I’m the director of global multimedia of a children’s apparel company. We design, produce, manufacture, and sell big-name clothing brands whom we have licences with.

What challenge were you trying to address with KISS digital?

We wanted to redesign our website to obtain a fresh, new perspective.

What was the scope of their involvement?

They used Bolt to redesign our informational, customer-facing website and did a custom setup with workarounds for us. They’re currently working on an internal project.

What is the team composition?

I’ve met with one of the owners and the project manager. They’ve also had two designers for the initial mock-ups and pulled in people depending on what we need.

How did you come to work with KISS digital?

We looked at a few prominent companies, but chose KISS because of their accommodating approach. The others didn’t seem like they would work well for us and we knew they wouldn’t be able to deliver everything we wanted.

KISS is aware of our challenges as a privately owned family company. They know getting sign-offs will sometimes take a little longer and are willing to work around all of our needs.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent $20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Our relationship began in November 2017 and is ongoing. We still contact them if we need to adjust things.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The website has helped elevate our brand identity. Our HR department went from only posting open positions to being able to post new marketing articles.

How did KISS digital perform from a project management standpoint?

They adapted their process when they realized we weren’t following it very well. They’ve matched how we wanted to communicate with them. They’ve used offline Excel versions with milestones, but we’ve ended up using email as a primary communication method. They’ve remained accommodating to us and how we need to work even though it may be messier for them due to all of the follow-up.

What did you find most impressive about them?

One of the things that sets them apart is how approachable they are. They want to come in and learn about us. They answered a lot of questions before we even began a formal engagement, providing Google Analytics reports and guiding us on the best way to boost our SEO results.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We had an issue with copywriting, but it was more because we were working with large corporations who have their own way of saying things. We didn’t give them enough information, thus setting them up for failure.

We wanted to build an iOS and Android application for clients through which they could apply for factoring.

What was the scope of their involvement?
KISS digital assigned 5 resources to our project, including Android and iOS developers and UI/UX designers.

How did you come to work with KISS digital?
Another one of their clients recommended them. We met the CEO of KISS digital and discussed their participation in our project.

How much have you invested with KISS digital?
The cost of their work was around 80 MD.

What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with KISS digital in January 2017. The project was completed, but we have remained in touch with them for maintenance and additional feature development.

Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?
We don’t have any statistics, but the quality of the product developed by KISS digital was very good.

How did KISS digital perform from a project management standpoint?
The project management was good on their side. The manager who handled our project from the KISS digital side is not working for the company now. We only used email and phone for communication, and they used the scrum methodology for development.

Are there any areas KISS digital could improve?
I have no improvement suggestions.

Please provide a brief description of your company.

Our business started in 2006, when owner Daniel Gosiewski started a business to sell used agricultural machinery imported from abroad in Rębiszewo Studzianki (Poland), further expanding it to provide agricultural services. Thanks to an increasing number of trusted and dedicated customers, Adrol had decided to expand its activities in the local market, and as a result of further development of the business, a mechanical workshop was built to address the needs of our customers as well as our own.

Thanks to our customers’ trust and hard work, we are able to offer our customers a full range of professional services from sales to warranty services for all our machines and devices. By maintaining regular business contacts with suppliers of new machinery, we have constant access to genuine spare parts. We are also able to offer a comprehensive service for harvesting and sowing maize, baling, and renting trailers.

What is your role at the company?

I mainly deal with the planning and coordination of marketing activities for our company. My main tasks include analyzing the company's marketing effectiveness, including updating websites and media campaigns and preparing promotional materials to support sales. In addition, I deal in logistics and am involved in international and domestic transport issues. These are mostly orders to import agricultural machinery from France. I search the suppliers of the raw materials needed and organize the tasks related to the shipping of raw materials and goods.. I also control the unloading of the goods received.

OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE

What was the business challenge that you were trying to address with Kiss Digital? What kind of platform was being developed? What were your company’s business goals?

Our business challenge was to create a platform enabling the placement of agricultural machinery for temporary rental to users. We had noticed that there was a lack of such a portal tailored to the specific needs of our users. The platform is currently free in order to attract as many customers as possible, but in the next stages of development these actions will be monetized. The additional benefit is that we need a place where we can offer our machines, so we also use the platform to promote our products and services.

Kiss Digital’s work was to create a platform to sell and rent new and used agricultural machinery, service of these machines, and agricultural services, a concept that was created by Daniel Gosiewski (also, at the time, the owner of ADROL).

The whole project was to create a platform to rent agricultural machinery to users. We were also interested in creating a logotype, performing UCD tests of application graphic design, testing installation instructions, designing a landing page, and creating a system mail template project, among other things. As the project developed, we also started to work on a web platform. This led to additional tasks such as portal regulations, publications for newspapers, promotion animation with subtitles for presentation on social media and LCD screens, and support for the Facebook fan page.

