk of human error.

Second, it enabled the client to successfully implement a functional cashless workflow. Attendees are now able to top up balances and use QR codes to pay during the event, which was not possible before. This directly improved the on-site payment experience and operational flow.

Third, adoption has been strong. The client is actively using the solution in real scenarios, demonstrating that it meets their needs and integrates well into their operations.

Finally, client satisfaction has notably increased. The client has expressed strong positive feedback, particularly around the flexibility and customization enabled by the solution built with Square’s gift card APIs.

Seeed helped us migrate from WooCommerce to BigCommerce. They also helped us migrate hundreds of thousands of orders in that process. The entire process involved a lot of heavy lifting and database mapping, which they did an impeccable job of.

I still have Seeed on a maintenance contract, so we still work together on an as-needed basis.

I’ve worked with six people from Seeed, including developers, the owner, and a project manager. The developers were responsible for different things: one is responsible for the subscription service that they've developed, another has intimate knowledge of the WordPress WooCommerce platform, and another has big commerce platform experience.

I was introduced to Roland (Owner) many years ago — we met at the Internet Retail conference in Chicago. We had a great conversation, and we both saw an opportunity for collaboration.

I've seen a significant improvement in our platform's speed and ease of use, which effectively streamlined all our internal processes and solved the main issue that I had with the previous platforms that I was on. Seeed has also done a great job of making everything as simple as possible for our customers and us.

Seeed has performed well in terms of project management. They’re excellent at meeting deadlines and managing our expectations. Any time I need anything at all from Seeed, I've got instant communication with their whole team via Slack. I just need to drop things into Slack, and the appropriate person will hop on to help me, whether it's related to the e-commerce platform or it's related to a server issue, a subscription issue, or a checkout issue.

Overall, what I've experienced from Seeed is that they are at my service, and that's how they treat all their clients, from what I’ve experienced.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Seeed’s timing and ability to address issues as they come up are impeccable. I also appreciate the many different ideas from the Seeed team that I didn’t even know were possible — they opened my eyes to so much more possibilities and helped me find the best possible scenarios for my sites.

For example, we could have gone with other platforms, but the BigCommerce platform seemed to suit our needs better than any other one out there. Seeed's assessment brought that to light, and I can already see the pitfalls of the other platforms that they had suggested I avoid.
