BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the co-founder of a web business development platform. Our platform helps financial advisors locate ideal prospects in their area and enrich current prospects with contact information.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Momentum Design Lab? We asked for Momentum Design Lab's support to create our platform's UI/UX design.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Momentum Design Lab was responsible for our platform's logical UX and visual interface. We had a starting call where the team was dedicated to understanding our business, asking several questions. This discovery process comprehended three eight-hour meetings, where Momentum Design Lab took the time to understand what we offered. Then, Momentum Design Lab staffed the project accordingly, ensuring high-level designers and project managers were assigned to our project based on our timetable.
Momentum Design Lab helped us define user personas, asking us to create stories about the sample users and how they'd use our platform. We know our users well, and Momentum Design Lab conducted user testing interviews to ensure our sample users understood the platform's layout and found it easy to use. Momentum Design Lab delivered Figma files for our engineering software team to develop the platform.
What is the team composition?
I worked with Peter (Head of Design & UX), Myra (Product Deliver Lead, Client Services), Phill (Principal Product Designer), and Joanna (Principal Product Designer).
How did you come to work with Momentum Design Lab? We found Momentum Design Lab through an online search when they designed another business within our industry. We liked their work and looked at who had designed it, coming across Momentum Design Lab.
How much have you invested with them? We spent around $100,000 on this project. What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with Momentum Design Lab from September–October 2023.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We shared Momentum Design Lab's designs with a team of 5-6 software engineers to develop the platform, who explained that those designs were some of the best and most elaborate they had worked off of. The files Momentum Design Lab shared with us were robust enough to build exactly what we had in mind.
How did Momentum Design Lab perform from a project management standpoint?
Momentum Design Lab completed the work on time and within budget. The team worked according to the project's timeline, and we communicated over email and Slack. We provided a defined project budget upfront, and Momentum Design Lab worked around it.
The team asked us to prioritize the required design features and informed us that if they had designed everything we initially asked for, the project would've probably taken us over budget. We were thankful for Momentum Design Lab coming to us with that feedback upfront.
Once we prioritized the required features, we had two weekly check-in meetings with Momentum Design Lab to ensure their designs were satisfactory, which they were without a doubt. The team was very skilled and well-organized. From start to finish, we were impressed with how well Momentum Design Lab collaborated with us, creating an excellent process that we enjoyed and appreciated. The team's work exceeded our expectations.
What did you find most impressive about them?
What stood out the most about Momentum Design Lab was their design work. The team delivered clean and intuitive designs for users to work with.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can't think of anything for Momentum Design Lab to improve. The team was one of the more costly options of some alternative providers, but working with them was worth every penny. We got the quality we expected.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
I recommend being well-prepared and organized to make the most out of your time with Momentum Design Lab. Make sure you know what you want to bring to the market.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a business analyst at a company that provides HR and human capital-related services. My position is part of the corporate development department.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Momentum Design Lab?
We needed to understand two of our offering’s processes as they stood, including our customer journey.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Momentum Design Lab provided us with user research. The team interviewed internal and external stakeholders, including end clients and executive-level management teammates. They gathered insights based on which they conducted internal workshops with representatives from various departments across our company.
The team used the aggregated data to generate recommendations and enhance each part of the customer journey. Momentum Design Lab also helped create a prioritization matrix to handle the recommendations they provided, and we presented those to our executive team.
What is the team composition?
We worked with Philip (Principal Product Designer), Will (Senior Product Designer), and Myra (Product Delivery Lead). Myra acted as our project manager. Additionally, we worked with Mark (Managing Director).
How did you come to work with Momentum Design Lab?
Our mother company had worked with Momentum Design Lab. When we were looking for consulting firms for this project, we found Momentum Design Lab registered within our vendor management system. Their previous engagement with our mother company ended on a very positive note, and the deliverables were good. For these reasons, we decided to go with Momentum Design Lab.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent between $100,000–$200,000
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from April–June 2023.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We had success criteria with three main objectives. First, we wanted to enhance and streamline our customer journey, which we achieved with Momentum Design Lab's recommendations. Secondly, we wanted to increase positive word of mouth, which was achieved thanks to the on-site interviews with our key accounts. These interviews showed our commitment and how seriously we took our client relationships. We also accomplished our third objective.
Overall, I was happy with the project’s success, which is also the opinion of all the parties involved. Thanks to Momentum Design Lab, we understood our customer journey, gathered the necessary insights, and adjusted our ideal customer journey. The team was very friendly and cooperative. Moreover, they delivered everything they promised.
