We don’t have an IT team, so we hired them as a third-party IT consultant for our day-to-day operations.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’re our managed service provider. The main scope of their work has involved WiFi and firewall setups for our new location. They set up these products to ensure our sales team can do business with our high net worth customers in a secure manner. We’ve also counted on them to network locations to ensure our residents have the ability to connect to WiFi seamlessly wherever they are in the building. 

Sometimes, they also provide technical support for software, hardware, computer setups, and installations on an as-needed basis.

I work primarily with Jacob (Owner) and two other resources that assist us with day-to-day tech support. Jacob coordinates bigger projects.

They were recommended to our former division president. We reached out to them after we experienced some IT trouble and WiFi failures on our end.

Our monthly invoices range from $800–$1,600. We’ve also engaged them for two network setup projects, which cost $10,000–$20,000 each.

We’ve been working with them since about January 2016.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Whenever we have a need from our back-of-house office, we can always get ahold of their support team immediately. Even for non-urgent matters, they typically email us back within an hour. We’re never troubled by our IT needs during the workday. They’re a very productive team.  

How did M6iT perform from a project management standpoint?

Our project involving making WiFI available to tenants was urgent, and they were able to meet us with a very quick turnaround time. Residents experienced less than a week of downtime in total. Jacob had his team on the problem almost immediately after we signed the proposal, which was a relief. We communicated through a ticketing system and email. When tickets are closed, they always reach out to let us know if there are outstanding issues. Their system is flawless.

Their honesty was important. It was clear that they wanted what was best for our company throughout the project.

Their response time is great, and I can’t think of anything they could improve upon.

I’m the founder of cmplte.com. We provide small businesses in New York City with a business phone service. We also provide business-owned systems as a voiceover IP service provider. We aim to give businesses reliable, hands-on support.

M6iT has been a partner of ourselves, helping with our growth. We’ve steadily added employees to our team, becoming a full-enterprise. They’ve been a core partner in that growth.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We’ve worked with them on a couple of projects. The first would be moving from G-Suite over to Office365 for email communication. We also had to move our Slack communications over to Teams. We were able to leverage their skills in-house in Office365 to develop our VoIP integration, which is now one of our products.

Once we migrated into Office365, we created different OneDrive systems for all of our files. Once COVID-19 hit, we were able to migrate into Azure to assist with our employees working remotely. They continue providing us with support to manage and deploy Microsoft services.

Our engagement comes down to a lot of their team scoping out the work and then coming to us with a deliverable that’s ready to go.

We’ve worked with three to four different people on the technical side, but we’ve almost worked exclusively with Jacob (President) on the project management side.

I’ve been working with them for several years now. My original conversations with them were not about doing work, but forming a partnership to allow us to work together.

What is the status of this engagement?

For this project, we started working with them in early February 2020, and then it began wrapping up at the end of March 2020. Because of updates and support, I’d consider it an ongoing engagement.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

A lot of our services wouldn’t be possible without their expertise. Being able to come in and see that everything was working was a big plus while working with them. When we have a challenge or need something done, those conversations with them are worth every penny.

At the end of the day, I’ve worked with a lot of different companies. M6iT wants to see businesses grow. They work in a way that reminds me of our in-house culture, which is completely hands-on and proactive. Over time, they’ve referred us, and we’ve referred them.

How did M6iT perform from a project management standpoint?

For us, it was great. We were pretty much ahead of schedule on everything. Even when I threw them a curveball to change the work scope, they were still able to deliver everything quickly. The team exceeded everything I hoped for.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team at M6iT is big enough to get a complex project done. We had a lot of different documents, which was quite overloaded for us. Despite that, their side was able to get everything done correctly. That distinguishes them from others in the market. Businesses have to be large enough to handle any kind of project but still, have to be small enough to care.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I wish we could talk a little bit more about what else we can do, but I think that’s a result of how busy they’ve been. But in the future, I’d like to have that continued conversation with them. Some attention to that would be good.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be open and transparent. A natural tendency that I see with my customers is hesitation. Don’t be unsure when working with them. If you’re not clear, somethings might come up. It will create a better scope of work and fewer surprises. Even though I love working with them, I did have a few reservations, ending up biting us. Be open about everything you think is relevant.

M6iT helped me with all of my cybersecurity initiatives. They told me what to download and what kind of security software I needed. Their team helped me learn how to identify phishing and hacking as well as what to do once I’ve been phished. They consulted me on using the cloud and backing up all of my essentials on there. Other services included IT, software, and data compartmentalization.

They didn’t play around, they got straight to the point. After being hacked like that and considering all the money that was involved, I was in a state of shock. They helped me fix it and move on. The owner was brilliant in handling my situation.

They've helped make IT easy to deal with. For instance, they synced my work across my laptop, home computer, phone, and my assistant’s work computer. Their work setting up my systems took the most time, which was handled completely on-site. They correct issues on an ongoing basis remotely. Through a Microsoft Office 365 migration, they set up Outlook and other Microsoft products across all of my computers.

I've liked working with them so much in an office setting that I later hired them to handle the IT setup in my personal apartment. They take the time to explain technical issues to me in layman’s terms. I feel taken care of and supported.

