My company is called MyFuelmate, a startup in Africa. Our vision is that every consumer should pay less for quality fuel. Our mission is to create an app where crowd sourcing the data provided by the consumer makes fuel prices available to all consumers. I am the Chief Technology and Executive Officer.

What challenge were you trying to address with Mobulous Technologies?

We needed to find a way to make the lowest fuel prices in a given location available to users, and to reward users with points for reporting prices. We also wanted to make it possible for users to earn points.

What was the scope of their involvement?

The scope was to develop mobile apps for Android and iOS, and a website that would interface with the apps.

How did you come to work with Mobulous Technologies?

We announced the project request on a bid platform and received over twenty applicants that were interested in our project. We interviewed a short list of five providers based on their previous work and reviews. We narrowed the final choice down to two, and Mobulous offered a cost discount to work within our budget.

The project was expected to cost about $10,000, but thanks to the discount Mobulous offered us because we are a startup, the cost has been reduced to $5,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project was completed in about five months.

We had great results from the project deliverables.

How did Mobulous Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

Mobulous can be very demanding on themselves and always seemed to drive for a quick delivery. They were in constant touch with us to verify where they were in the development process.

Are there any areas Mobulous Technologies could improve?

They could make greater use of conference calls for project updates, and demonstrations to reduce or supplement e-mails. Distorted communication could be reduced by allowing project meetings with the project manager and the actual developers.

Brand Realty Services is based in Noida, India. We deal in real estate transactions for residential, industrial, and commercial properties. We also publish a paper every two weeks named Realtor Today in the Delhi region.

I am a business analyst and look after the software requirements of the company.

We wanted to develop an app version of Realtor Today that would contain new listings and classified advertising.

Mobulous was involved in the full development of the project from beginning to end. They provided us with development, a project plan, and QA [quality assurance].

Mobulous was first short listed through a Google search. Then, we had a meeting with their owner. He sounded promising. We went through their previous work, met the Mobulous team, were definitely convinced, and consequently selected them for this work.

The project took about four to five months.

What were the results of the project?

We have recently launched the app and, consequently, are not at the point where we can define results.

What did you find most impressive about Mobulous?

Yes. Mobulous's client service was very good. They listened to our requirements and worked on them very well.

Are there any areas Mobulous could improve?

Improvement is a very subjective thing and, of course, every one of us can improve in spite of the quality we deliver. If there were anything Mobulous could improve on, it would be in the area of design and creativity.

Adris Infotech is a consumer Internet company established in 2011 and it’s located in Noida, India. Our earlier ventures included UsedGolfPanet.com, a one-stop shop for all golfing needs. Our current product, MapMyMeet, is an invitation, driving, and coordination app for social and corporate events.

I am the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Operations Manager.

What was the business challenge you were trying to address with Mobulous?

We needed to create a working, efficient, and bug free mobile app at a reasonable price. Mobile app developers tend to be either too expensive or lacking in experience.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of the project?

The app uses location-based services, chat application, reminders, e-invitations, location sharing, navigation directions, and so forth.

What was your process for selecting Mobulous to work with?

We connected with more than ten developers and personally met with four or five companies in the Noida area. We became convinced that Mobulous could deliver, and their price was near my original estimate.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

So far we have spent between $20,000 and $30,000 working with Mobulous.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project took four or five months, starting at the end of 2014.

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

We have had approximately 5,000 downloads handling more than 300 sessions each day with minimal bugs.

What distinguishes Mobulous from other providers?

Mobulous complied with all reasonable and logical changes during the project. Their input for improving the app and user interface was very valuable. Mobulous provided excellent communication throughout the project.

Is there anything Mobulous could have improved or done differently?

Although detailed testing of the app was not under their scope of work, they could have arranged for more extensive testing in the field.

We have developed a mobile phone app called HitchAHike. It's a platform which allows people who are travelling to connect and come together when taking the same route for a journey.

From a short-term point of view, we aim to promote the service within a local area. Within the next 12 months, I aim to see an increase in the amount of people using the service. In the long-term, I would like to see the app become an alternative to public transport. When a person is making a journey from one town to another, rather than going online and booking a train ticket, they could use HitchAHike.

I needed resources for developing my app.

Please describe the scope of their involvement in greater detail.

Mobulous helped me develop the app and created a website for it. They also worked on media for the app store description pages, and created a 30-second tutorial video which shows users how the app functions. It isn't a very complicated process, but I thought that it would be a good thing to have a video.

How did you come to work with Mobulous Technologies?

I found them through peopleperhour.com, which is a website that brings together people looking to get a job done with those that can do the job. I was looking to get a mobile app developed, so I submitted an application and received responses with quotes from mobile developers. I selected Mobulous out of the list. I wanted to work with a respectable and credible company, which had experience in developing this type of app. I didn't want to work with solo freelancers. Mobulous ticked the box in this respect, and in terms of budget.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The total development cost for the app was between $6,500 and $7,000 [4,500 - 5,000 GBP].

What is the status of this engagement?

The app was finished a couple of months ago. I was expecting certain features to be implemented which weren't yet functioning properly, so I got back in touch with Mobulous in order to fix these issues.

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

Mobulous completed what they set out to do and were true to their word. I've done some testing for the app personally. Everything worked well and good, except for a couple of hiccups. As I mentioned, Mobulous has been helping me to get some updates in place as a result.

How did Mobulous Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?

