What challenge were you trying to address with Life Web & Design?

We had an outdated website and none of us had the technical skills to refresh our site.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We wanted them to complete something that would be very easy to use for our clients. On top of that, a lot of our clients struggled with English so we wanted it to be as accessible as possible. Within three days of reaching out to Life Web & Design, they were able to design something for us.

The team integrated a photo gallery where we could send photos of the couples who we helped to get married. After developing our website, they continue to provide hosting services and implement changes or updates when needed.

What is the team composition?

Alex (Web Designer) is our main point of contact, and he answers all our questions. I think there are two other people helping him in the background.

How did you come to work with Life Web & Design?

I looked around and it was a little bit challenging because some people wouldn’t deal with small businesses like us. When I found Life Web & Design, I saw that they had good reviews. On top of that, they got back to me right away when I reached out to them.

They were also enthusiastic and explained to me that they wanted to be accessible for everything we needed — whether our issues were big or small. In the end, we chose to work with them because they were the only company we saw that was really willing to work with us.

How much have you invested with them?

We spend $299 CAD a year ( approximately $240 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

Our engagement ran from September 2018, and we’re still working together. We were able to launch the site again in October 2018.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement? 

We’ve been thrilled with our website’s design, and our users have been pleased with the photos and easy navigation on our website. They successfully set up our email on our website, which makes it very easy for people to send their questions to us. We've also experienced an increase in our site traffic thanks to their work. Furthermore, Alex has been helpful to us — answering all of our IT questions, even questions that are not part of our project’s scope.

How did Life Web & Design perform from a project management standpoint?

They have an excellent project management process — they check with us to make sure we’re good with everything. We’re very happy with their services and the direction where we’re headed. We mainly communicate through emails and phone calls to send our requests.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re open to working with different-sized businesses. They’re very congenial and approachable, too. In fact, I don’t feel intimidated even though I have limited technical skills. Overall, they're very easy to work with.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I haven’t really thought about what they should improve. Life Web & Design is terrific, and they’re very flexible.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Be clear about what your needs are and don't be afraid to start small and move up slowly. Some people start big, but then there’s a lot to manage when you do that while running your business.

I spent a few months searching online and telephone interview website designers. I considered the quality of their past projects and the quality of customer services, and if they have experience building a website for an immigration company.

We had a few meetings before starting the project to discuss my company's goals and objectives. After that, we set up four steps to complete the project: logo design, website structure design, content design and bilingual website design. Every step involved objective discussion, development and review & revision.

A project manager was our main point of contact throughout the process. Their graphic designing team designed the logo and website scheme for us.

After launching the website, I received a lot of positive feedback and attracted several reputable business partners.

It's not easy to find a business partner professionally. I feel comfortable asking website-related questions and know I will get a response within a very reasonable time.

There are many issues when developing the website, such as the submission forms, privacy, and language translations. They were able to respond to those issues and fixed them promptly.

While we did not track any metrics during the initial stages of the website launch, we have recently hired an SEO company. One of their findings confirmed that the website was originally built with good SEO foundation.

Alex, the owner of the company, was professional, responsive and prompt with any required changes. I was especially impressed with his level of creativity and suggested solutions for various challenges.

Alex respected the established timelines and always delivered on time. It was quite refreshing to see how proactive he was with creative ideas and share best practices when it comes to web design.

I appreciated Alex challenging a few of my requests as he always provided solid reasoning and explanation of why and how certain things should be designed.

The end result - a beautifully designed website - is as impressive as the unseen professionally set up backend mechanics of the site.

Nothing that we have encountered. We have since hired Life Web & Design for a number of subsequent projects.

We provide technical consultation for manufacturers of electrical products intended for use in hazardous locations. I’m the CEO and technical director of the company.

What challenge were you trying to address with Life Web & Design?

When we established the business, I was looking for a company that could make a professional website for our services. Life Web & Design helped us with everything we required in this regard.

SOLUTION

What was the scope of their involvement?

Life Web created a presentation website for our company’s technical services, and they designed our logo and other collateral. They laid out the design and handled everything else related to the site, including SEO and domain name registration. They’ve also developed two apps for us.

What is the team composition?

I worked solely with Alex (Lead Designer). I think he was the main person working behind the scenes, but he may have other people helping him.

How did you come to work with Life Web & Design?

I was looking on Google for a web development company in my area. I wanted the ability to go to their office and meet with them in person. Life Web was at the top of my search, and I called Alex. He was very professional in the introduction, and he provided me a good direction of how to handle the project.

He gave me an ample explanation about their services and how we could come up with the best solution. I had talks with two other companies at the same time, but Life Web had the best presentation and seemed the most professional. They seemed experienced in creating websites for technical consulting companies like mine. I met with Alex in person, and he gave me more detailed explanations of their various packages.

How much have you invested with them?

I believe the total cost so far is $3,000–$4,000, including the website and app development.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with Life Web in early December 2019, and the website was launched in January 2020.

I’ve gone to them for a couple of upgrades and small changes since then. We have a maintenance contract with them, which allows us to make minor changes to the site. We work with Life Web at least once every two months.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Alex gave me a few options for increasing our ranking in Google searches, and he helped me find a way to do that. Clients that have seen the site found it very interesting and engaging. The site has been live for 8–9 months, and it’s currently the top-ranking website in our field on Google.

How did Life Web & Design perform from a project management standpoint?

I’ve known Alex for 10 months, and we’ve gotten to be friends. I can text him whenever I have a new idea or need a quick response to an issue. He responds immediately. We communicate through email, text, and phone.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Alex isn’t just able to do a job. He cares about our business and feels his own success through our success. I feel comfortable talking and working with Alex. He’s now one of my good business friends.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only thing I’ve suggested to Alex is for him to open a LinkedIn page for Life Web and try to go from there. I think that the only thing missing on their part is advertisements for their services on professional platforms.

Compared this vendor between a list of 8 or so vendors. Variables were price, portfolio, experience working with healthcare websites, and personal impression during the interview.

I reached out to various companies that did a website for a property management company. that was the first requirement. I recieved a few proposals and reviewed it based on cost, portfolio and reviews

The process was pretty straight forward. At first I contact Alex for a proposal and some sample websites I liked. He designed the first draft and I provided some feedback. Another draft was made and then i provided some feedback. Finally I put the content in the website and it was complete.
