What challenge were you trying to address with The NineHertz?

I have a background in business and my partner has a background in scary story narration. We needed someone to help build the application and the MVP for our initial rollout. We engaged The NineHertz to help us build that out.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

The NineHertz built the entire mobile platform, both front-and-backend, for us from the ground up. They completed the coding and the application was completely customized. The application is for both iOS and Android devices and then they gave us the backend for the administration of the application. The iOS version is completely finished and the Android version is on the Play Store, but there were a couple of bugs to go back and fix. It’s in review with Google now, so it should be done shortly. We have an ongoing maintenance service contract with them for at least the next year.

What is the team composition?

Prateek (Project Manager) is our main point of contact, but there are probably between 6–10 people.

How did you come to work with The NineHertz?

We looked at a couple of different options for us. There are a couple of no-code and low-code builders out there that we considered early on, but they just didn’t meet our needs. That’s when we decided to look at a custom shop to help us build out our application. We looked at probably half a dozen different developer teams and The NineHertz team had some of the best reviews and more competitive prices for what we were trying to achieve.

We’ve invested approximately $50,000 so far.

We began working together in June 2020 and the partnership is still ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Without The NineHertz, we never would have been able to get our application out, especially with the high quality that they offer. The UI of the application is fantastic and I think it’s above and beyond what we had initially envisioned for the MVP.

How did The NineHertz perform from a project management standpoint?

They use Activecollab for project management and we use WhatsApp to communicate informally because they’re in India and we’re in the US. For more formal communication, we communicate through active collaboration.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m very impressed with their ability to solve problems. We had some features that were relatively unique and they were able to achieve that on both iOS and Android devices and make them both work seamlessly. They never once couldn’t do something.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We didn’t get the app out as quickly as we would have liked but that was sort of due to us and our own experience. There were some delays.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t be afraid to communicate and collaborate because they’re very responsive to any sort of communication. Take advantage of that and take the initiative because they’re very willing to jump on a call if there are any questions.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

As of now, it is too early to say, but we project to have 3k+ worldwide downloads within the next 2 months along with an average rating of 4 stars.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Very effective. There were no hiccups and everyone that we worked with communicated with us well, regardless of language barrier, time difference, etc.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

We really appreciate how flexible they were with us whenever we needed to readjust and modify plans. We also appreciate how often they would take initiative to search for ways to help us improve our product based on the latest updates. The NineHertz team kept us well informed!

Are there any areas for improvement?

We were satisfied all the way through! The NineHertz team did a superb job!

I m the the co founder of wepesi logistics company limited. A registered company in kenya to link drivers of trucks to a range of cargo and cargo owners. It is like an online market place for trucks and cargo.

We hired The NineHertz to design and implement a mobile application to link drivers and cargo. NineHertz was completely involved from the design and analysis phase until the final implementation. From this, WEPESI CARGO and WEPESI DRIVERS apps were launched.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted to create a system that is completely different form the products that are are already in the market that have various deficiencies and malfunctions. We wanted a system that is fast, secure and that is able to handle a large number of users at the same time.

SOLUTION

How did you select The NineHertz?

I searched online for reputable software development companies and  NineHertz were among the first to appear on the search results. I shortlisted five companies but The NineHertz came on top because of there lower rates and flexibility in payment.

They also had fast hand understanding of what i wanted. Within a short time, they had already come up with a trial version of what we wanted. We had no choice but to contract them immediately

Once we had agreed on contract details and payment schedule, they came up with the logo and user interface design preferences for me to choose. Once I had chosen my preferences, every other features of the system were implemented in phases and for every phase I was consulted to test and approve before moving to the next phase.

So actually everything I requested for was incorporated. Payment was also made according the payment schedule agreed earlier.

Initially I was assigned a project manager but half way down the project I was reassigned another one. They were the only people that i was making contact form there side.

Both of them guided me smoothly throughout the development stages. But I was made aware that there was a big team on the ground implementing the project on various capacities.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are still in the early phase of marketing and educating users on the use of the app. There has been hundreds of installs and use of the app with no downtowns. Actually installations and use of the app has been self explanatory, so training sessions have been minimal.

The vendor is still involved in maintenance and updating the app whenever there are new functionalities requested by users.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

The projected was implemented on phases in accordance with the schedule agreed upon earlier. Before moving to next phase, testing was done thoroughly and any issues resolved. Communication was frequent whenever there was need. There phone was always on, so whenever I had an issue they were always accessible and they are always.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

I was very much impressed by there knowledge of app development. They every had prior knowledge of what I wanted. The team can implement anything. Even though there was no physical connection and communication between us, everything functionality requested was implemented.

Are there any areas for improvement?

My idea was fully incorporated but users views are always welcomed. W henever a user points an issue or requests a new functionality we analyze it together with the vendor and implement it if necessary.

