What challenge were you trying to address with Online Marketing Gurus?

We needed social media marketing and SEO services. The project's initial goals were to establish brand awareness and brand engagement. We were the number two selling energy drink in ten central market locations within Texas in the H-E-B system. We wanted to target our advertising on the Texas market and also spend our budget on national market campaigns for our Amazon business. We also wanted the team to carve out what makes our drink different and compete with other brands.

Online Marketing Gurus was based in Australia, and we initially talked to Troy (Head of Sales & Partnerships USA), who was located in California. After our first meeting with Troy, we had two meetings with the Online Marketing Gurus leadership team, including their CEO. The team provided an engagement document that clarified the services provided. 

Online Marketing Gurus designed content for our social media channels, including static images and animations. The team also managed marketing campaigns on Instagram, X, Facebook, and YouTube. Online Marketing Gurus created copy for our website to establish connectivity and boost our search rankings. The team created our SEO strategy, and we worked together on the keyword research. Online Marketing Gurus worked on bringing our website up to speed and delivered monthly performance reports.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked with Online Marketing Gurus from May 2023–January 2024. Our engagement ended because our company acquired another company that had an agency of record that took over SEO work.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We saw our search engine rank increase dramatically when Online Marketing Gurus was doing SEO work for us. We knew our drink's differentiator and Online Marketing Gurus worked on keywords around that. The team's work carved out an excellent notch for us and achieved significant growth. We quickly moved from the fifth page of results to the first page and were really happy. We saw the results in real-time. 

Online Marketing Gurus did an excellent job. The ads were very successful from what we saw on our online sales and Texas sales. We received calls from users all over the country who saw the ads. Online Marketing Gurus conducted effective campaigns, and we found it very moving that their CEO joined our virtual meetings even with our time difference. That personal touch, connectivity, and respect carried on through the time we engaged with the team.

Online Marketing Gurus' project management was meticulous. We always knew where our funds were destined. We had real-time input and made changes as needed. The team had a very fluid and active engagement and was on top of everything. We had weekly team meetings to review the analytical data and extrapolate what we wanted to focus on.

Jeff was exceptional. We were impressed at his knowledge of SEO and online marketing. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was impressed by Online Marketing Gurus' transparency and proactive communication. There were times when we were too busy to meet, and the team insisted because they knew how important it was to meet.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything for Online Marketing Gurus to improve. The team set the bar high. 

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

I would encourage customers to trust the process and be patient. SEO strategy is a marathon, not a sprint. I also suggest trusting the data and numbers and leaning into the professionals Online Marketing Gurus has. Ask them for a walkthrough of the reports and an explanation of the data. Online Marketing Gurus was very accessible and educated us about their actions. 

I recommend new clients not to hold back and be intimidated by what they don't know. I don't have an SEO background and have never worked on an SEO project, so I encourage customers to ask questions to better understand the project.

After literally wasting time and money for years with local companies, I set about searching again. I selected OMG based on compatibility with our business, online reviews and after talking with Elliott Pavatich and Simon Hancock

Our goal was to tap more into the healthcare and mums and bubs market. We are up against bug players like Life Space and Swisse. The project started with a small budget and slowly grew as we started to see success. OMG built a profile that gives us conversion and the sales we need while staying within the budget that we set.

Through collaboration and OMG suggestions and test trials, we were able to get to a conversion rate that we needed for our business to be successful. The campaign included keywords, negative keywords, and different searches that would drive the right demographic to our website. OMG also made recommendations on how to modify our landing pages and calls to action.

We’ve been using OMG for a year now, and we’re extremely happy with them. From a return standpoint, we’ve seen conversions on specific campaigns as high as 10 : 1 return on adspend which has resulted in consistent sales

First and foremost they listen. They fully understand our business and where we want to go. They provide us with detailed reports and work logs. I have no questions as to what they are doing or charging me for. The entire team is literally a phone call or email away. They are very responsive in a timely manner. I speak with my account manager Harland at least once a week.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The measurable results, accountability and superior customer service experience, you get fast responses and personal service whenever you call or email them. When you make suggestions, they act upon them very quickly.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They’ve been a great team to work with. We’ve been regularly examining their reports, which are filled with performance metrics such as impressions, link acquisitions, and clicks. With their help, we’ve increased our ranking for certain keywords. 

They shifted strategy when California was going through problems with wildfires, positioning one of our products to help people dealing with smoke in their homes. After creating content about that, our SERP rankings increased. We were happy to be more visible to people encountering that problem.

