This frequent rotation of personnel sometimes disrupted the continuity and consistency of our project delivery. It occasionally led to challenges in maintaining a steady pace and ensuring that each team member was fully up-to-date with the project's nuances and history. To address this, Kindgeek could consider implementing more robust knowledge transfer processes and continuity strategies. This might include more detailed documentation of ongoing projects, enhanced training for new team members, and perhaps a more gradual transition plan when personnel changes are necessary. Such measures could help mitigate the impacts of staff turnover and maintain a more consistent pace of delivery.

They could spend more time on prototyping and user-testing before going into the development phase because that could reduce engineering costs in the future.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Ensure that you’re going into the process of having a macro story to look at the key deliverables for the project. Having a good detail of a long-term strategy will help you capture the priorities over time.

**The Review** — Sep 8, 2021

**Feedback Summary**: The company is impressed with KindGeek’s communication and development skills. They’re flexible experts in their field. They also coordinate well with the firm’s internal stakeholders, enabling them to contribute to the projects and deliver results. Overall, the partnership has been successful.
"“They’re a great firm to work with, and they have great expertise in the space they’ve chosen.”"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the chief financial engineer for The Interface Financial Group, a 50-year old company that provides supply chain finance solutions around the world and early payment programs for Fortune 1000 companies. I’m responsible for the API that connects our platforms and data science teams. In this role, I also handle our IT vendor management system.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We hired KindGeek to help us find good talents that could quickly adapt to the technological changes in the fintech industry. On top of that, we wanted to find such skilled people in a cost-effective manner; the cost of acquiring and maintaining such talent should be reasonable.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

One of the projects we’ve done with KindGeek resources involves a digital supply chain portal that allows suppliers to see their scheduled payments and paid invoices. The team has worked on connectivity features and API accesses within the portal. Everything has been done using the React Native tech stack, and it’s all cloud-based; we’re using Amazon for hardware infrastructure. Moreover, around 98% of this project is done by KindGeek developers; we simply provide the management and blueprint.

What is the team composition?

We mainly work with Anton (CEO) and Yurii (Junior Software Engineer). Our team then collaborates with a senior frontend developer and QA engineers.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

We talked to 25–30 companies from different parts of the world. In the end, I listened to my gut instinct when I hired KindGeek. Their approach, flexibility, and the way their organization was structured appealed to us — they were the equivalent of Google when it came to finding the best talents in the region. As a result, we decided to work closely with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent between $1 million–$10 million.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them in November 2019, and the partnership is ongoing

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We measure success based on our communication levels. KindGeek has the ability to move quickly while working with our technology team, which includes our CTO and VP of product. In other words, they work well with everyone in our team in a timely fashion, and they contribute to the project. Overall, we’ve seen results from their work.

I highly recommend working with KindGeek — not only with the ones who are working with us but also with the whole company itself. They’re a great firm to work with, and they have great expertise in the space they’ve chosen.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

We handle project management. Yet, it’s remarkable how KindGeek brings developers onboard and cultivates them in a culture that’s acceptable to a western company. To clarify, many other companies are body shops: they merely bring someone in, put them on an outsourced project, and then wash their hands. By contrast, KindGeek truly contributes to us. They have a training process where the resources can get accustomed to our work ethics and culture.

In terms of communications and deadlines, they’re great. Our teams have weekly sprints via Jira so that KindGeek understands our requirements. They’re on top of our weekly meetings, and all conversations are open and clean. Everything is well-coordinated between our teams, especially around the vacation time they have internally. Moreover, we have a matrix-based relationship, where our product developer works directly with their developers. Overall, their communication is one of their pillar strengths.

What did you find most impressive about them?

KindGeek’s flexibility and knowledge are the most impressive things about working with them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’re always looking for more resources. It’s difficult, but this is a challenge anywhere in the tech sector.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

You need a plan. When you hire KindGeek for your company or team, you have to nurture the relationship. You must communicate, too. The KindGeek team has great communication skills and is open to ideas and feedback, but that should go both ways. You must make it a priority to reach out to their team. In other words, you shouldn’t hire a company and then wash your hands; that’s not the way to achieve results. You must integrate them into your team and professional lifestyle.

**Feedback Summary**: KindGeek’s work meets all client expectations. The team delivers high-caliber work that consistently tests well. Their project management is top-notch and streamlined. On the whole, the team has excellent English communication skills. KindGeek’s approach is collaborative and effective.
"“Our ability to hit our migration deadline is a direct result of KindGeek’s work.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the head of infrastructure and DevOps of a mobile-first credit card company based in London.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We were presented with an opportunity to do a migration of a large portfolio onto our system. To do so, we needed to rapidly increase our resources.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

KindGeek provides software development and DevOps resources. We’re mobile-first, so our goal is to develop the services and applications in that realm. There’s a high degree of security required since we also issue physical credit cards and maintain other financial credit cards.

What is the team composition?

At the peak, we worked with 30–35 people from their team. We work with a project manager, scrum masters, a case manager, and tech leads to manage the project.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

They were recommended to us by a different vendor. Initially, they were brought on to do the frontend. Their ability to ramp up and deliver stood out; they were very quick to hit deliverables and get up to speed. Once we realized what they were capable of, we gave them backend and testing work.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent £2 million (approximately $2.8 million USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in March 2019, and our work is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Our ability to hit our migration deadline is a direct result of KindGeek’s work. The quality of their work is at a high standard. We have 80% test coverage and their deliverables are A or A-plus.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

Our project management team is superb. They’re invaluable and help absorb a lot of knowledge from our architect and disseminate it to the team.

KindGeek makes sure their employees speak English to a very high standard. We keep in touch via email and have standups via Slack. A large portion of their development team is integrated into our team as though they are permanent staff members.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re very open from the start. It’s not like other development houses where you give them a task and you get a deliverable two weeks later. It’s a very hands-on process where you’re able to deal with developers on the team and coach as you go.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The team tends to bite off more than they can chew to a degree. In the earlier parts of the project, we started seeing deadlines getting pushed because the scope had changed. It’s a hard thing to manage and we brought on scope managers later in the engagement. It all worked out.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

My advice is to keep in mind that you’re integrating a team. They’re not a “fire and forget” development house. You have to want to be involved in the process. Personally, I see that as a strength. I can understand how it could be daunting to integrate a team into your own if you aren't used to it.

**The Review** — Apr 7, 2021

**Feedback Summary**: With several hundred users, no crashes, and a wealth of internal and external positive feedback, the apps delivered have performed well so far. KindGeek has provided strong project management and collaboration that has ensured all solutions work exactly as intended. The firms communicate regularly.
""They’re a competent team that has integrated well into our company."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m a co-founder of a digital health company. We’re working to develop a mobile app as well as some different admin panels to allow people to store their vaccination records and provide personalized recommendations for traveling to different locations.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We were looking for a primary software development team to build our entire product suite.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We’re not technically-minded at all, so they helped us through the whole process. They handled front- and backend development, UI/UX design, and project management. We had a color scheme and rough branding model picked out before we started working with them, but they were instrumental in putting together the actual layout and design of the app. The final product is available for iOS and Android.

What is the team composition?

We’ve worked with the same project manager throughout our engagement, but they’ve given us different UI/UX designers and front- and backend developers on the different projects we’ve partnered on. We’ve always had between 5 to 10 of their team members working with us.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

We had a recommendation from someone to look into KindGeek, but the recommendation came from someone who hadn’t worked directly with them so we still spent a long time looking at different developers. During this process, we got along really well with their team. They were able to share our vision for our products from the first time we spoke with them. We were confident we’d be able to work well together for a long period of time.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve spent about $30,000–$60,000 so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working together since June 2020

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

Both our iOS and Android apps have attracted a few hundred users and neither has had any crashes. Our internal testing and user feedback have all yielded positive results. The user experience and flow of the app are exactly what we wanted. We collaborated on specific elements of the solution that we felt were necessary. They were able to incorporate these elements without any issues. We’re really happy with the final product and are excited to keep working with them.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

Kate (Project Manager) has been great at managing the project. She’ll explain the technical details to us in an easily digestible way and then will effectively relay our ideas to their developers. She’s held the team together and has been the driving force behind us achieving our goals for the project. We have weekly standup meetings over video calls. Outside of these meetings, we communicate via Slack.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They’re a competent team that has integrated well into our company. Their price point is very competitive and they’ve never gone over budget. They stick to deadlines but stay realistic about the deadlines they set. We feel like they’re invested in our goals.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything. The experience has been completely seamless, with the only project delays stemming from Apple-related issues.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Definitely make the most of all your communication channels. Having the Slack channel in conjunction with our weekly meetings has helped us keep everything on track.

The team utilized Slack and Jira as tools for their diversified project management. They provide reliable communication and on-time milestone delivery.
""We at myProfashional are satisfied with KindGeek's work."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the initiator, the passionate visionary, the creative mind and let in close collaboration with our CTO the development of our web app, basically transforming our startup idea into a compelling product together with our agency partner KindGeek.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire KindGeek, and what were your goals?

