I am the General Manager of Boozebite Company based in Nairobi, Kenya. Boozebite is an on-demand liquor ordering and delivery app that helps customers order for their favorite alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverage right from the comfort of their location.

We wanted to develop a mobile app that will help customers order their favorite drink from the comfort of the location they are in. With the emergence of the Covid pandemic, customers have been confined at home and so with the Boozebite mobile app, customers can now order and have their favorite beverage delivered to their home.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We searched online for app developers in our area. Unfortunately the developer we got did a shoddy job and so we reached out to Mobicommerce who did a fantastic job and why we chose them is because of the cost estimate, project timelines, design skills and customer support and experience.

We had a series of meetings online and they came up with a project plan that we could follow as the app was being developed. We used Basecamp as the platform for communication and for getting updates as the project proceeded. In the plan, they gave an outline of what will be needed. This includes the website access, the developer account access (for both Google and Apple), the mobile application publishing info and finally the UDID for IOS demo app.

A project manager was assigned to be our main point of contact throughtout the project. Additionally, i mostly interacted with another developer who assist in the front and backend.

Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

After the completion of the mobile app, we went ahead to market the app on social media and from that, we have seen tremendous results from customers downloads, customers placing orders through the app, customers being able to make payment as well through the app and basically the customer experience they have had which is a huge plus on our end.

The project manager was easy to communicate with and provided frequent updates. We used basecamp as the tool for communication and the response time from him was amazing. Everything was delivered on time and we received ample warning if a deadline wasn't going to be met. All in all, the project was delivered on time without any delay whatsoever.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Their mobile app development skills blew me away. The UX designs are phenomenal both in mobile and web. Their professionalism and patience were good compared with others who came up with the same app but failed terribly. Therefore, having the patience to walk with us through the development process was amazing.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

To be honest, i'm truly satisfied with how this project was handled from start to end.

We established the roots of our offline business in 2014 but then we realized the need to serve a wider audience via their convenient online platform. Yes, definitely. MobiCommerce offered us their custom mobile app and web solution with custom features, which has Magento as back-end and React as front-end technology. As we are serving in two different locations, the inventory and product availability also differs. They have created separate country-wise panels along with multi-currency and multi-language features to be a customer-friendly.

Team consists of a dedicated designer, a web developer, an android and iOS app developer, a project manager, a business administration team and a support manager. The entire team member has played their role quite impressively during the process.

We were quite in dilemma for the success of the online platform as several brands are already present in the market. However, the solution has given super-scaling growth not only to our brand recognition but also to the sales in the initial phase of launch.

The transition of the project was too good; there was smooth handholding from one phase to another. I did not have to worry about the deliverables, as the project manager was quite experienced and worthy to manage the tasks well.

We were quite impressed with the approach that each member considers the minute detail about the project and does the high-end analysis from the end-users point of view. This actually helps an entrepreneur to run and drive successful audiences to their business.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Due to certain changes in the plan and scope of work, there was a bit of delay in the project, which they may keep in buffer and deliver the end outcome as a pre-determined date.

Scope of the project was to develop a solution with PWA website and mobile applications with M-Pesa payment gateway integration. Being non IT person, I can manage my whole online solution at the fingertips, and found the same Solution.

Connected with the Sales person first and then from the development team to support team, all the departments are very co-operative and of course supportive. At all the stage from the beginning they have helped us to build our dream into reality and to showcase our brand in Online Market.

As of now we have grocery store in my area, and selling grocery items offline, but with the ease of technology we came online too, which helps to boost customer satisfaction and business revenue.

It was impressive. Project updates we used to receive every time with no follow-ups. The team is dedicated and they meet the deadlines.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The Project manager is so co-operative that I don’t have to talk to all the departments, it’s just I convey the msg to one person and team work for the goal of the project, so there’s no chance to miss a single point of requirement.

I can say when the quality matters price is a least thing you prefer, I found this company as a dream builder. I hope they improve more in upcoming technologies and do the best for clients like us.

We shortlisted three vendors, one of which was MobiCommerce. We were looking for someone who had sufficient technical capabilities and could coordinate with our Dynamics AX partner. MobiCommerce met that criteria.

We started with a series of conference calls and a document highlighting our requirements and customizations. All developments were tested, and issues were reported in time to be resolved. The main challenge was testing the real-time click and collect at store feature we duplicated from our web store.

The Android app has been published to the Play Store, and we’re waiting for the iOS app to be published.

They recommended we used Basecamp for our communication, which worked well. We met face-to-face twice as well.

Their extensive Magento knowledge helped us a lot.

The initial phase of the project wasn’t very clear, and we had a little set back as the assigned project manager went on sick leave. Unfortunately, they were unable to pass on the briefing of our initial requirements, and it had to be redone.

This is more of a suggestion than feedback, but they could add their own CMS, even as an extension on magento. I am glad they are stepping away from Cordova and moving very fast with the industry and providing from what it seems like it a great PWA solution.