How did Momentum Design Lab perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project management was on point; they went above and beyond to satisfy our requests. They delivered ahead of time. Although we faced challenges due to the time difference, Momentum Design Lab still pulled everything off.
Two of Momentum Design Lab’s consultants worked on-site with us, and during that period, it was easier for us to work together. Meanwhile, the project manager was based in the US. Still, she was there whenever we contacted her for help.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I was impressed at how genuinely curated Momentum Design Lab’s services were. While many companies have templates they adjust to while claiming to provide personalized services, Momentum Design Lab provided two senior designers who worked hard and produced bespoke deliverables.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could have been more proactive during the project. For example, they could have suggested additional tasks when something went beyond the agreement. Even though it would imply more work on their end, the proactive approach is always appreciated in a service provider. However, our experience working with them was great overall.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I recommend working with Philip, Will, and Myra, who were great. Mark was also amazing.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there. I’m the director of marketing for a sports and athletic company that makes kinesiology tape and various other performance and recovery products. I’m responsible for our digital marketing and e-commerce.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Momentum Design Lab? We engaged with Momentum Design Lab to help prepare to launch our mobile application.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement? Momentum Design Lab designed the UX/UI of our mobile app. After a discovery phase, we went through several rounds of creative iteration with their team as they presented versions of the app’s structure and designs. Our app educates users on how to apply our product to their bodies. Momentum Design Lab came up with the idea to make the in-app videos more hands-free, knowing that the user would use both hands to apply the product. They introduced functionality that would make it easier for the consumer to control the video without using their hands. We also had a usability testing phase to ensure that our designs were holding and that the UX/UI was understandable for existing and new product users. We provided the overall persona we were targeting, and Momentum Design Lab helped us define two specific personas for the app. We worked with them to recruit existing and new product users to be interviewed by Momentum Design Lab. After usability testing, we went through a finalization phase where Momentum Design Lab incorporated additional changes. Then, we transitioned the project over to app developers outside of Momentum Design Lab. Figma was the main design tool used for all of the phases of the project.
What is the team composition? There were three core members of the team: a UX designer, a UI expert, and an engagement manager, who started speaking to us during the sales process and carried the project through the delivery. There was also a director who worked on the discovery with us and checked in at the middle and end of the project.
How did you come to work with Momentum Design Lab? I used Clutch to find them.
How much have you invested in them? We spent between $80,000–$90,000.
What is the status of this engagement? We worked with them from January 2023–April 2023.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? During usability testing, 80%–100% of users were able to navigate the app successfully and understand its main features. Momentum Design Lab’s UX/UI designs were complete, which has made the development phase very smooth. We haven’t launched the app yet, but the results from Momentum Design Lab were quite good. Overall, it was a successful project.
How did Momentum Design Lab perform from a project management standpoint? Momentum Design Lab has stayed in touch even though their part of the project is finished. Their support has been great on small items the developers need to follow up on. Momentum Design Lab was flexible with regard to our decision-making timeline. Our feedback loop was slower than we anticipated because more of our internal teammates wanted to impact each phase. We managed the project through Slack, Figma, and Basecamp.
What did you find most impressive about them? Their discovery process was very thorough, which was good. Our product presents a unique challenge since it’s a medical device that we market as an athletic product. They did a very good job understanding our company before we continued the process.
Are there any areas they could improve? They weren’t cheap, but we got what we paid for. A smoother recruiting process probably would’ve helped the project; we had a goal to interview more people than we did.
Do you have any advice for potential customers? Aligning expectations on the timing of feedback upfront will be really helpful.

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the director of Visualising Software Limited, a tech startup. We’re currently developing a premium mobile fitness app. My key responsibilities are ensuring that the development pipeline runs as smoothly as possible.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Momentum Design Lab?
We are building the product from the ground up, and it was important to us to establish a classy interface with a unique style and brand from the onset. We wanted to collect UX research for two distinctive areas of the app.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Momentum Design Lab provided UI/UX design services. We had various calls before starting pre-production meetings. We provided them with a basic UI prototype and documentation explaining some of the challenges we were facing and the things we wanted to focus on. From that point, Momentum Design Lab conducted the necessary UX research.
They researched and defined user personas to identify the clearest approach for designing the interface. We used their discovery research to test and strategize our marketing campaign. They used Figma to design everything.
What is the team composition?
We were assigned three teammates: Joanna (Principal Product Designer), Myra (Product Delivery Lead & Client Services), and another designer.
How did you come to work with Momentum Design Lab?
