I’m the owner of a small donut and coffee shop that’s yet to be open. This shop will serve a small neighborhood as a warm and friendly place.

What challenge were you trying to address with Prolific Digital?

I needed help with further developing the logo and creating the packaging for my donut and coffee shop. Initially, I thought that I would do the branding myself, but I then realized that I didn’t have the time to do so. Therefore, I hired Prolific Digital to help me.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We started the engagement with an introduction and a listening session with Prolific Digital’s designer, where I talked about my needs. Then, they came back with a proposal and a quote. We decided to focus on packaging development because, as a small business, I couldn’t afford a full-service branding project.

After agreeing on the scope, Prolific Digital presented some ideas for my packaging. Although they might have done some research on their end to come up with those designs, their approach was mostly matching the branding with my personality, which was what I wanted.

Throughout this process, I also presented Prolific Digital with some ideas I had for the colors and the look and feel. I wanted the designs to match the interior design of my shop, which wasn’t the typical minimalist design that the average donut shop has these days. We then refined those ideas until I was satisfied with the result.

Finally, Prolific Digital handed the designs over to me — it was a straightforward process. The deliverables included designs for my donut packaging and disposable cup sleeves, as well as a logo tagline.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Prolific Digital created something much better than I would have come up with on my own.

How did Prolific Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

Prolific Digital was great at communicating. We agreed on a price in advance, so I didn’t experience any overages. Additionally, they used different technologies to collaborate. We communicated via Slack, and they used a tool to send video and audio updates.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed by how well Prolific Digital listened and captured my preferences for the brand personality in their designs.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I’m an older person, so the fact that I had to learn how to use a communication platform in order to communicate with Prolific Digital was a little cumbersome. Thus, it would be great if they asked their clients what their preferred method of communication is. I was fine because I had used Slack before, but it would have been easier for me if we had communicated via email. Other than that, I was very happy with the job they did.

Have a good idea of the personality aspects that you want to capture for your business and be able to articulate them to help Prolific Digital with the design process.

Biscuit Belly is a craft casual breakfast and brunch concept that is rapidly growing through the southeast. We serve from-scratch biscuits with chef driven recipes that will make your mouth water. As the Director of Marketing I oversee all creative design, messaging, and strategy for the brand and our franchise partners.

For what projects/services did your company hire Prolific Digital, and what were your goals?

Overall creative support with the opportunity to create physical signage for limited time offers, digital ads, and breathe new life into our internal documents.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I've previously worked with the owner and lead designer and know their talents are incomparable to any other agency in town. Their passion alone will help get you the results you want to see.

While this is an ongoing relationship, Prolific recently completed creating a series of digital ads specific for social media for Derby week. As it's a huge week for us in Louisville, the objective is to raise awareness of Biscuit Belly while out of towners are looking for a new, exciting place to brunch. After just a couple of meetings, they were able to brainstorm ideas and with feedback position this campaign to be right on brand and relevant for our brand.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We were supported with at least three team members. Chris, the founder of Prolific, Jason who designed the campaign and Nyjah, our wonderful account manager who helps manage all of our communication and ideas.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Not quite yet as they're active but we will hopefully have results in May.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Incredibly effective. They were able to work on tight schedules and keeping our meetings short but meaningful as to not take up too much of anyone's day.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their drive and passion is the first thing you'll notice about Prolific. They're hungry for work and we have plenty to give them, so I'm excited to see where they can take our creative and digital marketing to the next level as we continue to learn more about our working styles.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Genuinely I don't have any feedback for improvement. They're incredibly organized and timely with their responses. They want to be involved and help you succeed.

Prolific was scoped to build a redesigned website, tag the website using google tag manager integrated with necessary tracking pixels from Google and Meta. They were also scoped to build a measurement dashboard pulling from all of our data sources across Google, meta, WooCommerce, Hubspot, and GA. They were scoped to provide CRO, SEO, and CRM recommendations in an effort to increase conversion rates on our ecommerce site. Finally, they were scoped to provide digital media services to plan and execute a paid media program with the goal of increasing revenue on our ecommerce site.

• Met their deadlines and execution goals for relaunching the website with all functionality requirements met.

They dedicated an account manager to guide us through our deliverables and expectations using Notion as the primary hub for all project briefs, scopes, and deliverable review and final delivery.

They worked within our timelines and served as strong partners, remaining flexible, and remaining patient when deadlines were extended, shrunk, or otherwise disrupted due to internal approvals, delays, or otherwise.

A deeper pool of executional partners such as paid media experts would really improve their offerings and ability to deliver on certain digital marketing needs.
