First we started with SEO and just basic traffic driving strategies. Within 6 months we continued and began some web development, mostly with content and strategy as to how to drive the most traffic and maximize conversion rates. Eventually we separated the site and web app from just React with Python to our site being on Word Press. 

Along the way strategy was always at the heart of every single thing we did and in the end an idea I had that I started building myself, and then hired one person, and then more and more, we are now a thriving company very largely from the expertise and passion Optimum7 has for their craft. 

I started my company thinking this was a maybe a long shot but hey okay, after almost 20 years in the business, but Optimum7 really helped me push through walls and barriers much more easily and smoothly than I would have thought.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

Massive traffic and inquiries to and about our application is the most obvious and measurable success they gave us, but personally knowing a very competent team that is also extremely passionate about what they do has brought me personally great relief in starting a company. Trust is everything and they have not only earned it but they have kept their eye on the ball and kept it; as simple as that sounds, that can be rare.

They use the Monday app and are extremely organized and have all of their "ducks in a row" so to speak so we move very quickly with everyone always in the know. Beyond trust, it is nice to have a team that you can log in and see exactly how and what they are doing to help push your business to the next level.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their passion for their craft is impressive. There are lots of companies good at what they do, but finding a company that really stands behind and is driven by their performance I've found to be rare. With Optimum7, not just being another client (as a startup) really means a lot. And having a founder check in on you is really great but leadership starts at the top and that is crystal clear under Duran Inci.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Optimum7 could have done differently?

There were a couple hiccups but Optimum7 addressed them on their own and solved them; this in itself is an amazing aspect, almost every vendor I've ever worked with does not operate this way, I have to be the one to bring up performance issues and sometimes be the driving force to getting them fixed.

Scope of work included migrating our e-commerce store from Shopsite to Big Commerce. Utilizing a premade template with some customizations. The migration included setting up pages and products and installing 3rd-party apps. Additionally, a new Klaviyo account was to be setup with new email flows and templates.

Their project management was very poor. They would go as much as 2 weeks without an update on the project. Time and again they would state items were completed when they were not completed and in some instances even touch. This created an enormous waist of time going back and forth.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Optimum7 could have done differently?

The review I posted online provides all the details about the areas that Optimum7 needs to improve. I want to share a bad experience I had with Optimum7. About 16 months after my website migration was completed, I received an unexpected email from them, stating that I would now be required to pay for their hosting services. This came as a complete surprise to me since I did not know that any coding on my website would be permanently connected to their servers. 

I asked Duran, the CEO, why I was never made aware of this, and he pointed out Clause 9 of the "Terms & Conditions" section of the contract I had signed, which stated that "Optimum7 may use their web services hosted on another server to enable certain integrations and functionality for the client." 

However, during the entire project, Optimum7 never specified that there were functions that would require their server or that such connections would need to be maintained permanently. This lack of disclosure is unacceptable. 

I hired a new developer to review my site and remove Optimum7's code. We discovered that Optimum7 had utilized their code to create functions that were already native to the Big Commerce platform, such as pop-up links & a custom cart that had no customizations. None of these functions required a connection to Optimum7's server to continue working effectively. 

Duran attempted to bribe me by offering me a $3000 "refund" in exchange for removing my 1-star review. This tactic may explain why several 1-star reviews have seemingly disappeared. Such behavior is unprofessional and raises concerns about the company's ethics. Snippets from my previous review are below. 

I would not recommend using Optimum7's services. My experience working with Duran & his team was frustrating, unprofessional, inconsistent, & detrimental to business. There was no quality control. Tasks had to be redone multiple times until they were done correctly. They were 8 weeks late on delivery. This job was entirely documented in an online portal & email, everything was in writing. 

When I brought some challenges I was having with lack of progress from the team & issues with the work being done to Duran, the CEO of Optimum7 he would reply with an "I 100% disagree with that statement". Meanwhile, the statement was in writing and taken directly from what his team entered in the portal. One of them was even an exact quote from an email that he sent me that he still denied. 

I don't know if the issue is ignorance, incompetence, or just a case of it being easier to continue to deny than take responsibility & take action to correct the issue. If they tell you they are experts in Klaviyo ask them if the person they will assign to your job has ever worked on the platform. The person assigned to my job did not know there was a desktop version & a mobile version of an email that requires editing. 

I have all the versions of the emails they created and Duran still denied it was their fault. In preparing to post this review I was reading some of Optimum7's recent reviews & noticed that there were several one-star reviews that I read a few months ago that seemed to have a similar experience as I had that are now suddenly missing. 

When I inquired with BigCommerce's VP of Partnerships why this would be, their response was "there's a legal dispute happening between the merchant and Optimum7". I asked if that was the case for all 3 reviews and that question did not receive a reply. If you are reading this review & contemplating hiring Optimum7 & are excited that they have all 5-star reviews you should consider why three 1-star reviews were removed from this platform.

