We needed to create animated videos to describe our two core mobile apps.

What were your goals for this project?

Our goal was to create a compelling set of videos that clearly and concisely explained the features and benefits of our products. We wanted to have 15- and 30-second spots that could be used for various social media and marketing needs.

We vetted a long list of agencies via an RFP and Studio Pigeon suited our needs best.

They created two spots for each of our products, a 30-second overview and a 10-15-second cut-down. We began by sending them a brief and mood boards, which provided context about our needs, as well as a rough script that outlined the story we wanted to tell. Studio Pigeon thoroughly studied our materials and then refined the script, created characters/personas, and generated a storyboard that brought the project to life. After we approved the storyboard, they transitioned to an animated environment to better visualize the videos’ flow. We went through one more round of approvals, and then they started producing the animation.

They provided incredibly honest feedback and established a dialogue that allowed us to progress quickly, with high-quality conversations on both sides. There was a strong exchange of communication via email. We needed to meet aggressive timelines and Studio Pigeon was up for the task. They helped us hit our milestones and surpassed our expectations.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Executive leadership received the video incredibly well. The videos have driven an above average cost-per-install in social and marketing efforts, which shows that we succeeded in communicating our value proposition.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Studio Pigeon was very comfortable working with distributed teams, seeing as the time difference didn’t affect the quality or quantity of our conversations. We also saw substantial output overnight. The process was fairly lightweight, given the aggressive timelines, so email and a few spreadsheets sufficed for progress tracking.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They offered honest feedback with a focus on producing a better end-result and making things clearer for the consumer. This perspective made them feel less like an agency and more like a true partner. Their bar for quality and experience was quite high, which we greatly appreciated.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I didn’t see any significant areas of improvement. They should keep up the great work.

They created a two-minute animation produced in both English and Russian. They drafted a script, did style and images, created a voiceover, then produced a storyboard, illustrations, and a draft of the clip. After some fine-tuning, they added subtitles.

We had contact with one person throughout the process, who ensured communication with the creative team. The agency was receptive and incorporated all of our feedback.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The clip was only just finalized, but we’ve already received positive feedback from our partners and they’ve agreed to share it within their own networks.

We had a responsive point of contact and our workflow was very smooth.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The agency brought experience with animation production and they established an effective process from the outset. They incorporated our feedback well and within agreed timelines, and they delivered a production with excellent value.

We wanted to make a dynamic catalog for CLAIRVOYANTS, the winning project from an international illustrated children's book competition.

We provided .jpg versions of the illustrations and the screenplay of the video.  Studio Pigeon turned these materials into a moving animated video.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Studio Pigeon produced an animated video that’s three minutes and 25 seconds long. Optional English captions accompany the Polish audio. It’s currently publicly available to watch on YouTube, where it has been viewed 2,011 times and upvoted by 35 users.

The workflow between our two teams was very effective.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Studio Pigeon’s flexibility and open-mindedness impressed me the most.

We have no complaints. Everything Studio Pigeon produced was really at the top level!

We wanted to create a 30-second “about us” video for our website.

We researched companies on Google.

Studio Pigeon was an active partner all the way from our introductory call to the delivery of the final video. They initially provided us with a concept and preliminary script. It wasn’t quite what we were looking for, so I gave them additional feedback on our creative vision and a basic story. Based on that, they quickly understood our vision and moved in that direction with their designs. While our in-house staff provided the script due to some language limitations on their end, they helped us structure it and provided guidelines for how to edit it. As we went through the script revisions, they presented the illustration concepts. We approved the style and they created the animation using our brand’s colors. The final product ultimately became the centerpiece for our rebranded website.

It was a very smooth process. We used email, Google Sheets, and Google Drive for sharing revisions.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The final video met my expectations and was of high quality. We’ve received many compliments on the final product from staff and site visitors alike. I’d definitely consider using Studio Pigeon in the future.

The project manager was quick to address all of our questions and concerns. Our biggest challenge, which was pretty minor, was waiting 24 hours for each new round of revisions or being unable to communicate in real time due to time zone differences.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was amazed by their illustration and video production capabilities. Their turnaround time was also impressively quick.

Are there any areas for improvement?

We’re very satisfied overall with the work we received. As I mentioned above, there's a bit of a lag in communication due to the time zone—it’s not because the team is unresponsive. We also ran into minor delays due to their staff being out for holidays, but that didn’t detract from how much I enjoyed working with them.

I’m the founder and principal of Behaviour Change Partners, a Sydney-based creative agency that specializes in social marketing projects for governments and NGOs.

We wanted to produce a two-minute animated video that clearly communicated our message with memorability and style.

What were your goals for this project?

The goal of the video is to influence targeted solicitors to raise the topic of bequests to charities whenever they write a legal will for a client.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor?

We asked three firms to pitch us their ideas. Studio Pigeon outperformed the two Sydney-based animation studios. They produced by far the best treatment, offering excellent creative thinking and value for money as well as being the most enthusiastic.

We provided the approved script and a guide voiceover. Working from that, Studio Pigeon first developed a storyboard in their proposed style of flat 'collage' animation. Once approved, they went through several stages of animation development, eventually arriving at the final. From there, they completed the video by applying sound design, final voiceover, and music.

What was your vendors' project management or feedback process?

My main project management contact handled all issues and feedback as it came up. I also was able to speak directly with the art directors and animators as needed throughout the process.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The video has been very well received by clients and key stakeholders, including the target market of solicitors.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

I had some initial concerns about working with animators in a different time zone, and whose first language was not English. My worry was unfounded as there was never a problem. The different time zones worked to our advantage on a number of occasions. I could send my feedback at the end of the day Sydney time, and have a well-considered response from Studio Pigeon first thing the following morning.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Studio Pigeon was extremely efficient, and the team was very nice to work with. They offered excellent value. I had no complaints at all.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Everything was as I hoped and expected. It would be unreasonable to expect the next level of creativity and production without a considerably higher price point.

We've had 7,000+ video plays in two to three years, and people who watch the video are much more likely to request a demo than are people who don't watch the video.

Studio Pigeon helped with the launch of two interactive stories, Red Riding Hood and Hansel and Gretel, on our Twisted Tales children’s app. We brought them in to create the GUI and provide illustrations for these stories. We required an interface that was both attractive and unique, while also responsive and scalable to a variety of screen resolutions. In addition, Studio Pigeon created two promotional trailers for the Apple App Store.

What were your goals for this project?

We were looking for a detailed UI design and two trailers for the Apple App Store that featured graphics and illustrations that were both aesthetically pleasing and unique.

I knew Studio Pigeon’s CEO, and I was familiar with the high standards of their previous work.

Can you go into detail about the services they provided and the scope of the project?

The team invented the UI for both of the interactive stories. They provided a thorough design for the app, including the layout of the buttons, labels, and fonts, and several full-screen illustrations. In addition, they created marketing icons as well as promotional banners and videos.