How did Online Marketing Gurus perform from a project management standpoint?

I meet with Andrea on a bi-weekly basis to discuss their progress. Otherwise, we communicate over email. 

They have several internal tools that they use to verify SEO standings such as SEMrush and Ahrefs. Since I started in this role, we’ve been able to work a bit more collaboratively, and I’ve been very impressed with Andrea. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’ve been very adaptive as I’ve transitioned into this role. Andrea is super responsive and always assumes positive intent. They’re eager to work together and take in our feedback. I’m glad we have their expertise to help us be successful. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

At this point, I can’t think of anything. Some of their content may benefit from some additional SEO verification. We’re looking to integrate tools on my end to help beef up this effort.

Try them out. Make sure you come to them with clear goals. Think about how to make their agency a cohesive piece of your strategy rather than a siloed team.

We brought OMG on board to assist us with our SEO. One of our site was not getting much traction in Google AU with the American site commandeering much of our rankings. They outlined a strategy including international targeting considerations, keyword research and mapping and quick win technical fixes to apply straight away. Ongoing, our campaign has benefited from new content and a targetted link acquisition strategy.

We work predominantly with our dedicated Account Manager Michelle who liaises closely with our consultant team lead by our Senior contact Emine. From time to time we have larger strategy sessions and reviews whereby their Chief Customer Officer, Danny also attends.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

Our on-going strategy has predominantly been centered around link acquisition and content - which has not only correlated to record visibility and traffic but has also seen our domain rating one site increase from 9 to 53 and resulted in a 200% increase in organic revenue YoY last reporting cycle. ROI across both sites is postive.

We have at least monthly meetings with our account Manager to run through the last moths performance, opportunities and roadblocks and get an overivew of work in progress. There's also back and forths in between on tasks in progress. Tools range from custom dashboards to third-party tool get a complete overview on performance.

We have a great relationship with Online Marketing Gurus. This included regular catch ups face to face / via Hangouts and easy to communicate with via email if any questions come up.

The business itself manages to give as much attention to itself as it does to the customers through regular blog posts and mailouts that help the customer learn to understand the work that is being done for them.

I think with all SEO companies, transparency is a tough wall to get over, the first few months with any SEO business is where the preparation and goal setting happens. The following months can become hard to quantify with exception to the results.

This company's experience relates very well to our industry. They have worked with most of the high end and big-name companies in the apparel and athleisure industry. Their drive to help us succeed is very impressive and encouraging. In addition, they work with complete professionalism and set very high standards for themselves.

To be completely honest we have no complaints. In the time that we have been working with them they have exceeded our expectations and gone above and beyond to help us reach our goal.

How did you select Online Marketing Gurus and what were the deciding factors?

I interviewed 5 other SEO companies and had tenders produced by each of them.

Online Marketing Gurus however were head and shoulders above the competition as they proved to me that they have heavily invested (over $3,000,000 of their own R&D) in their product to understand the ever changing google algorithms, and when I spoke with them they had the technical SEO audit skills that are really needed to make this a success.

They also were reasonably priced, in that whilst they were not the cheapest I interviewed, they were also not the most expensive. I knew that their fees were reasonable and I believe that it is good value for money.

Online Marketing Gurus developed a 6 month plan with us with key deliverables for each month, starting with reporting set up and a technical audit, to then the technical changes, to now link building and content optimization.

We have built key deliverables with them on how many views we want to have with our our website, as well as clearly defined criteria around what is a conversion to our website (and monitoring that conversion percentage).

There was a sales specialist at the beginning, and now I work with an accounts manager who is my primary contact. My accounts manager then has a team behind her who do each technical component of the campaign.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We have not had any SEO done before. Starting from ground zero, we have seen a visibility score increase overall in our website over 2 months of 70% just from the technical audit fixes.

There is a clear monthly scope of work that is shared with me, as well as good email communication throughout the month, and also a monthly catch up with my accounts manager. They are easy to get a hold of if needed.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their spend on their Research and Development shows in the way that they operate. They have spent the time to understand the market, their product, and their internal processes, and I am very happy with choosing Online Marketing Gurus for our SEO campaign.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Perhaps some more communication between the sales representative and my accounts manager when I first started, as all the deliverables I had worked on with them were not transitioned over as well to the accounts manager as I would have liked. But that was solved quickly in the first month or two of set up.
