What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We have a partnership with an organization that requires about 80% test coverage of our work, and Lunar Logic has exceeded that level of test coverage across our code base. This helps us hold high standards without explicitly asking them to do so, making us feel satisfied with the impact of their work on our business.

How did Lunar Logic perform from a project management standpoint?

Lunar Logic is very flexible in the tools and methods we want to use. We’re using Jira and Trello and follow Agile methodology, so we’re based on two-week sprints productivity.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We sense ownership from Lunar Logic’s team over our projects, which is helpful because they feel personally responsible for the work. They adapt and help in multiple aspects, like last-minute changes, putting together a team in urgent situations, and overall finding ways to support us in reaching our goals.

Moreover, we like that they lead collaborative work between design, product, and engineering teams because they complement our product design and engineering skill set, making the relationship strong, agile, and positive. Their focus is also on how to make the biggest impact through our real business value.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could try adapting their processes to non-tech-savvy clients so they could benefit from working with them.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend going with Lunar Logic only if you’re not trying to do low-quality, quick engineering work. Lunar Logic’s team really tries to put a lot of effort into the quality of their coding and overall deliverables.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were very happy with the work Lunar Logic delivered. It was easy to measure success during this project because we had a list of bugs and problems from users that we wanted to be fixed. Once they were fixed and users weren’t reporting any bugs, the project was over. Lunar Logic successfully reached the goal of fixing everything that wasn’t working before.

How did Lunar Logic perform from a project management standpoint?

They were responsive, and we communicated via email. Since this project was more significant than the others, we also had weekly update calls, which worked really nicely. During the calls, we'd bring up the issues we faced, and they'd take care of them.

We didn’t work with a fixed budget. We wanted to know once they dedicated a certain number of hours to the project. When they reached the time benchmark, they immediately sent us a notification, so I could give them more time. I had complete control over the budget and work.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Based on all the projects we've done with Lunar Logic, I've been most impressed with how quickly they've handled new use cases. Additionally, the team is very nice and knowledgeable; they have the skills to help us with anything we need.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I can't think of any improvements.

I recommend planning your project and creating a comprehensive brief; Lunar Logic will deliver great work.

What challenge were you trying to address with Lunar Logic?

We needed an external team to help us complete a development project since we didn’t have the required team in-house.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We worked with Lunar Logic on web and mobile development projects for eight years. Although, the most recent project lasted only a month. 

When we started working with Lunar Logic, they joined during the project’s discovery phase and helped us determine the estimated timeline and scope. From there, Lunar Logic selected the appropriate development tools. Throughout our relationship, they used Ruby, JavaScript, Ruby on Rails, React.js, and Shopify and developed native iOS and Android apps.

Moreover, Lunar Logic also helped us with QA, testing, and design projects. For design, they mostly created user stories and used Figma.

I worked with around 20 teammates from Lunar Logic, including their CEO. However, I mainly worked with developers.

Although I don’t have the total budget spent during our engagement, on the last project we worked on with Lunar Logic, we spent around $10,000.

On the last project we engaged with Lunar Logic, we worked from February–March 2023.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We met Lunar Logic eight years ago and continued to work with them — we clearly liked their work. Lunar Logic was the best development partner we had — they were an integral part of our team. Their design and development technical skills were excellent. 

How did Lunar Logic perform from a project management standpoint?

Lunar Logic was agile when working. We had daily Zoom calls and communicated through Slack. We also used Jira and Notion for project management.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I was most impressed by Lunar Logic’s flexibility. We could change the setup of our development team as needed.  Most of the products we developed were new, so it was common to change the project’s direction. Lunar Logic was flexible in adjusting to our needs and always found common ground to work together. 

We built a trusting relationship with Lunar Logic that felt like a partnership. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything for Lunar Logic to improve. 

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend trusting Lunar Logic because they’re experts in their field. Give them the autonomy and freedom to fulfill your requirements. You have to be clear about the expected outcomes, and Lunar Logic will figure out how to deliver what you expect — they’re really good developers.

What challenges were you trying to address with Lunar Logic?

We wanted to develop a prototype of our product to show it to potential investors and customers, but we were on a tight budget.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Lunar Logic helped us develop a web app. We started by having an initial call to discuss the possibilities of what we could expect and achieve by working with them — they were very transparent from the beginning. Consequently, we met with their designers to show them our mock-ups so they could see what we were aiming for. After that, we had a back-and-forth process to agree on a final deliverable based on the information we gave them.

In terms of functionalities, the app has an AWS backend with an interface to log in and an admin panel. The system also has map integration because we display data based on geo locations.

