We worked with pixel to develop new websites with a fresh look and feel, as well as a mobile-centric interface and flow. Key deliverables included a fresh, clean design that reflected our brand, a custom form flow, and they also partnered with another company to manage the content and SEO on the site.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

There were regular meetings to manage the progress on the project and ensure stakeholders had clarity and timelines were met. Key milestones or outcomes included: 

• wireframes to get feedback on design before coding, 
• well organized site map & SEO planning, test site once coding was in progress, 
• to let us get a feel for the backend and what content management would look like. 

Overall, the project was delivered according to promised timeframes and has a positive impact on our customer experience.

The Project Manager, Katrina, who we worked with, was extremely responsive - between email replies and weekly update meetings, we felt like we were always able to get the information that we needed. Items that were delayed were mainly related to our side taking longer to rework content or revise ideas.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

I really liked the process - it was clear that they are professionals in web design, and have a clear and proven process to work through. The staff that I worked with from pixel were responsive and highly competent. I appreciated that they are not a "jack of all trades" company, but bring in partners on parts that are not their specialty - I feel that it's clear in their work that this specialist approach has allowed them become excellent at their core services. Their team was fantastic.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Pixel could have done differently?

There were some times early in the process when the partner company who was working on the SEO and content made some assumptions about our source content and SEO strategy that were incorrect and slowed down the process a bit. While overall the person we worked with from the other company proved to be competent, their level of organization and communication was not quite as high as what pixel provided. 

Working with their partner to sync their processes and ensure that they are performing at the high bar that pixel set would be my only improvement suggestion.

The overall goal was the development of a new custom WordPress theme to sit on top of an existing platform to provide a cost-effective visual overhaul and functional improvement. The deliverables included: 

• Modern website design that fits with our updated branding and is easily navigated 
• Custom Section + Chapter templates that provide info and updates to their members 
• Users can be provided access to edit only specific Section/Chapter pages 
• Website better communicates who we are, inclusive of all transportation professionals 
• Ability to offer French translation without requiring a large amount of resources to implement/maintain

Project completed satisfactorily on time and on budget

Overall good PM, excellent design sense, and good attention to detail. The project was a bit rushed towards the end which resulted in a lack of testing prior to launch but the team was very quick to address any issues that arose immediately after and in the weeks and months following.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

A strong desire to understand our needs and meet them with great attention to detail and excellent design sense. We were looking for a partner who could provide ongoing support after the website redesign and we have found a great one in Pixel. They truly understood our operation, culture, and needs and can provide solutions that are cost-effective for a non-profit with a limited budget. Excellent value and a great team!

Their communication was excellent. Particularly with Christopher, who has been responsive and effective.

Throwing additional development resources on the project to ensure a smoother launch would have been helpful. Ultimately, it was a time crunch that led to some deficiencies.