KindGeek developed our web platform from scratch. The company has worked on React integrating calendar and payment features. The goal was for KindGeek to guide us through a discovery phase, come up with a design concept as well as functionality solutions.

Once the scope of work has been defined, KindGeek worked both on our bespoke backend as well as consumer-facing frontend. KindGeek's reliable communication, on-time delivery of milestones, and overall project management satisfied us very much.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select KindGeek and what were the deciding factors?

We had heard that the Ukrainian IT market offers competent web consulting and app development options at an attractive price point. We had therefore started an RFP process and were looking to find a partner for our project execution in the Ukraine. During the Tender we became aware of another Swiss startup KindGeek had worked with previously, and after an exchange with that startup only got positive feedback.

After conducting research, we decided to collaborate with KindGeek. The deciding factors were, that after the Discovery Phase we conducted with KindGeek and after having evaluated their work against some other software development companies we had a closer look at, KindGeek outperformed in terms of quality and pricing, which is why we worked with them as a partner in the end.

Describe the scope of work in detail, including the project steps, key deliverables, and technologies used.

Our idea was to develop a web platform that allows our customers to browse profiles and to book personal shopping trips with so called "profashionals" aka "stylists". KindGeek built the frontend and created the backend logic (using scratch in React). Also, KindGeek added a calendar function to show our stylists' availability to customers. Moreover, for automatic payments, Stripe was seemlessly integrated.

We began our cooperation with running the Discovery Phase. Our KindGeek's colleagues at all times, listened and assessed our needs carefully and came up with suggestions that were feasible in terms of time and budget available.

They helped us to turn our idea into a compelling product that ever since its launch, proved to fuction without any major technical issues. They used React JS, WebStorm, Sketch, Zeplin, and Invision technologies and tools. We went live in October 2018, and the platform is up and running since day 1.

How many people from the vendor's team worked with you, and what were their positions?

The team at KindGeek's side consisted of seven team members. First, we contacted the CEO. After that, a full-time business analyst was allocated to our project. At the peak of the project, we worked with two frontend developers, two backend developers, a lead architect, and a Q&A person.

However, the size of the team dedicated to our project differed throughout its different stages - the team size was hence always adjusted according to our project-demand. We mainly worked on a time-and-material basis, not on a "dedicated team" basis. Which proved to work very well for us.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any measurable outcomes of the project or general feedback about the deliverables?

We receive frequently positive feedback from our users that the UI and UX of our website is self explandatory, intuitive, and visually appealing. Customers find the platform easy to navigate through and straightforward. We at myProfashional are satisfied with KindGeek's work and will be glad to keep collaborating with them in the future.

Describe their project management style, including communication tools and timelines.

We have used plenty of different channels to communicate. Mainly, we interacted via Slack and re-occuring calls. On a ticket-management level, we worked with Jira. For design work, we mostly leveraged the tool Sketch for design. The business analyst dedicated to our project was young but incredibly skilled and senior in terms of project management.

This was an indispensable part for the success of our project. KindGeek’s business analyst was truly exceptional in terms of punctuality and communicated most transapently and precise. Without her, I'm not sure we would be where we are today. Also, when our team visited the company's office (Lviv, Ukraine) KindGeek's folks demonstrated their commitment and reliability to us in a very pleasing manner.

We had an important pitch event here in Switzerland. We promised to have our product ready by that deadline. So, the deadline of the project was set from the very beginning of our cooperation with KindGeek. And they managed to successfully implement our project on time. They followed up on tasks and completed them with precision.

What did you find most impressive or unique about this company?

At all times of the project, we as a team had a good feeling that we knew what was going on and what we'd spend our money on. When visiting KindGeek's office in 2019, the atmosphere was very welcoming. The experience of working with this company was smooth and rich of transparency despite 90% of the work having been conducted in a remote working collaboration.

To us, knowing the people we worked with made a difference. It was a valuable factor to have spent a week at KindGeek's office.

I'd recommend this to anyone considering to work with KindGeek since it helped us as a startup team to understand them as development partner. It also improved the collaboration siginificantly once we knew who took care of what - I want to say, even friendships were built.

Are there any areas for improvement or something they could have done differently?

It was hard to agree on the cost estimate in the beginning. Our budget was limited, and we had to agree on a exact scope that we could squeeze into that budget. But after that moment, we have cooperated well, and KindGeek, has resolved issues and managed our budget very indepenantly and reliably.

We have stayed on track with the budget. It took us a while to define what was in and what was out in terms of features, but the final cost estimate was precise, and we have neither overspent (nor underspent).

""Their ability to find solutions quickly and offer alternatives impress us the most."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

I am the co-founder & Chief Product Officer at VacTrack. VacTrack is a patient-centric app that delivers information regarding when vaccinations should be taken and where these vaccinations can be taken in relation to travel and government specified recommendations.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire KindGeek?

VacTrack used KindGeek for the whole development cycle of it's MVP. This included initial designs and ran through full stack development, project management, and app store release.

What were your goals for this project?

To create an MVP that we could deliver to stakeholders and clients.

**SOLUTION**
How did you select KindGeek?

After exploring multiple options (10) we decided to go with KindGeek as they provided the most in depth scope and breakdown of the project, proving greater insight into our needs than their competitors. They also provided a quote in line with our expectations which also priced them very well against the other options.

Describe the project in detail.

We had designs and a general idea before entering into a contract with KindGeek. they started with wireframes and created stories/flows based on this which after iterations were taken forward to develop the full app. It is developed for iOS and Android. They did not just deliver as we needed but helped in talking us through different options we had not considered and demonstrated how this could be advantageous to the user.

What was the team composition?

the size of the team was consistent throughout and involved a Project manager, business analyst, UX/UI designer, as well as a flutter developer and backend engineer.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We achieved an additional 50K in financing having delivered the MVP. We are working towards securing our first client. The results were as expected. The app produced was a high standard and better than imagined in many ways. There were a few minor issues that KindGeek quickly resolved and worked with us to ensure these were fixed in accordance with our expectations.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Using slack and google meets as the mainline of communication, I met with KindGeek three times a week at a time that suited me as well as getting regular updates. There were slight communication mishaps at the beginning of the relationship as one can expect in any new business dynamic, however, we quickly came up with solutions to this and the ongoing relationship and communication was great. I am hence looking forward to continued work with them knowing communication will not be an issue.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

Their ability to find solutions quickly and offer alternatives impress us the most. We didn't feel fixed in to one suggestion. They worked quickly and efficiently and stuck to a set and defined budget without VacTrack having to monitor this.

Are there any areas for improvement?

This is my teams first attempt at developing an app and have little product experience. It would have been good to have sat down at the beginning and established how we would be involved, especially during the design phase. Otherwise, everything was better than expected with great outcomes.

"“Took direction extremely well, and in our initial meetings, took amazing initiative to build on our ideas and vision.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your company and your position there.

A live streaming and video on demand platform for Sport and Music. Founder, CEO and Head of Product

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire KindGeek?

We hired KindGeek to complete our Discovery Phase and prototype. This included full scope, mind maps, UI design, clickable prototype, WBS sheet, and architecture.

What were your goals for this project?

We wanted a full scope for our MVP, as well as a quote for this MVP and Alpha release, and a clickable UI Prototype

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We researched online, made a list of 6 companies we vetted via Zoom interview, and were the most impressed with KindGeek. Their knowledge and the initiative they showed put them on top of the list, and the fact their designers made some static screen UI mocks as a part of their presentation sealed our decision.

Describe the project in detail.

We worked with the team on the scope for our MVP and Alpha release of our Live Streaming and Video on Demand platform, including meticulous details on features for each release, mind maps, tech stack, architecture, third party API integration and UI design. I worked with them on the scope, provided design documents, market research, API options, UI design examples and sat in on meetings each week (around 3 per week) to give guidelines, feedback and help make decisions. KindGeek took my feedback, guidelines etc. and put together our mind maps, UI design, WBS sheet and prototype.

What was the team composition?

We had 3 main team members. A Project Manager, DevOps, UI Designer. We then added an architect later in the project for our wire frames and third party API research

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any outcomes from the project that demonstrate progress or success?

We got exactly what we were hoping for. A clickable demo that shared/demonstrated our vision, as well as a meticulous scope document, roadmap, mind maps and WBS sheet to allow us to take to investors and partners.

How effective was the workflow between your team and theirs?

Workflow was great. Our project manager was extremely reliable with scheduling and keeping meetings, as well as times (greatly appreciated given the time difference). We received summary emails of all work completed each day, as well as main points of our meetings. We communicated over email and Slack.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The team was fantastic. Really enjoyed working with them. Extremely friendly, knowledgable and professional. Took direction extremely well, and in our initial meetings, took amazing initiative to build on our ideas and vision. There was no language barrier at all and I was extremely impressed with the level of detail. They were extremely meticulous, often posing features, future problems and scenarios I hadn't thought of.

Are there any areas for improvement?

