I’m the CTO and co-founder of Zizoo. We’re an online boat rental platform.

What challenge were you trying to address with Q Software?

We’ve worked on multiple projects with Q Software. Our first engagement focused on revamping our CMS that wasn’t flexible enough to meet our scalability needs. Additionally, our user dashboard was outdated and needed to allow users to manage their accounts and booking more effectively. We didn’t have the in-house budget or time to fix the tool on our own.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

For our first project, they assessed our issues and customized our system’s landing pages to make it more easily modifiable for users.

The second project is more significant, as we needed an updated user dashboard. They developed the platform with Symfony, PHP, and React.js. Their team was integrated some of our existing APIs, but the system was entirely standalone from our current platform. They delivered an entirely new system that we incorporated into our other products.

They assigned us a dedicated project manager who I work with directly.

How did you come to work with Q Software?

I had known Q Software for 4–5 years and had good experiences with them. Whenever we need something, we refer back to them.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in 2017, and our current project is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

After the landing pages were updated, we saw a significant drive in conversions on our side. We’ve also seen high engagement after Q Software implemented the new elements to our dashboard. Every feature fulfills its purpose and meets our expectations.

How did Q Software perform from a project management standpoint?

They handle the project with a scrum process. Q Software arranges the work so I am only lightly involved, which has made it one of the better experiences I’ve had. I meet with my project manager to discuss expectations, issues and explain our technologies to their team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

From our first interaction, Q Software was quick to build a good relationship with us through their fast communication. Their team follows up on every email. They are prompt and professional with every task, and they are accommodating to our needs.

Staying engaged with them throughout the process helps keep your project prioritized. To get the best results, approach them with the same professionalism and openness that they give to you.

We’ve had a few jobs trickle through and four new customer inquiries as a direct result of the new Google profile and landing page. We’ve also been able to refer people to the page to showcase our work.

Deployment of finished code.

Never have I wasted so much money. Nothing went smoothly. The developers lacked experience and wrote some of the worst quality code we've ever seen. We're still dealing with their bugs more than a year later. This relationship almost tanked my business.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

It was impressive how much they kept charging us for such poor performance. Their lack of speed and efficiency was equally impressive.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Q agency could have done differently?

Pretty much everything should have been better.

We have many clients that we have worked with successfully for over 6+ years building thriving ongoing relationships. A few notes in response to your comments:

• you are critical of our developers, but you (unsuccessfully) tried to poach them from Q to work directly for you
• all of our suggestions for process & delivery improvements were declined, even though we have great working relationships with many startups and enterprise companies and a track record across 100s of companies in building value
• you mistreated our team members to the fact many of them asked (and were granted) to be moved on some of our other projects
• you insisted on managing everything by yourself (since you are a one-man-band) and refused any help we offered multiple times

Given the fact we ended our relationship almost two years ago after your unsuccessful attempt to poach our employees, we cannot see your review as anything other than a malicious attempt to undermine our credibility, but still, we wish you the best of luck in your future endeavors and hope you found the right partner for your business.

With the assistance of the Q developers, we have been able to build a control panel that will work for 85 Norwegian municipalities, plus all Nordic partner countries.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

The project was managed from Norway, with the Q developers located in Croatia. When the project started for real, this has been an effective way of working together.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Q's strength is their ability to follow up on questions from their clients at short notice. Nothing seems impossible.
