I am the CTO of MirrorCare, a telehealth technology company that specializes in neurotoxic procedures.

What challenge were you trying to address with Rocketbuild?

We were looking to build our MVP.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Rocketbuild developed custom software for us. The team built our application in Python from the ground up. The team included two-way video communication capabilities, a login page, and authentication functionality. They also helped design our initial logo and brand concept, helping us find our company voice.

What is the team composition?

We worked with 5–6 members of their team. People rotated in and out of the project as needed.

How did you come to work with Rocketbuild?

I had a personal relationship with the president of the company. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested around $150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing engagement began in October 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We had an aggressive, 12-week timeline and they were able to meet that deadline. We were very impressed by their quick work and we will continue to work with them. I’m very happy.

How did Rocketbuild perform from a project management standpoint?

Our teams use Jira to manage the project and Slack to communicate. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

Rocketbuild excels at anticipating our needs. They know if something is going to b a problem ahead of time and make sure to stay on top of it. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, they were able to work with us well given the timeline.

We are a full-service marketing firm. I am Head of Accounts and oversee my own projects.

We partnered with RocketBuild on the project to provide the site architecture and development. We provided UX consulting and all website designs.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to create a cutting-edge website that met the demands of our client, their partners, and customer.

How did you select this vendor?

RocketBuild and our firm have worked together in the past. They had originally reached out to us about the project and we decided to collaborate together. RocketBuild in our opinion is a top tier web developer in Indianapolis. We have a great deal of respect for their development capabilities and genuinely enjoy working with them.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

They oversaw the initial customer research and architecture/wireframing. By the time we started they had established a solid foundation for our team to design the website, including strong use cases and wireframes.

What was the team composition?

We primarily worked with the owner, the project manager, the technical manager. However, we also interacted with the developers.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

This project has provided us with the confidence to team up with RocketBuild again in the future on other project. They bring professionalism and development skills we value.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

Project management was very important on this project. We have multiple in-person kick-off meetings with RocketBuild and the client. We also had weekly status calls that were helpful in keeping the project moving. Overall, the RocketBuild team did a nice job keeping the project moving and in scope.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

It's the people, we really enjoy each person on their team. We have no problem emailing or calling any of them if we have q question. They always make themselves available and encourage collaboration.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I do not believe so. We'd like to do more work with them, and I believe we will soon.

I’m the executive director of a nonprofit trade association.

For what projects/services did your company hire RocketBuild?

We needed a company to work on my association management software (AMS) to develop a complicated, searchable database of our members and tie together manufacturers using the AMS's open API.

What were your goals for this project?

To have a database that allowed us to search members and the manufacturers that our members represent.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

They came recommended by our AMS company. After receiving their proposal and having an online chat, it was clear they are a customer-focused, knowledgeable solutions provider.

Using the open API of our AMS, they were able to deliver a searchable database that met our needs.

What was the team composition?

I was in touch with a team of three on their side. I had one main contact, but then others came in when needed for clarity.

They delivered the product as promised.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

They provided a timeline, with frequent communication which was exceptional and very effective.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I really liked their friendly personalities, their ability to help me understand what was going on, and their great communication skills. They never gave up if there was a challenge or tried to put me on the back burner. I always felt like my business was important thanks to their excellent customer service and programming skill.

Are there any areas for improvement?

None, they were one of the best companies I’ve worked with for development and programming.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the CEO for a 2,000 member non-profit professional association, the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC), that employs 3 staff members with varying capabilities and relies on a mid- to low-end association management system (AMS) for membership transactions, communications and product sales.

For what projects/services did your company hire RocketBuild?

To assist in the assessment and completion of an integration between the association's AMS and a 3rd party web-based scientific literature database through a one-click lik on an existing AMS page.

What were your goals for this project?

To offer a one-click seamless access experience for members to this newest members' only benefit.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

On the recommendation of the AMS provider who had previous experience with RocketBuild on client IT/database matters they themselves could not handle.

Describe the project in detail.

The AAWC AMS, MemberClicks, was not sophisticated enough to set up a single sign-on / membership authentication process to provide members with one-click access to a third party web-based literature and reference search tool (Trip Database Pro).

On the recommendation of the AMS provider, the association enlisted RocketBuild to assist in the assessment and completion of an integration between MemberClicks and Trip.

What was the team composition?

