Relia’s commitment to deliver what was promised issomething that is a boon to solopreneur clients like myself. The Relia Software team is easily accessible, easy your communicate with, are very professional and prompt in their responses and their work.

We faced a lot of problems with the Web Design team which was separate from Relia, the web development team, but Relia just showed resilience in the face of adversity and delivered what was promised. I am going to be forever grateful for that. I already went back to Relia Software for Phase 2 of my web development.

They delivered right on point. I don’t see any areas in which the Relia Software team did not deliver as promised.

Runcaster is a sports application made for the Indian market. I’m the founder.

What challenge were you trying to address with Relia Software?

We had the idea to build a real-time prediction app for the Indian cricketing season, which was to start a few months later. We needed an offshore extended development team to do it for us as I don’t have any technical expertise. I went through a few companies, finally hiring Relia to do my work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The app was built for Android and iOS. It enables real-time predictions of live cricket matches. Users can go on the app and start predicting what’ll happen next, in order to win points, compete on leaderboards, and use their points to win prizes. The concept is similar to a trivia platform, but it’s more real-time and so everything needs to be quicker, in terms of syncing and calculating points from match results.

There were a lot of technical challenges, as well as UI/UX ones. On top of that, we needed everything completed within three months, in time for the new cricket season.

What is the team composition?

One of their key stakeholders is our project manager, and we’ve also worked with a business analyst, an account manager, a UX lead, and a tech lead. We currently have a dedicated product manager and a four-person dev team.

How did you come to work with Relia Software?

I researched companies that had built sports trivia apps and found them there. I liked that they looked at the strategy and outlined the UX before we started the collaboration. It was only from a documentation standpoint, but I liked that approach. I was able to explain the concepts in small pieces, and they collated everything to come up with an overall strategy, which impressed me.

It has cost over $60,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in February 2018. The first version of the app was completed by mid-April, and we have an ongoing relationship for the next version.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve had more than 10,000 downloads, and gained around 2,000–3,000 sessions per day. Our active user numbers were also good. They helped us to achieve success, so we’re also trying to get into other sports. We wanted to test the idea with cricket, and it turned out very well. We were able to raise $500,000 for the business, allowing us to put together an extended team. They’re always there to address feedback we receive.

How did Relia Software perform from a project management standpoint?

When it comes to project management, we had hiccups in the beginning. They’ve since streamlined things and the current process is very good. After starting an offshore development center, they put good processes in place. Once they got used to our way of working, they did a good job.

I’m currently traveling to Vietnam to meet them. They set up a very good team for us, and we still have a good relationship.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I liked their initial strategy. This project was something new to them and cricket wasn’t a sport they were aware of, but they got involved and understood the concept. They took on the project and made sure the delivery would be perfect for the upcoming season.

They only committed to things they could deliver, which gave me good visibility and allowed me to plan marketing accordingly. I wasn’t kept in the dark at any point. I’ve worked with IT services companies in the past, and Relia’s service stood out. I’ve seen companies with better processes than them, but Relia has an excellent level of know-how.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The project management and communication were definitely something to improve at the start of the project. Other than that, there’s nothing I can think of. The cost/value is very good, as is the scheduling.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

At least in the initial stages, it’s important to have a close relationship. One thing I’ve learned is the importance of working closely for the first few weeks of a project. We had multiple calls to help them understand our expectations, which helped a lot. Doing this will make the relationship a successful one. It’s why I decided to visit them in-person in Vietnam.

Relia has a solid process, and they know what they’re doing. They have solid resources to track the work and everything is transparent. Relia can be the go-to company for anyone looking to building the first version of a product and then scaling it.

We wanted to develop an AI news summary application which involved topic grouping on top of plain summarisation with Generative AI. Decipher unlike other AI news summary apps, crawls through RSS data from different media outlets groups similar articles from different sources as one topic and summarises the articles in 3-4 bullet pointers for easier and fast consumption of news. We approached Relia Software initially to help us with AI consulting to understand feasibility of building such applicatioin, cost involved in managing models and overall development strategy. 
They helped us in each step and at the end of the consulting contract, they provided us with over all approach, budget and things we needed to be aware for building such an application. Post consulting we awarded product development contract to Relia Software with key SOW being custom topic grouping model, iOS application development, DevOps and MLOps.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Relia Software did an amazing job with the whole project. We went from one liner idea to app being on appstore within 2 and half months. The AI architect assigned by Relia Software team is a winner who not only gave accurate estimates but also guided us in every step of the model development. Their mobile and UX team did satisfactory work as well. Overall we are very happy with the output they delivered within initial estimated budget and timelines.

Project management was good. Since we did a consulting engagement to understand technical feasibility before we started scoping out the project, their team has a very clear understanding of what needs to be achieved. Because of the different time zones, there were a few hiccups, but they were always there to address them.
