Plus8soft has built our web application from the ground up and has handled the full development cycle. Their team is responsible for frontend, backend, integrations, and QA. We’ve come to them with the concept and business requirements, and they’ve taken ownership of turning that into a working product.In terms of technology, the main deliverables include frontend development in React, including UI implementation and client-side logic. The team also handles backend development in Python, covering core business logic and APIs. Plus8soft also works on third-party integration to connect the application with external systems. Finally, they provide QA and testing throughout the development cycle and deployment support and handover.In terms of third-party integration, the team has worked with external APIs for core business functionality. They’ve also connected to data providers and service platforms that our application relies on. We’ve gotten the application built and delivered within the tight timeline we’re working against. The product has gone from concept to a working web application covering frontend, backend, and the integrations we need. The application handles the core user flows and integration scenarios we designed it around, which validates that the architecture choices hold up.Moreover, we’ve been able to move from development into actual usage of the product, rather than getting stuck in extended pre-launch fixes. The collaboration has been efficient enough that we’re considering Plus8soft for further work, which is probably the most honest signal of success on our side. We wouldn’t be planning a continued relationship if the outcome hadn’t been worthwhile.In terms of metrics, the main ones we pay attention to are time to launch, milestone delivery against the plan, scope completion, and post-delivery stability. Time to launch is the most important metric given the tight schedule we’re working under. Hitting the delivery window is a hard requirement, not a nice-to-have, and that shapes a lot of how we evaluate progress along the way.We also track whether each phase lands close to its planned timing, which gives us a running sense of overall project health rather than waiting until the end to assess it. We also track how much of the originally planned functionality makes it into the delivered product versus what gets deferred or cut. For us, this comes in close to what we’ve scoped, which is a positive signal.Finally, we watch how the product holds up in real-world conditions, which is always a more meaningful test than pre-launch testing alone.In terms of process, we track progress against milestones throughout the project rather than just measure it at the end. The work is broken down into phases tied to specific deliverables, which makes it easier for both sides to see where things stand at any given point.The main checkpoints we track against include feature completion milestones. Core functionality is grouped into logical blocks, and each block has a defined “done” state before moving on to the next. We also have integration milestones. Once integration work is in scope, successful end-to-end connection and data flow with the external systems serve as a clear checkpoint, not just code completion.Moreover, we have QA and testing checkpoints. Testing is tied to feature delivery, so each major piece goes through a verification step before being considered complete. Finally, we have acceptance from our side. We review deliverables as they come in and sign off before the team moves on, which keeps expectations aligned.

Project management is perfect. We communicate via virtual meetings, emails, and messaging apps.One thing worth highlighting is that we’re working under a pretty tight timeline, and the team is flexible and accommodating in adjusting their process to meet our deadlines. That willingness to meet us halfway on scheduling and scope adjustments is genuinely valuable and is a big reason we’d consider working with them again.

What challenge were you trying to address with Plus8soft?

We needed help taking a concept and developing an MVP.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of work done?

Plus8soft built out a knowledge database, developed an initial LLM and website portal, and produced a functional MVP. The MVP focused on NEPA environmental assessments (EA). The website AI chat allowed for project input prompts, sourced from a limited knowledge database, and produced an EA chapter by chapter. It also provided the option to regenerate each chapter following an editor-style review before continuing.

What is the team composition?

I worked directly with three people, and there were at least 3–5 other team members.

How did you come to work with Plus8soft?

We found Plus8soft through a referral from network contacts with the Stanford rugby team. We had an initial network connection and then several informal discussions.

What is the status of this engagement?

We had initial discussions in late fall 2024. The project kicked off in January 2025, and the MVP was ready in April 2025. Work is still pending on the next iterations as I demo the product and seek additional funding.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We sourced data to produce the initial knowledge database, developed the website, and created prompts. The final product spoke for itself; the first iteration worked, and the initial demonstrations were positive. Users had been expecting something like this for about a year, and they were excited to use it. It would decrease document preparation time significantly. The MVP produced an initial draft EA within minutes versus a standard writing process that could take weeks to months.

How did Plus8soft perform from a project management standpoint?

Plus8soft had very open and transparent communication using multiple tools (Teams, Slack, etc.). The product was delivered on time and within budget. We had to pivot a few times related to the complexity of the database size, document sizes, and how to chunk that volume of data into vectors and then token processing. It came down to time, quality, and cost for me and being flexible on what the MVP needed to demonstrate. Plus8soft provided options that allowed me to stay within my budget and still produce a functional MVP.

Not being from a computer tech background, Plus8soft took the time to explain the process and point me toward other resources to learn.
