We're developing the first phase of its enterprise QARQ Platform for government services management. This phase delivers a comprehensive, production-ready qualification management system designed to serve both citizens applying for government services and we and government administrators managing workflows and compliance. The platform will include the following deliverables: a Citizen Portal; Government and our Admin Portals; a Workflow Engine; AI/ML Integration; a CI/CD Pipeline with automated testing, blue/green deployments, CloudWatch dashboards, and AWS X-Ray tracing; and Architecture Requirements built on an AWS serverless-first stack using S3, Lambda, DynamoDB, Cognito, Step Functions, and CloudFront. The system will feature no hard-coded logic—workflows will be externally configured—and leverage AI/ML through AWS Bedrock and Textract, with compliance and observability integrated from day one to ensure scalability, security, and reliability.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Milestone Delivery: All 9 planned milestones (M1-M9) were completed within Phase Z, covering Citizen Portal, Government Portal, Admin Portal, DevOps infrastructure, Workflow Engine, and AI/ML integration.

Platform Functionality:  Delivered Concrete, working features include: a no-code dynamic workflow configuration engine (DynamoDB-driven, no deployment required for new grant programs), a fully functional 3-portal system, CI/CD pipeline with automated testing on every PR, structured logging via CloudWatch, and role-based access control.

Budget:  The project was scoped and executed within budget.

The milestones have been delivered mostly on time, however there have been some employee availability issues that have caused some delays.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What stood out most about Perfsys was their genuine depth of experience in government and financial technology. This was not a generalist shop trying to learn our domain on our dime. They came in with relevant background and understood the complexity of what we were building from day one.

Beyond their technical credentials, the team was enthusiastic, committed, and a genuine pleasure to work with throughout the engagement. They brought energy to the project and stayed invested in the outcome, not just the deliverables. That combination of domain expertise and a collaborative, client-focused attitude is harder to find than most people realize.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Perfsys could have done differently?

No significant complaints. If anything, the one area worth noting is around scheduling and timeline management. Factoring in holidays, vacations, and employee availability upfront rather than adjusting in real time would have helped keep the project on a smoother track. That said, this is a two-sided observation. Our own team could have done better anticipating next steps and being ready to move when the work required it. A more proactive approach on both sides to staying ahead of what was coming would have tightened the overall timeline.

The scope of the work has been wide-ranging, including the integration of AWS Pinpoint, Cognito, Athena, and Amplify. Perfsys improved overall site performance. The work is ongoing.

There have been four Sprints so far. We are discussuing the Sprint backlog items for Sprint 5. The completed tasks are too numerous to list here, but to give you an idea of the extent of completed work, Sprint 1, included:

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

First and foremost, what was most impressive about Perfsys was the team's domain expertise. AWS cloud software is complex. Generalist full-stack developers couldn't get the job done. Perfsys did.

Our perspectives aligned on developing a product for a global marketplace. Our streaming music service features songs from 40 countries on 6 continents. We liked that Perfsys could bring international cultural perspectives to KaZang's development.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Perfsys could have done differently?

No  issues. They call themselves Perfsys. We call them the “Dream Team.” If you know the NBA and Olympic basketball, you’ll know that’s high praise. The Perfsys team fixed all AWS analytics issues for our early-stage music app, KaZang. They resolved a bug that froze our metrics on a specific date, Then, they restored KaZang's data flow across four AWS services (i.e., Pinpoint, Cognito, Amplify, and Athena).

Over a period of six months, three different sets of full-stack developers failed to integrate AWS cloud analytics with our platform. Perfsys succeeded. If you have a tough job you need done to the highest standards, do yourselves a favor and hire Perfsys. On a scale of five stars, we give them a six!

Develop a web-based system for managing content for digital signage and communicating with and updating media players, including fetching and processing data from external sources. 
Overview Structure: The system should be capable of hosting multiple clients in separate instances, with several users per client. A client can upload materials such as videos and images and link them to specific dates and media players. Some content will be fetched from external databases. 

1. Media Players: The administrator creates media players and integrates them with the system. The task involves building an API solution based on the requirements of the media players. The media players will continuously query the server for available settings, playlists, and video clips. 
2. Material Management: Develop a solution where clients can upload materials in the form of images and videos and create sequences with these files in the browser. On the server side, the sequences will be transposed into video clips in a specific format. 
3. Material Storage: Implement features for uploading and storing materials that clients can retrieve to create material as described in point 2. 
4. Content Planning and Scheduling: Build functionality for adding materials and publishing settings. It should be possible to create different playlists, group content, and sort content locally for each media player and globally for multiple media players. 
5. Retrieval of Data from External Databases: Retrieve video materials, publishing settings, and information on where the content should be displayed from clients' booking systems. Automate the process of creating and publishing incoming content. 
6. Data Retrieval for Scheduling: Based on clients' schedules, retrieve data and automatically publish content according to the schedule. For example, "Show ad X when ferry Y departs from port M."

We now have system that runs 24/7 and are used on daily bases. And our monthly cost have been lower then every because of the server less solution we selected togheter with PrefSys. In general we now have a stabile solution that we can trust.

During the main project we hade weekly calls together with the project ledare and head developer. Between the weekly meetings we communicated in our project management system. They always answering directly and solving the issues fast.

The project was completed easily within the expected time-frame, allowing our internal engineering resources to focus on core business decisions while the cloud deployment was taken care of by Perfsys.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The workflow was tightly integrated with how we like to operate. Everything was communicated through Slack, with regular updates. Code commits, and build status updates set up to automatically notify the engineering team of progress.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was very impressed with the communication and willingness to teach and transfer knowledge so that we were left in a great place to continue maintenance in the future.

Having the same idea of how to approach projects in an agile way, the communication and workflow was outstanding from the beginning.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

They are proactive and have creative ideas on how to approach the very unique set we have in our company. Almost always finding professional thus effective solutions.

Perfsys built a serverless architecture system that allows us to quickly and cost-effectively search terabytes of data, find the relevant record, extract the relevant values from the record and append the information to our database. They also built a front end user permissioning system.

The team consisted of two dedicated developers and the company's principal who provided hands-on strategic direction.

Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

The work that Perfsys delivered replaces manually work that would have previously taken hundreds of man-hours. We now have a system that can scale and handle any demand in just minutes.

How was project management arranged and how effective was it?

We worked in two week sprints, communicated multiple times a day over Slack and the team was available to join us for phone calls and/or videoconferencing with screen shares whenever it was needed. The project management was highly effective.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

What was most impressive was their strategic thinking. The team was far from one that just followed direction blindly. They truly took ownership over the project and they gave it the same level of thoughtfulness, care and attention to detail as if it were their own software.

They provided one full-time Python developer, one full-time Javascript frontend developer, and one development operations manager.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I trust them. I can go to bed at night and know that I will not wake up in the morning to a user complaint about website or login errors, something I experienced on a weekly basis with my previous agency. I have a very high level of confidence with Perfsys. Their maintenance package includes built-in alerts, none of which have been triggered yet. If something were to go wrong on the Perfsys side, I am confident they will know about it and resolve it before I hear of it from a user. 

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Their development workflow was based on the Agile/SCRUM approach. We had daily sync calls as well as weekly planning meetings.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Although we may suggest an idea, they will always keep us straight on industry best practices. The maintenance package I pay now is less than the retainer I for the previous agency, who regularly complained that the retainer was not enough to cover the number of hours they worked each month.

They need to be more proactive in creating bespoke elements on the website and in suggesting better enhancements.