I initially searched on Google for the top UI/UX studios in London. Then, I discovered a list on Clutch and contacted Momentum Design Lab and a few other highly-respected companies. Every company had an impressive portfolio and unique take on how to approach the project, but Momentum Design Lab’s CEO offered the clearest strategy and sound advice on how to divide the budget, assign the necessary resources, and maximize our return by delivering high-quality screens.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent $50,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked with them from November–December 2022.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re still in development, so it’s difficult to assess the impact right now. We’re being private about the product, but we’re confident that people will love the interface when we release it. The design was exceptional. Moreover, the UX research Momentum Design Lab conducted was extremely useful when we strategized our launch campaigns.
How did Momentum Design Lab perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management was excellent. We were kept informed as to how they were distributing our budget, and they were very sensitive to our time constraints for delivery as we were running many critical development tests from our side. Momentum Design Lab understood and managed every milestone flawlessly. At any stage, we never felt that the delivery time would be in jeopardy. They did an exceptional job; it was a smooth process from start to finish.
We used different tools to communicate, including Basecamp and a private Slack channel. We used emails for confidential information regarding budgeting and other things of that nature. Overall, Momentum Design Lab will go above and beyond to ensure communication channels are as productive as possible for the client.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were very agile and methodical when adjusting the design features after receiving our feedback. Moreover, the team completed high-quality work in the given time frame.
Are there any areas they could improve?
No, we don’t have any suggestions. Momentum Design Lab performed their service at a high standard.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I recommend preparing the necessary documentation so they can do their job up to the high standard they’re known for.

Momentum Design Lab helped a 911 software provider redesign their product’s UX. The process included a discovery workshop and a wireframing process to create low- and high-fidelity Figma prototypes.
Momentum Design Lab facilitated a collaborative process where teammates from the client’s different departments participated, ultimately creating an impactful experience for the organization. The team was communicative via Basecamp and Slack, and they excelled at listening to the client’s needs.

transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m a department VP for a 911 software provider. We provide call-handling software to 911 operators that helps them ask the right questions in emergency situations.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Momentum Design Lab?
We worked with Momentum Design Lab to look at some UX enhancements for our software product.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Momentum Design Lab helped us enhance our product’s UX. Initially, they took us through a design innovation lab workshop, where they helped us define our ideal user persona. The workshop included doing extensive research into our product to see how it currently operated, as well as some interviews with end users to see how they were using the product.
After the workshop, Momentum Design Lab used Figma extensively to create some low-fidelity and high-fidelity prototypes. During this process, we went through a long series of wireframes to reimagine our app.
What is the team composition?
We worked with various teammates from Momentum Design Lab, including the head of UX, a team of 3–4 designers (one of which was a senior designer), and a main project manager responsible for keeping timelines and budgets in order. Additionally, the project manager was assisted part-time by another resource from their team who helped with the requirements definition.
How did you come to work with Momentum Design Lab?
We found them on Clutch. Our CEO and I had talked about reimagining our apps’ UX, so we shortlisted around 30 firms for the project. From there, we narrowed the list down to five firms that got into the final phase, and Momentum Design Lab was the winner among the finalists.
How much have you invested with them?
We spent between $250,000–$500,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from October 2022–February 2023.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We’re still in the development stage for this product, so we don’t have any metrics regarding Momentum Design Lab’s work. However, our engagement had a huge impact on our organization.
We had the chance to involve 10 cross-functional teammates from different areas of our company, who participated in re-imagining our product’s UX. The fact that Momentum Design Lab involved different people in the process was very beneficial to jumpstart it and get ideas coalesced for the direction we were moving in.
Now, we’re transitioning from an on-premise product to a cloud-based product, which will be a significant transition for our business. Momentum Design Lab’s design process allowed us to get input from people across our different departments who wouldn’t normally be involved in the process.
Their team was great at balancing our needs for the project and managing a very large team with very different opinions from our side. Ultimately, our project was a very healthy exercise for our organization. Instead of doing the silent product development we did in the past that only involved a few selected people, we opened the doors to other areas of our company to help us define how that product would look like.
How did Momentum Design Lab perform from a project management standpoint?
Momentum Design Lab’s performance was outstanding. Throughout the project, we received weekly project reports from the project manager about billing and hours, demonstrating excellent accounting and communication skills.
As for time and budget management, we agreed to do an extra week of work because the wireframing phase ran a little bit longer than expected. Still, Momentum Design Lab’s plan was coming in on budget, but we agreed to extend that budget slightly to get the remaining work done.
