I cannot tell you how impressed I have been with the outcome of the design. The designers could not have met my vision more perfectly and all of the ideas they had to add things I never thought of was mind blowing.

The project managers were extremely easy to work with, they were very attentive to emails and any changes that were requested.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The most impressive aspect was the ability of my vision to come to the screen. The team was extremely thorough of every detail of the app and how the flow of the app should be.

I have zero direction for anything different that could have been done. They exceeded my expectations.

I am the VP of product and operations at Wade & Wendy. We are an HR tech company and we focus on recruitment automation. We help companies automate the top and middle of funnel for their recruitment efforts.

We do this by taking job descriptions, parsing them, pulling apart the relevant information so that we can create ad campaigns that go out to our database and to the public at large. We also create chatbots that engage with the candidates.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with QubStudio?

Recruitment is a multistage and messy process. There are lots of different touchpoints and when you are automating it, you need to make sure that you have a good throughline and customer journey, and that is for both the candidates as well as the recruiters. 

There’s also the component of how we manage the orchestration on the backend. It is a pretty complicated element, and we hired QubStudio so that we could try to take a lot of the different designs we had for various parts of the product and make it more cohesive.

We had originally reached out to them to work on an analytics dashboard to showcase some analytics that we have on how the product works to our recruiters. A lot of what we do, we just do in the background.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We were working out some of the parsing mechanics and how that would look in the product. We have now really built out more refined versions of three of our different platforms for our talent, our admin, and our recruiters with QubStudio. 

We are automating the recruiting process so that recruiters don’t have to send or respond to emails or take phone calls at the start. In order to better communicate that to the recruiter, we worked with QubStudio to create a series of analytics dashboards that to show recruiters so that they could understand the system’s health. 

That then led to a revamp of our recruiter space which is a recruiter’s dashboard. It then quickly bled over into our admin portal where we can see and monitor our system to see how candidates are progressing through the different jobs and the overall different client health, and the job health in the system. 

They built out a management portal for us that sits somewhere between a CRM and an ATS. It is our central repository where we control the system. We also worked on some functionality on our talent-focused dashboard. 

As we have worked more and more with QubStudio, the scope has grown, and we’ve taken on different projects and different initiatives as we have gone forward. We are currently working with them on building that into a more gamified approach which will have quizzes and personal assessments. 

What is the team composition?

As we have gone along, we have grown the team. We started out with two teammates: a senior designer and his co-designer. We now have three designers, a project manager, and business analysts. We work with a team of five on their end.

How did you come to work with QubStudio?

I believe I found them through Clutch. I have used Clutch before to locate different firms and had a good experience. I started my search fairly broad, looking at a couple of different geographies. 

I wanted something more cost-effective than the US. I scoped out two companies to see how the relationship might work with them. I then reached out to QubStudio through Clutch, went through their references on the site, and contacted them. 

They responded quickly and were professional in nature. I presented them with the project scope. We had a call to clarify and discuss it with them, and they were again pretty responsive. The calls went well, and I could tell that they were a professional operation. I contacted a couple of their references and went from there.

We’ve spent over $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We have been working together since May 2020. The partnership is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

For us, the success is based on whether the design meets the criteria needed and whether it is accepted by all the stakeholders who are going to be using the product or have ownership over that part of our organization, as well as if it’s done in a timely fashion.

Overall, we judge success by looking to see if the design is done up to spec to solve our issue, if the stakeholders accepted it, if they are happy with it, and if it is implementable. By those measures, it has been a very good success for us.

How did QubStudio perform from a project management standpoint?

We have a Hangout call every morning at 8 a.m. They are based in Ukraine so for my team, that 8 a.m. call ensures that we get together every day and I can pull in the different stakeholders. It is obviously a lot easier because everyone is working from home right now to do that, but that is what we do.

We also have them in our joint Slack channel that we use for quick communication. One of the days of the week, we only talk about ticketing and versioning, and then we use Google Suite spreadsheets and slides for passing back and forth different information to help frame the designs. 

