We needed an internal staff management system for our organization. We were using a third-party tool earlier & wanted something of our own. We wanted a smooth transition & effortless management of the team & tasks.

Ninehertz was recommended to us by one of the service providers we are working with. We reviewed their profile on several platforms (including Clutch) and talked with their upper management to set our expectations. We gave them a small brief of our plan & asked for an execution strategy. We were delighted and at the same time impressed with their approach.

After several sessions & Shortlisting among the vendors, considering all the aspects such as tech, costing, team, support terms, etc we finalized them.

• Scope majorly included end-to-end staff management and tracking software where there were multiple roles to be assigned to various teams with specific privileges to each. There were teams allocated for Accountancy, Roster management, Marking Attendance, Technicians, Program Scheduling, Ads management, and other relevant teams for effective and efficient management of complete teams at the State level. We are also planning to upgrade the software at National Level in the next quarter of the year.
• We had a beautiful design drown out for us.
• A sequence of the tasks was planned. Several brainstorming sessions with their team to discuss the challenges & limitations.

After using the platform, we noticed a smooth workflow management. Our planning, scheduling, and team management worked absolutely seamless after our onboarding over the software. The team members’ feedback on the platform were positive & transition was smooth.

The project was managed properly on a tight schedule. We had scrum sessions before milestones. We had review meetings every couple of weeks after each milestone delivery and demo session, it was quite easy to witness the progress which kept the stockholder's trust. We used a project management tool (Active Collab) for coordination & interaction.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their interaction with our team was prompt and detailed. They briefed our team on every major and minor step. Our technical team was in sync with their team & support.

Everything went really well as we were expecting it to be.

We did get 12 bookings within the first month of go live of the application which was a positive. We are pushing for marketing and downloads.

Project management was very shabby, they did not use any project management tool. They did not meet timelines and were not bothered by the delays. Project got delayed by more than 2 months.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Nothing. No aspect at all.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Everything. Their development team does not use repository tool and use zip folder to share files. Worse, they in turn outsourced our project to someone else. Very unethical

The service provider responded on May 4, 2022.

1. Contradiction here is that the client admitted receiving 12 bookings that itself is proof of our flawless delivery.

2. Project was totally managed using an active collab tool, the client was also using it throughout the development cycle till deployment. We used slack, WhatsApp for the ease of the client  communication, also to sum up we had morning & evening stand up calls daily to meet the expectations of clients.

3. The project got delayed for duration of 10 days as our submission was on 28/01/22 but we delivered it on 11/02/22, even this was not our fault as  backend & designs were to be done from client's end which was never tested & full proof, they did changes in API till the end of project and it lead to delays in project.

During the last phase of the project, they again edited all the APIs, which took 2 days for them to get it done and 4 days for us to implement and check the responses, they accepted the fact that they proposed changes.

4. Complete code was shared through GitHub, the transfer was done in presence of client on-call as per their instruction using the commands not through any other medium.

What challenge were you trying to address with The NineHertz?

We were trying to address shipping logistics with a mobile application.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

We created and provided The NineHertz with the app’s designs. Then, they developed it from scratch for both iOS and Android platforms using React Native. They also developed an administrative system in the backend. This app allowed shipping providers to pick up packages from the clients’ houses.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a project manager, two backend developers, and one frontend developer.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between $20,000–$30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from September–December 2020.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

After the app came to life, it started working well. However, we found some bugs after a while, which made the app not work so well. Eventually, we had to sell the project because we couldn’t make it work properly.

How did The NineHertz perform from a project management standpoint?

The NineHertz took longer than expected to deliver this app. Their communication was good, and they were always available to discuss the project. However, I felt that we had a communication barrier somewhere.

I noticed that they didn’t pick up on some things that, for me, seemed very obvious. I had to be very precise with my requirements, and they didn’t dig deep into our needs. We communicated via WhatsApp.

What did you find most impressive about them?

From a cost perspective, The NineHertz were very affordable. They made our project very affordable from the beginning. However, it started to get expensive once we needed to add more features.

Are there any areas they could improve?

After The NineHertz built the app, we noticed that some features weren’t built properly. They told us that they would build them in a certain way, but they never completed them the way we expected.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be very specific since working on the contract and understand all of the aspects you want to integrate into your app. Then, make sure that all of the parties involved understand the full scope.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

I hired another development firm to analyze the code. They determined that the PHP language was not up to date, which resulted in missing methods. Relatedly, the app was not optimized for the latest iOS version. Even though we shared the features via video, The NineHertz did not comply with our specifications. Database tables were also missing that we need to populate web pages. Furthermore, the API call architecture was not up to the mark. They likely didn’t share any relevant functional code base, even for stories.

Also, we have identified features that are either non-functional or static as a prototype—not integrated with an API. The signup, login, manage profile, and logout functions work, but everything else is static.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The missed deadlines damaged potential partnerships with various hotels, agencies, and other startups. I’ll have to spend more money to re-write the current code. This experience caused me so much emotional stress that I want to request my money back.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Nothing, because none of the work was functional.

They weren’t professional and didn’t appear hardworking.

The project manager was the most vital resource to the project’s success. She translated my requests into tangible targets and updated me daily. The team worked up to seven days per week, which was amazing for European standards.

They made our ideas into a reality. Since we didn’t have previous B2C experience the project manager provided helpful constructive feedback.

They should have a dedicated conference room for Skype meetings to prevent noisy distractions.