We found them online and chose them because they really understood our position, seemed excited about the project, and were flexible with our payment capabilities.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We were delighted with Lunar Logic’s work, which they achieved with our limited funds. Our team was also surprised with how forthcoming they were in helping us solve issues outside the project’s scope. We were also amazed by the quality of the app’s functionalities because they achieved everything we asked for — the platform was running in a way that we could show it to investors that could potentially participate in our business.

How did Lunar Logic perform from a project management standpoint?

They stayed within budget and delivered within deadlines — sometimes earlier. Moreover, they were communicative and responsive, using Zoom and email to keep track of the process.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Lunar Logic took the time to understand us, our goals, and our audience, which is what we were looking for. Their team also committed to scoping out the project efficiently to deliver the best results based on our limited budget. Moreover, they were proactive by always asking what they could to keep improving the process.

I didn’t think there was anything they could improve on; we were happy with the results and plan to continue working with them.

Get on a call with them and explain what you’re looking for so they can suggest a solution for the challenge you’re trying to address.

What challenge were you trying to address with Lunar Logic?

We were looking for a partner to help us with our custom integration needs. Particularly, we wanted an agile product development company; we needed them to be self-organized and good at collaboration and communication.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Lunar Logic has helped develop, design, maintain, and run the integrations. We’ve given them 3–4 integrations over a year and a half, and they’ve built them in collaboration with us.

Initially, we only had the documentation on how to implement it from external partners. We couldn’t sit down and write the specifications, so they had to figure out the problem areas along with us. We gave them a challenge by telling them what we needed to do. Still, Lunar Logic solved all the details and understood our business needs, what was needed from the integrations, and how the external and internal APIs worked.

They’ve built everything from scratch, and the team hosts and maintains it on their platform. Lunar Logic uses Ruby on Rails and some data tools, and it’s all cloud-hosted. Additionally, they’ve designed an integration that’s like a glue between our API and an external API.

How did you come to work with Lunar Logic?

We found them through a reference. One of my colleagues worked with their CEO previously and had a good experience with them. We looked at different partners, but we felt that Lunar Logic was the right service provider for us. They had good communication and were self-organized.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started the project in March 2021; it has scaled down a bit, but the work is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We’ve increased the number of deliveries we can handle through this integration. The service-level agreement was high, so we didn’t have any issues. For the KPIs, we’ve had a couple of integrations, and Lunar Logic has built them all. We’re happy with the results; it’s been a successful collaboration.

How did Lunar Logic perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re great at organizing, so it’s easy to work and collaborate with them. We have full transparency on how the project’s going.

We use Trello for some discussions, and they use it to organize the work on their side.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re product-oriented, and the team maintains everything they build. Overall, working with them is easy because we don’t need to micromanage anything. We just give them directions and boundaries, and they work within them.

What challenges were you trying to address with Lunar Logic?

We wanted to create an app that could allow people to reuse paper bags with advertising in exchange for rewards.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Lunar Logic did mobile app development for us using Kotlin. They took over and stabilized the code of our existing Android platform to make it functional. Consequently, they added extra features to the app and redesigned the entirety of it to fit our recent rebranding. To jumpstart the process, we provided them with a designer to work alongside them and apply our brand guidelines to the screens and build.

We worked with 3–4 members of their team, including Luna (CEO) and a couple of developers.

How did you come to work with Lunar Logic?

Someone from our team referred them to us. After initial meetings with them, they seemed communicative and a good fit for us.

How much have you invested in them?

We spent around £35,000 (approximately $49,300 USD) with them.

We worked together from August–October 2022.

Our team was delighted with their work because they managed a seamless and easy-to-work-with process. In addition, they were good people who helped us solve many headaches and led an open and honest approach.

We went over the budget, but that was more on our side because we didn’t scope things fully. In addition, they were responsive to feedback and communicated with us via Slack, daily and weekly calls, and email.

Their most outstanding attributes were their flexibility and willingness to work with us while delivering on their promises because they made us feel in safe hands.

I didn’t think there was anything they could improve on because everything was perfect.

I'm a product manager of a company that supports the user in doing online comparisons for different financial needs in Switzerland. The product I am responsible for, is the comparison and application of mortgages. As the mortgage market is huge and complex, we help the users to do the right decision and to find the perfect mortgage partner for them.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Lunar Logic, and what were your goals?

As we bought an existing mortgage comparison company in 2019, we wanted to build a new frontend that was working with the already existing backend. After this was successfully achieved we had as a goal to optimize the conversion of the funnels, reducing the complexity of the systems and the working time that our internal mortgage advisors needed per Lead with introducing a new CRM.