QubStudio primarily uses Figma which has been awesome. It has really helped the designs come to life and our previous designer did not do that. That has been a game-changer. Figma has been great as we can get feedback on the designs and show demos easily.

What did you find most impressive about them?

It has been top-notch across all aspects. There is minimal hand-holding. We have a very complicated product and a very complicated industry, and it took them a while to get up to speed about it, but that’s just the nature of it. 

However, once they started to get it, they were very proactive in bringing forward ideas about what was needed, about really understanding the end-to-end product. They started to see how different pieces of it connected one to the next so that we could make sure that our designs for one aspect of it wouldn’t hinder another aspect.

That has just been fantastic, and I don’t have to be so in the weeds because they are also thinking in that way. QubStudio brings a really strong sense of professionalism. Additionally, they care; they aren’t just trying to clock hours. They also take direction well. 

We iterate on all the stuff that we do regularly. They don’t get bent out of shape because something doesn’t work. We just talk about it and go onto the next iteration. 

Those are just some of the pieces that separate them from others, but all the other pieces that go into a typical relationship are all there. They are professional, have great attention to detail, and have great communication skills. They are also prompt, and it has been a well-oiled machine thus far.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The charting package that we ended up using to implement the analytics stuff was different than what was originally proposed, so maybe that could have been improved, but there is not much at all that could have been improved, to be honest.

I don’t see a lot of ways they could have improved thus far. I think it has been pretty excellent top to bottom. We didn’t get the BA on the outset but that was not their fault; that is just what was scoped for our relationship. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Do your homework and make sure that you are coming and giving them the best chance of success by presenting them with a cohesive vision and a cohesive product plan. Also, make sure that you are investing the time to get it right because they can do incredible work, but they need regular feedback and collaboration from you. 

I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone that wants to work with QubStudio. Make sure that you come prepared to have the best project possible. Let them direct you to how to make that happen because they will do a good job with that.

I'm co-founder and CEO of an early stage stealth consumer startup. We are developing Heyoh - personal video calling app for friends. Heyoh uses augmented reality to highlight users’ nonverbal behavior and add game-like interactions which make video calls engaging and fun.

We needed to design our MVP solution. For this we needed to do more in-depth research into our core target audience, define the value proposition and features best suited for them, and develop innovative designs for these features that would differentiate our app from others in the crowded marketplace.

MVP of iOS application design with live video-calling UI, animated masks and backgrounds for user interaction

How did you select this vendor?

We reviewed several design studios and decided to go with Qubstudio due to their extensive experience with mobile app design and work with early stage startups

Once we selected Qubstudio we had two discovery workshops on the first week, during which they helped us to prepare lean business canvas for our startup, drill down to the core of our prospective target audience and prepared initial Information Architecture chart.

Then for next two weeks Qubstudio developed initial UI screens for video call functionality and masks and backgrounds. We have done 3 iterations on masks and backgrounds where Qubstudio had taken and used our feedback to improve the designs.

As output of the project we received IA scheme for video calling and overall for the app, high rez UI designs for video calling, 5 high rez call effects and 2 complex animated backgrounds.

We heard great feedback about Qubstudio in the market, but working in-person with them really showed us that Qubstudio excels not only in innovative design, but also has a tight and very organized process - which is typically rare when one works with creative design agencies.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Qubstudio really exceeded our expectations during this project. The project took a little bit longer than planned (by a couple of days) - but this is understandable considering how much work was needed to be done.

What challenge were you trying to address with QubStudio?

We were starting our project from the very beginning, and we were searching for a company that could create everything we needed from a design standpoint.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

I started by giving them the idea, and then they provided us with all the documentation for the project. The business analyst discovered the market, what would be needed, and then created the wireframes.

They created our logo, and then they did the market research for us. When the design was done, it was not only the design but the full roadmap of the project where everything was described, including all the technical requirements.

The team provided us with great advice about how to create user-friendly designs. It was a great start to see how everything would work. After that, they did the design for all the pages of our product and then created the brand book for us, user journey maps, and they also helped us with graphic elements for our ad campaigns. The team also created a pitch deck for potential investors.