Not too many, maybe just expectations of the scope of work which resulted in them going slightly over budget and I feel this could've been avoided if there was slightly better communication of our priorities.

The project management was performed using Slack, Skype, and email. We had stand-ups with dev teams once a week to catch up with the process and share our thoughts. Also, perhaps, once in a quarter, I visited the company personally to keep in close contact.

As a pleasant bonus, South Africa and Ukraine are mostly in the same time zone, which was convenient. Despite the cultural differences and distance, our communication was effective and enjoyable.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

The work was always delivered in time and just how we imagined it. They also brought in business analysis expertise to ensure that there was no “roughness around the edges” of the product that might’ve affected its performance negatively. It was a pleasant bonus.

Are there any areas for improvement?

I didn’t notice anything that negatively affected our partnership or work.

It’s a blockchain project with the help of which users can safely sell their personal data to banks, insurance companies, and other organizations that could find the data useful. I’m CEO at the company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
For what projects/services did your company hire KindGeek?

KindGeek’s task was to develop the project from scratch, including front and back end.

What were your goals for this project?

To collect and store large amount of data-sets of consumersI’m a firm believer that improvement is an endless process, especially in business. I have nothing particular to add about KindGeek: they do their best to continuously improve, and it’s quite apparent if you work with them. In their case, I’d say they should act just like they do, and they will remain a well-rounded successful company. .

**SOLUTION**
How did you select this vendor?

We’ve heard a lot of good reviews about KindGeek. Also, their price to quality ratio is attractive.

Describe the project and the services they provided in detail.

KindGeek had to fully develop a product. They planned the system architecture, chose the most appropriate tools to develop, designed the user interface, built front and back end from down to top, and tested everything.

What was the team composition?

The team was small considering the size of the project. The team consisted of full-stack software developer, quality assurance expert, project manager, UI/UX designer, and devops.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Can you share any information that demonstrates the impact that this project has had on your business?

I don’t have data I can share so far.

The way they conduct project management is well-balanced between formal and informal, which helps to maintain strong relations with customers. Overall, we felt like partners and not simply customers.

What did you find most impressive about this company?

KindGeek has sharp business expertise, and they helped us define the business value our project could deliver. On top of that, the company isn’t afraid to admit their mistakes and work on them, which helps them to continuously grow as the company. It’s quite a pleasant rarity.

Are there any areas for improvement?

As I said, there were a few issues around planning, but it wasn’t a regular problem. The rest was perfect.

**The Review** — Sep 17, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: KindGeek’s work consistently meets quality standards without sacrificing timeliness or flexibility, enabling a long partnership. The team offers scalability options for their resources and project management. They show devotion to providing top-notch customer service.
""The culture fostered by the senior management perpetuates good values in terms of service and cooperation."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder and CTO of seeknspeak, a recruitment platform. We started our business in January 2017.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

KindGeek has been our outsourced development team since day one when our company was founded.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

KindGeek develops the front- and backend of our platform using Angular, PHP, and MySQL. They offer end-to-end services—from design to DevOps to QA. The platform uses Amazon’s Redis, Elastic Transcoder, and some server architecture.

Their team also provided support on a brief app development project that we shut down after a few months due to internal circumstances. KindGeek’s development team uses Scrum methodology to deliver.

What is the team composition?

The team size has fluctuated over time. We currently work with a full-time backend developer, a full-time frontend developer, a full-time tester, and some ad-hoc project management team members.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

I had worked with some members of KindGeek’s team before when they were under a different name. I found the group to be highly service-minded. They care more about building a relationship with their client than following a specific process. I like to make sure that any vendor I work with is invested and dedicated to my project, so I was happy to see that level of involvement from KindGeek. That’s why I picked them again for this project.

How much have you invested with them?

We spent between £150,000–£200,000 (approximately $187,000–$250,000 USD).

What is the status of this engagement?

The partnership started in January 2017 and is ongoing, but we plan to wrap up their involvement in a month.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

KindGeek’s service team is very dedicated to making sure that they deliver high quality throughout the process. Whenever we encounter minor obstacles and miscommunication, their team was always able to solve the issues and ensure that we’re still on track. We can all always do better, but I think KindGeek has done a great job.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

We began with a fixed-fee model for the first three months, and we’ve had a full-time dedicated team ever since. Since I like to be very hands-on, I function as a technical leader. I take care of project management from my side, making daily phone calls and so on. We worked with a project manager two and a half years for a major project that had a tight deadline. That went very well, but we haven’t needed those services since.

What did you find most impressive about them?

Their service mentality stood out the most to me. The culture fostered by the senior management perpetuates good values in terms of service and cooperation. This made KindGeek seem different to me compared to other vendors.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We can always do better, but apart from small details, KindGeek is doing an excellent job. They have a culture of self-improvement, and I have nothing critical to say about our cooperation with them.

Any advice for potential customers?

For any outsourced project, make sure the business side of the project is clearly defined for all parties. I don’t have any specific advice for customers considering KindGeek. Their level of quality is above average for a company their size, and their level of service stands out. Anyone can do just fine working with KindGeek.

#### Transport Optimization Software for Consulting Firm

**The Review** — Sep 11, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: The system received positive feedback from the customer and the end user. They're a flexible team who can scale their resource commitment as needed, and they deliver on short deadlines.
""I would advise anyone to work with them."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the CTO of a consulting firm.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

I was looking for a contractor to help us. We had growth in the company and attracted new contracts and new customers. We were growing so quickly that we couldn’t cover all of our programming needs with our own in-house resources and we needed additional help.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Our system optimizes transportation routes. It essentially finds the optimized way to lower customer traffic for the cruise lines at the harbor where the cruise starts and also the harbor where the cruise ends. Cruise lines usually have thousands of people that arrive at the harbor at the appropriate time, and the agency books not only single seats for flights but also the entire airplane or the airline for specific dates such as a charter and things like that. This should be optimized years ahead of time, which is quite complicated.

We used AWS data processing with the logic covering optimization routes. The main technology that we used was Java Enterprise Edition with everything based on microservices.

KindGeek has also worked on smaller projects for us.

What is the team composition?

We had a team of six to eight people. From milestone to milestone, we had to change the team as the logic within the project changed. Sometimes we would need more resources from them as more parts needed to be developed on the backend, and sometimes we had to reduce our resources when only frontend development was needed.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

I was born in Ukraine and I have a lot of connections there. Their team was recommended to me.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working with KindGeek in November 2017 and the work is still ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

It’s natural to find bugs in any kind of software project, but those we found were minor. We didn’t have any conflicts, and we made all the necessary changes after testing.

Our end customer was also satisfied and they added new functionalities and increased the scope. KindGeek did a very good job and I am very satisfied with the cooperation with them.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

I didn’t have any problems. From a project management perspective, I think they have a reliable team. They were really flexible, and I am really happy that they could provide us with that type of support.

There were situations where we had to change some functionalities and this meant changing the development or rolling something back, and KindGeek’s management was very responsive. They reacted very quickly, and if we needed to scale up in order to meet the milestones, they also provided us with developers.

I felt comfortable receiving reports so that I could control the budget. I always have a contact person who provides me with daily information from the team. I never needed to talk to a separate developer.

This has been very good for me because I could control the development of my smartphone. I didn’t need to write many emails, and the information was short, correct, and quick, which is something I liked.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I had experience with other providers, and sometimes we ended up breaking our contract. The difference with KindGeek is that they are a young group of people who are open and reactive. They were much quicker than other providers, which I liked. When I receive an urgent need from my customer, I know I can ask them to provide me with additional help by the next morning and they will deliver.

In comparison to other competitors, I am glad their team is very organized and reactive to modern tools. Some of the other contractors I have worked with were slower and a bit more old school.

Are there any areas they could improve?

No, I’m completely satisfied.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would advise anyone to work with them.

They were able to turn the project around very quickly and the quality of their work is very high.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very flexible and responsive to our requests. We mostly used email and video calls to communicate.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They really tried to understand the business context and the target audience for the website. Also, if they ever found an issue, they'd come up with a solution. They never gave us an excuse or said that something wasn't working for them.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I can't think of anything.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

We didn't meet in person, so we found video calls to be very helpful. They have experience in different industries, so they can share a lot of insights.

- Industry: Other industries

- Client size: 1-10 Employees
- Review Type: Phone Interview
- Verified

**The Review** — Jun 14, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: The developed code base serves as a good foundation for future development. While collaboration could have been more effective, Kind Geek did a successful job of building a relationship based on trust. They excel at adapting to resource restraints.
""They have a good understanding of what startup environments require."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the CEO and founder of a healthcare platform. We try to improve patients’ experience with healthcare services in Africa. The platform would connect with the patient from the moment they see a general practitioner all the way to the moment they come out of the hospital and get their medication. It’ll serve as a central repository for clinical information and clinical processes.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with Kind Geek?

One of the biggest challenges is that healthcare services aren’t coordinated in Africa. There’s no coordination or one point of contact for a patient. We want to integrate and bring all the stakeholders and the delivery of healthcare services to the patient under one platform. Kind Geek has been helping to build the web app for the platform, and the mobile app will be done in house.