As far as timescales are concerned, there was a bit of a delay, but it was as a result of extra features and design changes which I requested. Ultimately, Mobulous finished the project for the agreed-upon price and within schedule. We've had a very good collaboration, even though Mobulous worked remotely.

What distinguishes Mobulous Technologies from other providers?

I have to compliment Mobulous on their response rate and timing. They've always been available to me with suggestions and alternative ideas. Mobulous is straight to the point and precise.

Is there anything Mobulous Technologies could have improved or done differently?

I would have liked to be able to meet Mobulous' team and sit down with them, but we are restricted in this regard, being thousands of miles apart.

When I went back to Mobulous in order to get the non-working features fixed, the extra work involved more cost. I did put forward the argument that those features were supposed to be part of the initial design.

We do in-house development, and we have projects, such as websites, e-commerce, and payment solutions. Our application is built to provide our service all around the world. There are thousands of services, including chat, voting on contests, and participating in quiz competitions. You can subscribe to free or premium subscriptions, get lots of content, and purchase content. You can charge your account with several different payment methods like credit card, prepaid card, and also the Google Play store or App Store for iOS. We have completed the application in Android and iOS as well as tablet versions.

We hadn't done a mobile application, so that is why we needed Mobulous Technologies.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

They built the Android and iOS version of the application. We feel very comfortable with them because their whole team has been very cooperative since the beginning. Their iOS skills are excellent. They do the wireframes for us, then they discuss with us, we correct the wireframes, and make changes as we require them. After we complete the wireframes, they start the designing phase.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

Our project was between $15,000 and $20,000. Their cost is very good compared with other companies. Other companies wanted a big budget to do my project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them at the end of January this year [2015], and the first version of the application was completed last week. We plan on making three different versions, so we have already planned to go with them for the next two or three versions. Yesterday we started 1.1, and another two versions will be developed by them.

Could you share any feedback from this engagement?

This company is very good because they take the time to make the changes. We have developed the web application but, in the wireframes, we just take a sketch of the mobile application. When we go for the implementation, there are many things we face that are complex, and they help us solve any issues.

Their project management is very good. They use Basecamp to keep us updated. With this tool, we can track the project while it's going on and see what is happening with the project.

What distinguishes Mobulous Technologies from other providers?

Mobulous Technologies is very flexible on requirement gathering, analysis, and development. If we find a bug or an unnecessary complexity, then we ask Mobulous to change the flaw. They do it, and this is very good. It is very important for the development. If we go into the development phase, there might be some changes. The main advantage with them is that they accept the changes.

There weren't any problems with my team.

The client is a small software company based in Melbourne, Australia. The company has less than 10 employees, but specializes in good quality and unique content. The client is the CTO and responsible for all technology projects. 

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

We had a concept for an app that would help the e-commerce industry. We wanted to improve the point-of-sale process with mobile and Web applications. We wanted to have apps built for iOS and Android plus have Web terminal applications available for sellers.

The challenge was finding the best development team at the right price. Australian developers are very expensive, so we looked offshore.

SOLUTION

We decided to hire Mobulous Technologies after researching firms online and viewing their previous work. We wanted to do two versions of the app: For web and on mobile. We did two versions each on iOS and Android.

The project was very large and took around 14 months. Mobulous was able to develop an app successfully on all three platforms. Buyers were able to see special offers in real time on mobile devices and computers. The app should be revolutionary for online sales. Buyers and sellers will benefit.

Mobulous performed very well in all facets of the project. They finished the development on time and on budget. They were very responsible and flexible throughout the long project. They always responded well to our questions. I really have no improvements to suggest for Mobulous. I recommend Mobulous to others.

We started from the ground up, to design and get this app going. The only services were mobile app design and development.

They've done support for 45 days after the app was developed. We've kept them on just in case we want to add more features.

We went on Guru.com and liked their profile.

Can you give a sense of the size of the project, with a general cost range?

They spent a ton of hours, I don't know the exact amount. I started dealing with them more than a year ago. It started off just linking to Google Maps, giving them latitude and longitude details.

When was the work completed?

It's pretty much done now. It's just trying to fix some bugs here and there, and tweaking it a little bit. We're trying to get a custom map route done, but we're having a really hard time finding a company that'll let us do that. So, we're just waiting and seeing if we can find some mapping company that'll allow us to use custom routes.

They've been extremely patient with us. They'd get everything done the way we wanted it, and I'd come back multiple times trying to tweak it because I'm more of a perfectionist. I wanted to make it the best app possible. I have never seen anything like it out there, so I think we're the first. They've really been patient and engaged in the project.

Is there anything unique about them that really makes them stand out, compared to other developers?

I've never worked with other developers, so I don't know. I would imagine that the cost would have been a lot more if I would have went with an American developer. There were times where we just kept on adding stuff before we let them go live with it.

Did they charge you for those additional features?

It depended on the size, but it was just little tweaks here and there. One week would become a month or two, but they were really patient with us.

Looking back on the work so far, is there any area that you think Mobulous Technologies could improve upon or something you might do differently?

Sometimes, communication is a little difficult because we're in the U.S. and they're in India. They would use Skype, which is a good thing. There would be some days where they were either offline or busy, and I'd be trying to get a hold of them, and just had no idea what happened. So, the communication was a little hesitant, a little bit challenging. Overall, they've always come back and seen to everything to our satisfaction. I'm sure they were frustrated with us because we were really picky.
