We've engaged the Qodeca team on multiple occasions to solve our development needs. Primary projects include 1) building and managing internal operations software products for CRM, Sales and Appointment booking, 2) a customer-facing mobile app where our customers can manage their account, make purchases and book services, and 3) website development and ongoing maintenance/updates. Our projects with Qodeca are constantly evolving to meet our business needs - they execute new features, maintain large scale products and are readily available to pivot and update web properties for new business requirements and updates. 

The Qodeca team is our go-to resource for Business Analysis, UX/UI design and Development. Throughout our partnership they have utilized a tech stack that includes Azure, NET Core and SQL Server for a suite of back-office applications and scalable web-facing products to meet our needs.

We've been able to lower costs on third-party software and streamline operational functions across 26 locations - the platforms that Qodeca has built and maintained for us allow us to manage and define operational standards, cut costs, and evolve within the industry to offer something that no other competitor does. 
We manage priorities that allow the business to define what updates and features align with current objectives - the Qodeca team always delivers a quality product that meets defined requirements and enables us to meet those business needs.

Qodeca is the most reliable team I've ever worked with - their tracking and reporting procedures ensure regular and comprehensive progress reports. Since we have worked with multiple Qodeca teams over the last several years, I think the most notable thing about how they operate is how invested in the success of the projects these teams are -  committed to the success of the client, yes, but also personally invested in the product. I’m the chairperson and co-founder of the Codos Foundation, a nonprofit foundation based in Switzerland currently working on a project.

What challenge were you trying to address with Qodeca?

We engaged with Qodeca for mobile app development.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

In cooperation with Qodeca, we developed a proof of concept (POC) for our mobile app, focusing on iOS development first. Initially, we provided them with some documentation, and we then had a workshop in Poland before starting the whole process. We made a bigger presentation at that workshop and provided a small feasibility study.

Once both parties had the full scope of the project and requirements, we entered into a POC agreement. Initially, we decided to develop the POC for iOS because iOS’ standards are higher than Android’s. Therefore, it would be easier in the future to build the product for Android. Qodeca’s work included app development and UI/UX design on Figma.

What is the team composition?

We worked with around 5–7 teammates from Qodeca, including Marcin (Founder & CEO), Damian (Frontend Developer), an iOS developer, a project manager, and two UI/UX designers.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around May 2022, and Qodeca delivered the POC in November 2022. Since then, we’ve been focusing on fundraising and partnership expansion. We’re still in touch with Qodeca because we’re very open to working with them for the MVP development phase.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Qodeca’s design and development work was well-done — their designs were very nice. They created an excellent demo of the app with a great UI, as well as some useful mock-up videos for their designs. We were very happy with those deliverables — their work was excellent.

As for the app development side of our engagement, the mobile app was very stable — there were no crashes or bugs. Qodeca delivered a very solid and fast product. The app hasn’t been launched yet — it’s still on the Testflight store. Still, we’re very satisfied with it. The testers enjoyed using the app, and the results were satisfactory. Overall, we received a great and functional product.

How did Qodeca perform from a project management standpoint?

Qodeca’s project management was perfect. The project manager was very active and reasonable. Additionally, we were happy with Damian. He was great and solved problems quickly, and we had very good communication.

On top of that, Qodeca was able to adapt to our needs and deliver on time, which was very important. Their team had a very nice structure, and our meetings were always efficient and started on time. We used Jira and Slack to collaborate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I really liked the way Qodeca approached the entire partnership. Everything was very interactive, and they managed to build trust, creating a personal connection. We visited them two times in Poland. The first time, we had a very friendly meeting where we didn’t really talk about work, which was nice for a change.

During the workshop, Qodeca also implemented some private activities, which helped us a lot during the due diligence process in gaining trust. Moreover, their team agreed to do a bigger workshop before engaging in a more comprehensive development phase, which was very nice. That approach mitigates the risk and commitment on the client’s side.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There was nothing Qodeca could have done better. They did everything very well.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Take the time to get to know Qodeca. Their CEO is very nice and does a great job on the management and organizational side. As the head of the company, he’ll take the time to get to know you. Therefore, you should leverage making a personal connection with him.

In addition to that, Qodeca sets clear guidelines. Thus, whether you’re a very early start-up or an established company, they’ll suggest a very clear structure. Still, they’re very flexible.

I’m the CEO and founder of MedSimples, a startup marketplace where doctors can manage their workforce and use our tools to assist them with onboarding, management, payments, and other processes.

Qodeca has helped me build my company from scratch. They first helped us define how the solution would work and integrate payment systems, agendas, and other features into a single system. Then, they came back with a solution, and we decided to use Microsoft Azure to build it. Additionally, they’ve adapted the solution to manage over 40,000 doctors.

Currently, we have version two of the solution. Throughout the project, Qodeca has implemented all the new demands we have for the software.

I regularly communicate with their CEO, a project manager, and another teammate. However, we’ve worked with up to 15 teammates from Qodeca during the development phase. The team size varies depending on what we’re doing at the moment.

I’m the founder and CEO of SparkLabs Foundry, a company that provides innovation software and platform services for mid-market businesses and Global 2000 companies around the world.

What challenge were you trying to address with Qodeca?

We hired Qodeca for a web development project and to build our platform. 

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Initially, Qodeca developed a standard HTML website for us. We went through a scoping exercise, which consisted of three phases. The first phase involved the layout of the website, and the second phase was for its content. Finally, the third phase was for the texts, colors, and other attributes of the website. It contained information for end users, form submissions for sales, and some downloadable brochures.

For the platform development project, the process was almost the same. We went through the process of identifying the elements that we wanted, and they broke them down into distinct phases. This project was more complex and involved the ingestion of millions of records from small startups and companies. We also compiled structured and unstructured data and created filters to segment the companies based on size, location, and other criteria. 

Moreover, Qodeca wanted to build the platform on Microsoft Azure, and I complied with that because it was based on their Microsoft expertise, which involved Azure, business intelligence, and power analytics. These things also helped with the platform’s scalability. On top of that, Azure allowed them to adopt a quick development process. Apart from the design and development tasks, Qodeca also helped me out with brand guidelines, alpha and beta testing, and deployment — they worked with me from soup to nuts. 

At present, they provide maintenance services for us.

We work with about six people from Qodeca, including the project manager.

How did you come to work with Qodeca?

Qodeca was recommended to me by someone I’d worked with on several other projects. Their services also came in with a highly attractive price, and I had a good feeling about their UI/UX designers. They were also professionals, so I hired them.

We’ve spent between $50,000–$70,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

Our work started in September 2019, and the partnership is ongoing, although the development finished around September 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve received solid customer testimonials from individuals who have tested our platform. In fact, we’ve closed around 15 customers through it. We’ve also raised money, so we’re totally pleased with the results. Quantitatively, we’ve achieved around 33% gain in productivity. 

Anecdotally, I’ve given feedback on the color palettes and typography, and Qodeca’s UI/UX designer truly understands my vision. As a result, they’ve been able to design and build the platform quickly. Finally, from a cost-benefit perspective, I never would have done these projects in the US with another company.

Qodeca’s project management is good. They’ve finished the project below our budget and ahead of timelines. To manage the project, we’ve used different tools like Jira and Asana. To communicate, we use regular phone calls and emails.

Sometimes, it’s hard to communicate and understand them because of their strong accent. However, we’re getting better at communicating.

Define the exact scope of the project upfront. You can define it in phases to help ease some of the financial burden upfront. That’s been truly helpful in our engagement.

One of the products that Qodeca has built for us is a mobile application where our customers can manage their membership and book our services.