We are very particular in terms of the problem we’re trying to solve. It’s an African problem that needs a solution that’s created by Africans with context and experience.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Kind Geek has completed our first phase of development by creating a code base. Technologies used include Java and PHP.

Platform features include a patient profile of electronic medical records, the doctor’s profile, booking systems, and referral systems. There’s also a functionality that tracks patient cases through the healthcare system.

What is the team composition?

I had a main contact point, and we also worked with the CEO, Elena (Marketing Manager, Kind Geek), and another employee.

How did you come to work with Kind Geek?

They were referred from a friend who had worked with them before and had a good experience with them.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested around $150,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started talking with Kind Geek in December 2017, and we started building in February 2018 or March 2018. They handed over their work in May 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

They did a good job of giving us a product that we can continue to tweak in house.

How did Kind Geek perform from a project management standpoint?

I would say they managed the project well. However, their location in Ukraine has been a challenge. It was tough to communicate with them in English, and we probably needed more time to communicate face-to-face. We use Slack, Jira, and Bitbucket.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They have a good understanding of what startup environments require. They were cooperative when challenges arose, and they didn’t pressure us for answers. There was an element of trust between us.

Are there any areas they could improve?

They could focus more on long-term scalability and the larger problems associated with the projects. They could put more effort into figuring out what the client needs beyond just the coded solution. It would be beneficial if they could offer advice about how to offer a platform for the future, not just a platform for the present.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Future clients should spend more time with them and ideally be located close to them so they can iron out ideas better.

**The Review** — May 30, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: The extremely detailed POC has been well-received. Despite the time-zone differences, KindGeek kept the project moving through their consistent communication and responsiveness. They accept constructive input well, but also bring creative ideas of their own to the table at a reasonable value.
""KindGeek pushes us to consider many options and alternatives, never leaving any stone unturned."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m CEO of a company that I formed with two partners. We create solutions in the blockchain space.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We hired KindGeek to do discovery and scoping for a blockchain platform. It will allow individual users to have their own personal blockchain wallet. It will also house their personal data so they can provide it to third parties.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

KindGeek went through the scoping process with us. They created the design and UX for the platform. They produced designs and sketches to serve as a proof of concept (POC). It's bleeding edge technology. We’ll use the POC to validate that the way the data is facilitated, processed, and shared in the blockchain actually works.

The full development of the platform requires larger outside investment. We're working on that now. When we raise those funds, we plan to work with KindGeek to build out the entire platform. Currently they're helping us answer questions from investors.

What is the team composition?

We work closely with Anton (CEO, KindGeek) and Yuri (COO, KindGeek). Roxie (Business Analyst, KindGeek) is our primary project manager. She coordinates the calls with the designers or developers, depending on what we need at any given time. We actually went over to their office in Ukraine for a week, where we probably worked with 20 people.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

We contacted a third-party firm who connected us with potential partners. We interviewed about a dozen firms, both here in the US and abroad, before selecting KindGeek.

How much have you invested with them?

All told, we’ve spent around $23,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

Work started in September 2018 and the engagement is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

KindGeek is fantastic. They were able to get our very abstract concepts drilled down to an extreme level of detail. They did a great job mapping out the way data will flow on the platform. They've delivered as far as our funding allows, and they've delivered exactly what we wanted. KindGeek pushes us to consider many options and alternatives, never leaving any stone unturned.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

Their team is outstanding. There’s never a time where we felt they missed something. They’re super organized, involved, and responsive. There’s a 6–7 hour time difference but they work with our schedule. We do early morning calls before myself and my partners go to our day jobs. I really like how responsive they are. I can email them at any time of the day and they'll write back. One of my partners serves as our technical lead. They use Google Docs and Trello to manage the project, and Jira for issue tracking.

What did you find most impressive about them?

KindGeek’s team are so skilled at what they do. Their people are really bright. I've worked with a lot of development firms and I put them in the top 2–3. They also rank high in their ability to work until they find a solution. There's some uncertainty anytime I work with companies outside the US. They’re excellent in terms of language skills and schedule flexibility. The only difference between working with them and development shops in New York and San Francisco is that KindGeek is much more affordable.

Are there any areas they could improve?

I've shared with them that their estimation of how long tasks will take needs improvement. Parts of the project took longer than they initially anticipated. Some of it was our fault because we didn’t have everything fleshed out before we started.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don't be afraid to let them lead. They have really good ideas and can provide a roadmap of where your project should go. You might know the business scenario but there's always a gap between the concept and the UX. KindGeek has the diligence to make sure that every scenario is planned for.

**Feedback Summary**: They successfully completed the development exactly according to internal requirements. KindGeek has a keen ability to adapt to internal workflows, tools, and changing circumstances. They are a thoughtful, responsive team.
""If there were any issues, they attentively fixed the problem in a timely matter."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I work at Conmigo, a telecommunications company in the pay TV industry. Through advanced AI techniques, we gain a deeper understanding of the content and the viewer, which enables a new experience. The techniques involve extracting entities of interest, tagging and enriching data, and then putting the information into a content library that enables streaming.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We brought on KindGeek to develop the frontend of a SaaS product based on our product definitions.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

KindGeek developed a web frontend for our SaaS solution. The solution allows users to view APIs, which are mainly applications of paid TV providers running on a variety of platforms (e.g. satellite boxes, mobile, PC, or tablet). This evaluation tool allows potential customers to evaluate the Conmigo solution by seeing how it functions.

What is the team composition?

We worked with two developers in total. The first web developer was excellent, but he had to leave due to health issues. KindGeek ensured a smooth transition while bringing on another developer to take his place. He picked up where the other developer left off without any issues.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

We heard about KindGeek through one of our employees.

How much have you invested with them?

We’ve invested between $10,000 and $50,000 with the team.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working together in January 2018, and the engagement ended in May 2019.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I am quite pleased with their work. They accomplished the solution according to our exact requirements.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

If there were any issues, they attentively fixed the problem in a timely matter. They adjusted well to our workflow and our internal project management tools. We used Slack for internal communication and Jira for task planning. The developer felt like a part of our team.

What did you find most impressive about them?

They always sought out additional ways to support internal stakeholders. Since our work week lasts Sunday through Thursday, they were available to help us on Sundays.
Are there any areas they could improve?

I can’t think of anything they could improve on.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I recommend working with KindGeek.

**The Review** — May 13, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: Their designs have received positive feedback from key internal stakeholders. KindGeek inspired confidence throughout the project by communicating clearly from the start about their team's capabilities. Responsiveness and high-quality deliverables contribute to the imminent expansion of their role.
""KindGeek is so solid, and we feel quite comfortable working with them going forward."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Finvoice started four years ago as an online lender. Two years ago, we pivoted into a SaaS company selling loan and factoring software to banks and nonbank lenders.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We have a core product that we sell to smaller clients, mainly nonbank lenders and very small banks. While in the process of responding to an RFP from a large bank, we got advanced to the next stage. That next stage was an eight hour meeting at their headquarters with 30 senior bankers. We realized our core product needed to be ramped up to be more enterprise grade. We needed to add a lot of different features in a short amount of time. We had only three and a half weeks before the actual meeting. It was a bit of a scramble to beef up the product, which is why we needed help.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

After the initial call, KindGeek let us know they don't have the in-house capabilities to actually code our project because we're using a language that's somewhat obsolete. They recommended a specific development shop to do the coding and offered to take responsibility for their work.

KindGeek focuses on UI design. It’s a mix of features such as report generators, workflow management tools, and access definition tools. In addition to creating mockups of screens, they come up with how different flows should work as well as data hierarchies.

What is the team composition?

Initially, we started with a large team. When it became clear that the scope of the project was changing, we shifted our work mainly to Nazar (UI/UX Designer KindGeek). They assigned us a project manager at the start. Their CEO also provided some consulting services.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

Our CTO heard from a friend that KindGeek would be a good fit.

What is the status of this engagement?

Work started in March 2019 and the engagement is ongoing. They're not actively doing any work, but we told them we want to continue working with them once we further develop our roadmap.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

We don't know yet if we won the RFP process. What we do know is we'd stand much less of a chance without KindGeek. We didn't have the time to expand the product the way that they did. We basically went from no chance to win to actually have a chance. Internally, we’re pleased with their designs. The quality of the work is high. In the beginning, I checked everything extensively. By the end, I could trust them to always deliver quality designs.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

Their project manager didn't have much to do because we only worked directly with one designer. Nazar was quite useful in managing the other development shop that they recommended. He helped get them up to speed. Because that shop is based in Ukraine, he answered a lot of their questions so I didn’t have to deal with the time difference. We had weekly calls and used Slack for basic conversations. We used Asana for specific tasks and used Google Docs or Google Sheets to manage timelines and documentation.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The CEO's willingness to provide free consultation was great. He’s really responsive and has a lot of experience in technology. He recommended what we should do in the future and what languages we should use. Their honesty is also impressive. I'm sure many companies would take the money for the coding work even if they didn't have the right expertise. KindGeek was upfront about not being able to provide the quality we needed in our particular language. It was very professional that they offered to take responsibility for the quality of the other shop’s work. The biggest thing with working with external development shops is whether you can trust their motivations. KindGeek is so solid, and we feel quite comfortable working with them going forward.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Don’t underestimate the amount of ramp-up time an external development shop needs. Be granular in how you describe tasks and specific features of your build. Otherwise, you'll get something back that you probably don't want that. Focus on details up front and it will go smoothly.

