Software Development Specifications
1. Application Infrastructure & Launch
a. Configuration of the base web application used as the foundation for the image
generation system developed on the Microsoft .NET framework.
b. Configuration of the hosting environment, database schema, SSL certificate and domain
name on the Microsoft Azure cloud environment.
i. The hosting environment, including the server, database, domain name, SSL
certificates, etc. will be owned and paid for by the client. Pell Software estimates a
monthly cost of around $55 - $85 per month for all necessary hosting
environment resources.
ii. Pell Software will assist in procuring and maintaining these systems for the client
as necessary and on an ongoing basis.
c. Secure login for the RapidSip Drinkware staff, forgotten password reset and user
management to allow for new users to be added to the system.
d. The base web application will provide robust web-native features and will enable the
system to be expanded upon in the future to support additional product sizes and
automation workflows.
e. The design of the system will be branded to match RapidSipDrinkware’s brand colors and
include their logo.
2. Image Generation Routine
a. The Image Generation Routine functionality is the main workflow the system will support.
This functionality will enable users to import multiple images for orders in batches and
automatically generate a PDF output file to be printed for their orders.
b. These output files will be printed on a special paper that is used to customize shot
glasses for customers.
c. The workflow will begin by the user logging into the web application and clicking an
“Import Images” button in the left sidebar or on the dashboard/home page of the
application.
d. Image Import
i. Users will import a .zip file containing up to 50 images at a time.
ii. Images will be required to be in a .PNG format and named after their order
number, followed by an optional underscore and a number indicating the image
number for the given order, in order to support orders which contain multiple
images.
1. Example image file names: 15007_1.png, 15007_2.png, 15008.png
iii. Once imported, the user will be taken to the Image Configuration screen.
e. Image Configuration
i. Users will see a list of all images that were just uploaded in their .zip file in a
vertical list, with 1 image per row and the controls to configure that image next to
the image on the same row.
ii. Each original image will display on the left side of its row, with text controls in the
middle of the row, and the preview image on the right side of the row.
iii. In the middle of the row will be controls to allow the user to input text for the top

of the image, text for the bottom of the image, as well as choose color and font for
the text (separate fonts/colors may be selected for the top and bottom text
respectively) from a predefined color drop down list of colors and fonts.
iv. As the user inputs text and chooses the color and font, the Preview image will be
automatically updated to display the text the user inputted in an arching pattern
around the top and/or bottom of the image and in the chosen color and font.
v. Additionally, the user can use arrow buttons to move the text and image around
slightly in the Preview image in case they need to adjust the placement.
vi. Additionally, the user may input a quantity for the Image. The quantity box will
default to “1” but can be changed to accommodate orders that require multiple of
the same image to be printed.
f. Image Export
i. Once the user is finished configuring each of their images, they will click an Export
PDF button at the bottom of the page.
ii. This will cause the system to generate 1 or many PDF files in a predefined size,
containing the images exactly as they have been configured in the previous step.
iii. The system will size each image to be 1.5” tall and place it on the PDF in a grid
layout to maximize the amount of orders that can display on a single printed sheet.
iv. The system will also output the order number (image name) above each output
image so the RapidSipDrinkware staff member knows which order the image goes
with after it’s printed.
g. Future Considerations
i. Once exported, the images will not be saved with the system. However, this may
be added in a future phase of development.
ii. Additionally, the system will be modified in the future to allow for production of
different sized output images for pint glasses, wine glasses, and more.
3. System Testing, Implementation & Documentation
a. Pell Software will perform full system testing to ensure end-to-end performance in line
with requirements and industry standards.
b. Client acceptance testing including an allotment of time for anticipated adjustments,
tweaks and changes prior to launch.
c. Technical documentation and specifications outlining the overall system architecture,
dependencies and workflows will be produced in order to allow the Client to maintain and
support the system for the foreseeable future.
d. Post-launch support and allotment of time for anticipated adjustments, questions and
maintenance following the launch of the system.
