I thought I was hiring a mobile app developer with a team! This guy is a SCAM!!! He is a dude from India (trying to pretend that he is from New York and has offices all over the USA). He will take your money, and contract a random developer to work on your project. Your project will NOT be completed and he will try to phish you for more money as you are under the impression that the project is being developed. He did exactly this to me, STAY CLEAR!!!

Mike has no way of understanding the true scope of a project because he does not understand project management or programming. He will hire someone to do the job for him and have little idea what is being developed.

I’m the director of a company that created a property management app.

What challenge were you trying to address with Red Fox Web Technologies?

We needed help to develop a delivery scanning module for the app. The idea was that, when a package arrives at the building, it could be scanned and logged into the system. Then, it would send out a notification to the recipient of the package.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Red Fox Web Technologies did some research, in the beginning, to figure out if we could use the barcode to do the scanning of the package. In the end, we decided to not do that, and instead, we used optical character recognition technology.

They developed a standalone hybrid app using Ionic. It communicates with our existing progressive web apps with an API they built.

The scan takes a photo of the label, processes that image, extracts the text, and tries to find a match in the database of the residents.

If it finds a match, it displays it on the screen. The user taps on that to confirm it is the correct resident. If it is, it logs that delivery in the system and sends out an email alert to the recipient.

If it isn’t the right match, the user can research in the database to find the correct resident and let them know about the package that way.

I found Red Fox Web Technologies in Upwork when sourcing for developers to help me.

We spent around $2,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working in August 2020, and we finished the project in mid-December 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We don’t have any feedback from actual users because the app isn’t in the real world yet. From the testings we’ve done, the app is working well.

Shishir did a very good job of supporting us after the development. The app had some bugs, and he worked very hard to fix them. He looked after us, and I was very happy with the service he offered.

I know that, once the app is in the real world, he’ll address any issues that come up. The reason it isn’t out yet is not because of him, it’s that we need to sort some other things out. We’ll have some more work for him to increase the functionality of the app.

How did Red Fox Web Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

We used GitHub for managing the code and Upwork for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Red Fox Web Technologies’ level of aftercare support is impressive.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The development took roughly six months. Maybe they could have worked faster. However, I didn’t put them under any time pressure whatsoever to do the work. I’m sure that if I’d told them that we had a strict deadline, they could have achieved it in that period of time. Apart from that, I don’t have any other comments.

Get clear specifications from the start.

I am the managing director of Yellow Bay Technologies. We make intelligent sensor networks for aquaculture. In aquaculture, it’s very important to know what’s happening in the water at all times. 

Our unit monitors all of the key variables in the water and sends that information to the cloud. Our users can access this data on their phones and get text updates when conditions change. We run that data through a set of AI algorithms that provide an ML contact, which refines the settings for the aquaculture facility.

What challenge were you trying to address with Red Fox Web Technologies?

We built the backend of our website internally but needed help with the frontend.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Red Fox Web Technologies provides frontend development services for us. Their team ensures the website is compatible with AWS. 

They also built our React dashboard, which is the means by which the data goes from the unit at the aquaculture facility to someone’s phone or laptop. Users can access their data anywhere they have an internet connection. The dashboard shows the status of eight different variables. The team also created our progressive web app to provide the same data. They’re now updating the PWA and dashboard.

My main point of contact was Mike (Director of Sales & Marketing).

How did you come to work with Red Fox Web Technologies?

I talked to two or three people about developing the frontend of our website, but it just didn’t feel right. Then when I talked to Mike, I felt they could accomplish the task. We gave them the website to start with and since they did a good job, we kept going with them.

We have invested $3,500.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our ongoing engagement began in June 2020 and it’s ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Red Fox Web Technologies delivered exactly what we wanted. Our dashboard was a bit more complicated because things had to be done on our end as well. We’re happy with the collaboration overall.

How did Red Fox Web Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we weren’t able to meet anyone face to face. At the same time, if it wasn’t for that restriction, we might not have worked with Red Fox Web Technologies. 

Mike and I communicate via email and Skype. We have an open Skype conversation with both of our teams so everyone was on the same page. It’s a very transparent process. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They do what they say they’re going to do. We didn’t ask Red Fox Web Technologies for anything earthshattering, but they did a great job executing what we asked for. They delivered everything according to the timeline and for a great price.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, everything has been successful so far. Anytime an issue has come up, they sorted it out right away.