**The Review** — Apr 9, 2019

**Feedback Summary**: KindGeek’s backend developers have made steady progress toward achieving objectives, but the frontend developers occasionally need more direction. The team has a sufficient understanding of the required technology, but reasonable testing practices sometimes go by the wayside.
""We have tasks go back and forth a couple of times before they get it right."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I am the CEO of a technology startup.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

I engaged KindGeek to develop an updated version of my company’s web application.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

It’s my goal to have the new application mimic its predecessor in terms of UI as well as possible. To accomplish this, I write the specifications and rely on KindGeek’s team to write the code. The application’s frontend utilizes JavaScript and React, and the backend features Java Spring Boot and MariaDB.

What is the team composition?

In addition to a team coordinator, I generally work with one frontend developer and one backend developer.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

I learned of KindGeek through an organization’s website that lists similar vendors in Ukraine. I reviewed a few different companies, but KindGeek offered the best price and fostered the best initial connection.

How much have you invested with them?

I’ve spent about $4,000 each month, so close to $20,000 total so far.

What is the status of this engagement?

We began working in December 2018, and the project is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

To this point, I’ve seen greater progress from the backend developers. The frontend staffer sticks to the script but doesn’t exhibit much creativity. I have to be very direct in what to do and how to do it. In my experience, this problem is not specific to KindGeek, but the frontend developers tend to understand the technologies yet offer little on the creative side, so there’s a fair amount of hand-holding.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

I’m in direct daily contact with the developers. We have an efficient system that allows me to test the product and provide feedback for them to implement. For a while, when they dedicated more resources to the project, we held weekly meetings.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I’ve worked with several similar companies, so this is not specific to KindGeek, but all of the firms I’ve worked with run together and are rather generic. Finding a differentiator is tough. The senior members of the team have a good understanding of the technology, but the junior members need some guidance.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The team should grow to recognize that they must test the code before it is delivered. And when it comes to the UI/UX, some of my directions in GitLab go unheard. We have tasks go back and forth a couple of times before they get it right.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

I would insist on a project leader of some sort to hold the developers accountable, and I would recommend a thorough vetting process of a UX/UI developer.

"“We’re extremely satisfied.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the co-founder of a startup with a digital peer-to-peer marketplace.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We needed a production partner to develop the software for our project.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

KindGeek developed our web platform from scratch in React, building the frontend and the creating the backend logic. The platform that allows users to create profiles for clients to book personal shopping trips with them. There’s a calendar function to view availability and Stripe is integrated for automatic payments.

They started with the discovery phase, listening to our needs and coming up with suggestions for how to shape our idea into a compelling product. Following that initial phase, we started analyzing features. We went live in October. We’re still fixing bugs, continuously improving features, and updating, but the platform is up and running.

What is the team composition?

Our main contract at the beginning was the CEO. Then we worked with a full-time business analyst. We had a time-and-materials contract so our teams were composed on-demand when we needed specific resources rather than having a dedicated team. At peak times we worked with two frontend developers, two backend developers, a Q&A person, and a lead architect.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

We were looking for a partner in Ukraine since we’d heard that there were competent options there with attractive pricing. We did some internet research and found KindGeek. We set up a call with the CEO and browsed the sites of their clients. We spotted a Swiss startup they had worked with and asked them for a reference. We only heard positive feedback so decided to give them a try. We used the discovery phase as a test and they convinced us.

We had looked at a handful of other companies. We initially spent a couple of months working with an Indian company, which didn’t work out. We also compared some Swiss development partners that were closer in proximity to us. However, in terms of the quality and the price, KindGeek outperformed all of those.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from March to October 2018.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

I primarily have qualitative feedback on the UI and UX of our website. We hear positive feedback from early users that the design is appealing and they find the platform intuitive and straightforward. We’re extremely satisfied.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

We communicate via Slack and have calls through Google Hangouts. We use Jira as well as Sketch for design.

Our deadline had been set from the beginning as we had an important pitch event here in Switzerland for which we promised to have our product ready. They managed to meet that. They follow up on tasks and complete them with precision.

Our business analyst was outstanding in terms of communications and punctuality. Without her, I'm not sure we would be where we are today. Project management was really the best part of our experience. This was thanks primarily to our business analyst but my experience when I visited them confirmed their commitment and reliability to me.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The overall atmosphere when I visited was very welcoming. I could be sure that the people I met were the ones working on our project. That gave me a good feeling in the sense that I knew what was happening and what I was spending my money on.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We had a very limited budget and, in the beginning, it was hard to agree on the cost estimate with them for the exact scope that we could squeeze into that budget. Since then, they’ve managed well and we’ve stayed on track with the budget. It took us a while to define what was in and what was out in terms of features, but the final cost estimate was precise and we haven’t overspent or underspent.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

One of the most important things for me was spending a week at their office. I like to know the people that I work with. Our level of collaboration was heightened afterward because we talked to each other, we knew each other and we understood each other. I highly recommend making a visit.

**Feedback Summary**: The platform worked flawlessly and attracted many visitors and sales. Since KindGeek delivered ahead of schedule, they could fine-tune the product and add advanced features. Their broad knowledge, attention to detail, and commitment to excellent customer service set them apart.
""They didn't just provide a paid service; they also helped our product and company grow."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I'm the former project manager of a mattress startup.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We were a young startup trying to bring our product to market quickly and efficiently. We needed to develop the online website and a customized product configurator.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Our website focused on customized mattresses based on the idea that one size doesn't fit all. Our team created a special questionnaire that asked the right amount of questions to help customers pick the mattress they needed. KindGeek helped us create and customize the web platform's design and user experience, and set up our inventory management using Magento.

Initially, we shared some basic files with them as rough sketches for the platform, and they came up with different design options. This allowed us to test the waters and see whether they fully understood our request. We liked all the options they provided and chose one as the prototype.

What is the team composition?

Five people worked on the platform, including a project manager, requirements engineer, developers, and designers. Additionally, we were in touch with three managers.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

A friend recommended them. We considered many companies before KindGeek. They impressed me because they prepared a professional proposal in an extremely short time.

How much have you invested in them?

We invested around $20,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We worked together from August to December 2016.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The most important thing was launching everything properly and quickly. They did this earlier than we expected, which allowed us to spend the last months polishing the product and adding features. Having everything work was crucial to bringing in online sales. Everything worked better than we expected, and we attracted many new customers.

We were happy with the depth at which they understood the project, their attention to detail, and their commitment to providing the best possible experience.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

Project management was one of their strong points. I mostly contacted one of their stakeholders and the project manager, and was happy with both interactions. They were flexible about communication tools, letting me choose the most convenient ones. We used Facebook messenger, Skype, and phone calls.

What did you find most impressive about them?

The team was helpful and positive. They went beyond the contract and truly wanted us to succeed. It was inspiring to see that they cared about us more than they were obliged to. Everything went smoothly and comfortably. It was extraordinary.

Our experience with KindGeek was mainly good because of their culture. They didn't just provide a paid service; they also helped our product and company grow. We got additional value from their knowledge and experience. It was a win-win situation.

Do you have any advice for potential customers?

Contact them and discuss the project to form your own opinion. You'll see who they are and how they approach customers.

**The Review** — Jul 17, 2018

**Feedback Summary**: KindGeek delivered on time, and the site has garnered positive feedback from both the end client and users. The team was professional in interacting with the end client directly and effectively managed change requests. The leadership team went above and beyond to ensure the success of the project.
"“They’ve built a well-supported team that balances quality of work with excellent project management.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I work for a software development company that primarily works with US-based clients in industries such as education, healthcare, and marketing.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We were facing a very tight deadline in completing a complex project for an end client in the education space last summer. We needed a well-built solution that included not only content, but also several more complex features like location-specific search functionality. To meet the deadline, we decided to hire a team that could help us with development while taking a professional approach to interfacing with the client directly.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

KindGeek was instrumental in the process of building a frontend solution that met all requirements, while the end client provided us with the backend infrastructure to complete the website. The frontend was primarily based in Angular 4 and related CSS. Key features included integrations with server-side APIs provided by the client that pushed updated content for display on the site, as well as integrations with several other third-party services for features like registration and sign-off. We also needed to provide some functionality around exporting data, and they built the frontend for that integration as well.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a project manager and about four developers throughout the project. We also worked with a project manager assistant when necessary.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

I was referred to them by one of my clients who had worked with them previously.

How much have you invested with them?

