Initially, their team connected with us to understand our requirements and also offered their suggestions. They were technical very clear about what could be done and what not. They provided us with the solution using EDI (Electronic Data Interchange) and API solutions to monitor deliveries. 
We have opted for support and maintenance. Their technical team provides prompt solutions for our issues.

I didn't have any issues with the team or the work. However, they could be clearer about the project deadlines.

I’m the creative director, so I handle all the creative aspects of website building, app building, advertising, and growing brand strategy for various clients.

We needed help with the frontend and backend development of a Magento platform.

We’ve done several projects with them. We recently began a new project with a crafting company that required a big Magento build. It was four individual websites with one central database and more than 2,000 products in the catalog. They did the frontend and backend development. We’ve also had them work on WordPress and other platforms. 

What is the team composition? 

I worked with multiple project managers on their end. They’d break off into individual frontend and backend, application, and mobile groups. We’ve had 10 people at most on the team at once, but I’ve worked with up to 30 different developers.

They had worked on a project previously for the CEO of the company. They had built a demo for a social networking platform.

We started working together in January 2015 and the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We rely on them 100% for their technical ability with anything we build. We had an issue where the server was going down once we hit 100 users. That basically had to cease all marketing until we could figure it out so we were unable to run successful campaigns without the site crashing. They were able to resolve that issue for us. We were then able to begin advertising.

How did Master Software perform from a project management standpoint?

They were great. I give them a task then we walk through the particulars. They’re responsive; they ask questions and then develop. Some items take some back and forth and others they’re able to get most of the way there without much input from me. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re good people. They’re thoughtful in sending birthday cards. They work hard and do their best in any given project.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No. I’m happy with where they’re at.

It comes back to communication. The better you’re able to communicate with them and communicate your needs on a given project, the better they’re going to perform.

I’m the founder and principal of Time Leverage Capital. We work in the trading of commodities, futures, derivatives, etc. We've developed different types of educational and trading software over the years and are now getting more involved in systems and artificial intelligence trading strategies.

What challenge were you trying to address with Master Software Solution?

We wanted to come up with a user-friendly frontend to provide education about different types of strategies and options in trading. A lot of books and materials that exist are text-heavy with few visual aids. We wanted to create something that clearly explained complicated ideas in a more visual and understandable way.

What was the scope of their involvement?

A lot of the work Master Software Solution [MSM] did centered around incorporating calculations of different ticks. Futures don't work on a decimal system like stocks, so MSM had to do customized work to convert price movements based on the different tick values. They also had to include different types of options (long or short) into combination trades or spread trades that require a lot of accuracy and precision in programming. The particular technical details and software were discussed and used between them and our own IT people.

What is the team dynamic?

Our project manager mainly coordinated with their project manager, but several involved team members communicated as needed.

How did you come to work with Master Software Solution?

We found them on an outsourcing website and liked their price and portfolio, so we hired them.

We’ve spent around $100,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in October of 2016.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We surveyed clients and elicited anecdotal testimonials, and it’s all been great responses so far. Clients say their understanding of this financial instrument has much improved thanks to our educational product.

How did Master Software Solution perform from a project management standpoint?

There was a lot of communication, and, given the complexity of the work that we’re doing, it was all necessary communication. We initially used Mantis, but now we’re using Asana for project management and Google sheets to share documents. Whenever needed, though, they accommodate to our workflow and preferences.

What did you find most impressive about them?

MSM is mindful of its reputation, so they work with integrity and have a highly professional image. They’re quality oriented, proud of their work, and respected as real professionals.

Are there any areas they could improve?

It's always important to keep working on ways to improve communication and efficiency of communication because, with complex projects, it's time-consuming to communicate the exact objectives that you have. That’s really for any organization, though.

Be as precise as possible in what you want because, once you convey it clearly, MSM will get it done.

I'm the head of IT at Ellison, which is a die-cutting manufacturer. Our products are mainly aimed at crafters — the dies enable you to cut out special patterns and shapes without scissors. My main role at the company involves overseeing day to day maintenance projects for the website, systems, and infrastructure.

Our website was going down almost every day. I worked with their team to stabilize the site.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They've improved our performance by fixing a number of bugs over the past year or so. Our site contains a lot of customization, and they went through all of the code to revise it for us. They've also enhanced several features, implemented caching, optimized the site, and implemented e-gift card functionality. Right now they handle our day-to-day maintenance, and I'm currently working with them to upgrade to Magento 2.

I directly interact with the CEO and their lead developer. I also have a team of five developers, including ones specifically focused on QA and UX.

We have a Magento website that was developed by Separation Degrees, but once it was finished all the contract developers left. We were with still with Separation Degrees at that time, and they brought in Master Software Solutions to take over the work.

We've seen a big impact on performance optimization. Before they came in, I had to deal with the site going down almost every day, but the changes they implemented have resolved those errors and I don't experience downtime anymore. It took them a bit of time to work out all the bugs, of course, but it was a major accomplishment.

They communicated well. We use Jira for most things, and then GitHub for looking at the code. The process is going smoothly, and they also update me daily on the status of their ongoing work.

They deliver on time. They're also very patient and flexible. They really work at our convenience, which is helpful.

They could do a bit better on how they write their technical documentation.

At the beginning, the workflow was very smooth. There were a few delays towards the end of the project due to unforeseen issues, but they always addressed them as quickly as possible.