We’re writing to address the recent review posted about our company. We have carefully considered the client’s feedback and while we respect their right to express their experiences, we believe it’s essential to provide some clarity from our perspective.

Regarding project management and communication, we emphasize our constant commitment to delivering the highest quality service. We maintain rigorous processes to ensure ongoing, regular updates are provided to all clients throughout every project.

As for the technical issues raised by the client, specifically in reference to Clause 9 in our agreement, we stand firm on the integrity of our practice. All connections established between our servers and the client’s website are not only secure but are also integral to facilitating various functions. We make concerted efforts to inform our clients about the technical intricacies of their projects in a transparent and accessible manner.

Regarding the coding performed, every function developed by our team was with the sole aim of maximizing the performance and capabilities of the client’s e-commerce platform. We must reiterate that our work is guided by professional principles and designed to meet client objectives.

Concerning the claim of bribery, we strongly dispute this assertion. We offered a refund purely as an act of goodwill and an attempt to resolve any dissatisfaction, not as a ploy to alter the public opinion of our company.

We feel it’s essential to highlight that while we appreciate feedback and take all comments into account, this particular review does not reflect our usual high standard of service and customer satisfaction. They also helped the development team execute the strategy and advised every step of the way.

Ultimately, we did not lose ranking for any longer than the expected time frame that happens when we undertaking a major migration like we did. The results were exactly as expected and the nightmare scenario that we were very concerned about never came to fruition thanks to their work.

we had 5 people working from their team. 1 project manager, a financial manager and 2 engineers. Also we communicated with their CEO a few times during the project.

The website looks great and we ran a promotion were we invited our customers to look for bugs in our website and I'm pleased to say that they only found 3 and they are all small cosmetic issues.

They are very responsive; They will respond at least every 3 days during the project, most of the time every other day. During crunch time, two weeks prior to our launch and the week after the launch, they responded multiple times a day.

Affordable; They quoted me 7k to migrate my website to a new theme (we didn't migrate backend provides). And when the scope of the project changed and we started adding customizations, they did not Nickle and dime us. The price is fair and the website works great. In the end the website above cost us $10,500.

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

After my review was posted to Clutch, the CEO reached out to me get the details about my experience. We spoke for quite a long time going through everything, and the CEO promised that the requests from my original scope of work would be completed correctly.

Two days after my call with the CEO, the team started working on the tasks. A week later, all the tasks were completed, but there were a couple bugs that had to be fixed; and they were. Now, everything is working as it should.

How did Optimum7 address the challenges that arose?

We communicated using screenshots and keystroke details to work out the bugs and issues that were caused. The Optimum7 team exhibited patience and an attention to the details.

How was project management handled?

I believe the key issue that led to my negative first experience was the fact that my Project Manager was a Managing Director. I believe the simplicity and small scale of my requests were frustrating compared to much larger projects they were managing. The CEO agreed they should probably not have been working on a project as small as mine and I should have had a Project Manager.

Customer service from the CEO was exceptional and his team completed my requests quickly after our conversation.

Make sure the Project Manager has enough experience to handle the project, but is not so over qualified that they lose interest in the required tasks.

How did your relationship with the vendor evolve?

Optimum7’s bedside manner was brash. They wanted me to give them what they needed right away even though I told them I was still working on it. Specifically, they wanted me to review some things but I didn’t have the time because my family had been sick due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Then, the holidays came. After having no communication for three weeks because of the sickness, I came back to the project around the new year. They told me they were going to end the engagement if I didn’t respond — they came at me hard. I emailed them, and their team explained that some people had dropped off other projects before. I told them I didn’t stop communicating; I was just sick.

In any case, we got past that and continued the engagement. However, what upset me was that I paid them $2,000 for 10 hours of work, but the amount of work they did was equal to only two hours maximum. I gave them a list of products, and they created one product category for me. They didn’t do it correctly. If I used their model for the other product categories, I would’ve spent a lot of time doing things incorrectly. That was when the fear of wasted money hit me. I realized that whoever developed the site didn’t care about it enough to make sure the product example was correct. 

A lot of other things on the website were broken. For instance, the Captcha feature was off the screen — users literally had to pull the screen and click it at the same time. The Optimum7 team left it at that state. Apart from that, their resources added a ton of copy that I never gave them. Some were good, while others weren’t. I tried to speak about it in a kind manner to know who wrote the copy, but they didn’t even acknowledge that it was them. They put some nice things on the site, but I didn’t know how to remove them. Eventually, I ended up asking for rework on things that I didn’t even ask them to do — all while they were billing me. 

How did Optimum7 address the challenges that arose?

