Kingsmen Digital Ventures was responsible for spinning up a Snowflake database and pulling our data from multiple systems via existing or custom-built API connectors. The team also created internal and client-facing portals to visualize the data, as well as our CA Billing app.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Kingsmen Digital Ventures solved a major problem for our business and our clients. Healthcare data is not only highly protected, but it’s also complicated to structure properly. The team was able to deliver on the backend structure of the data and wrap everything in a stunning frontend.The end result improved performance and reduced manual workflows in every department. We no longer need to rely on patching together reports from multiple different systems. We’ve also greatly reduced customer inquiries, as they can now access their data anytime in their portal.Overall, we’re now confident in our ability to scale and have been able to add additional clients without the need to bring on the same number of staff we once needed to service all aspects of account management. Since Kingsmen Digital Ventures delivered the finished project, we’ve brought on an additional 10 clients and have felt comfortable increasing our marketing spend.

You can spend a lot of time trying to find cheaper solutions, possibly even offshore, but if you just want it done right, Kingsmen Digital Ventures will deliver.

I’m a marketing communications specialist at HeartFlow, a medical technology company. We provide an AI-driven, non-invasive platform that creates personalized 3D heart models from CT scans to help clinicians diagnose and manage coronary artery disease more effectively.

Our previous website partner was difficult to work with. We had to manually schedule press releases, and the work was sloppy and costly for what we were getting. We needed someone to be a strategic partner for us. We were also in the middle of a rebrand, so we brought Kingsmen Digital Ventures to help us manage the overall look and feel of our website.

What was the scope of their involvement?

We mainly work with Dustin on the Kingsmen Digital Ventures team. He helps us with all deliverables across the website for all of our different products and website maintenance. Dustin is responsible for the upkeep of our entire website, including creating web pages using Figma files from our marketing agency, maintaining these web pages, and performing ongoing website maintenance (upkeep of global elements, Zapier setup for link updates, upkeep of WP Rocket and caching, etc.).

Dustin’s responsiveness and timely delivery of the needed deliverables have been great. Previously, our website team wouldn’t be able to hit our tight deadlines and would take longer to work on pages than we needed. Dustin has been able to work seamlessly with our timelines without any issues. Moreover, the overall look and feel of the website have been great.

Dustin is super easy to work with. We have a weekly meeting where we go over our Monday board of projects. We also have him on Slack so we can let him know of anything urgent that comes up. He’s always willing to work with us on our tight deadlines, and his work is detail-oriented and quick.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Kingsmen Digital Ventures manages our website and CMS, creating and updating modules, implementing new third-party scripts for support features, managing security best practices, and monitoring and optimizing website performance and health metrics. The team has handled security audits, new and updated Contentful modules, mobile and web responsiveness, and performance and site health improvements.

Regarding the Contentful modules, Kingsmen Digital Ventures has implemented standard and non-standard modules, including hero modules, CTA banners, 50/50s, new pages, and programmatic implementations that require third-party integrations. The team has also worked on performance improvements for the modules, imagery and video support, and title hierarchy.

We brought Kingsmen in to help build the connectors between our existing lending channels and new leasing/lending partners that are not traditional banks.  We needed a web and mobile experience for our customers to take advantage of this financing with underwriting, payments, payment methods, recurring billing and most importantly upsells into new vehicles.

Since the project launch we have seen more than $2M in transactions flow through this new lending system with more than 30 upsell transactions resulting in immediate ROI from another car purchase but also for us to take the lease back from their existing vehicle.  Customer's love the experience and how unique it is to work with us.

We had Kingsmen build us a mobile app that connects to our gym management system to allow many of our proprietary measurements and performance indicators to be shown directly to our athletes and their parents.  We required that this system integrate with specific equipment on the floor, cloud solutions, and our CRM. 

We also had some intake and website screens that showed the same information that required them to modify and improve our web presence.

We got the app shipped before the holidays the same year we started work with Kingsmen and we have over 80% of our members and their parents using it.

Delivery was on time for the parameters that we gave.  We weren't strict on the schedule and we had some requirements that they helped us flush out, so project mangement from their site was always on top of it.

As always its tough to know how much you're going to spend when you don't have the entire idea totally baked.  Would have been nice to get ballpark estimation sooner so that I could decide better when to pull the trigger.

We needed help with custom software development, UI/UX design, and web development. Our specific goal was to create a platform that provided a modern supplier diversity and contract management experience. We were experts in the space and saw a gap in what was provided in our industry. We wanted to bring something new and modern to our industry.

What was the scope of their involvement?

Kingsmen Digital Ventures helped us create a fast platform to provide a modern supplier diversity and contract management experience. The team used WordPress, Java, Confluence, AWS, and CircleCI to build this solution.

One of the main features was real-time metrics; everything was updated in real time. We were big on goal tracking, so we designed dashboards that updated in real time and provided those goal-tracking metrics. Another big feature was the payment reporting aspect of the software, along with the notifications in that system. That feature was created to ensure that the process flowed nicely for our users.

What is the team composition?

Depending on our needs, we worked closely with 2–5 teammates from Kingsmen Digital Ventures at a time. We worked closely with Russell, who was the key developer. We also worked with various coders, designers, and administrative assistants.

How did you come to work with Kingsmen Digital Ventures?