We worked primarily with and through Connor Hess. I did not have content with our RB team members.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The integration is completed not withstanding circumstances with the AMS that were not initially anticipated and required work beyond the original scope outlined by RocketBuild. We now have a seamless link for AAWC members logged on to the AAWC website to access the TripDatabase.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Connor was in touch regularly, providing updates on progress. He and worked quite well together. He also conducted himself professional and efficiently with the Trip Database team, despite a 5 hour time difference!

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Responsiveness to our initial request for assistance, and flexibility with the pricing. RocketBuild was a tenacious team.

I’m the founder of GuideShareAngler, a rideshare app in the recreational fishing industry.

We hired RocketBuild to help with the overall architecture of the site as well as the WordPress theme and plugin selection.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to create a framework for an MVP that we could test and iterate with customers.

RockeBuild was one of the local development shops I interviewed.

It was just their team of two and me.

The site launched in May, and we’ve just begun working on marketing for the concept. 

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

RocketBuild does a really nice job with project management. They’re very attentive to details and they took time to thoroughly answer all of my questions.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

RocketBuild was an absolute pleasure to work with. Not only were they technically astute, but their customer care was outstanding. 

Even though I must have been a very small customer, I always felt important to them. They believed in the project and in me. Their guidance was indispensable, especially during the early phases of development. They were happy to take additional calls after the project was over as a courtesy.

I can’t think of any areas for improvement.

I’m the digital marketing director of a full-service advertising, PR, and digital marketing agency.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with RocketBuild?

My company didn’t have an in-house development team, so we wanted to outsource it.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

RocketBuild is our outside development vendor, and we’ve worked with them on a variety of projects, from one-off changes to more substantial engagements. They primarily work within the WordPress framework.

The largest project that we’ve done with RocketBuild was redeveloping a website for an international nonprofit using Sitefinity CMS. Our teams worked together on the strategy, content, site map, and wireframes. We gave RocketBuild the design assets, which they used to develop widgets and build a staged rollout of top-level and secondary pages. They also set up templates so that the same widgets would work across multiple pages. They created the framework and widgets necessary for the nonprofit to manage the site in-house within Sitefinity.

RocketBuild trained our client on how to use the framework they develop, and they also provide post-launch support. When my team concludes a development project, we generally fix bugs and address issues for around sixty days. If our client needs further assistance after that point, we become the middleman and have them work directly with RocketBuild.

What is the team composition?

Our main contact is Tyler (Director of Technical Solutions, RocketBuild). He handles strategy and day-to-day account management. We also work with Jason (President, RocketBuild).

How did you come to work with RocketBuild?

When I began working with my company four years ago, they already had a relationship with RocketBuild. At the time, our companies were across the street from each other.

How much have you invested with them?

The nonprofit site redevelopment project cost $147,000. Since we began working together, my company has spent $200,000–$1 million.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our work together began in 2015, and it is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The results vary, since often website development has to do with something else, like a brand relaunch or an advertising initiative. However, my team’s satisfaction with RocketBuild and that of our clients who work with them is very high. RocketBuild provides development services that we cannot handle on our own.

How did RocketBuild perform from a project management standpoint?

We give all of our requirements to Tyler, who then disseminates them to his team. We often have in-person project kick-offs with the developers to set expectations and ensure we’re meeting their requirements while they’re meeting our client’s needs. We inform clients upfront that RocketBuild is our partner. Rather than merely taking information from RocketBuild and passing it on to our clients, Tyler and Jason often attend client meetings as the subject-matter experts. They’re invested in the client’s success and communicate directly with them.

RocketBuild is also very adaptable. They don’t insist on adhering to a rigid sprint cycle; if we need something done immediately, Tyler tries to address it quickly. When they were across the street from us, we had a lot of in-person meetings. Since they've moved, we primarily communicate with Tyler via e-mail, text, or phone call.

What did you find most impressive about them?

RocketBuild is a transparent and flexible partner. They’re able to work with and support multiple CMSs. They took the time and underwent the training necessary to develop the nonprofit’s website and migrate it from Sitefinity to WordPress.

They also understand that not every customer is going to pay for a full custom build. They’re able to modify tools and CSS to function the way we want them to operate within themes.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It’s on us and RocketBuild – the smaller/one-off changes get lost because we do not have a weekly or bi-weekly status update from them. Sometimes these fall off of my radar and then realize we have something with them. They are never late on a deliverable, but better visibility in some instances would be great.

Any advice for potential customers?

If you provide expectations upfront, RocketBuild will meet these expectations and be transparent about deliverables. They’re willing to adapt and adjust at any time, and they’re not overly rigid about the budget.
