Their project management was solid. We followed an Agile methodology with weekly sprint planning and demos. Deliverables were largely on time, and any delays were communicated transparently. They were very responsive to feedback and quick to address issues during QA and after launch.

What I appreciate the most are the founders willigness to hop on a quick call to problem solve or address any concerns. I also appreciate the thoroughness that the team does research on the possible solutions or paths to take to address a particular need or want. Quokka has been able to grow and expand with my business as it has expanded.

I have found most impressive about this company the assessbility of its founders. Despite having several other projects and things to attend to, Quokka founders demonstrate unparelled commitment to delivering a good quality product and customer satisfaction.

I think Quokka Labs have done a good job at responding to any concerns about misconcummicationas and expectations. I think they possibly could improve by being sure to fully explain certain aspects of the product requirement from in more lay terms to be sure everyone is on the same page. But overall when there were any lapses in communication, they have done a great job at trying to rectify them.

ChargEVer is a CPO in the business of setting up a network of charging points for Electric Vehicles. I head the business as Director.

For what projects/services did your company hire Quokka Labs, and what were your goals?

The EV charging point management involves a robust backend application and front end app. While we had the app ready in framework, we needed an expert team to enhance it and roll it out for public use in the limited stipulated time.

We came across Quokka Labs to our support and the story began.

How did you select Quokka Labs and what were the deciding factors?

We explored several vendors online and interviewed their representatives to evaluate their capability and commitment.

In all respects, Quokka arranged itself in the right spot. Quick and clear responses from the management team (Sanchit in our case) assured us that Quokka knows its ropes.

The application enhancement and finalization were broad items to be executed. Quokka was on-boarded to ensure that key features operate for Android and iOS platforms seamlessly.

Moreover, the setting up of cloud server and related infrastructure was also scoped. The application being based on the globally accepted OCPP protocol had to also adhere to the latest protocol standards while operating over WebSocket.

A technical lead, a DevOps lead and couple of developers were assigned to the project.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Quokka team integrated quickly with our team. After a short natural learning period which consisted of long walkthrough meetings, both teams got into working seamlessly.

What was highly appreciable was the responsible behaviour by the Quokka team in recommending most suitable of the 3rd Party solutions and relentless efforts in ensuring application up-time.

The team from Quokka followed project management concepts of plan based working. While some of the members on the project were shared, their unavailability was never let to impact the project deliverables.

We believe that the team lead ensured that tasks are scoped, planned and executed accordingly. MS Teams was used for communication among the team members including our team. Documentation for the planned and completed activities was evident.

While there were 1/2 instances of delay in micro-deliverables, they were controlled well in time to prevent any tangible impact.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Quokka's professional interaction and timely communication noteworthy. Moreover, in our case of the technology being rare, Quokka's ability to ramp up virtually no time is the most impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Quokka team could increase documentation so as to keep a record of activities for ChargEVer's future reference. Also, testing could be enhanced further whenever time permits so that the application can become more robust.

Had multiple discussions with the team and decided that they would be an appropriate team and would not bail out prior to completing our goals.

Our project has gone on longer than expected but I can not blame the team. We have had many unexpected obstacles to overcome.

What challenge were you trying to address with Quokka Labs?

We had another vendor working on our Android and iOS app that could talk to the hardware device, but something came up and they couldn’t complete it. Quokka Labs is finishing the work.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

When Quokka Labs came on board, the foundational work of the Android app was done, but there were barely any app screens. To date, Quokka’s team has finished up the Android app, the iOS app, another new iOS app, and they’re currently building a web-based admin console for internal tooling.

The app itself is pretty simple. It consists of a couple of screens and talks to a piece of Bluetooth hardware to gather data. What’s complicated is that the app isn’t user-driven. There’s a lot of backend logic that has to be correct for the app to determine when to proceed through the screens.

In total, the app consists of three different modules and has a Shopify integration. Quokka’s people have built out the Shopify integration to enable the custom pricing we need. While they’ve used some of the existing technology we had from the previous vendor, they’ve also made changes, like recommending and implementing a new database solution.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with and had calls with at least six people: an iOS developer, an Android developer, a full-stack developer, a designer, Sanchit (Marketing & Sales Strategy) and Suny (Engineering and Strategy). Sanchit is my main point of contact.  

How did you come to work with Quokka Labs?

I spoke with four other companies before connecting, and they felt like a great fit. I’m happy to be working with them.

