I’m the CEO of a creative production studio from Croatia with over fifteen years of experience in commercial and film production, animations and visual effects.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Redesigned website with new micro animations, faster & better optimization for mobile devices and a website with higher performance.

In general, their approach was flexible, since we continuously cooperated during the design & concept phase and the final development once the design was approved. The whole process was supervised by a project manager, and their team's approach was very effective.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their enthusiasm to solve specific problems and deliver cutting edge solutions. I also found it interesting that their saying “honouring the code” presents Samurai Digital as a perfect partner in creating digital products.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

As a client, you always like to receive things faster but their speed was sufficient enough. Sometimes for good quality, you just have to wait.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the product manager in a company that offers software in particular for dentists in Germany. The software offers functions along the whole patient journey. The range of services extends from reception, through treatment, to billing and also includes mobile apps.

For what projects/services did your company hire Samurai Digital?

We hired Samurai Digital for app development as well as web development which is not directly included in our in-house developed software. They especially developed stand-alone mobile apps and apps that interface with our software.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to create a patient education app for dentists where they can easily register and start using it without lenghtly sales and onboarding procedures. Besides the app every customer should get access to a connected website where they can easily manage their profile, users and education media.

How did you select Samurai Digital?

We already had good experiences with Samurai Digital from recent projects so we decided to ask them if they could also support us with that new project. In a short time they created a proposal and a small team with who we could discuss everything. Scope, schedule and costs matched our expectations so we decided to proceed with them.

Describe the project in detail.

The project contained a lot of different tasks for Samurai Digital. We described our requirements for the main functionalities of the app and the connected website. With that information, they created a project plan including UX/UI work for a design that matches our CI. The app is only developed for iOS and only for iPads since it shows videos and pictures where dentists can paint and write in and which have to be signed by the patient at the end. After the website and app could be tested and proof of concept was given, Samurai also provided the media server where we could store the education media. The app is priced with a monthly rate in a subcription model. In addition to the development of app and webside they provided a suggestion for the payment and billing providers and developed interfaces to those.

What was the team composition?

Samurai set up a small team of 1 project manager, 2 developers and 1 UX/UI expert. Most of the communication was with the project manager but we had also short meetings with UX or web/app developers when necessary.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We got positive feedback especially for user interface and media contents of the app. Customers also like the easiness of subscription and they then start using the app immediately after registration. We also had some synergies between this and our existing app where existing customers could benefit from.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Workflow was very effecitve althoug we are located in different countries and speak different languages so all of the communication was in English. We worked with proposals in Adobe XD and PowerPoint and sent updates via email with versioning of a new status. Besides that wie used skype and slack for quick chats or calls to resolve questions.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The most impressive and convenient for us was the very pragmatic approach of all of the team members. Short-term changes of requirements or only rough feature description never led to problems and if there were any open questions we just had a quick call about those.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There are always areas for improvements - on both sides. Different languages are always a challenge, especially when the app is in German and communication in English. So we had to be very careful with spelling or typos and sometimes hat to revise some parts several times. But this should be normal in such an case and we were overall very satisfied with their work.