We invested approximately $50,000 on the project.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working together in July 2017, and development was complete in March 2018.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The site was launched successfully within the required timelines. According to the client, the project was well-received by staff and successfully facilitates the enrollment process.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

They were very professional in meetings with the client. They were able to follow up and manage all tasks to not only finish on time, but also to keep the project organized. The team communicated clearly throughout the engagement.

The team did their absolute best to accommodate last-minute changes on the client side while still working within the original timeline. They also communicated in advance about any employee absences or changes to resource allocation. We used Slack, Jira, and Bitbucket to support collaboration and development efforts.

What did you find most impressive about them?

KindGeek is an extremely professional team. They’ve built a well-supported team that balances quality of work with excellent project management. They worked with our client very productively. As opposed to many other firms in the software development industry, KindGeek looks at the bigger picture in their projects. This includes attention to delivery times, quality control, and their overall relationship with the client, rather than simply looking to turn around assignments.

Also, the management team at KindGeek is extremely committed. They were willing to communicate and work with me after hours, and they were dedicated to seeing the project completed successfully. The company is run by people that really care about their work, and we would certainly consider working with them again on future projects.

Are there any areas they could improve?

The only challenges we faced came up on the client side. Things naturally get complicated when there are rapid incoming change requests, but they did all they could to stay on top of those requests. Overall, they have a very strong team.

Any advice for potential customers?

Make sure to communicate in advance the exact time requirements that you need availability from the development team. This project’s success was partially due to setting expectations in the very beginning. Clarify project requirements and get an idea of who you’ll be working with before starting the engagement.

"“They work well with startup companies.”
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

I’m the founder and CEO of an IT firm. We’re developing a sales automation platform for real estate developers.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We needed a software development company to improve the machine learning aspect of our platform. The technology would help us predict what properties would most interest clients.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

KindGeek helped create our AngularJS web application by working on the matching mechanism within our Python-based machine learning engine. Together, we applied a distant supervision approach to analyze data sets of properties and people. We used another component to categorize them simultaneously. This methodology was part of KingGeek’s original proposal. They also set up in-app analytics to measure the value of different components.

This project took 4–5 months to complete. However, they continually support and improve the platform as it evolves. Their team is proactively involved in the development process. If something doesn’t work as expected, they respond to user feedback and make the necessary changes.

What is the team composition?

We worked with a team that included their CEO, a project manager, a team lead, a business analyst, and three developers. They later allocated two developers to work with us on an ongoing basis.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

They were referred to us by a colleague. He was satisfied with KindGeek’s work and made the introduction. The founders of KindGeek helped us figure out the process and ensured that everything would go smoothly. We assigned each person a role and started development as soon as possible.

How much have you invested with them?

The initial project cost around $140,000–$150,000. They currently charge us an hourly rate as they perform tasks. The total cost is usually between $5,000 and $10,000 per month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with KindGeek in July 2017. The main project was completed in October 2017, but they’re continuing to develop the platform as we have future releases scheduled.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?

The machine learning functionally they built out is our platform’s main feature. Our profits have improved significantly since the original engagement with them. I can’t estimate the precise impact of KindGeek’s work, but it’s served as the basis of our product and is responsible for the biggest part of our revenue stream.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

Our assigned project manager stayed in touch with us the whole time. Anton (CEO, KindGeek) and Yurii (Full-stack Developer, KindGeek) followed up with us frequently to ask if everything was okay. Despite being located in Ukraine, they attended our daily scrum meetings and rarely missed deadlines. If they deliver something late, it’s usually because we changed the project at the last minute. We had a shared Jira account and used Bitbucket as a repository. Some of their team leads and project managers were also invited to our Slack channel.

What did you find most impressive about them?

I had some initial concerns about whether this collaboration was the best decision for our company. My team worried that giving the project to an outsourcing company might jeopardize the work they’ve done. We needed a dedicated development team that would be passionate about our project. Luckily, the KindGeek team fit that description. We felt like they were an extension of our team.

Are there any areas they could improve?

We’ve needed to make some changes, but that was our problem. We’re continuing to work with them, so I don’t have any significant suggestions.

Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?

They work well with startup companies. No matter the situation, it’s important for clients to fully understand what needs to be achieved when starting a project.

**The Review** — Jul 7, 2017

**Feedback Summary**: KindGeek is thorough and thoughtful. They’re a transparent and fair team that handles challenges well. Though they rushed some parts of the project, the end product was satisfactory. They’ve overall delivered exactly what was promised, and they’re enthusiastic and responsive.
""That’s what has really impressed me—they’re very open and very honest.""

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

We’re a startup app business. I’m one of the 2 founders. I’m a digital entrepreneur; my background is in digital consulting, project management, and product development. My partner’s an accountant by background and he takes care of the commercial side. Then we have 2 other members of the team: a marketing person and a lawyer.

Our business is similar to TaskRabbit. It’s about finding people to do jobs. Whereas TaskRabbit is very specific about tasks, we’re more like a temporary labor worker. It’s more about finding temporary workers for longer-term projects. It might be a week or 2-week contract, and it’s all typically unskilled work. There’s a lot of seasonal work here: agriculture work, event work, students out looking for holiday work digging ditches. It’s just connecting people who need to get stuff done with people who are available and looking to earn some money doing a job or two.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

KindGeek is our development partner. We brought them in to manage the software development side. I take care of managing the overall platform relationship with Google, Facebook, and Firebase, etc. Kind Geek is our integrated development partner, so they do all the technical integration and all these different elements. That’s Android development, iOS development, and the backend integration side.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

We have an iOS app and an Android app along with the platform that runs those apps. Within that platform, they developed a database. What we’re doing is building a database of people that are available to do work in a geographical location so that you can do a geographical search for people in your area that are available to do work. It’s a 2-minute job to complete a profile, including the location, kind of work they’ve had to do, their age range, a few notes about themselves, and any qualifications they have, and then it’s in our database waiting for clients to pick them out.

If they find a grafter, clients can then offer them work. The grafter says yes, and they go through a simple contract to agree to basic terms about how much they get paid per hour, where the work is, etc. At that point, the user goes off-platform. They do the work successfully and come back to the platform. We run Stripe Connect, which is a marketplace payment system, for the client to pay the grafter using the platform, and they also pay a fee for using the platform. That whole payment system is a quite complicated implementation of Stripe. The grafter gets paid and then at the end of that, there’s a ratings and review system. There’s a whole journey around that. You have a dashboard where you can manage your work or manage your jobs. There are alerts and push notifications that the app manages.

KindGeek was totally responsible for developing the platform. I’m not a technical person and neither is anyone else on our team. I did provide some basic wireframes because I’ve got some experience in doing that. But I think they would have just as happily done it a different way. It was a basic prototyping tool and a description of what I wanted to happen, about 30 pages. We then went through a UX process with the KindGeek UX team, and they implemented more details using these flows and designs. They took my basic concept and turned it into a proper set of user experience designs. They offered marketing services, but we do that ourselves.

How many resources were assigned to your project?

It changes over time, but generally speaking, we had a project manager, a business analyst, an iOS developer, an Android developer, a backend developer, a QA tester, and dev ops. At different times, we’ve had 1-2 of those roles involved in the project at different stages.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

I ran an RFP process. I selected 5 people based on desk research and sent them a brief specification. I used to run a business like KindGeek in the U.K. which I sold a few years ago, so I’m quite an educated buyer in this process. I found KindGeek on Clutch. I decided that I wanted to put this development into Eastern Europe. The U.K. is very expensive and all the good developers work for Facebook and Google or the banks. The banks pay ridiculous money for developers. It’s very hard to get good developers for a good price in London. I’ve worked with India, South Africa, and other offshore places before and, culturally, it was very, very difficult. So, I was focused on Eastern Europe. I put it out the RFP to 5 different companies and narrowed it down quite quickly to 3 that were interested and the most engaging. Then, of those 3, KindGeek’s proposal was just way better than everyone else’s. They wrote what I would have written when I was doing a proposal for my clients, which was a 20-page PowerPoint of what they thought of our product. They gave ideas of how to make it better. They informed us of their processes and what kind of team they would provide. They told us their pricing model and covered a whole range of things. By comparison, one of the other agencies provided me with a 1-pager that just had a big number for the price with no detail. The third response was somewhere in between. It was an okay proposal, but it was 5 pages and lacking in detail. I was very impressed with KindGeek. They were keen and they responded to the RFP properly, and they made the effort to put together a good response. They thought it through, spent the time to think about what we needed, and came up with a really good proposal.

How much have you invested with KindGeek?

We have spent £50,000 ($70,000) with them so far. Phase 2 will be about £20,000 over the next couple of months.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with them January 2017. We’re very happy with their work so we continue to use them.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

We launched the apps about 3 weeks ago and we have 1,300 users so far. User feedback has generally been good, but we know there are things we compromised on in the first phase, so it’s still a work in progress. It’s not a finished product; it’s very much an MVP. We know there are failings in there that we decided to accept in order to launch quicker. We’ve got another 2 iterations coming over the next month or so, and I think once we get to the end of that, then we’ll be happy with where the product will be. It’s no reflection of KindGeek. It’s a reflection of where we’ve chosen to compromise.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

They’re very agile and very lean, and I like that because I’m paying for their time. They don’t try to load the project with additional costs. They do what they need to do to get it done, so that’s the right level of engagement. The thing I like most about them so far is that, in any project like this, it’s inevitable that things go wrong. What it’s about is how you handle it when things go wrong. They’ve been excellent at dealing with things that have gone wrong. That’s what has really impressed me—they’re very open and very honest. They don’t try to hide things when they go wrong and they make sure they compensate us for any errors that their team makes by rectifying that in cost.

