Polymath Research, Inc (PRI) is a Canadian financial services startup, looking to improve private market fundraising and deal making using a security-token based blockchain called Polymesh.

I am the Senior Product Manager at the company, and I am responsible for the product vision, roadmap, delivery, and evaluation of our overall product success.

We hired Red Rocket to augment our current in-house team working on our Polymath Capital Platform. We had a solid business plan, but wanted to accelerate the time to market of our product in order to provide services to clients that had expressed interest in our services. \

Red Rocket had a track record of success, and offered quick onboarding solutions that let our team continue to focus on building and designing the product, rather than look for new talent. Red Rocket provided not only engineering resources, but also design resources that enabled us to quickly scale up our team painlessly.

The Polymath Capital Platform is a fundraising platform targeted towards private market deal makers in Canada and the United States. We had already done the market research and product design up front, and needed additional engineering and design resources to accelerate the product delivery cycles of the team.

We onboarded Red Rocket to help drive tasks as part of our product delivery on a sprint by sprint basis.

The recruitment process was easy. We already had a connection with Red Rocket, so they were able to send over a number of resumes for their top talent. Our team had the opportunity to review those resumes, and chat with them as well to make sure they fit the team from a cultural perspective.

Once we knew what/who we wanted, we were able to onboard them onto our existing internal systems (Slack, JIRA, etc.) in a matter of days - significantly reducing our onboarding overheard.

Can you share any outcomes from the engagement that demonstrate progress or success?

Shortly after joining, the Red Rocket team was able to significantly enhance our delivery times by tackling critical bugs that were slowing us down. As a result, we were able to quickly delivery an MVP shortly after.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow has been easy, mostly due to our direct integration with our existing tools. We didn't need to install our procure any additional tools to onboard them. Red Rocket integrated with our existing workflows, so that we didn't need to waste time.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I was impressed at how quickly the onboarding process was. Everyone from red rocket was curious about our project, was eager to get started, and fit quite well with our companies culture. They were flexible to making sure they worked as best as possible within our time zones, and demonstrated a real buy-in into our project.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Overall Red Rocket has been a success for our organization. If there were any rooms for improvement or optimization, it would be around proactively asking questions during onboarding. The onboarding process overall was still incredibly quick painless, this is just one area that can push them even closer to the top.

Red Rocket developed a website for our company from scratch. They created an entire brand identity with the following new design for our solution and social media. It helped increase brand recognition and the digital presence of our company.

I was looking for a team to create design and website for my business for over a month, but most of the companies took a long time to respond, and could not find a window for an intro call. But these guys provided a pretty quick turnaround. In just 3 days, we managed to: get in touch via LinkedIn, conducted an intro call, elicited requirements and estimated a project.

Red Rocket performed a discovery session and research of the product market and our competitors. They provided us with a road map for the development of the project and branding identity. Rocket engineers used NodeJS & NextJS frameworks along with ReactJS to develop our website.

The core team included six professionals, including SCRUM master, designer, and 4 developers (2 front-end, 1 back-end and 1 QA engineers). We used to involve other experts on an as-needed basis when to speed up the development process as well as to have internal extensive consultations.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Red Rocket met all of our expectations. The new website ensures a high conversion rate of students. While new designs for our social media attract the attention of the end-user and look the same as the idea of our project.

The communication line with the team was perfectly held using Asana, while all the technical tasks and issues were discussed and overseen using Jira and Notion. The development process took about 2 months for our website to went live (2 weeks - in design phase, and 6 weeks - the development phase).

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Red Rocket guys started working on our project right away. Throught the development phase, they accepted all our adjustments to the design and made us completely satisfied with their work. And special thanks to designer Katerina for making all the required edits and coming up with numerous great ideas for the project.

We have enjoyed our collaboration and hope to work with them again on future projects.

Anna, Business Development Manager at Red Rocket, contacted us via LinkedIn at the right moment - exactly when we needed additional development resources to cover this request. After one intro and technical call, Red Rocket proved to be the right vendor, so we commenced the work based on some rough preliminary time and budget estimates.

Red Rocket performed a decent Discovery session, exploring the SalesForce and guts of the Ultimate platform, and provided us with a solid rough estimation breakdown that included: min/max estimates, concerns, risks and unclarities that we’ll need to solve on the fly. Red Rocket engineers used JavaScript language mixed with regular markdown to achieve our goals. However, at some point, they had to dive deeper and explore a slightly different approach, using an internal library of SalesForce components.

There were 3 people in the core team, including a BDM, CTO and the developer. We added other engineers on an ad-hoc basis if we needed consultation or executing some work in parallel.

The delivery was made on time and within the agreed budget estimates. We enjoyed the approach and proactive reporting provided.

We communicated effectively via a joint Slack channel directly with the whole team. At the same time, we sometimes solved more formal topics related to billing and legalities via emails.

Rea Rocket started off the work very fast, and despite the fact that our client and we were making changes to the scope during the execution of the project, the tech team accepted those adequately and showed their flexibility in planning and delivery. We felt very comfortable that they addressed everything before executing and kept us on track throughout.

we've loved our collaboration and looking forward to continue partnering with them in future projects.

I’m CEO of Everlastcut, which produces clothes in different factories, and we must keep all the data in each step of the production stage. We are efficient in making our custom-made one-offs garments each time.

Previously, our data had been stored in excel spreadsheets even though we built some exciting macros; the project is no longer sustainable. That is why we decided to make an online app so it can be available across different parties involved. Our goal has been to produce and monitor t-shirts, shirts, trousers, and sweatshirts. For these products, we mainly satisfied all vertical integrations.

With Red Rocket representatives, we met online via Linkedin. We scheduled a couple of Skype calls to describe the tasks and understand each other. Once we were both confident with no further questions, we started our cooperation.

Our web application has been programmed in Python with a flask framework. We described the scope of the sprints every time, and we went through them together. As the features have been appearing in our code one by one as was on our list, we were delighted in all the processes.

We had what we could afford at the time. We did have one senior python full-stack developer. That connected our frontend and backend at the same time seamlessly.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We use the solution we built together seamlessly every day. We can produce t-shirts, shirts, trousers, and sweatshirts. Everything can be tracked in real-time at the production, so we always understand where the products are. This monitoring saves us a lot of nerves to us. We have all the data in the right place, so it is easy for production to do its job, too, avoiding asking management what is necessary to do in customized garments.

I enjoyed the whole process. However, the solutions we needed have been thought through. We communicate through Skype. We used Azure DevOps to set up sprints that we used across other programmers we had in time.

I loved the delivery. The other fun part as humor can only add to the spirit. So I enjoyed the whole process, even the delivery we needed.

Every time it is the development process. So my only wish would be to have started sooner.

They designed multiple logo options incorporating the blue and red colors we wanted and aviation elements similar to Hamburg Airport’s branding. After we picked our favorite designs, they produced mockups showing real-world applications.
They also built us a landing page website showcasing our services, with a video on the homepage. As a bonus, they threw in business card designs at no extra charge. The standout feature was how quickly everything was completed - we were in a rush and they delivered.
