I'm the COO of FoodTrack, a company that provides real-time notifications and critical food safety information, including recalls and outbreaks, to manufacturers, suppliers, retailers, and other industry stakeholders worldwide.

What challenge were you trying to address with Ravenna?

We needed support with the development and maintenance of an already existing web app.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Ravenna has performed an initial code audit and taken over the maintenance of a product we had built by another developer. The team has helped clean up and fix existing bugs and update us to the latest hosting environment. Ravenna has also taken over a project another developer started to get our product ready for beta testing.Moreover, Ravenna has built key features and updates to our existing internal-use product as requested. The team is currently working on integrating AI to automate some of our workflow and improve our product's accuracy and value. Some of the features Ravenna has built include a better way to link related bulletins that we create, UI updates, search tool enhancements, a general increase and improvement of the performance of our site overall, and changes to various user-level permissions.

We started working with Ravenna in August 2025, and our engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We haven't seen any measurable outcomes yet, but we anticipate them in 2026. We plan to measure success through increased sales, both from renewals and net new customers and revenue.

Life Check Systems provides cloud-based safety and accountability technology for correctional facilities, schools, and security operations. The system uses mobile devices, NFC location tags, real-time alerts, and digital reporting to verify that required safety checks are physically performed, documented, and reviewable. For corrections, LCS helps officers document inmate observations, suicide watches, medical watches, security rounds, counts, and other routine jail activity. For schools, LCS helps staff and law enforcement confirm that exterior doors and sensitive areas are checked on a custom schedule, with missed checks triggering real-time alerts by phone, text, email, and device notification. LCS also provides body-camera functionality, cloud data storage, software updates, training, technical support, cellular backup service, and optional JMS integration.

• To become familiar with all server-side aspects of LCS so that Ravenna can operate as a backup to our primary developer.

Describe the scope of work in detail. Please include a summary of key deliverables.

Ravenna was engaged to build a React Navie mobile application for Life Check Systems and the supporting API infrastructure needed to integrate the app with our existing platform. Their scope included mobile app development, back end API development, authentication and permissions, site configuration, notifications, offline data handling, secure local storage, media workflows, QR/NFC scanning, GPS-related features, administrative tools, door/location management, and other custom characteristics of our unique platform. -- They also supported server-side work required for the app, including API endpoints and logic for users, permissions, configuration data, doors/locations, watches, observations, mobile reports, media uploads, notifications, and status updates. After initial build, Ravenna continued providing support through an ongoing retainer covering consultation, onboarding, and support for API and various integrations.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Ravenna met all project milestones on schedule and on budget. The product works, and it works well. They have stood behind and supported the work on every occasion. We now have our platform in use and commerce in a completely new market.

All deadlines were met. The team was always prepared for meetings and each member focused on their role and scope. When we have any questions or needs, we always get a same-day response and quick issue resolution. Management is available for phone calls when needed.

I'm the owner of Whittier Media, a media company. We have a product called CollegeIQ that helps students, parents, and counselors find the right colleges for them.

What challenge were you trying to address with Ravenna?

I needed to design and build our website from scratch. It was a data-heavy site, so Ravenna needed to figure out how to ingest all of the data and display it in a user-friendly way.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Ravenna has designed and developed our website. The team has been responsible for everything, including design and front- and backend development. Ravenna has delivered a completed website. They continue to do feature requests and maintenance.

Three people: a designer, a developer, and a developer/project manager

I found Ravenna through an online search. I chose them because I was impressed with their client list, and they responded quickly to my initial questions, which was a good sign for how they work with clients.

We started working together in April 2024. The completed website was delivered, and we continue to work on feature improvements.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

How did Ravenna perform from a project management standpoint?

Overall, very good. They kept me in the loop on progress, challenges, and any delays. We were slightly behind schedule, but that was partly on me. We communicated via virtual meetings and emails, and they responded lightning-fast.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Ravenna's responsiveness and nimbleness have been impressive. When something changes or we face a challenge, they figure out how to solve it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We took longer on design than I would have liked.