When users use our system, they know exactly where to go and what to click, which we’re excited about. The team used JavaScript for the frontend framework, and they might’ve used PHP and Laravel.

We had a team of close to 10 people that included a project manager, a business analyst, a senior UX/UI designer, a graphic designer, and a few middle designers.

I researched a lot of different companies. We decided to work with QubStudio because they have not only great designers and a beautiful design portfolio but also really skilled business analysts.

I liked that I would get a full team that could do the whole project by themselves, and I wouldn’t need to add external resources.

The project went from May–July 2020. They now help me from time to time when I need extra support.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The working prototype is live, and we have some customers that have been totally satisfied. The users clearly understood how to use the system without any description or onboarding because the interfaces are simple. The feedback has been positive.

I would’ve liked to have worked with them longer, but due to the budget, we will wait until our project fully starts and brings in money for us. We will definitely come back to QubStudio to create the next version of our project.

How did QubStudio perform from a project management standpoint?

It was very good. The team at QubStudio knew what to do and how to do it, and they managed a very good team. They got all the specifications from me and the other stakeholders, and I can’t say anything bad about it.

We’re absolutely satisfied. I don’t remember exactly which project management tools they used, but we typically communicated through email, Slack, and Skype calls with the team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their skills in business analytics are the most impressive. Their expertise in UX and UI is also noteworthy. There are a lot of studios that can draw something beautiful, but QubStudio knows how to draw it right so that the client is satisfied. They even advised me on how it could be better.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m satisfied. Right now, I don’t have any additional comments on how they can become better.

Trust them because they know their work, and they know how to make it better. Don’t think you know everything; trust the professionals and you will see the results.

We’re known in the market for our leading UI/UX designs. Our initial product was built four years ago, and we needed to upgrade it to a next-generation platform. Our team wanted to give the frontend a new UX to bring the platform to the next level and to keep up with technology trends.

What was the scope of their involvement?

QubStudio helped redesign the frontend of our platform using Figma. They designed the money transfer, bill payment, and login features. Their team helped with some other features as well. They touched everything on the platform. Users can transfer money, do remote deposits, pay bills, view their recent transactions and balances, and can even talk to the conversational AI bot that we have within the app.

During the first three months, they worked almost full-time with us and finished the whole platform. Now, we call on them when we want to make minor tweaks or add new features.

They have really good UI/UX designs. Their team comes up with ideas we never thought of. We’re impressed with them.

How did QubStudio perform from a project management standpoint?

If we need anything, we just ask. QubStudio is very responsive, helpful, and organized. We hold meetings twice a week. They design and then send the work to us for feedback. We then talk about it together. It started with wireframes to collect all the ideas and then to collect the requirements. Their team makes adjustments according to our feedback.

QubStudio is very good at communication, and they do their market research to understand what the best UX is. They give recommendations as well. We can make comments directly on Figma. We use Slack, but I mostly rely on email to talk with them because then I can attach screenshots. We do screen-sharing and use all kinds of tools.

Their team has a really good UI/UX sense. They have a different perspective and can come up with something unique and very user-friendly.

We needed an application with a unique and easy to use on-boarding flow for users of the Attrace network. The jobs included front-end an back-end.

My team did a web search, after several meetings and checking their work, we selected the UX team of Qub.

Once we selected Qub as our UX vendor we had several (online) discovery meetings. Within two weeks they delivered the first designs in Figma to our front-end team. Qub was involved in the designing and was highly involved in our front-end team. Especially the projectmanager Mayya did a great jobm organizing weekly stand ups and managing front-end tasks.

They worked closely with us to craft an application that was unique and user friendly. Their responsiveness level was really important to us. They were willing to utilize a Slack and Telegram group and speak directly with us about progress.

They did a great job managing everything. They kept things on the timeline and worked really fast. They understood what we needed them to do. In this regard, their creative team did a really good job

They always responded to us quickly, were very open, and all at reasonable prices. I’m impressed with their work. Price, open communication and fast responsiveness were the most impressive