What did you find most impressive about KindGeek?

They worked long hours. They’re enthusiastic. They’re very responsive—they respond 24 hours a day. As much as I’m online, they’re online. So far, we’re very happy.

Are there any areas KindGeek could improve?

The biggest problem we had was that the iOS developer, halfway through the project, was in a car crash, so we had to change the iOS developer which is very difficult. But there wasn’t much they could do about that. They really struggled with one element of the finance implementation and I don’t think they read the documentation well enough. I think they were just trying to get it done without actually spending some time to read the documentation. That was minor really. It just took a little bit longer to sort it out by me having to get a bit more involved in pointing out what they needed to do.

""Our manager from KindGeek was a great mind to work with. While working on the app, he was able to point out many of the things that we were doing wrong."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

YouCapital has developed a business app for investors and companies. youcapital.com shows a video overview of our app's functionality. We're based in London. I am the Chief Executive Officer of the company.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We started off with a business plan and basic wireframes developed in-house and took the actual development to KindGeek.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

KindGeek was responsible for all of our development work for the iOS and Android versions of the app. We have worked with a team of 6 people initially and have reduced that number to 4. The owner of KindGeek checks in on us from time to time, which is one of the main reasons I like them. We also have a London-based team working purely on design. KindGeek has also started taking part in the design for our app.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

I interviewed around 12 companies in the Ukraine when I visited the country. I took my time, made another trip, and had second interviews with some candidates, whittling the decision down to 2 companies, including KindGeek. I chose them because of the major element of trust which came from KindGeek's CEO. He personally came out to the meetings and talked to me directly.

How much have you invested with KindGeek?

The total cost of our project with KindGeek has been around $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We started working with KindGeek in July 2016. Our app was completed just today, and we're planning to launch it in a week's time. There is still some testing to be done, and we plan to use KindGeek on an ongoing basis for backend support.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Our manager from KindGeek was a great mind to work with. While working on the app, he was able to point out many of the things that we were doing wrong. There were useless functionalities which killed the user experience. KindGeek talked to us directly and made suggestions on how to improve this. I found this to be fantastic, and it led to much of the rubbish around our app being eliminated. I didn't ask KindGeek to do this, but they simply felt that what we were doing was wrong for the application, and had the guts to tell this to us.

We're a new company, and our relationship with KindGeek needed to be based on trust. From the beginning, we found their team to be very professional and efficient. We were able to email KindGeek at 7 or 8 in the evening on UK time, and received instant responses, even though KindGeek is 2 hours ahead.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

We were only 5-6 days overschedule, which was mostly due to our designers changing the work. Every time we did this, the coders from KindGeek also had to change what they were doing.

I have flown to KindGeek's headquarters in Ukraine and worked with them face-to-face quite a lot. KindGeek's team are time people, with a strict focus on this aspect. I tend to think outside of the box, and I'm more of an entrepreneurial person, so I don't work very efficiently. KindGeek nailed me down and implemented a militarized regiment. Sticking to the schedule was more important for them than it was for me. I was happy with only being 5 days overschedule, but not KindGeek.

We used Slack for communication. I'm not a technically-minded person, so I left the task management for my team in London. KindGeek's project manager was a very practical and efficient person. We tend to have a relaxed attitude in our company, but there was no joking around when it came to getting the job done.

What did you find most impressive about KindGeek?

KindGeek is a very well-organized and efficient team. I have visited their offices; in the staff room, there is a very laid-back atmosphere with pool tables and playful attitudes. Once KindGeek got into the work, they seemed to be heads-down. I was impressed with the number of hours that they worked. KindGeek's team came in early, left late, and were very much focused on getting the job done as quickly as possible. KindGeek's management made an effort to discuss every aspect of our work, keeping everything open and clear.

Are there any areas KindGeek could improve?

If KindGeek moved to London, it would be helpful, but I can't really think of anything.

What tips or recommendations could you share that might increase the likelihood of success with KindGeek?

I would advise any client to get on a plane and meet the team personally.

**Feedback Summary**: KindGeek’s work has positioned the website to be able to scale quickly, generating 3,000 sign-ups, 250 users with closed data, and positive feedback on its design. The team is hands-on and engaged with a good work ethic. They are forward-thinking and eager to share their knowledge.
""KindGeek has up-scaled and educated me in aspects of the website that we need to understand more."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

We are a betting platform that allows players to compete in singles matches and singles tournaments for cash and rewards. I am the Chief Executive Officer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We needed extra development help for our platform.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

They're dealing with all our web development, frontend, backend, and UI/UX [user interface/user experience] design. They've redesigned the website. We had some beta testing over a month ago now, and there were just a few small things we had to do to close it off. We took all the customer input on board and got them to implement all the feedback we had received. I think the website now is a lot more automated.

We're using AutoPay as our payment system operator, which wouldn't be just a simple lift-and-drop code. There was a lot of work to integrate a system like AutoPay. We also integrated with Twitch streaming service; they have open APIs available as well, and the KindGeek guys were able to pull down from that and embed a streaming video on the website. Before, there were no APIs or integrations. Obviously, we're using PHP coding framework with Laravel, and using the Percona database. All of these are built openly. As we go to scale, we're positioned to scale up quickly.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

KindGeek had a bit of background in games development. I reached out to 20 or 30 people and got proposals. From a lot of the back and forth I had with KindGeek, it just made sense. I think they were ahead of the pack in terms of cost and estimated delivery dates. I thought it was a good fit.

How much have you invested with KindGeek?

We have spent between $20,000 and $30,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

We're still working with them, so we haven't finished our relationship just yet.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any evidence that would demonstrate the productivity, quality of work, or the impact of the engagement?

Not really. The guys designed the landing page for us to get sign-ups, and we've gotten 3,000 people signed up on that. That's pretty large. People want to use it before we've even released it. We had 250 people on the website with closed data, and we got that feedback. They said the design looked great.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

We have a close relationship with Oleg. We have regular calls to check in to make sure everything's okay. Oleg is the stack developer in the Ukraine. He's a hard worker, always working late when stuff has to get done. He has no problem coming in on the weekend to give us a dig out. There's a very good work ethic among them. Anton and Oleg [principals of KindGeek] have been very hands-on, but they did leave it to the project managers. Oleg is always checking in to make sure the project is all right. He's always prepping for the additional needs we have for outside web development.

What did you find most impressive about KindGeek?

It was the first web development experience that I've had here in Ireland. It was a less hands-on approach. I think KindGeek has up-scaled and educated me in some aspects of the website that we need to understand a bit more, like the ins and outs of how we're going to scale it, and why we're choosing the frameworks we're using. KindGeek has educated me in the journey and the forward-looking aspects of what we need to do with the website. They’ve also constantly stayed in touch with me. If certain things are delayed, they've always been good about getting in touch to relay the reasons why that’s happened.

Are there any areas KindGeek could improve?

The design at the start had something missing, and I think that was probably on our end. We didn't fully know what we wanted. As it progressed and went on, as any project progresses, you always want to change or move things around.

**The Review** — Jul 25, 2016

**Feedback Summary**: KindGeek is a large, talented team that is capable of providing a wide range of services and quickly replacing personnel. They offer daily communication and regular updates, even on weekends. The team is professional, delivers high quality work on time, and is engaged in problem-solving.
""I appreciate that KindGeek cares about their clients' satisfaction."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

We develop applications and websites. My project with KindGeek involved developing a digital library as an application. The library contains books for children that they can read and listen to.

I am the digital lead.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We wanted to build something that has never been built before. We were looking to build an application that presents EPUB [e-book file format extension] files in a very advanced way. Nobody has ever combined audio with an EPUB file in an app before.

We wanted to build an application that's user-friendly -  we wanted children to be able to open the library and choose a book they like. Once they read the book, they can take a quick quiz and get a score. We partnered with KindGeek to get this done.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

KindGeek helped with the concept, design, development, and maintenance of the app. They are working hard with me to get the vision I have to make it possible and to make it a reality. It's a mobile app for Android and iOS. In the future, we'll have all the platforms. Right now, we are just starting with mobile.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

I found them through Clutch. I contacted all the companies that I found on your website from Eastern Europe because I know they're talented, and they have reasonable costs. Out of 10 companies, I chose them because I felt they were professional. They have a big team that can provide the services that we needed. If someone is absent, they will have somebody to replace right away, and that's important for me.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

It cost between $10,000 and $50,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

It's an ongoing project. We completed the first phase, and we'll keep working. There are many features to be added. We'll still be working another six months.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

The app is about to launch in two to three weeks. KindGeek did a good job. The cost estimate may be is the only thing that I was hoping to match. That's the only thing they didn't match my expectation, but everything else was fine.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

It was very good. KindGeek has a project manager assigned to me to work with on a daily basis. He updated me even on weekends. They're a good company. They have a good team, and the project manager working with me is good.