The Optimum7 team didn’t advise me on anything beyond my questions; they didn’t provide guidance or support to me other than what we’d asked them to do. I had a feeling that they were done with me from the start — they did the first round of changes, and they seemed upset that I asked for a second round. 

Moreover, they wouldn’t provide me with alternative solutions. There was never a communication of clarity to confirm my request. Their resources would do what they thought I requested. How would I even know that that was the best solution? I was frustrated in that regard. 

How was project management handled?

Optimum7 took 2–3 days to respond to me and longer to do the work. Sometimes, they wouldn’t respond unless I ask them what was happening. It seemed like they were ghosting me; they left me alone to the point that I decided to ask them one last thing. It wasn’t even a heavy request — I only needed them to fix the footer of the site’s mobile version. The footer was so wide that it wasn’t optimized for any type of phone. 

They managed to fix the footer, and I gave them other small requests. I asked them to put the logo of our sibling charity organization on the footer of the site. However, they put the logo of the e-commerce site instead of the charity. They also put the charity’s link there, which I couldn’t remember asking them to do. I couldn’t change these because everything was hardcoded.

Overall, a lot of issues were unresolved. I realized that what Optimum7 did to my website could be done easily over a couple of hours on the phone with BigCommerce’s support. There was also no point person ever to get on the phone with me other than their sales representative. We only had cold email communications. The long and short of it was that I shouldn’t have picked Optimum7 to help me out on this project. 

Is there anything that the vendor did well or that you would consider a strength?

No, there was none. 

In what specific areas can they improve?

Optimum7 should improve their customer communication. Once they improve this, they can do everything else in a better way. They should also aim for better customer satisfaction and a better way to engage their customers. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The best way to avoid the situation I’ve gone through is to spend more time on BigCommerce's customer support line. Optimum7 is only for actual software development and not populating information or anything else.

Optimum7’s first task was SEO. They analyzed my website and made changes to ensure it appeared higher on Google, including improving page speed. They also identify keywords and create images and videos on our website. It’s a collaborative relationship.

We work with 4–5 people, including the CEO. The exact composition changed depending on what services we needed at the moment. I’ve consistently talked with three specific people, however.

A lot of companies these days will promise a lot and then not deliver, but Optimum7 delivers. The CEO is very knowledgeable as well. He was very impressive in the videos I saw of him.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Customers return to our site more often than they used to, and our general exposure has definitely increased — traffic to our site has more than doubled, and that number continues to grow.

The strategies they’ve implemented have worked amazingly over the years; we’ve seen a huge change in our business, as in it’s doing very well. We’re very happy with their services.

How did Optimum7 perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very well organized and always reach our goals, which we discussed and set in monthly meetings. We collaborate on Monday.com. We can even speak with the CEO on the platform.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very friendly and always listen to everything we have to say. Moreover, whenever we have a question, we can get ahold of them. Their creativity stands out as well, in terms of finding new ways to put us in a better place.

Finally, they are on top of the industry trends. Competition is fierce nowadays, and a lot of vendors lack the human touch, but Optimum7 is always easy to communicate with. Our experience is nothing like the stories I’ve heard from people who work with other vendors. Optimum7 is friendly and always delivers.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I don’t think so, as they’re doing well. I don’t have any complaints so far. When we have ideas of our own, we speak up, and Optimum7 implements them via whatever resource is right for the job. I don’t have anything negative to say.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Know exactly where you want to go, as it will help them develop a clear strategy. There were many things to improve on our website in the beginning, and they were able to tell me exactly what I needed to do. I didn’t know how to get to my goal, but I knew what my goal was.

Also, understand that results are going to take time. Working with a vendor is a commitment, but Optimum7 will guide you through it.

We started getting more and more calls booked from the inbound traffic to the website. In the past couple of months, our conversion rates went up from almost no calls booked to about a 5% conversion rate. From the email marketing campaigns, we saw a huge increase in open rates, from just 15-20% in the beginning to almost 60% after a couple of months.

We had a weekly meeting with the team just to go over the progress of the project and daily communication over Slack, so we can answer any questions that don't require facetime on the calls.

They were very good at what they were doing, very detail-oriented, and meticulous with the project that they were doing for us.

The website had its best year in 2020 thanks to Optimum7. We saw an immediate lift in organic page views, more traffic, and a significant improvement in search engine rankings too.

The communication with Optimum7 was exceptional. We had started using Podio as a project management tool and then continued to communicate on Monday.com which is an effective way to get updates and track project timelines.

We started seeing a significant increase in website traffic and revenue since we began working with Optimum7. The SEO knowledge that they provided set them apart as well as their genuine interest in helping us succeed along the way. They were always on schedule without any issues whatsoever has made this agency more than just worth it.

The communication was a bit difficult due to the time difference. I also did not like the Project Management Tool they used.