They were a referral. We chose them for their expertise and professionalism. As subject matter experts in this space, we already knew what we wanted to create. However, we had never built a software product before. Due to Kingsmen Digital Ventures' level of knowledge and expertise, we felt comfortable and confident moving forward with them because they would be able to make our dream a reality.

We spent around $1 million.

We worked together from November 2017–October 2024.

What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

With the software and system, we could provide an additional asset to our current customers. A lot of our customers were public and government agencies, so they could use it with their vendors. This helped them improve cost savings and efficiency within their workplace. It also helped them ensure that the reporting requirements were in place and that they could meet those or identify issues.

We were also able to increase our level of clients in general. Sometimes, we could sway people from one of the systems they were currently on to use ours. One of the biggest moments was when we could sell the software; we were acquired. Kingsmen Digital Ventures guided us through that due diligence and a successful exit. Overall, it was amazing.

How did Kingsmen Digital Ventures perform from a project management standpoint?

There was always a stream of communication back and forth. Kingsmen Digital Ventures implemented several channels that we could use to get in contact with them. Everything was on time, and if we had an urgent request, they could get it to us right away. We communicated through Jira, Confluence, Slack, emails, text messages, and phone calls.

Are there any employees from the service provider's team that you would like to give a shout-out to in this review?

Russell was with us from the beginning. He listened to what we wanted, even when our industry and space weren't always easy to grasp; a lot of things played into it. Still, his ability to process all that information and create something exactly in line with what we wanted was great.

There was a time when we tried to get those services elsewhere. We built it to a point where we thought we could go overseas because it was more affordable. We quickly learned that we didn’t get the same level of care, expertise, and knowledge. We ended up going back to Russell and were appreciative of everything he did.

What did you find most impressive about them?

We felt that their fees were higher than some of their competitors. However, the level of service, knowledge, and expertise we got was unmatched anywhere else. We wasted money overseas when we could have just used Kingsmen Digital Ventures from the beginning.

As a business strategy, we needed to bring down the huge upfront cost of launching new products in the medical aesthetics field by utilizing technology instead of brute manpower.  We have seen other competitors in the space use platform technology that Kingsmen has built and wanted to leverage their expertise.  
Our scope of work with Kingsman was very expansive as it touches almost all of our commercial go-to-market strategy. We asked Kingsmen to build us an entire sales enablement suite that offered tools for our reps to sell product, have conversations with customers, and surface promotions.  In addition, we needed the reps to be able to open accounts quickly and convert from other competition.
Secondly, we had Kingsmen build out our entire volume based purchase program with tiers and discount structure with a deep integration with our CRM so that we could establish quickly that we are a price and value leader. 

Third, we had Kingsmen build out our initial loyalty systems for both our customers and their patients.

We currently continue to work with Kingsmen on an annual basis for all of our technical needs.

What were the measurable outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

As of Q2 2024, we have opened over 4000 accounts that are currently purchasing from us in some fashion with 30% of the reps that we originally anticipated needing.  We have seen repeat order rates through our technology based solutions remain at a record-breaking 80% rate without rep intervention.  

We are looking to introduce several new products from the pipeline in 2025 and will leverage the technology built here to do so.

Kingsmen has never been late for us.  Despite the crazy internal chaos and the timing of our approvals from the FDA, we have been all over the place in terms of deadlines and they have continued to help give us optionality and solutions that we can build on.

The contracting process with Kingsmen was a little longer than I would have liked, but still relatively quick for aesthetics.  We are an industry not used to contract langauge around development terms and engineering concepts, but we got through it.  Would have liked to have seen quicker turnaround from their legal counterparts.

We were looking for a scalable ecosystem that would run the facility from rentals, to training sessions, and leagues to support club teams and the basketball business in general.  The solutions that exist in the market are not generally useful for scaling new locations and providing accurate reporting across all franchises.  We were looking for a web app and a mobile app for both back office staff/trainers, and the customer themselves. 

Key Deliverables: 

• Mobile app for both iOS/Android for booking, rentals, payment management, team/player management, tournament schedules, and leagues
• Web app for back office managment and customer facing for booking services on our website

We were able to launch in September of 2023 and our customers love the application.  We have been able to work with the Kingsmen team over time to quickly adjust to the basketball business model and to bring new features that have made the lives of our back office staff much easier.

This app is the backbone of our business operations.

Our facility wasn't physically ready in a timely manner, but the software that Kingsmen built us was ready to go on time.  In fact, we were able to add a few things to the mobile app that were previously thought to be nice-to-haves because of the speed we got from the Kingsmen team.  They are ultra-responsive, and having them local and passionate about our business makes working with them easy.

Kingsmen has a lot of proactive thinkers that can come up with edge cases that we didn't necessarily think of and helped make our customer experience appear bulletproof to our customers.  They have a lot of community oriented individuals who all can think like our target customers so it made describing and manifesting what we needed very easy. 

Are there any areas for improvement or something Kingsmen Digital Ventures could have done differently?

We had a couple team members get swapped out on us in the middle of the project, which Kingsmen managed well, but was a little bit jarring.  If we could have gotten a little more notice of that it would have been appreciated.

The project included integration with complicated CRM so that automation was seamless for our sales and marketing teams. They had to leverage two different CRM systems and build a geo-locator that was reliable and effective at conversion.

Project was completed on time and under budget with beautiful results. The outcome was a flawless site that functioned as a lead generation and customer intelligence tool and served as the digital front door of our company.

However, we always found they made time for us and worked with us to achieve our goals.
