What challenge were you trying to address with Mallow Technologies?
We were building a first version of our dashboard. We had a feature-set which we needed to meet in order to onboard customers.

What was the scope of their involvement?
Mallow Technologies developed our software using Ruby on Rails and AngularJS. The backend architecture involved multiple event-processing technologies. We receive raw event data from hardware, and have processed over 85 million events through our system so far.
How did you come to work with Mallow Technologies?
I don't remember how I initially found Mallow Technologies, but I'd worked with them on past projects, and found that they were the most appropriate team for our work. Mallow Technologies had a strong skillset in the area which concerned us.
How much have you invested with Mallow Technologies?
The total cost of our project with Mallow Technologies has been between $50,000 and $100,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Portions of our work have been completed, but our collaboration with Mallow Technologies is ongoing.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
The best feedback which I have for Mallow Technologies is that they're quite autonomous. Other development shops in India, and generally overseas, will have a more tentative behavior, which pushes back timelines. Mallow Technologies makes good decisions, and they make them on their own, when it's necessary. This has been a huge advantage in helping us push the project forward.
How did Mallow Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Mallow Technologies has provided regular updates, requirements documentation, and when needed, they got on a call with us in order to ensure that the project remained on-track. Mallow Technologies is especially diligent in terms of resourcing. I can come to them with an aggressive deadline, and Mallow Technologies will figure it out, determining if it can or cannot be resolved. All the deadlines provided by Mallow Technologies have been accurate.

The work is high-quality, but I especially appreciated Mallow Technologies' autonomy.

We are Reef App Development. We bring in anybody that needs application or website development or anything software related. We contract our work out to other companies.

I am the CEO and founder.

What business challenge were you trying to address with Mallow Technologies?
We've done contract work with Mallow Technologies, so we've done different applications with them. TimeLedger was a time and expense-tracking application that we created their mobile app for. We also have a dating app, BeLinked, for more professional people. Severus Holdings is the product that we developed for them that was for payday lending. They lend out money for 36 per APR [annual percentage rate].

They've provided design work, wireframes, back-end development, iOS and Android development, and web apps.
How did you come to work with Mallow Technologies?
We met on Elance, which is now Upwork. I've been doing this for years, so I was vetting through different companies, and I came across them. The CTO and CEO are brothers. Initially, it was them and three other people. They were very small. They did great work for us. We continued going with them because they've been very consistent. The quality of work was great. Now, they've told me they have 57 developers. I highly recommend them. If there is an issue, they make sure to fix it.
Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?
Their rate is $25 to $30 an hour. It can fluctuate from 200 man-hours to 500 man-hours. One of the bigger projects we've done is closer to 1,000 man-hours, and the total is $50,000 to $200,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
I've been working with them six years. It's ongoing work.

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?
BeLinked was the startup phase we did. If you look on their app, the last time they uploaded an update for their app was about a few months after we stopped working with them. That was back in 2014. We did good work with them. We've done good work with Severus Holdings and TimeLedger who are still clients of ours.
How did Mallow Technologies perform from a project management standpoint?
Mallow Technologies did great. They introduced a new tool we had never used before, which is Asana. It made everything more efficient. It was a great experience.
What distinguishes Mallow Technologies from other providers?
It would be their bandwidth and being able to handle things on an emergency basis. They're very good with that.
Is there anything Mallow Technologies could have improved or done differently?
They're doing a great job. I'm still working with them.

We needed to expand our development team with a long term partner.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?
We reviewed several different teams in different locations. We chose to work with Mallow because of their focus, culture, and quality of their team.

This is a long term project and we've worked on many things over this period. Our core platform is Ruby on Rails, but Mallow has also helped us with mobile app development, UI and design, and more.

Our core team is currently a project manager, two developers, and a front end designer/developer.
