We were an odd client for KOTA from a project management perspective: our personnel and timelines continually shifted as our business delivery cycle sped up. As a result, we had to ask for deliverables faster than expected, and KOTA was always accomodating. They gave us the space we needed to ensure we could maintain flexibility in the scope of work to take away exactly what was right for us.

Would have loved a running list of deliverables or project tracker we could reliably refer back to — so when our timing needs changed, we could have easily seen what needed to give or take. But otherwise super happy with the process!

The team’s project management was excellent. They were highly responsive, organized, and proactive in addressing our needs throughout the process. Deliverables were provided on time, communication was clear (loved how easy BugHerd was to use), and they consistently ensured we felt supported at each stage. Overall, we were very pleased with how Kota managed the project and guided us through it.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

What impressed me most was how personable the team was. They never felt scripted or transactional the way agencies sometimes can. Their approach felt authentic and collaborative, which made the whole process much more enjoyable and easy to trust.

At times there was a bit of back-and-forth around who should take the lead on content outlining/design decisions, which created some minor confusion. That said, it felt more like a natural part of collaboration than a real issue, and overall the process still went smoothly.

We wanted a brand new website, from scratch. The goal was to make it as user friendly as possible, as our products are quite complex, and to share more insight into who we are as a company and what we do. The visuals needed to make a good impression and assist the text in communicating our ideas.

I'm the managing director of Playfords Ltd, a leading UK building services company specializing in electrical, mechanical, and data cabling solutions for complex projects across sectors such as education, health, retail, commercial, and industrial.

What challenge were you trying to address with KOTA?

We wanted to capture the history of our company, which is 100 years old, but also refresh and modernize it. We wanted to make it stand out from the crowd and take it to a new level by recognizing the past but having a distinct approach to the future. It was also important to highlight the key things Playfords does and how we work.

What was the scope of their involvement?

KOTA rebranded our company and developed a new website. Regarding rebranding, all elements from the logo to the color palette, fonts, and business cards were included. Our website was built from the ground up.

We worked with 4–5 teammates from KOTA.

A personal contact who works for KOTA referred them to us. Their proposal was fresh and captured exactly the brief we discussed. They offered a significantly better proposition than any other offer we had.

We worked together from October 2024–June 2025.

Our brand recognition has increased dramatically, and the complete project has had a great impact. We saw a 100% increase in brand recognition.

How did KOTA perform from a project management standpoint?

KOTA's project management was excellent. They had great communication, listened, took points on board, and really understood our needs. They delivered on time. We communicated via email and online meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

KOTA's ability to interpret our desires through various fact-finding calls was impressive. They absolutely blew us away with what they came up with, which far exceeded our expectations but perfectly captured what we wanted to achieve.

The overall project was a huge success... At every step of the way each team member delivered their product as promised, on time and to perfect quality. the progress was demonstrated in their timely delivery and completion for a very happy customer. The success is demonstrated in the delivery of a finished product that is just so perfect and we are so over joyed with.

Everything on time, and with a great amount of chasing of us, when we were slowing tasks down! They were always available and communicative to discuss briefs and amends.

We contracted Kota to design and build two new websites as part of a company rebrand covering both our design consultancy (DK&A) and our training academy (Design Thinkers Academy London). As a design agency, we carried out some user research alongside creating the new sitemaps and low-fi wireframes, and then supplied these to Kota along with our new brand guidelines so that they could bring the brand to life across the sites. 
We needed the website of our consultancy to operate as a shop window, explaining our services and inspiring users to get in touch. For our training academy we needed a website with full e-commerce functionality on top of this. Additionally both websites needed to be clearly unified under one brand while being separate entities. 
Kota recommended building the consultancy website on Wordpress and the training academy site on Shopify. The key deliverables were the designs of both websites (including interactive elements and animations) and the development and launch of both sites.

We had a dedicated project manager, Maja, who was excellent. At any point we had questions or concerns, we were able to raise these and they were dealt with quickly and effectively. Work from Kota was delivered on time, and their team worked with us to help make any necessary adjustments.

Really good communication between designers and developers, meaning that creative solutions could be found to pretty much all issues. The team was very responsive to our questions and always took the time to explain anything if there was any confusion.

It might have been useful to see more options for the designs of both websites in the early stages of the project, so that different approaches could be weighed against each other.

As a freelance design consultant and art director, I was asked by a major client to find an agency to redesign and relaunch their website and corporate identity. Some research led me to Kota and I immediately felt they would be a good fit. Kota updated the corporate logo and branding including typography and colours, and developed a brand guidelines document. This involved a series of meetings with the client and myself to work on mission, vision, brand values, tone of voice. 

They redesigned and relaunched the corporate website, working closely with us at all times.

The client was completely happy with the website and corporate rebrand. The client is an international group of companies, and personnel all around the world were completely positive about the outcome of the project.

Kota's project management was excellent. We started the process with in-person meetings to work on the corporate messaging, but our main contact on the client side was impatient and unwilling to invest much time in discussion, so we quickly moved to a different way of working, with me as the communication point between Kota and the clients. I relayed feedback and queries in both directions. 

I was in constant touch with Kota, particularly using Slack, and I had good access to the client, so the system worked well. It was a pleasure to work with Kota, as the team had clear ideas and a great vision, but were willing to discuss and adjust as circumstances required. They delivered everything on time and within budget.
