Position -- CTO. A company providing solutions for industrial facilities management and daily operation and maintenance.

For what projects/services did your company hire LANARS?

Their team reengineered our hardware devices and integrated them with a newly developed web management platform, provided full-cycle development of a physical device, and also created a handy mobile app.

How did you select this vendor and what were the deciding factors?

We met with LANARS representatives at a tech event, and had a couple of meetings. They impressed us with the level of involvement they provide, and an extensive portfolio of relevant cases that were successfully realized.

Describe the project in detail and walk through the stages of the project.

At first, we worked on an overall scope of what we were trying to achieve. We are offering a monitoring and tracking ecosystem for industrial factory floors and wanted to bring our solution to the home automation market as well. LANARS helped us with planning and setting priorities, proposed a concept for a new device based on our current solution (smaller, easier-to-use by a usual consumer) and implemented a web solution (front-end and back-end), a mobile application (Swift) and provided firmware development for a new device.

How many resources from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

We had a team of about 10 people — software developers for the web and mobile part and hardware and firmware developers for the device itself, also QA, designers and management staff, which we are extremely pleased with.

RESULTS & FEEDBACK

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We are planning to release in the first quarter of 2023, everything works even better than our old solution, and now we’re at the phase of EU certification.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

We had a lot of communication at the very beginning, their staff was actually integrated with our team. Later, they proposed weekly meetings, at the end of each scope we were presented with results and provided feedback. They invited us to their management system, where we were able to track the whole progress. Their project manager and business analyst were super responsive whenever we needed them for an update.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

Deep personal engagement with our project, the versatility of services, cost and quality ratio, and flexibility.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

We didn’t notice any major disadvantages.

We are a big data and IoT [internet of things company]. I was the senior director of network operations for the company.

What challenge were you trying to address with LANARS?

We needed to build a dashboard integration for different video sources. It would allow us to visualize the data coming in from different customers, making it easier to consume by our frontend engineers. LANARS helped us build our platform and backend integration.

SOLUTION

What challenge were you trying to address with LANARS?

LANARS built an admin panel which allows us to customize dashboards, as well as the engine feeding data from various monitoring sources. We aggregate data from many IoT end points, with the platform serving as a way to visualize that data.

The backend integration uses a proprietary platform owned by my company, while the frontend was built using open-source graphical libraries like Highcharts. The integration between the frontend and the backend required Node.js, while the admin panel used AngularJS, which is how we managed to display the different graphs from our backend customer data.

How did you come to work with LANARS?

We bid the project to many different companies. LANARS came back with a good plan during our initial phone calls. They were thorough and provided suggestions regarding technology.

How much have you invested with LANARS?

The project had 2–3 phases, and cost between $60,000 and $70,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with LANARS in June 2016. The project ran for 2–3 months, as we continued to add features.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

I'm no longer working for the company, so I don't have access to the platform that LANARS built. It was well-used and shared to many customers who were involved with our platform. It was a successful project.
