We needed help building a facility management system.

What was the scope of their involvement?

OTAKOYI developed a cross-platform mobile app to manage real estate properties and connect tenants to service providers. The app included analytics, a payment system, and a ticketing system.

We worked with around seven people from OTAKOYI, and there were more people in the background with whom we didn't interact.

We found OTAKOYI through an online search. We chose them over other options because of their existing portfolio and a combination of price and quality metrics.

We worked together from December 2024–July 2025.

We were extremely happy with OTAKOYI's team, process, knowledge, and technical expertise.

How did OTAKOYI perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicated via email and calls. We received weekly status reports and app version releases, which gave us visibility into the project's progress, issues, and timeline. We changed our requirements a bit as the project progressed, but OTAKOYI kept everything in check and didn't deviate much. The team stuck to the budget and timeline and delivered a quality app.

What did you find most impressive about them?

OTAKOYI told us when things didn't make sense and advised us on alternatives.

What challenge were you trying to address with OTAKOYI?

We hired OTAKOYI to build a Shopify-based platform that would allow us to test a new proposition for a spin-out company we established to address the needs of the Middle Eastern market on non-insurance-related benefits.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

OTAKOYI has created a Shopify platform for our new business. The team has identified or customized the use of plugins to achieve the use case of selling third-party services through a single platform with three types of users. The first user is companies, the second is their employees, and the third is public visitors. All three users need to read about the services, check their pricing, and pay. Discounts and vouchers also need to be applied with different rules and some light white labeling.

How did you come to work with OTAKOYI?

I was referred to OTAKOYI by a friend. I dealt with them in the past on a project that didn’t go ahead. We chose them because of their clear communication, quick understanding of our needs, and reasonable quote with options..

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in January 2025, and the project is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

So far, we’ve gotten a good way through the use cases, and we’ve completed 90% of the features as agreed in the original scope.

How did OTAKOYI perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management is very detailed and timely. They’re always responsive. We communicate via Google Meet and WhatsApp.

We've faced challenges throughout the project, such as internal requirements gathering, which were often varied and not focused.

Some features, as expected by internal stakeholders, were not directly translatable to Shopify and needed workarounds through existing features, but they responded very well, thinking of different solutions and presenting options based on what was achievable through plug-ins, or then identifying where custom code may have to be developed. The communication was clear and timely, which was appreciated.

OTAKOYI has worked on every aspect of the application development, from backend to frontend. They have their own project manager and QA working on the project to ensure the development meets our expectations. OTAKOYI has implemented a new upload method for the content in the backend and is currently working on an AI chatbot.

We have a high level of satisfaction with OTAKOYI's performance. The number of bugs in the live applications is decreasing every month, and we find 2–3 times less bugs than last year. The quality of the apps has visibly improved, and the overall user experience has increased significantly. The applications are running smoother than ever.

How did OTAKOYI perform from a project management standpoint?

OTAKOYI's project management is excellent. They deliver on time, and when something is delayed, there is always a valid reason. We communicate through Slack and have weekly meetings. When delays happen, they are communicated transparently and backed by valid reasons. Their project management keeps things on track.

OTAKOYI is highly involved in the project, making meaningful suggestions and improvements.
