How did you select this firm and what were the deciding factors?

We have been working with Lotus for a while and we have previously asked to help us with similar projects. All of the project was successful with high quality annotations.

We asked them to annotate images, on our web tool. They were accommodating to our needs, scheduling and guideline.

There was one person direct contract for project and one person as account manager

There were questions asked when needed and initial QA was done, so the project ended up to be a success.

We had a slack channel going on and there were communications when neccessary. WAs very happy

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

We're most impressed by the speed of their quotations, which were made when the project actually starts. it is vary fast and we are very happy about that

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

Generally all request were met and quality was high. There were times when there were miscommunications but the mistakes were remedied quickly so we are happy with the outcome. Also, As we are able to make our own guideline, it is fine but if there is a company who needs to start from making the guideline, it maybe best to work with a company that can help you create a solid annotation guideline

I’m the CTO of an educational technology (EdTech) company called Advantages Digital Learning Solutions.

What challenge were you trying to address with Lotus Quality Assurance?

We needed to upgrade our technology. We had an internal development team, but we needed someone to come in and review our architecture. We also needed to migrate our system hosting to AWS and perform load testing to measure our performance.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement? 

Lotus Quality Assurance has done code reviews and provided recommendations based on their findings. Our system has performance bottlenecks, so I’ve asked them to check out our code and find areas for improvement. They have a development team of their own that could’ve done the changes directly to our data. However, we use our in-house team for that.

Lotus Quality Assurance has also assisted with our deployment on AWS. They've done performance reviews and installed a load management architecture for us.

We’ve worked with 2–3 people from Lotus Quality Assurance involved in the project.

How did you come to work with Lotus Quality Assurance?

I was looking for referrals through my network, and I interviewed about 10 different companies. Lotus Quality Assurance did our interview process, even though they were highly recommended, and we chose them.

How much have you invested with them?

Our budget limit is around $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in May 2019, and the collaboration is ongoing.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Lotus Quality Assurance’s involvement has made a drastic difference for our system. We used to accommodate about 100 concurrent users and now, we can accommodate about 20,000 concurrent users. 

How did Lotus Quality Assurance perform from a project management standpoint?

We don’t use any specific project management tools, but we regularly use Skype to communicate. 

Lotus Quality Assurance has been very professional and effective. Everything is spelled out upfront. Communication during the proposal process has carried out very nicely and they kick off the work and execute it according to the project’s plan.  

What did you find most impressive about them?

Lotus Quality Assurance has a business development person that’s currently on the project making sure everything gets done correctly and on time. There’s always someone available for us. 

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything at the moment Lotus Quality Assurance could improve. They’re great people that provide superior service. 

Any advice for potential customers?

Lotus Quality Assurance seems to be able to adapt to any level of professionalism and readiness. For hiring any technology service provider, a client needs to have an established budget. They provide great value, but readiness is the key regarding budget and staffing.