Out come was great we were expecting great communication and feed back and they did so.

We introduced the idea they came up with a scope of work we agreed to it they then proceeded to do a FRQ which was the contract they designed the idea into a clickable prototype They then coded the project and created a super admin panel.

i found most impressive the thought and effort put into meeting deadlines and communication was great.

I was looking for someone to develop an app for me.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The NineHertz is creating the app for me for both iOS and Android. The app deals with women’s healthcare and lifestyle, and they built it from the ground up.

We created a fictional animated character and all the movements, narration, and everything that is involved with creating little video shorts that will make up the app. They did everything from A to Z.

What is the team composition?

There are about 10–12 people working on it. There are various departments that have been involved starting with the salesperson, a project manager, and a team of developers. Everybody handles a different portion of the project.

How did you come to work with The NineHertz?

I’m doing this from Saudi Arabia during COVID-19. I was unable to get out and just started doing research on the internet. I found a few companies closer in proximity than the US and that is how I found The NineHertz. 

I went to their website and read about them. I realized they were a company that could do what I needed to do. They got back to me right away after I sent them an email inquiry.

So far, we’ve spent about $60,000. I am using their digital marketing services which run for $6,300 a month. It is substantial.

I started working with them in April 2020. The app hasn’t launched yet, but it will soon.

No one has seen it except me and my husband, and so far, we are very happy with it. I know that my project manager has told me that the different people that have seen them working on it all agree that it is very good.

How did The NineHertz perform from a project management standpoint?

The NineHertz has performed very well. We have all gone through COVID-19 together, and we have been doing this with people all over working from their homes instead of all being in the same facility, and they really navigated all of that very well. We used Skype, email, and WhatsApp to communicate.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

I don’t have much experience with other providers, but for me, the bottom line was cost and availability. They got my idea immediately and made me feel really positive. 

I shopped around with only one other team but their enthusiasm and price are what sold me on the work. I looked at their website and they have had some high-level clients. I asked for samples of what they had done, and I saw what they are capable of.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There have been some challenges with COVID-19 that nobody could have foreseen such as bad internet connection, but they work as a very good team and at this point I am happy.

What we are doing is a big ask, it is very involved, and takes a long time. The work I am getting is really good and it’s worth the extra time it has taken.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Have patience because the work is very technical. When you are dealing with the technical world, things take time, especially doing what we are doing which is animated videos. There is a lot of coding involved and it is a big job.

They developed and designed a mobile application. We gave them the requirements and then they provided wireframes and mockups and built the application. They used Lamp Stack, with a MySQL framework and PHP in the backend. For the frontend, they used HTML. 

They continue to maintain the application and handle digital marketing and app store optimization.

There are six people working on the project; a designer, two frontend developers, two backend developers, and a project manager.

We did Google searches and various other ways of trying to find a company. We have tried to work with several companies. We liked the approach, and mockups, that this team showed us, so we thought they would be a good partner.

They produced a great application that meets all of our requirements. Before the application, it was difficult to provide information to people. This app is helping us get the data to them more efficiently, which was the most important thing to us.

They have a strong technical mindset and approach. They delivered a quality product; it’s the best we’ve received.

Their wireframes and mockups could use some improvement. Perhaps it’s the website or tools they use, I’m not sure.

We were looking for a web service provider who could enhance our existing website and develop our entire system.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The NineHertz helped us to improve our digital strategy by identifying pain points and areas where we could improve the platform. They then worked directly on the platform and integrated new features, like push notifications regarding new exams or jobs. The platform is built with PHP, and they used plugins from WordPress.  They helped us fill in the gaps within our existing model. They’ve also added graphics to our website.

We worked with them on development for 3–4 months. Now, we’re working with them on digital marketing.

There are 6–7 people resources tending to our project. I was in communication with the developers, and there was a project manager assigned to our project. There was also a graphic designer, a frontend engineer, backend developers, QA engineers, a deployment engineer, and two testers.

They deliver on time, and project management is strong. The project manager was responsible for being a bridge between us and all of the developers. They used ActiveCollab, which they gave me access to. I was able to see their daily activities, Gantt charts, and milestones, as well as what features they were working on. They kept me well-informed on a daily basis. We had a meeting every day with the project manager. Whenever I had any issues, they were just a call away. Issues got resolved within an hour’s time.

They delivered my solution, and it’s working very well.

Tell them your ideas and give them time to explore what they can do for you. They will share features and ideas that can be configured into your system and ultimately benefit you and your users. They provide good consultation in terms of what technical stack to use. They will give you the best inputs on that. You should rely on them because they have the expertise.

I’d prefer it if they could also manage third-party connections. Other than that, we’re satisfied. We look forward to keeping this relationship as long as we can.
