Indicate Technologies Inc. is uniquely positioned to address the high technology markets of the Western United States in the field of precision dimensional metrology and 3D printing. I am the Vice President of Business Development and responsible for strategic business growth.

For what projects/services did your company hire Offshore Evolution Pvt Ltd, and what were your goals?

We need to create very detailed, and sometimes complex quotations for our customers for thousands of products and configurations. We needed help to customize our CRM (SugarCRM) to enable this. We also needed help to update our website from an old static site to a more modern WordPress site.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We had bad experiences with previous vendors that did not deliver on time or on budget. We were looking for someone with experience to deliver what we needed.

We have had several projects over the last 8+ years. Typically, we will kick off the project with a meeting to explain what we need along with some documents to outline the objectives and key tasks. Offshore provided estimates on time and resources needed to complete the projects.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We were primarily working with Dipesh, who would then delegate tasks accordingly with his team. As our needs increase we are working with more team members.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

• Successful completion of the quoting tool and ongoing maintenance
• Successful launch of website and ongoing maintenance, troubleshooting and upgrades
• Implementation of custom modules in SugarCRM for business operations

We are able to move the projects forward by shared documents, email, and occasional conference calls. Offshore Revolution is very timely with responses and excellent at responding with urgent requests.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

• Reliable and trustworthy: we are comfortable sharing infrastructure access with them
• Fast response and accommodating: they always make themselves available after hours to solve problems
• Knowledgeable: they are able to help us with almost and development challenge

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Sometime we found some spelling or grammar errors that would need another round to correct, however this has completely improved.

I’m the director of operations at a judgment enforcement agency, which is very similar to a collection agency.

What challenge were you trying to address with Offshore Evolution Pvt Ltd?

I was trying to organize my contacts, business files, and documents. For this, I wanted a software solution to handle my whole business, from end to end.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Offshore Evolution is our PHP development partner. They modify open-source software so that I can use it. First, I told them the idea of what I wanted for the CRM system. They took a preexisting CRM program and modified it to meet those requirements. 

We use CSB upload files; the system can take the documents, rename them, sort them, and connect them to each contact and case. The solution can also handle and generate documents. The program also manages customer relationships and customer service, and we’re now pushing procedures into it. Offshore Evolution is working on a RingCentral integration to the program, so when we get a call, we’ll see the user’s name, documents, and case.

The team has also designed and built 3–4 websites for me. One of them was designed from scratch, and with the rest, I bought WordPress themes, and they modified them. On my main website, users can log in and see the status of their cases. Additionally, they built a website for a friend that I sponsored. 

For the websites, they’ve done integrations with my database and email. The CRM program is online and also integrated into the site. Offshore Evolution built a web portal where I can hold some information from my database on the website. Additionally, they’re developing a project management solution through the CRM system. 

Currently, the team does maintenance and handles updates, such as new PHP versions. The team is constantly improving my online CRM system. They also address issues. For example, I once got hacked, and Offshore Evolution took the site down, cleansed it, and then put it back up.

I’m working with two people from Offshore Evolution right now.

I found them on Upwork (called oDesk at the time). 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $80,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together around February 2007, and our engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Thanks to Offshore Evolution’s work, we’ve cut document-uploading time. I used to have a teammate full-time only uploading documents; now, I can do it myself. We have thousands of cases that need to be sorted, uploaded, renamed, and tagged. I can upload 20 documents in about 15–20 minutes with the CRM program. That in has saved me a lot of time and money, so I’m really happy. Additionally, the team has been able to add features that a CRM doesn’t normally have, so we don’t have to use 5–6 different programs.

How did Offshore Evolution Pvt Ltd perform from a project management standpoint?

They meet deadlines 98%–99% of the time. They’re pretty quick to work; if I say something is urgent, they get it done fast. Most of their tasks aren’t critical, and it usually takes them a week to get things done. 

All of my instructions are given over Skype chat and Google Meet. They also send me Loom videos uploaded to their demo site so I can check them and give the okay. Although I talk to them almost every day, I’ve never met them face-to-face.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Offshore Evolution gives me what I want. The one time I didn’t use them and hired another provider, it was a total disaster, so I’m not doing that again. With Offshore Evolution, if they can’t do something themselves, they bring someone in to do it.

Are there any areas they could improve?

About three years ago, they were unresponsive for about two months when I needed something small during an off period. However, that was a very short period. Other than that, they’ve been good to us.

The website that Dipesh and his team built demonstrates the ability to customize content. It had to be not only easy to use, but must display equally well on mobile.

I had the pleasure of working with Dipesh several years ago, in the construction of a Sugar CRM project. When the time came to develop the website, Off Shore Evolution was the natural choice, because Dipesh has the calm, confident manner and excellent communication skills we needed to work remotely

Very pleased with the outcome, especially that it was brought in, on time and on budget. The team was always available, worked quickly and efficiently, and kept us constantly updated. Our web site users were impressed with how well it functioned.

Always on time, always available despite the time differences. We utilized Google meet effectively to work side by side.

I needed a database of our properties and deals with CRM functionality but didn't want to spend $140k rolling out SalesForce. Offshore Evolution came highly rated and I had worked with them successfully previously so we engaged them to deploy and customize SuiteCRM to our business needs.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

I found them through Upwork. The number of work hours billed, rating, and response to my request for proposal helped me choose them and I'm glad I did! They started the project and are still supporting me today.

The initial scope was to set up and secure SuiteCRM. We discussed business needs and developed additional scopes to customize including custom modules for products, properties, contacts and more. We were up and running within weeks and now we add functionality as needed. Offshore Evolution is always available and quick to turn around work with excellent quality. Most weeks I have only a few hours of work and they still make my project a priority and deliver.

I have had one main point of contact. He speaks excellent English and if he has a question picks up the phone and calls to discuss it. Fantastic support and work.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We noticed a huge uptick in efficiency and now have a database to reference the history of every project. Meetings, contacts, documents, images, tasks, are all logged so as we add new teammates they can get up to speed in an instant.

We communicate through Skype and they are available more often than I am. They set realistic expectations for times and deliverables which makes them the easiest developer I have worked with.

The speed with which they work is fantastic. We pay more hourly but have realized savings because they work faster than low-budget developers.

They are truly top-notch.
