I’m an owner and manager of a chain of pawn shops.

What challenge were you trying to address with Oddball Creative?

I wanted to improve our web presence and unite our marketing. We serve seven different markets that are differently branded and advertised. Overall, we wanted to build our brand and do a better job of advertising and marketing.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Oddball Creative built a new website for our business. They perform ongoing SEO services and geofence advertising. Their team also created targeted digital ads and managed social media. While we retained the same logo, they worked with us on uniting our overall brand across the seven or eight Facebook pages we own.

What is the team composition?

In total, we worked with two people. Christian (Co-Owner, Oddball Creative) was our main point of contact.

How did you come to work with Oddball Creative?

I did work with Christian at his previous employer. When he moved on, we got back in touch.

How much have you invested with them?

So far, we’ve invested between $20,000–$30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement with Oddball Creative started in November 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Oddball Creative crafts modern and unique designs. Their quality of work is outstanding.

How did Oddball Creative perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project management is very well-done. They’re easy to communicate with. Most of it was through email and face-to-face interaction.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Along with their excellent communication, there’s a lot of collaboration.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not that I can think of.

I’m one of the partners of a brick-and-mortar furniture store. I run the day-to-day operations of the business.

What challenge were you trying to address with Oddball Creative? 

It's tough to get your name out there when you're new. We needed help letting people know who we are, where we’re located, and that we’re open for business.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

The first thing Oddball Creative did was set up our website. They did the design and development to get it up and running, and customized it to our preferences. We’ve talked about doing e-commerce on the site but we're not ready for that quite yet. It's more of an informational site that tells users about us and our products. Customers can click on our manufacturers, which links directly to their catalogs. 

Oddball Creative also helps with all of our social media postings, particularly the creative side of our Facebook page. Then they do targeted ads for us through their online services. They’re able to target different customer bases and boost ads so that the right people are seeing our ads online. They continue to maintain our website, online advertising and social media posts. 

What is the team composition?

Christian (Co-Founder, Oddball Creative) is our primary contact and he does all of our targeted ads, marketing, and social media. Charlie (Web Developer, Oddball Creative) handles everything with the website. 

How did you come to work with Oddball Creative? 

I’d worked with Christian before when he worked for another company. I thought his new company was a good fit for us because I knew his track record. 

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in November 2018 and the engagement is ongoing.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We try to quantify success by asking customers how they found us. We keep track of the answer on every sale in our POS system. When we compile all that data, we see that more times than not, customers were either hit with the targeted advertising online or they saw a boosted ad on our Facebook page. That drove them to check out our website and eventually make a purchase.

The data tells us that Oddball Creative’s work is invaluable in driving both sales and clicks. Their work has been hugely helpful for getting our name out. We're in our eighth month so we're still new and we continue to grow. A lot of that growth is attributed to the work that they do. They knocked it out of the park as far as I’m concerned.

How did Oddball Creative perform from a project management standpoint? 

We're highly satisfied. Their responsiveness is fantastic. Christian is usually able to come in and take pictures of a new product and get a post up within 24 hours. We asked Charlie to make a few tweaks to our website and he took care of that right away. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The creativity is exceptional. For example, road construction closed the main road to our store for the entire month of March. It was making it difficult for people to get to us. I asked Christian what we could do on social media. He came up with a fun idea to put a pirate map on our Facebook page as if it’s a treasure hunt to get to our store. There were driving directions to get around the construction as well as a promotional discount. That was a pretty creative way to handle a bad situation. 

Their speed is also impressive. We’d been open for a couple of months and didn't have a website. Charlie got it up and running super quickly. They’re always able to do what we need in a timely manner.

Are there any areas they could improve? 

I have no complaints. I don’t know much about websites and digital marketing. They've done a great job meeting my needs, and I can be quite demanding sometimes. They've been great so at this point I don't have anything that I’d say they need to improve. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers? 

You have to have an idea of what you're looking for. These guys are talented but they're not mind-readers. They will help you through the process but you need to know as a business owner what you want out of their services. Give them direction and then give them the artistic freedom to come up with a couple of proposals. They're good at giving different options for you to pick what will work best, and you can always try an idea out and then tweak as needed.
