While my experience with Savage Global Marketing was overwhelmingly positive, there were a few areas where I believe they could have made some improvements or taken slightly different approaches: 

1. Enhanced Mid-Project Check-ins: Although communication was excellent overall, having more frequent mid-project check-ins could have further strengthened our collaboration. These check-ins would provide opportunities to discuss progress, address any emerging concerns, and ensure alignment with evolving business priorities. 
2. Deeper Initial Onboarding: While they demonstrated a thorough understanding of our business, a more extensive onboarding process at the beginning could have helped them gather even more nuanced insights. This would have further refined the strategies to match our unique requirements. 
3. Expanded Training Resources: While they were always available to address questions and provide guidance, having an expanded set of training resources could have helped our team better utilize certain advanced features and tools they introduced.

I selected Savage based on my satisfaction with the results of the services provided by a previous company I was associated with.

The video called for the encapsulation of a draft-type process, where a parody of the NFL draft or college signing day was to be enacted. Still, it was being applied to a traditional college student. Savage and their team helped develop a script for the scenes and locations for the shoot and provided the cast direction when shooting the scenes.

I started working with Mr. Chris Savage before connecting with the project's production team led by Andrew and his crew. The feedback guidance at each stage was spot on, and it helped the Routree team articulate and realize the vision of the ad spot.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The primary outcome I can share is our overall satisfaction with the results of the project. For a first-time shoot, I think the Savage team really helped us through and delivered exactly what we wanted.

The style, I would say, is hands-on; communication through emails, text messages, and direct teams meetings was constructive and allowed us to work within our established timeline.

They were hands-on and willing to work with us and get us through a project like this, as it was our first time.

Not for me in this project; I was impressed with the process and service, and I am very happy with the results.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Despite promising to scale our ds profitably, over the 4-5 months we worked together our budgets fell to less than 30 percent of where we started and we went from consistently generating a roas of 2.2x and higher to generating a ROAS of 0.1x in the last month of our work together. On average they never reached any ROAS above 1x, indeed over the period the average was more like 0.5x, eg they only burned our cash for us, all while telling us that all is going well and ads are doing very well.

When we questioned how 0.1x roas can be considered good, the reply was that most of their clients make no sales at all as a result of their management, at which point we decided to cut and run. For reference, we hired one of their competitors immediately after firing them and within the first week, they managed to generate a roas of 2.4x at a higher budget than savage had ever managed to achieve. I strongly recommend staying away from this company.

They will promise the world and then deliver less than nothing. We have worked with several of their competitors all of whom have performed substantially better than this. No one else has ever dared say that generating less than 1x was anything other than catastrophically bad, and everyone else always managed to get us to 2x at least.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Great - team communicates well and efficiently which is why we stayed as long as we did.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Great sales team.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Actually, learn their craft and stop burning their clients' money while taking more money to do so. I can literally do a better job than this myself in my sleep. Generating close to 0 sales for well-established companies with legacy clients, well trained pixels and great lookalike audiences from advertising with tiny budgets is not all that hard to do. Failing to generate even 1x roas over the course of 5 months speaks to great confidence mixed with extreme incompetence.

We're really disappointed to see that your review didn't mention the numerous times your payment was late, which is why campaigns were paused and what impacted ROAS at the end of our working relationship. Our team worked diligently to pivot to your requests and on multiple occasions shifted from deliverables within the scope of our contract to better fit your ever-changing goals. When you came to us as a client who had seen major losses in your ad revenue, we said we hoped we would build a lasting relationship. While that didn't pan out, we are happy to hear you found an agency that better fit your needs and expectations.

This project was my third try with ad agencies; Savage Global Marketing's fees were quite a bit higher than my previous two vendors. I decided to put more money into the partnership to see if it made a difference.

Savage Global Marketing's management fee is $3,000 a month.

Our ongoing engagement with Savage Global Marketing began in January 2021.

