UTOR’s team tested our application successfully. Our app is very complex and contains many moving parts. Before we started working with UTOR, it was frequently crashing. By the end of our project, all the problems we’d experienced were solved.

We work with a QA resource and their CEO, who acted as a quality controller.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

UTOR has helped us find more than 25 critical issues, which we’ve fixed to save our users from experiencing glitches.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

UTOR works through our Trello, creating tasks with either screenshots or videos and detailed descriptions of the bug they found. The assigned QA engineer is easy to communicate with via Slack and delivers good quality.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Not only have they delivered what we asked for, but they’ve also provided countless suggestions to improve the app’s UX and technical performance. I really appreciate that.

UTOR checks all the features to make sure they’re working the way they are supposed to be. They collaborate with our remote team. Their team performs manual QA testing on mobile applications and websites.

We’ve worked with UTOR on three or four projects. We enjoy their services. When we need a QA, I talk with their manager, and he appoints someone. I interview them, checking their technical and communication skills.

We started working together in May 2017, and the services are ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Each of our teams has their metrics and a leader that sets up weekly goals. My team makes sure everything is on time and done correctly. We’re happy with UTOR’s services.

How did UTOR perform from a project management standpoint?

UTOR is extremely responsive. We have weekly, and sometimes daily, meetings. We use Asana to create tasks for their team. They work fast and keep it updated. Slack is our primary tool for communication.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their team provides terrific work, even when some of our applications are in a different language. UTOR is a collaborative and communicative agency. Their team is friendly and focused. We enjoy working with UTOR.

No, UTOR is a great team.

Talk with Sergey (CEO & Founder, UTOR) and see how you feel about them. Different companies have different cultures. We believe in collaboration, communication, and quality, so their team works well with our company. Work with them once to see if it's a good fit.

I'm a Staff Engineer at Tempest Tech Limited, responsible for leading browser projects at our startup. Tempest Tech Limited specializes in developing privacy-focused products for the Internet, including browsers, search engines, and VPN solutions.

For what projects/services did your company hire QA UTOR?

As a startup, we outsource certain tasks when feasible. We looked for an external QA team to execute extensive test plans for our desktop browsers, which supports both Windows and MacOS platforms, and is built on the Chromium engine.

As we release updates on a periodic basis, once per month, we were looking for a part-time QA team who could verify that the next version is ready for production.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We posted the task on Upwork and conducted a two-step interview process. The first step involved an interview with management to verify the background of the companies and explain our expectations and requirements. Based on these criteria, the UTOR provided a QA specialist for the second technical interview, which was great and fulfilled our expectations.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

Initially, we provided the UTOR QA team with a list of minimal acceptable tests for our product, which needed to be executed on the desktop browser for two platforms to ensure proper functionality. Later, the QA team helped us to improve and expand this list, and also incorporate additional processes into the QA steps in the project.

Together, we developed a release schedule that took into account all aspects of the project's development. Also, after learning and understanding the project and it complexity, QA team also start processing exploratory tests for each release (usually we released one version per month).

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We worked directly with 2 manual testers, part time (about 25 hours/week). Later with one of tester we start implementing automation tests.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

UTOR provided an exceptional and skilled QA team that met our needs. Testing a desktop application is not common these days, so it was a pleasure to work with a team that fulfilled our expectations. The team always completed tests on time and we did not encounter any critical issues in production after release.

They usually identified any critical issues before release. We released major updates for product every month, including minor updates 2 to 3 times per month, with the confidence that the updates were of high quality.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

As a global company with presence in multiple locations worldwide, we using English as our primary language for communication. The QA team integrated seamlessly into our development team and we never experienced any communication issues.

They followed our processes such as sprint planning, daily standup, and retrospective meetings, and were considered them as a part of our team all the time. Despite working part-time, they were always responsive and available for quick communication (via Slack) or online calls when necessary.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Communication was easy and smooth, not only did we work with the QA team but also managers from UTOR, who remained in contact and checked on the progress of the project. When one of the QA team members had to leave for personal reasons, UTOR promptly provided a qualified replacement for the vacant position.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

It's hard to pinpoint anything specific. We had a great experience, the team was always responsive and reliable.
