Manao built the entire Anyday platform from scratch. This included a microservice backend on Azure with ASP.NET Core, an Angular web frontend, a React Native mobile app, and full integration with Visa and Mastercard payment rails. They also supplied UX designers, a solution architect, and a project manager so we could focus on the business side. We had no in-house developers when we started. They assembled the full team and got us to first payment in October 2020.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We launched on time and within budget. First payment processed October 2020. Since then, Anyday has grown to 300,000 consumers, 4,000+ merchant partners, and passed 1 billion DKK in total payment volume. The platform Manao built is still running it all.

We were a startup with no technical team, so we were heavily dependent on them getting things right. They delivered on time, communicated clearly across the Denmark/Thailand time difference, and flagged issues before they became problems. When requirements changed, they adapted without it becoming a big deal.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

They could assemble a complete team fast. Backend, frontend, mobile, architecture, design all from one place. For an early-stage startup that was the difference between launching in 2020 or 2021.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Manao Software could have done differently?

Earlier documentation of technical decisions would have helped as we started building our own in-house team and needed to take over parts of the codebase. Not a dealbreaker, but something to be aware of when planning a future handover.

Develop a mobile App with dual language and off-line capability that can be downloaded from the Android PlayStore and Apple App store and used by rice farmers who have limited IT experience.  The App will allow farmers to upload images, data and geolocation information to enable remote monitoring of compliance with a supply chain standard for low carbon rice cultivation.  The App will also collect the data required to make scientifically valid calculation of the reduction in CO2e emissions from the production of rice. 

Images and data from the App to be uploaded to a secure, online Admin system using Azure cloud storage.  The Admin back end must be able to approve new users, suspend users, display images and data for simple desktop review and generate a variety of reports and export data to Excel.  Corporate levels of data encryption and security are required as the final customer for the data is a major supermarket retailer.

Ease of use by farmers in brightly lit external environments was essential, and a clear, user-obvious interface was an essential feature.  Support must be provided to release the App to Android and Apple App stores, plus ongoing, dual-langauge techncial support during the implementation period.  The customer and the users have limited technical knowledge, so we required knowledgeable and patient communication and support.

100% of the rice farmers were able to use the mobile App successfully

A 97% compliace rate with the retailers low carbon rice buying specification in Year 1, rising to 99% in Year 2 (compared to a 3% compliance rate in a comparable scheme where the App was not used)

A 36% reduction in carbon dioxide equivalent (CO2e) emissions from the cultivation of rice

Manao provided a detailed project timeline with clear deliverables.  They achieved all of the target deliverables on time.  

Communication was clear and customer-friendly, using our preferred communication method (Line App) plus formal email updates.

The project was new and innovative, so we had no prior experinece in use of a mobile App for this type of work, so there were learnings from our side that needed Manao to be responsive and understanding.  They responded to our changing needs effecticvely with no impact on the timelines.

Manao initially provided a clickable wire frame model to show the user-interface design and proposed way of operation.  This was extrememly valuable to us as we had limited experience of App development.  We could try the model ourselves, show it to farmers and our customer, and get feedback and design and ease of use before the real development started.

Their team showed genuine, enthusiastic interest in the project itself.  This resulted in Manao briging their own suggestion to how the App and Admin system should function.  The result was a better product than we had originally specified.  Their communication style in both English and Thai was both clear, friendly and supportive.

Are there any areas for improvement or something Manao Software could have done differently?

While we were delighted with their service, there was just one thing we would have appreciated. 

As a non-IT savvy customer, we would have appreciated more information on the implications of some of the system design choices made to enable the project to fit the limited budget.  There are some system limitations as to how we can edit and amend data, and while these were inevitable factors due to the architecture choices made to fit our budget, we may have decided to increase the budget at the time to add additional capability.

The assignment was to complete the final enhancements to our application and to enhance the customer journey. Our application needs to build trust and credibility with its users quickly and efficiently.

As the application monitors driving behaviour of the user we created three distinct stages:

• Anonymous users up to a certain number of trips 
• authenticated users after a fixed number of trips - non-paying
• authenticated users on a paying basis

Ensuring that customer data is seamlessly transferred between the progression of a customer through its journey. In addition, embedded videos and help diagrams were incorporated to assist with user knowledge of the application with all of the required monitoring tools to support.

The team were fantastic in their attitude, their ability to communicate openly and consistently and were able to meet all agreed timelines - delivering ahead of schedule on a number of elements as well. The PM was always on hand and actively followed up with live issues to resolution.

On our work with them on this assignment there was nothing more I would have asked to be done differently.

My company is Joes & Cos. We’re based in Denmark and specialize in all things related to working remotely. We have a platform that connects people to co-working spaces, hotels, and meeting rooms.

Since we don’t have an internal technical team to code and develop our app, we’ve engaged Manao Software as our technical department.

What was the scope of their involvement?

I initially met with Manao Software’s CEO to discuss my needs. He gave me his feedback, and I’ve since been able to hire people from them on a contract basis. 

Currently, Manao Software develops the software we're planning to launch and interacts with our users and vendors. They’re also maintaining our platform. We’ve done various projects with them — they usually scope out the project, I approve it, and then they start working.  

For technologies, the team codes in Visual Studio and uses React Native, Firebase, Flamelink, and JavaScript. They’re interacting with App Store and Google Play, so they know the right frameworks to use for them.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with various teammates from Manao Software, including a project manager, an architect, a web developer, a mobile developer, a graphic designer, and a QA specialist.

Manao Software was recommended to me by someone I’d had an event with; that person connected me to the team. 

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent around $120,000. 

What is the status of this engagement?

I found them in June 2021, and the engagement is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

I’ve completed multiple projects with Manao Software, and I haven’t had any issues. The platform is working and live. Put another way, the team has delivered a product from scratch, which we can use and sell. 

How did Manao Software perform from a project management standpoint?

Manao Software’s process is seamless, and the team is patient — the company runs professionally. If we find bugs, they fix them and have a good level of communication about them. Their members are easy to work with and detail-oriented. They listen to my feedback and make changes accordingly. On top of that, the projects are delivered within our budget. 

Overall, I’m satisfied with how they manage everything and deliver projects. To communicate, we use Slack and email; for video conferencing, we use Google Meet. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team is organized and flexible with time. Apart from that, they’re responsive. The project manager has done a great job of making me feel acknowledged. They easily understand issues when they arise.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There have been some delays in our development projects. Given that, they could improve their timelines, though they’ve done well on everything else. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Understand what you need and come prepared to guide Manao Software. While they can do a lot, you can’t expect them to handle 100% of the work. You should be organized and respond to them quickly. If they ask for something and you can’t deliver it within weeks, your delay will become the project's delay. Simply put, ensure you can handle the work and know what you want.

The project was delivered under budget and ahead of schedule—an outcome that not only met but exceeded expectations. As a result, Child’s Dream requested to continue working with the same team on a second initiative. And a third one will be starting soon.