We decided to set up a virtual server, so all our different Broadway shows across the nation could have access to one server. The goal was to keep all our files together, so companies didn’t have to send files back and forth. M6iT helped us set that server up.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

Every single company we work with needs to have access to working tech at all times in order for the shows to function properly. Any time there’s any hiccups in the tech, M6iT is there to fix it, often fixing the problem within hours. To be able to expect service like that from them and get it is awesome. 

How did M6iT perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve performed really well. M6iT is extremely transparent. I have a very personal relationship with Jacob, so I know I can always reach out to him if I have an issue, and he’ll divert it to the right people.

Even if I don’t go through Jacob, everyone on his team is incredibly friendly and helpful. Everything with M6iT has been incredibly easy. 

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’m most impressed by their response time. Anytime I can’t log onto a VPN, I can reach out to them and they’ll respond immediately and have it back on and running within that same day. That service has been really valuable to me.

Are there any areas they could improve?

Their billing service could have room for improvement. Sometimes the bills that come in can be a bit confusing, but it’s not the end of the world, and sometimes the fault might lie with me.

A former employee of ours was introduced to them and invited them to give us a pitch. That employee knew that we needed a new upgrade since we were growing so much. We love Jacob’s pitch, and it’s been smooth sailing ever since.

The biggest goal we have is to minimize the amount of downtime we have. M6iT ensured a seamless switchover from our old tech infrastructure. They worked together with our old IT company and smoothed over that potentially awkward transition. I’ve been amazed by their professionalism and attention to detail. They have a clear commitment to client happiness, which is really valuable.

They’ve excelled at meeting deadlines. Whenever I put in a ticket request, they usually answer in 30 minutes. Their resolution turnaround is almost always instant.

I’d highlight their professionalism and commitment to client retention.

There are rare occasions when I have an important issue that needs to be addressed ASAP, and I’ll call someone, but there might not be a teammate readily available. I don’t fault them for this, though, because we’re not the only company they’re dealing with. I can’t think of anything else, because they really are an excellent company and they usually get back to me immediately.

Trust what they say to do. Give them the correct information and listen to their recommendations. It’ll ensure a seamless process (and minimal downtime) if nothing gets in their way.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They’ve helped us with two office moves. M6iT was very involved in disconnecting everything from the previous office and setting up everything in the new office — both in terms of physically plugging things in and evaluating systems. Their team assisted us in analyzing which systems were serving us well and we should continue using as well as which systems we’d outgrown or could find a better deal for.

They were involved in every step of the process to maintain continuity and help us evaluate hardware and software upgrades. They also migrated us to cloud servers and provided an added layer of security.

I’ve also worked extensively with another individual who’s a technician. There have been other people here and there, but we interact with them less frequently. Jacob was recommended to my boss by one of his colleagues. I don’t know the exact details but it essentially came down to my boss trusting his instincts and feeling comfortable with Jacob. It was important to him to find an IT consultant he could come to with basic questions and receive help and care without a condescending tone. We contact M6iT fairly frequently because we’ve undergone a lot of expansion in the last couple of years. There is a constant conversation about new projects and how we utilize our current systems to execute them. We discuss if we need to expand, get more machines, and how to onboard new hires. We can call Jacob and his team with basically anything, and they’ll help us figure it out.

How did M6iT perform from a project management standpoint?

Their biggest strength is that they’ve gotten to know our company well. We’re not a particularly tech-heavy company so it helps that Jacob knows us and our goals so we can come to him with layman’s terms and he’s able to translate it well. Every time I pick up the phone, I don’t have to explain it from square one.

They’re very reachable via text, phone, email, and cell. Jacob has made it clear that we can call or text his cell if there’s an emergency. I appreciate that they’re responsive and easy to get ahold of. Meeting deadlines has never been a problem.

It’s their level of individual service and personalization to our company. It doesn’t feel like they have a mold they’re trying to force us into. In fact, it’s clear they’re working with what’s best for our company, office, and individual employees.

There have been several times when we’ve asked for a recommendation and Jacob shares what he thinks would be best for us individually — not what the majority of people are doing. He puts the time and energy to recommend what’s best for us specifically.

There have been occasional moments when it has felt as if they’re trying to upsell us a little bit. In those cases, their team has always been receptive to us expressing we don’t want to buy a new computer or system. The advantage of having as long of a partnership as we’ve had is that we’re comfortable to say no, and they listen.

Take the time up front to make sure they understand your business because they thrive with small businesses. The thing that has been most beneficial to us is taking time to educate them on what we do beyond IT because it pays off when we’re in the middle of a big project or deadline and something crashes; you don’t want to have to explain what you’re doing from ground one. It really helps to have that common language with them.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They provide IT services for the networks belonging to the back-of-house. I don’t have much knowledge of the IT world to explain the specifics, but they established a secure network for our computers back-of-house. We have various vendors who are onsite, and they’re required to have their own specific gateway to access the Internet and other services.

They also provide us with customer service and troubleshooting. They’ve repaired or given us new hardware when needed. They spend hours with us on the phone with network providers to try and resolve our issues.

They provide us with more work, but that’s all that comes to mind right now.

I’ve met with 5-6 teammates. I may have talked to others over the phone. Jacob (Owner) has been our main point of contact.

At the time, we were working with an old onsite IT team that wasn’t meeting our needs. We needed a vendor who had experience in separating networks. M6iT was recommended to us and came out on top after we did a little research. They were the most qualified out of all the other vendors we were vetting for the project.
