The project was to create a fully automated server/appliance loading process.

The goal was to create an appliance that could be sold in hundreds or thousands of units around the globe. The main idea behind the project was to create a fully automated system that would load a base virtualized Operating System and all of the additional components in an automated fashion.

This process allowed us as a company to pre-load 1600+ fully virtualized servers in less than 9 months and sell them globally.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Reduced manual labor from 1 work day (8 hours) to 30 minutes per server.

So far, we have saved 12000 man-hours on 1600 servers that we have sold.

Achieved 100% scripted configuration of Proxmox environments, including LVM storage pools and VLAN-aware bridges.

Automated Fusion VM installation using Proxmox’s “qm sendkey” command to simulate keystrokes during ISO setup and initial configuration.

Reduced log storage bloat through hourly cleanup of files exceeding 100MB.

Validated wireless hotspot stability across multiple hardware configurations.

Implemented API-driven Fusion license registration via RG Nets endpoints.

The project had a few unexpected deliverables that were added along the way. Protek did well in accommodating the expanded scope of work.

We were working on a very outdated server and programs; Protek outlined the changes we needed to make and gave us a realistic timeline to make them.  As a result our systems and employees are working much more efficiently.  Their customer service is second to none.  Our man office is in Los Angeles and we have a remote employee in Tampa - given the time difference of 3 hours - Our Tampla employee always has access to an IT representative.

Some of our requirements included working with our stakeholders to collect and document requirements Onboarding of sub vendors ( structured cabling contractor and voice over ip telephony vendor)  as well as take responsibility for the overall project management and delivery to requirements. Additionally, ProTek IT Solutions  took on the acquisition, engineering and deployment of our high availability fully redundant network infrastructure in both of our building as well as negotiations with our existing ISP and on-boarding secondary ISP for redundancy.

Complete cut-over to the new network wall rack and network equipment at secondary location and the network is fully up and running and tested.

The level of communication, documentation ( both technical and training ) was easily the best I've seen in my plus 25 years in the industry. ProTek IT Solutions was one of the easiest engineering consultancies I've ever worked with.

Found and contracted a tier 3 datacenter rack with redundant power & contracted 2X ISPs for primary and backup internet. New network, server and SAN equipment spec’d and ordered. All hardware configured installed, cabled, labeled, etc.  Servers and SAN setup with VMware 7.0 and vCenter Cluster. Setup VPN tunnels to old datacenter colocation and configured Veeam replication of all storage and VMs. Cutover infrastructure to new datacenter and pointed all new public DNS FQDNs to new datacenter.

Fully highly available and redundant power/internet/network/server/storage environment configured and implemented.

Infrastructure fully replicated to a datacenter on the opposite coast of the country.

Datacenter migrated from a very low tier Telepacific datacenter to a Tier 3 Datacenter.

Customer’s entire storage and virtual server infrastructure migrated to a new datacenter using Veeam incremental replication. Outage window was only a few hours.

We just moved into a new 10,000 square foot building and inherited some Meraki equipment, access points and AV equipment. We had no access to the firewall and and additional equipment. We needed help gaining access to the equipment and ensuring our internet was working and our firewall wasn't interfering with our CRM. 
They were able to help us navigate the process of gaining access to our equipment by getting on calls from the previous owner, mapping out the building, doing multiple equipment tests and ultimately, getting everything up and running smoothly.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Within a matter of weeks, we had full access to our equipment and more fully understood how it integrates with our AV equipment. They walked us through the process in detail and offered advice along the way. Our sales team was able to call in and out from our CRM with no issues. The internet worked great with no issues! We setup our account for our access points and switches.

ProTek was incredibly responsive. Each call ended with a clear plan of action and to-do items.