However, those overages weren’t Momentum Design Lab’s fault. Ours was a tough product to work on with a very tough use case, so we put the designers through an extensive wireframing process to assess different ideas.
Throughout the project, Momentum Design Lab communicated everything clearly. For example, if they identified red flags early on about things that would delay certain phases of the project, they let us know. They used Basecamp for project management, as well as Slack for communication.
What did you find most impressive about them?
Momentum Design Lab did their job right throughout the project and helped us get where we wanted to go. Overall, their work was tremendous.
Are there any areas they could improve?
It would have been great if Momentum Design Lab had been more open to giving feedback. Sometimes, we can be loud and have very strong opinions, but we also have thick skins. Thus, it would have been great if they were more critical of some of the ideas we put forward, telling us if they heard a bad idea before we got further down the process. Still, they were wonderful and brought everything to life in the right way.

BACKGROUND
Please describe your company and your position there.
Department Head at innovative biotech
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
For what projects/services did your company hire Momentum Design Lab?
We wanted an intuitive but visually appealing user interface/experience to help with browsing very large volumes of scientific data - the challenge was making human insights easier while retaining the fine detail
SOLUTION
How did you select this vendor?
Searched various review sites, looked at portfolios and reviews. Selected a shortlist of 3 and did interviews.
Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.
Their team conducted an initial product brief with our specialist users, then engaged in roughly 4 weeks of iterative design work with a couple of catchups a week with the same users. Progress was shared via a SaaS tool where we could leave comments in addition to feedback during meetings.
How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?
Worked directly with a couple of designers and project manager.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?
Very pleased with the outcome from a design perspective, but also the interaction with their team throughout the process. The designers were enthusiastic and above all capable of understanding a complex problem well outside their usual scope - engaging with the challenge and making it their own independently pushing the design outside of our suggested ideas. They really brought their expertise to our knowledge, rather than relying on us telling them exactly what was needed.
How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?
Very good, frequent collaboration made for an easy workflow. Questions were very clearly put and demonstrating good understanding of the problem, and pinpointing the challenges accurately.
What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?
They had the ability to quickly and fearlessly adapt to a new industry and understand a technical subject. The clear passion and enthusiasm for good design and the quality of the final product.
Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?
Nothing of note.

A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the executive creative director at a head of payment platform for crypto companies.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Momentum Design Lab?
Most of all, we needed a coherent design system that we could take across all our products, including our most important payments platform. Also, we needed to reshape the UX to address our current customer needs. We had to relook at some of the tasks across the platform and ensure we had the most seamless journey for our customers.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Initially, we gave Momentum Design Lab a brief with the few objectives we needed to tackle. They came back with a standard design and thinking methodology. Mostly, they looked at the user stories and journeys to determine the objectives and tasks users needed to achieve. They also looked a bit beyond the scope.
Ultimately, they came up with solutions to tackle those problems, issues, and opportunities and created a UI and design system. They used Figma for the UX/UI and design.
What is the team composition?
Mark (Managing Director) popped in and out of calls to ensure everything went smoothly. We worked with Jonathan (Principal Product Designer) as our lead UX designer, Mikey (Senior Product Designer) as a UI designer, and a project manager.
How did you come to work with Momentum Design Lab?
We put an RFP at a few agencies. Early in the pitching phase, Momentum Design Lab introduced us to the team we’d work with. We had a natural chemistry, which was important for us. Also, we’d seen their credentials and some clients' testimonials. We thought they’d be an excellent company, and we’re glad we made that choice.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from April–July 2022. It was a six-week process.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
Since we haven’t gone into production, we don’t have proper measurements. However, we ran our clients through some demos, and the responses were absolutely brilliant. We were really pleased with the results and our collaboration. They accepted any challenge and always came back with ideas.
How did Momentum Design Lab perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management was excellent. It was a challenging project, especially due to the several internal and external stakeholders. However, they handled everything well.
They used Monday, but we used ClickUp internally, so we asked them if they could try to use our system. They went above and beyond to learn it and help us with project management.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They were a top-caliber agency. If you look at their clients, it speaks for itself. However, one of the key things about working with them was that they constantly listened to us. They always asked for feedback to incorporate it. Also, if they didn’t agree with something, they challenged us while still listening to what we wanted.
Are there any areas they could improve?
When we started to do the demos with clients, we didn’t look at the feedback to see if we could address something immediately. However, it was a minor point. Overall, I can’t think of anything they could improve on.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
When you’re working with an agency, it’s important to meet the people you’ll work with first. You need to know that you’ll be able to collaborate with them.