SOLUTION

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

Lunar Logic was already working with the company that was bought three years ago. As we were very satisfied with their work we were happy to keep on working with them.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

As we worked together for over 3 years, our collaboration was much more then a project. We worked together as if we worked at the same company. For delivery the Scrum framework was used, where the progress towards the goals was regularly checked and where adjustments could be done quickly if needed. We set up A/B Tests on our react pages, optimized user journeys, implemented email automation and optimized workflows for our partners and advisors. This was done first in the self built CRM in Ruby on Rails as well well as later on in SalesForce.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

In the past 3 years we worked together with an average of 2 backend developers, 3 Frontend developers, as well as 2 Quality Assurance where one of them was also leading the team and did the whole coordination between the two companies.

We had daily stand ups with the whole team, weekly backlog refinements, and bi weekly planning sessions. Those meetings were very focused and constructive. Despite that, we communicated over Slack and Jira, where the responses always came quickly.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

The team of lunar logic we worked with was very involved. I could fully rely on and trust them. They believed in what they were working on, were motivated and passionate, and had great communication skills. So also for a non Tech person, it was easy to follow along.

Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the Chief product officer for hubert, a startup company in the recruitment industry. We perform automated recruitment interviews using chatbot technologies, analyzing candidate interview answers, and rank/shortlisting candidates based on their interview.

In doing so, we save 90% of recruiters' time - but we also create a fair screening process for candidates.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

For what projects/services did your company hire Lunar Logic?

Our screening service currently is focused on our clients, e.g. by giving results to recruiters, but no feedback to the candidates. To give feedback to candidates, and to help them re-use previous interview answers, we wanted to create an app directed at candidates.

SOLUTION

How did you select LunarLogic and what were the deciding factors?

We got a recommendation from a friend in the tech industry, knowing our CEO.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

The project was initially set up as a request to design and develop the app. However, after some time we realized that it would be more cost efficient for us to only have LunarLogic do the design, leaving the development work our newly established extended team in another country.

Therefore, the work consisted of a initial two-day exploration phase on site in Cracow, and then design/wire frame work.

How many resources from the LunarLogic team worked with you, and what were their positions?

for the exploration phase, 4 people (designers + developers), but the main work was done by two designers.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

The wire frames for the app was the main deliverable from this project. This was used as the basis for the subsequent development of the app.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Good daily standups. And easy to talk to Lunarlogic over slack for additional/quick questions.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We liked the pay-as-you-go setup. In fact, we may not have dared to embark on this journey if we had had to set up a contract before, without knowing exactly where we would have ended.

Since circumstances changed (as they often do for a startup), we were happy that we could change the scope half way into the project. The team was nice and customer oriented. But they also shared their opinions and dared speak up if they did not agree.

The ability to voice concerns is really important for us, as we look for points of view in the setup/design process, not only people who can do the operational work later. Also, we were surprised at the good level of spoken English. This made it easy to communicate, although working remotely.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

They underestimated the time that wire frame development would actually take. Perhaps this is inevitable, but at least it would be good to give indications throughout the project with continuous updates on how more time would be required and if we are still on the timeline.

I’m the CCO of a technology pest control company. We build smart devices that help businesses, such as restaurants and warehouses, monitor for pests.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What challenge were you trying to address with Lunar Logic?

We had an internal software team, but our CTO was leaving the business. At the same time, we were acquired by a larger company, so we needed to scale. We engaged with Lunar Logic to finish some projects while we were recruiting a new CTO.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

They rebuilt our administration portal. We focused on UX/UI with their design and creative team in the first instance we worked on. Then they built out user stories and screens for the portal. After two months, they passed the project onto our internal team to build.

After that, they helped us move to a new IoT platform so we could expand our offerings on different devices. Their engineering teams migrated our system and integrate it with myDevices. Then they did some backend work and to allow us to send messages from devices to the new IoT platform.

What is the team composition?

We worked with one designer on the UX/UI project.

How did you come to work with Lunar Logic?

Our former CTO worked with Lunar Logic at a previous organization. They were very good, competent, and cost-effective, so we decided to engage with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent about €60,000 (approximately $70,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

The first engagement began in January 2019 and we worked with them on that project through the summer. We just finished working with them on the IoT platform project.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We were extremely impressed with their engineering team. When we lost our CTO, we didn’t feel any major repercussions because Lunar Logic was able to step up and take on a lot of that work.