Tell them what you want and they’ll deliver.

We wanted a website where our customers could easily access information about our programs and class schedules, reserve their seats, and buy class packages or memberships from their phones, tablets, or computers.

We scanned Upwork for different vendors, and Red Fox seemed suited to our needs.

The project was divided into 3 stages: design, development, and operation. During the first 2 stages, Red Fox sent weekly updates.

In the design stage, we described how we wanted the website to look, and Red Fox improved our vision and designed the platform. We spent a few weeks perfecting the design until we reached a suitable option. For the development stage, Red Fox built the functionalities we discussed before the start of the project and added a few more features. We ran tests on the functionalities to make sure they worked well. Finally, in the operation stage, we launched the site and added a few final functionalities to facilitate our day-to-day operations.

Explain how the solution addressed your business challenge.

The solution allows our clients to reserve classes and purchase packages easily. On our end, the platform allows us to track availability, monitor reservations, and modify them at our clients’ requests.

The website already has over 200 users after a week and a half of operation. Customers are reserving classes online and commenting on the site’s user-friendliness.

What challenge were you trying to address with Red Fox?

I needed great web development and graphic design and someone that’s accountable to timelines. I wanted to take my business to another level.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I wanted a high-end branding WordPress website that was one page with multiple sections. They graphically designed the site and plugged it into my merchant account. They created forms using ActiveCampaign for people to schedule time with me to create strategy sessions through my website.

I communicated what my brand was and they made logos and graphics that resonated with what we do. I needed a lead-generation funnel site that took away the sales aspect of it. I needed it to make a profound statement and make an impact when people went there. The goal was to create a relationship and get people to call me without getting potential customers lost in the website.

After my first site, a month later, I had him do my second site.

What is the team dynamic?

Karan [Business Head/Creative Head, Red Fox Web] was my main point of contact. He gave me great feedback on some of my suggestions. I submitted a timeline, copywriting, type of images that I wanted, and then he created a template. He sent me options to choose from; it was a collaborative experience. Karan showed me how things work on the web. For example, I wanted him to change a banner, and I had no idea a banner takes four to six hours. He learned how to work with me and get a grasp of my vision and how I work as an entrepreneur.

I had them do a second website as well. Karan told me that my vision and what I wrote down weren’t matching and gave me a suggestion. To have insight from a web perspective like that changed the course of what I was asking him to do for all the right reasons. I had somebody to not only build the site but also keep my brand in check and make sure that my outcomes are being accomplished. He had my back in a big way in doing that. It saved me lots of money and mistakes.

It was a referral from someone on LinkedIn. I decided to work with him during a consultation with him

How much have you invested with them?

I’ve spent approximately $1,000 so far. I’ll probably spend another $1,500–$3,000, so the total will be around $5,000 when the project is complete.

We started working together in May 2017 and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

On Instagram, 20-30% of my followers liked the logo and the branding banner and commented on it. Approximately 50 qualified people have visited the new website, and they all loved it. They all received the message I intended to send; the feelings of professionalism, confidence, and engagement that they’re sharing with me came through. That was our goal. I haven’t received any negative feedback about the site or the flow. It’s been right on. I’ve never had anyone say they don’t understand what we do. It’s pretty clear.

How did Red Fox perform from a project management standpoint?

Responsiveness is almost 24/7. They’re nine hours ahead of me. I’ve never had to chase them down for an answer or help. Sometimes I have to change things quickly. I was doing a campaign and I was selling seminar tickets for $15 and needed to change it to $35. Normally, that could take six to eight hours on his end to change it, which I didn’t know. They’d have it done same day or next. When he said it would be done in 10 hours or that he would respond in the morning with the next milestone, he did. That made the process easy. Karan was sick once, and while he was at the doctor, he was making email changes on my server to meet deadline. He delivers. There was no language barrier with him being in India. That was key as well.

What did you find most impressive about them?

How they manage the project and the clients is impressive. They make sure that the project is right for them and they are right for the client. Their fees are budget conscious. The financial transaction was the easy part.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of one. I’ve been treated extremely well. That’s why I keep going back to them.

I’m an experienced freelance graphic and web designer that works with both large corporations as well as small businesses. I develop branding and create logos, marketing, and print collateral. My goal was to incorporate custom features that were requested by a client. My client's unique business model required some changes to WooCommerce, in particular, for scheduling and servicing of their clients.
