Building a suite of software applications for helping laboratories work more collaboratively with each other and the consituents they serve.  Deliverables included custom web portals and SaaS applications that allowed the laboratory partners to connect to a central hub, load test compendiums, connect with other laboratory partners, and provide / consume lab tests offered by the collective group of laboratory partners.

The team makeup took some time to get pefect.  Two or three resources either fell off the project or were re-assigned.  This is a natural part of this type of work, but it would have been nice to have the current team aligned this way from the beginning.

We implemented a product management system, improving the company's processes by centralizing catalog information in a central system. We conducted data enrichment processes from various sources, reducing manual tasks performed by business users. Regarding team management, we have improved both delivery times and the quality of our work

The team's work is conducted using the SCRUM framework. Nowadays, the team is mature enough to handle requirements autonomously and suggest improvements. Deliveries are generally made on time and as planned.

I appreciate the level of communication that exists with all the teammates who interact with me, making it easy to identify and manage needs promptly. There is a clause in the contract that prohibits hiring resources from Rootstack internally within the company. Many times, I have chosen another provider solely because of this condition. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something Rootstack could have done differently?

Also, what we've been improving is the quality of our delivery, ensuring that we conduct sufficient testing to avoid affecting existing workflows with new developments.

We hired Rootstack to develop our e-commerce website project. We wanted our system to be connected with the e-commerce website and we were seeking to gain visibility online.

We chose Rootstack because they were able to build our e-commerce from scratch meeting all of our needs and linking our internar system with the e-commerce website. It was a taylor-made project.

We are satisfied with the work done by Rootstack. Our requests have been responded to and favorably resolved during project deliveries. Despite the fact that it was a 100% virtual work, communication obstacles were overcome successfully. The project is achieving extraordinary results, increasing the presence on the web and e-commerce with an average amount of +6,800 visits per week.

We had meetings to receive the deliveries of the project, sometimes twice a month or on a weekly.

The versatility to adapt to our requests.

Since it is a 100% remote work, from both sides were needed to overcome communication issues.

We needed to grow our tech team to tackle diverse projects. We had to revamp our website’s design and performance. We also needed to improve our online service request system and our internal software like our CRM and ERP. All in all, we needed integral assistance with our digital transformation process.

We hired 8 software engineers, a Project Manager and a Tech Lead to work together with our in-house tech team.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

All solutions were delivered successfully. The team exceded our expectations in terms of expertise and human skills. They went the extra mile to fulfill all of our requests and make sure all objectives were met, and we will continue working together.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Rootstack works on our same time zone so they were always available to go through with our requests right away. They have excellent communication skills, are very transparent with their work, and are willing to help proactively when problems arise.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was amazed by the speed with which they were able to put together the specific tech team we needed. They work with high-performing experts certified in all major technologies who are also focused on making clear communication and continuous support a priority.

There’s always room for minor improvement but they were highly attentive to detail and delivered outstanding quality work.

We’re a digital marketing company that focuses on marketing services along with web design and development. I’m one of the partners and the operations director.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rootstack?

We were looking to take on some additional development resources to support some of our business without necessarily being full-time hires.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Rootstack provides flexible development resources depending on our month-to-month needs. We’ll primarily reach out to them when we bring on new projects, tell them the specific skill sets we’re looking for, and define the number of hours. Then, they give us a few options to select from.

A lot of the work they do is within Drupal and WordPress. As of right now, we’ve only utilized their development services, but we’ve talked about potentially onboarding additional resources in the future for UX and QA.

What is the team composition? 

We work with about 3–5 developers depending on the need. Some have worked with us on a short-term basis, and others have been with us for longer.

How did you come to work with Rootstack?

I’ve been aware of Rootstack for several years now, so it was just about finding the right time and need. As far as how we started working with them, we brought on one of their developers for a short period to try them out. Things went well, so we gradually expanded from there. 

How much have you invested with them?

There’s no set amount because it’s based on time used and resources needed. We spent about $20,000 per month between December 2020 and January 2021, but it’ll probably go down in the near future.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working with them since October 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve definitely had more success with Rootstack over other contractors. Whereas past developers have given us work with a lot of issues, Rootstack seems to get things right the first time, which has made them a big asset to us.

How did Rootstack perform from a project management standpoint?

We like working with them. Their developers are generally managed by our internal team within our project management tools. We haven’t been any issues with communication, so far, and it’s nice to see that they take on a lot of accountability. 

At the administrative level, It’s been great. I like that I can request a resource within specific criteria, and they’ll get things ramped up within the day if not the next.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One of the impressive things about them is their accountability. Other contractors we’ve worked with will typically just take our specs and do exactly what it says on the page. But, Rootstack’s team tends to analyze the task a little bit more. They want to understand our needs rather than just executing based on our requirements.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, the experience has been pretty solid so far. Any issues that we’ve had have been minor, and they’d resolve them right after we’d talked to them.

We have been working closely with Rootsack for the past months on one of our biggest and important projects. Their team has successfully developed part of the main functions of this software.

We were contacted by a representative from Rootstock back in 2018 for the first time. We spend almost a whole Year analyzing them, following their footsteps, and seeing other companies' reviews. Them for the Year 2019 we began doing business with them.

They have shown availability when needed for their help, even though our time zones are completely different. In other words, they are a great and professionals team, I recommend their services to any Software Company that needs assistance.

There were 6 of them. The first person did the Consult, the second did guide me to get the needed personnel on board, the third one was a front end developer, the fourth was a designer, the fifth was a react native developer, and the last one was a back end developer. All fully equipped and professional.

The outcomes were amazing and very professional. Any set goals were reached as requested.

We use a couple of methods for communications. Such as slack, emails, skype, and video conferences through zoom. We also used to schedule every meeting ahead of time using the services from google calendar.

Their word, and reliability. Always available, there for you when we need them. When looking for a qualified engineer they find them. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

There isn't any space for improvements, since they have it all.

We’ve had different projects with them involving Drupal development.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They developed our website, in which they added an integration for video calls, an online chat, etc. They also developed a system that allows our clients to calculate the costs of an insurance policy online, make payments, and buy an insurance package.

We work with about 3-4 people.

How did you come to work with Rootstack?

I personally knew one of the founders and this was the reason why we had the first project with them. However, we’ve decided to continue our collaboration because they are very professional and always meet all deadlines with great quality.

How much have you invested in them?

We’ve spent between $6,000-$8,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We have been working on this last project for the last two months, although the first development was three years ago.

The insurance word has been also, somehow impacted with technology. Nowadays, the users are more aware of the content of the products. They do Google research before buying anything, they know the prices, make comparisons, etc. Having a strong online presence has allowed us to reach these clients. We have reached new markets and done so in a more effective way than we did before.

Their communication is great, the project manager did a great job, and they were always pending on deadlines, changes, etc. We are very happy in that aspect.

We wanted to develop a leading-edge WiFi app that would remotely control equipment in swimming pools and spas from anywhere in the world.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rootstack developed the mobile app for our swimming pool controller. They used HTML.

A year-and-a-half later, they helped us build a more complex version, with added features and submenus. 

We don’t have any open projects with Rootstack right now, but they are maintaining our products.

Some of their team members have in-depth experience with hardware. That’s a great advantage compared to other software development companies who don’t have hardware expertise.