Overall, I've enjoyed working with Savage Global Marketing — they know what they're doing. They make insightful changes to our ads that follow the results of each ad they put out. We're starting from scratch, and Savage Global Marketing has built up our audience. I've set project expectations and haven't been disappointed with them; they know the goals we need to hit.

Savage Global Marketing is the best agency I've ever worked with. We see improvements every month: we had really good months in April and February, despite a dip in March. I've seen improvement in each metric I've asked Savage Global Marketing to improve, including sales, site traffic, repeat buyers, and conversion rates. 

At this point, Savage Global Marketing is still costing more than I see in returns, which is disappointing. I haven't seen a profit yet, but if things keep increasing at the current rate, I expect to see a profit within two months. 

How did Savage Global Marketing perform from a project management standpoint?

Savage Global Marketing communicates with me when they need to. I'm very hands-off because I don't know much about paid ads. We have calls with them every two weeks, although sometimes I forget to join. Sometimes the project manager isn't on the call, but the other teammate I work with from Savage Global Marketing will step up and run the call. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

After working with two agencies whose communication I didn't like, I'm happy with the Savage Global Marketing communicates with me. They're prepared for our regular calls and are actively working on ad strategies to improve the partnership's results. I've never experienced that with other agencies. Obviously, we see the impact of those strategies in our monthly improvements. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I'm on the fence about continuing to spend the amount of money I am now with Savage Global Marketing. They're ten times more expensive than other agencies I've worked with. Also, the time it takes to see the results while I'm pouring money into the project is hard; we're four months into this and I'm still not seeing a profit. I'm not sure that is them, but I'm invested in continuing the partnership for a few more months and giving them the benefit of the doubt to see what they'll accomplish. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Savage Global Marketing is knowledgeable and a pleasure to work with. They get results, but customers need to be willing to put in the money for 6–8 months before seeing a positive ROI. My advice would be to be patient, trust the process, and be willing to put out the money until there are positive results. Results won't come overnight with Savage Global Marketing.

Their videography is very good. Our commercials turned out wonderful. Everyone loves them. We go over all the ads every month or every other week to review how many people have seen it, how many clicks we’ve gotten from our landing page, etc. Savage has shown results and their value.

Our top goal was to build a better customer base. We’re very well known in South Florida, but because we’ve opened several shops in the past year, it’s nice to have different ads for our three different locations.

The only metric I would share is how successful they are in PPC advertising — a lot of my colleagues can’t even make money with PPC, spending close to $20 per lead, while we were only spending around $9–$10 per lead in our prime.

Savage Global broke into two teams, one for content and another for designing a website. I began working with the content team to figure out what important topics we were interested in having materials written for. We then provided the web design team with images and relevant information around the structure.

After that, we created a Google Ads account. Savage Global asked us what our budget was and how we wanted to split it across the type of ads that we were interested in running. The team created a landing website on WordPress for us as well as a phone tracking system.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Going into this project, we really wanted to get the website up and running before a huge court case. Our goal was to make sure that we had our best foot forward, and we definitely got the website done right on time. 

The ads are a bit more complicated to measure since, for many reasons, it's very competitive in the legal field and it costs a lot per click. We're keeping an open mind as to what the metrics might look like. However, we’re quite happy with the quality of their work and with the results that we've seen so far.

I was getting bi-weekly reports from them and we were in constant contact through email.

Savage Global took direction really well.

There was a little bit more that we had to provide from our end since we couldn’t really expect a marketing agency to understand highly detailed legal information. That was fine, though, and not really something that they could’ve controlled.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Savage Global Marketing currently supports our content marketing pipeline by generating an engaging and professional explainer video, specifically demonstrating the application process for our of our product offerings. We've kicked off the engagement with a brainstorming session to finalize the scope, narrative, and prospect shot list. Their team has then moved forward with the production stage, working onsite with two of our internal team members.

They've already produced an 8-minute long video, which is scheduled to launch soon. We've also set future deliverables for their team as part of our continued engagement.
