In March 2017, we contracted Nova Solutions to provide SEO and PPC services. Alex (Senior Marketing Consultant, Nova Solutions), who is no longer with the company, had given us a proposal for both SEO and PPC for a term of half a year.

We were charged over $6,800 USD and didn’t receive one backlink or any PPC services until we opened a Better Business Beaurau complaint against them. Then, Shamil (VP Sales, Nova Solutions) sent us backlinks that were created in the duration of one business day, which contained no content or relevance to our industry.

We were in contact with Alex, and, after he was no longer with the company, Shamil.

Can you share any statistics or metrics that speak to the quality of their work and impact of the engagement?

We also have not received any PPC services, except for them uploading a few banners onto our Google Ads campaign. Beyond the monetary loss, we’ve had to remove spam links through the Google Disavow tool.

We kept receiving lies in every email from Nova Solutions.

What impresses you about the Nova Solutions?

Nothing. They’re the worst company we’ve ever dealt with.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Nova Solutions developed a high-quality, well-performing website that's had a very positive impact on our business. The newly designed website has significantly increased leads and improved our online performance overall. 

How did Nova Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

They're great to work with. Our assigned project manager is very responsive and informative whenever we have any questions, and they provide monthly analytics reports to track progress. Their client-centric approach is one of the main reasons we continue to work with them.

Compared to other vendors I've worked with, Nova Solutions is better about keeping us updated on the performance of our website each month. They're also quick regarding requested changes, responsive to our needs, and detail-oriented.

They could be a little more transparent about how they're allocating fees by breaking down their monthly invoices into more detailed line items.

Nova Solutions built our website from scratch, which took about a month. We provided some examples of what we liked, and they did the design and development. They also established our SEO campaigns, including keyword strategies. They submit monthly analytics reports and provide ongoing website support.

They approached us and, initially, I wasn't interested. We were, however, trying to increase our visibility and get out of the Yellow Pages, which wasn’t working for us anymore. Once they explained what we could be doing; instead, it seemed like the right time to get started. I’d also seen websites that they developed for other companies and liked those.

We’ve been working since 2015, and it’s an ongoing relationship.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The site has been highly successful. Almost all of our cold calls are driven by the site and the online reviews we now have. Nova Solutions also set it up so that we only get cold calls from our region, which was important to us. They were able to write the most appropriate keywords for people to be attracted to our site.

How did Nova Solutions perform from a project management standpoint?

They perform very quickly. If we have an issue, they respond immediately. For example, we had an issue with a keyword on one of our pages that was trademarked. We wrote an email and they responded within minutes. It was taken down the next day, and they altered the whole site to use a different keyword.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I most appreciate their ability to tackle any change right away. We once had an issue where the site went down, and they handled it right away. The most important thing is that they do their job, and they do it well.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I'm happy with them as they are. They’re a small company, so we don’t have to deal with any turnover on their staff as I’ve encountered in the past. We’re a small company, and I prefer working with other small businesses. If you have a problem, there’s someone to speak with.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

The best advice I can give is that the client has to be clear and concise about what they want. That saves a lot of time between the client and the provider. We were clear about the type of service we wanted, our market, and who we wanted to target. Because I was direct, we worked better together.

Describe the project in detail.

We had several initial meetings with Shamil (VP of Sales and Business Development, Nova Solutions) to outline what we were looking for, our vision, and expectations. He gave us a thorough outline of what he could offer, including samples of work he’d done before and different elements we could incorporate into our layout. This included keywords, potential website sections, contact forms, maps, images, and videos. The site works seamlessly across all platforms, and banners, promotions, and professional affiliation badges are highlighted on landing pages.

Shamil was our key liaison with Nova and was responsible for all communications between his team and us. There were at least 2–3 other members responsible for various aspects of website design, content, and integration. Further, Nova provided contacts for videographers and photographers we needed for video/pictures for our website.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The project was a success, with Nova delivering a seamless and beautiful website. We immediately saw a spike in online inquiries and continued growth in online traffic and impressions.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Communication was key, and Shamil was always available whenever we had questions/inputs. We scheduled meetings throughout the project to ensure we were aligned in our vision and that both sides were on track.

Aside from the obviously top-quality results, dealing with Nova was hassle free. Their team was an email or call away and always responded quickly.

In under a year, our restaurant earned first-page rankings in search results. Our web traffic has increased across the board thanks to Nova Solutions’ SEO work and integration with OpenTable.

The team is highly accessible and responsive. They get to our inquiries quickly and don’t charge us extra for small requests. I wanted to improve my online exposure via SEO. After speaking with their owner, I decided to have them redesign my website as well.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They redesigned our website and provide ongoing updates and maintenance. I believe the backend is done in WordPress. We worked together to come up with the right look and feel for the new site, which included working on branding. After walking through the old site, they helped me create a new logo and tagline, choose fonts, and plan where to place our artwork. We also worked together to discuss ways to improve site functionality and user experience.

In terms of SEO, they spent six months working with us to evaluate and improve our online reach. They managed all of the keyword research and worked with our in-house writer to ensure that all of our content was properly optimized. In addition, they helped contribute a little bit of new content for us.