During the course of our co-operation we were always able to count on them answering our project questions. We never met with a lack of desire from the KISS digital staff, and they sometimes went so far as to suggest to us that we modify the direction of our vision. Together we played towards one goal, and they also clearly wanted to be successful in the final outcome of our venture.

Our cooperation is still ongoing. We trust them and find that most of their questions and ideas are also in our own heads. Often, it’s like we are talking with friends. We are also grateful for their kindness, which is most important. KISS is a nice company and really worth recommending.

SOLUTION

Please describe the scope of the work and Kiss Digital's involvement in greater detail. Which specific technologies did they use? How many developers were assigned to this project?

As far as I know, 6 developers were working on the project, including 2 Android developers, 1 backend developer and 3 frontend developers. KISS participated in every stage of the project, starting with initial consultations, pre-deployment arrangements and analyzes, functional mockups and UCD research, graphic design, server parts programming, Android mobile applications, and frontend web development prior to launch. After this initial stage, they also prepared the implementation of a promotion strategy.

What was your process for selecting Kiss Digital's to work with?

The founder of our company conducted research, and we came across several companies, including KISS digital. Even in our first contact with them, we found ourselves feeling comfortable with the way they communicated as well as with their openness. In subsequent conversations, they confirmed their competence and extensive experience, and this allowed us to trust them fully.

When did the project begin, and has it been completed? When did this collaboration start approximately? Is the relationship still ongoing?

We made the first contact in October 2016. Work on the project started in December 2016 and continues today. In March, a mobile application for Android was released, and by the end of April, users had access to the web application. Currently, we are still working together on application promotion.

What are the results of the project, and is there any feedback, statistics or metrics you can share?

The feedback so far is very good. On Google Play, we receive the highest ratings and the number of downloads is increasing. The number of interested users also grows, among other things due to the upcoming harvest period.

How did Kiss Digital perform from a project management standpoint?

KISS digital has done well. Their methodology for project management (SCRUM) is something we have learned over the course of working with them. The process was very clear, efficient, and enabled us to keep in touch and ease into making changes at the right time.

Was there anything unique or special about Kiss Digital's work? Anything that really stood out as special?

Their lack of distance will be most memorable to us. All our conversations seemed as if we had known each other a long time ago. They are a very nice team of people.

Looking back on the project, is there any area that they could improve or you would do differently?

We do not have any specific comments on this topic.

PAYBACK is an international loyalty scheme provider based in Munich, Germany. The company is a part of the American Express group. It offers the biggest loyalty scheme in Poland, collaborating with big local companies. The Polish team numbers 150 employees.

What business challenge were you trying to address with KISS digital?

Our challenge was to develop a personalized landing page for PAYBACK members. The information needed to adapt to each user, after entering a member ID and account number. We used our transactional analytics from partners' point-of-sale systems, combined with information from the website. We had around 15 million members at the time.

KISS digital built our web solution. I was involved in marketing, so I'm not familiar with the technology used by KISS digital.

KISS digital was also responsible for creating artwork like banners.

How did you come to work with KISS digital?

We had used KISS digital in the past for a direct email marketing campaign. KISS digital was in charge of creating simple landing pages.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

The cost of KISS digital's services was around $130,000. [120,000 euros]

What is the status of this engagement?

The project was completed and is currently live.

Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

The end-results were positive. We exceeded our business goals. There were some bugs during development and after the platform launch, but KISS digital handled the fixes quite fast. 

How did KISS digital perform from a project management standpoint?

During our project with KISS digital, some tasks were very tight in terms of schedule. KISS digital proposed working during week-ends in order to enhance our results. We agreed to pay extra for this, because it was to our advantage to finish the work in time.

What distinguishes KISS digital from other providers?

KISS digital not only acted as a developer, but also offered strategy consulting for our approach on how to convert users, build communication within the portal, and so on. We tried a few different scenarios proposed by KISS digital.

Is there anything KISS digital could have improved or done differently?

We could have started the project earlier, but this was mainly our fault.

Smooth project takeover (it is always hard to work on code that is written by other company), be sure that all problems pointed out by our customers (using SDK) will be fixed fast and with high quality.

How did you select KISS digital?

I looked for medium-size companies in my city, make a round of personal meetings to choose best one regarding of their portfolio, description of proposed developement process and price.

Dotpay SDK enables Dotpay's customers (mainly online shops, but also f.eg. fintech companies) to use Dotpay's payment gateway with smallest development as possible. Basic integration is very simple, but advanced flows are also available, as possibility to customize look and feal to make SDK look like app that is used in.

Project manager plus one/two developers per platform, regarding of needs in specific moment.

Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

There have been no severe issues with our customers as new features get introduced in expected timeframes.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Classic tools to make cooperation process smooth, for bigger features daily/weekly meetings. All as it should be.

Everything has been going as expected.

Problems with version numbering - fortunately not on production.