The product worked very well, but it was, unfortunately, never commercialized. Ultimately, our parent company made a decision to change strategies and the product we built during our engagement with Lunar Logic was never launched.

How did Lunar Logic perform from a project management standpoint?

They joined Slack and so we could communicate with them daily. They were very much a part of our engineering team. They had a few team members fall ill during the COVID-19 pandemic, but they had enough resources to backfill those positions. As a result, they delivered ahead of schedule and we were able to work with them on other important tasks.

We used Gitlab to manage our work processes. We also had a meeting every Monday morning. It got to the point where I didn’t have to interact with them all week, but then I helped out on Monday by answering questions.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

They were very good at dealing with ambiguity. We started the project with one idea in mind, but our business was changing quickly, and as we asked them to move things around, our scope wasn’t well-defined. They helped us work through what we needed and changed the project roadmap accordingly.

The team was very competent and easy to communicate with. In the past, I’ve had a difficult time working with third-party companies, so I was hesitant to work with them, but we discovered that this was a much better solution for our business.

Are there any areas they could improve?

There were two very strong members on the team, but there was a lot of turnover among the junior members. I think there were a lot of reasons for that between COVID-19 and building a growing team. However, we were very happy with the team leads. They made sure we were always happy.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

We went in with a loosely defined project, and they were fine working with that, but at one point they began looking at what they were going to be working on the following week and I wasn’t able to guide them. I suppose it can help if you have a clear idea of what you want before you begin the engagement. That will help them execute in the way you want.

I’m the CEO and have been for the last eight years now. The focus of our company is on the leisure industry.

What challenge were you trying to address with Lunar Logic?

We have several services from escape rooms to designing game concepts for B2B and B2C customers. We also have a little software development department in our company for in-house software that we use in our locations for the escape rooms or for city adventures. The software then runs on iPads to run scavenger hunts and these kinds of businesses. We’ve worked with Lunar Logic on those products.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

For all the projects we’ve worked with them on so far, Lunar Logic did frontend and backend tasks. One project was an online escape game to transfer a paper book with quizzes to an online game. The second project is for software to control escape rooms like a game master software, and the other software was for the iPad app for the scavenger hunt.

For all the projects, they worked on the design concept like the UI studies. Lunar Logic helped us with the UX but also in developing the front- and backend.

What is the team composition?

We work with a team of developers and UI/UX designers.

How did you come to work with Lunar Logic?

Lunar Logic contacted me because I had a job posting up. We were looking to hire developers, but they offered us a service as a remote outsourcing agency. We had some work in addition to what we were initially looking for. I went to meet them in Krakow, and we discussed the projects we could work together on.

How much have you invested in them?

So far, we've spent roughly €25,000 (approximately $30,000 USD), but the project hasn’t ended yet and it will be more than €30,000 (approximately $36,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We have worked with Lunar Logic for roughly a year. Our ongoing engagement started in March 2020.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The quality is perfect. They are smart people and give good advice on what we can do differently. What I really appreciate is how much and how quickly they understood our business. Lunar Logic really tries to understand what the product is actually for. They try to help by being fast in developing but also thinking about what makes sense for the end-user which is something that I really like about working with them.

How did Lunar Logic perform from a project management standpoint?

So far it has been perfect. They work in an agile way, so they don’t really have a project manager. We talk about the milestones and basically agree on deadlines. It isn’t about making it on the deadline every time and is more about the communication and that is definitely a five. No company can be on time always, but they are very aware of the deadline.

Usually, when we’re in a sprint, we have weekly calls to discuss any obstacles, progress, and next steps. It is always prepared so we get a little agenda the day before. This allows us to comment on the topics that we are about to discuss. Even the calls, even if only once a week, are usually not longer than half an hour. From time to time, if there are specific questions, we’ll have another call to discuss them in detail.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Lunar Logic really tries to understand what exactly our business is and why they are developing the software product. This is something I haven’t experienced before. When I worked with other agencies, they basically developed what we were asking for, which is good but it’s not always a perfect result in the end. It’s always better if they try to be part of the team, and think about the final product, even challenging us and our business ideas. That’s definitely different from what I’ve experienced so far.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, not right now. I haven’t seen anything yet that I can mention.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

It was really helpful for us to meet at the beginning which was possible because Berlin and Krakow aren’t that far from each other. Our visit helped us to get to know each other and get started. It was a fun two days of meetings and really intense workshops to introduce ourselves, not only the companies but also the products.

That helped us to have a good setup from the beginning. If there’s any chance to start working with Lunar Logic, I’d advise asking them to have a discovery workshop like we did as it was definitely a good choice.