After reading a lot of reviews on Clutch, I was impressed by how Quokka Labs jumped into being my thought partner. We were only in initial discussions, but they gave me recommendations and suggestions all the same. Their willingness to work with my ideas, no matter how challenging, also stood out. We formed a true partnership.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $25,000–$30,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since June 2021. The product we’re working on is very complex and has to evolve over time, so they’re providing ongoing support, currently.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve received some feedback from external parties and user research to determine whether the app is working and connecting properly to our Bluetooth device. We’re working to keep it as bug-free and critical-bug-free as possible.

How did Quokka Labs perform from a project management standpoint?

Their work is exceptional, and their communication may even be better than mine. If I haven’t responded as quickly as I should, then they’ll follow up kindly, ensuring that we stick to our timeline.

In terms of tools, we use Jira and Google meet, as well as WhatsApp, occasionally.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re exceptionally talented. I know Quokka is a younger firm — started within the past two years ‚ but you won’t be able to tell. They’re highly professional, and they ramp up faster than internal employees. They’re a very impressive team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. I’m so grateful I found them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be open to other ideas. People hire consulting firms but their ideas remain exactly the same. Quokka will bring in a different perspective, so be humble and open. The work will turn out much better than you expect it to.

Our company hired Quokka Labs to design a Prototype for our startup idea which we had been working on for about 5 months.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted Quokka Labs to come up with user-Friendly design modules and create a web-app. We had a limited time constraint if 9 days and Quokka Labs delivered.

We chose Quokka Labs because of their willingness to help and the quality of their products. The employees are experienced and they pitched a price which was fair.

We had a series of meetings to discuss our goals and objectives. Within the first week, we received mockups and initial designs for the Android app.

After a few discussions, we finalized the design and provided feedback. Quokka Labs reached back to us with the product in 3 days after that and they delivered 3 modifications in a week.

What was the team composition?

Initially, we were assigned to work with the Sales Manager, but once the app-building was in progress we worked with the design expert and the CTO of Quokka Labs

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Our idea has been approved by the Drexel incubator, we have pitched it to 3 VCs and they had provided us positive feedbacks.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The sales manager who was assigned to us was very cooperative. The designer did an excellent job and provided us with several mockups.

The CTO made numerous changes within 3 days and the team at Quokka Labs was able to handle the changing requirements very efficiently.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I am impressed with the designs and suggestions. The team at Quokka Labs is experienced and willing to help in any way possible.

Are there any areas for improvement?

There is always a scope of improvement, but I am more than happy with the product delivered.

I think a few more demonstrations of the ongoing project would make a big difference to the module.

Please describe your company and your position there.

The EU-India Technical Cooperation Project: Energy, is formed under the joint collaboration of the European Union and the Government of India. The project is operational since September 2014 and has provided its assistance to the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (Ministry Of Power), Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE).

The project provides beneficiaries and participants with the opportunity to enhance their technical and institutional capacity. The major aim is to create an enabling environment for the implementation of climate-friendly energy-efficient technologies through increasing awareness amongst public and private sectors. I am currently working under the project as an Indian Expert.

The EU India TCP, amongst other activities, is also cooperating with MNRE for the effective implementation of the Off-Grid Solar Scheme. In this regard, we hired Quokka labs for the development of an IT system for the management of the solar street light part of the scheme.

The goal of the system which comprised of a web portal and a mobile application was to effectively manage the stakeholders and the process and ultimately map the solar street lights that are being installed across India.

We were looking for a company that would deliver based on our and the MNRE's expectation, withing the defined timeline and in a budget. The project had also cooperated with Quokka Labs, previously for other IT tools and our previous experience played a crucial role in their selection.

Development of the IT system comprising of a mobile application and a web portal assisting MNRE in the effective implementation of the programme by tracking the actual number of solar street lights installed across India in association with the state nodal agencies and the empanelled vendors.

Deliverables - Web Portal & Mobile Application Features - Offline operations, geo-mapping of the systems, sanction management, notification through emails.

The IT system will be used to map the 3,00,000 solar street lights that will be installed across India.

We had weekly meetings with the project manager. However, the team was available anytime for discussions. The team provided apt solutions and recommendations for the requirements which were incorporated in the final developed version of the IT tool.

The project results have been VERY encouraging. The company has decided to take the product to live shortly looking at the result of the development effort. The Project has a big impact as it will enable IAS aspirants to get training from world-class teachers in an online mode.

Quokkalabs was VERY transparent on the project status during the project execution. They utilized all the best practices which enabled me to keep a tab on the project status.

They shared a dashboard with me, they installed a system on a staging environment which enabled our team to be aligned with the project status and plan accordingly.