What distinguishes KindGeek from other providers?

I appreciate that KindGeek cares about their clients' satisfaction. Beyond being professional and delivering work, KindGeek has been very good at communicating with me and problem solving.

Is there anything KindGeek could have improved or done differently?

It would be the cost estimation. It ended up costing more than we had anticipated, but we were able to work it out.

**The Review** — Jul 18, 2016

**Feedback Summary**: The automated controls designed by KindGeek serve as the foundation for the business model and allow for better growth capacity. The team has a solid basic structure and sources a wide range of individuals with different talents. They are polite, knowledgeable, and pleasant to work with.
""I'm really pleased with the way KindGeek was able to source and provide the right people with the right skills."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

Got Produce? is a hydroponic greenhouse design and installation company.

What is your position?

I am the founder and CEO.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

The value add of our business is in providing automated control systems that operate the greenhouse, both on the ground and remotely. The reason I came in touch with KindGeek was to get them to help us in cloud-based projects, in IoT [Internet of Things], and the control system and [upright] servers, so we could offer that as a value-add to our product range.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

KindGeek provides a range of services for us. They created a cloud database for us, and then they created [environment] sensors and actual control system, which acts like a small computer. They control irrigation and some other things. They set up and did the programming and assembly of the control system. They did design and assembly of wireless sensors. Traditionally, we [moved] from a wired version, or Internet tether version, to a wireless version. They did all the database and UI [user interface] work.

In the beginning, the database was just a MySQL database. I think that the computer serves the system that runs the irrigation controller.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

I was looking to outsource this work. Because it involved [design] work, physical assembly of parts, creative thinking, and all these things, it didn't fall under the kind of engineers that we would normally use. I [contacted] different places and two or three different groups when we outsourced this. After talking to Anton [Skrypnyk, CEO at KindGeek], I really felt KindGeek was the right place to go.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

It was probably between $10,000 and $50,000. That's a lot of R&D [research and development] and we plan to continue with them to continue development of the product designs once we have passed the R&D stage.

What is the timeline of this engagement?

We've been working with them almost a year, since August of last year [2015].

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

Our business model is built around these automated controls, so without having automated controls, it knocks the legs out from under our business model. They provided that for us so it allowed us to continue advertising and doing the value add. [What it amounts to is we] would not have the capacity to grow at all. With their help, we have the capacity to be 10 times what we are.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

They have multiple people, all with different talents, which is fantastic. That's one of the reasons I chose KindGeek. I think that they have a good basic structure going through an analysis of what the project needed, to get the talent for the project that you need. I'm really pleased with the way KindGeek was able to source and provide the right people with the right skills that we needed.

What distinguishes KindGeek from other providers?

I've enjoyed working with them and I can't quantify that. If you're going to have a partner that you're working with long term, I think it helps to have personalities aligned and visions aligned. They're polite and they're knowledgeable – just a good group of people and nice to work with.

Is there anything KindGeek could have improved or done differently?

The only thing I would say is in hindsight, having better access to the online project management, like a tracking tool. They did provide some [analysis] and, whenever I asked for breakdowns, they did provide it. It would be nice just to have continuous online access to tracking.

**Feedback Summary**: KindGeek’s work has facilitated a high-level sales negotiation with the client’s largest customer to date. They adapted well to existing systems, are engaged in process improvement, and employ efficient, structured project management. They provide personal attention and serve as true team members.
""My favorite thing about KindGeek is that they’re not afraid to give feedback and discuss ways of improving processes."

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Our company is Datasembly. We work with CPGs [consumer packaged goods], specifically food manufacturers to help them understand how their products are performing on the shelf, what they’re being priced, when they’re being put on promotion, for how much they’re being put on promotion, and especially in comparison to what their competitors are doing in terms of pricing and promotion strategy.

I am the Chief Technology Officer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

With KindGeek, we really just needed developers to help us build out our data collection platform, and that was the original impetus for bringing them on. We work with a lot of pricing data from across the country, so bringing them on was to help us collect all this data and manage it. Now they’re our full-time general purpose developers. They work on all sorts of things that we need them to do, some data-related, some user interface-related, some still data collection-related.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

Our platform collects hundreds of millions of pricing records from the web every day. What they’ve worked on specifically is helping to improve that data collection platform. They’ve helped write our back-end, which is a pipeline for collecting and processing this data. KindGeek wrote two very important parts of our pipeline, which is product matching. That is, if we get a product from one store that doesn’t have a UPC [Universal Product Code], how do we match it to the same product from another store that doesn’t have a UPC? This involved natural language processing, it involves text analysis, and it involves a large scale search problem. He actually worked on developing that core component of our technology.

Then, he also worked on helping develop another core component, which is brand extraction. Given a string of text that’s about a product, how do we tell who manufactured this product? What is the brand that this product is being sold as? Is it Cheerios? Is it a Hershey’s Kiss? How do we attribute this back to the manufacturer and their product line?

We work almost entirely in Scala. We used Akka for a lot our distributed systems and concurrency work. We use RedShift, the Amazon Web Services database, for a lot of the data storage and aggregations, and we also use RethinkDB for our real-time data collection.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

We started at the 500 Startups Accelerator Program, which is out in California. We started there last July, and when they published the list of all the companies that are working at the Accelerator, we just got inundated with requests from different development shops that wanted to work with us. I spent a week just interviewing different shops, talking to people there, and we ended up hiring three different agenciens with the idea that we would choose the best one. One in the US, one in Ukraine, which is KindGeek, and one in Poland. After working with all of them for about a month or two, we decided that we liked KindGeek best.

How much have you invested with KindGeek?

It’s about $10,000 a month. We actually scaled up our work. We started out at about $6,000 a month, and now we’re up to about $10,000 a month.

What is the status of this engagement?

We’ve been working with them for 10 months now.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any results of this project?

There’s nothing really I can publically talk about yet, but I will say that we’ve been in a sales process with General Mills for about six months now, and a lot of KindGeek's work has made that sales process possible. Now we’re actually negotiating final terms of a deal with them. They would be our largest customer to date, and we couldn’t have done it without KindGeek.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

They’ve been great. KindGeek came to work with us full-time immediately, so they adapted to the systems that we were using. Actually, my favorite thing about KindGeek is that they’re not afraid to give feedback and discuss ways of improving processes. When we started with them, we didn’t really have much in the way of project management; we were just flying by the seat of our pants. Now we’re using Blossom, which was chosen by KindGeek to manage our tasks. It’s been a real pleasure working with them in terms of project management.

What did you find most impressive about KindGeek?

They’re great to work with. One thing I really appreciate is their personalities. The Chief Executive Officer of KindGeek was in the US, and he made it a real point to meet up with us. We had coffee and a great conversation with him. He was here in the United States to get more clients; he didn’t necessarily have to meet up with us. We really appreciated that. I had a great time talking with him. Both the developers we work with now are very communicative. They’re fun people to work with. They’re not just taking orders and doing things. It’s all discussion; we talk about personal stuff. It’s really like they’re part of the team.

Are there any areas KindGeek could improve?

The language barrier has been difficult at times, and it would’ve been nice if KindGeek, which largely works with US companies, had better processes in place to make communication easier.

**The Review** — Jul 15, 2016

**Feedback Summary**: The app serves as the flagship product of the company. KindGeek provided direct communication and efficient project management, often completing deliverables ahead of schedule. They were straightforward, open to ideas, and proactive in thinking ahead and identifying issues.
""They went the extra mile."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

We created a new app for last-minute flights in Europe.

What is your position?

I am a cofounder.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

When we started developing this whole app, we used a different agency to develop the app, but their work was not good enough. Then, I found a different agency that will take care of the back-end, and I reached out to KindGeek to take care of the front-end. The goals and the specifications were already made before that. They just had to find a way to continue what the last agency did.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

The front-end was actually Android. We developed an MVP [minimum viable product] that was based only on Android. I was in direct contact with one of their developers, Christina, and she was working mainly with me and with the back-end developer guy. In the beginning, what she received from the previous development company was a bit chaotic. I knew that – this was the feedback that I got from the different agencies – that they didn't do a good job. It took her a little bit of time to understand what was going on in the code, but she did it fast. Then, we continued working on the daily stuff to make the app work.

What I requested from them is just to develop the app and put it in the Play Store. She gave me a bit of support because everything was a little bit new to me with the Play Store.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

We're a self-financed startup. We were practically bootstrapping. We were looking for cheap solutions in Eastern Europe. A friend of a friend recommended a different agency from Ukraine. I read different reviews, and then I made a list of potential agencies in Ukraine. I just had a call and talked with KindGeek's team.

Could you provide a sense of the size of this initiative in financial terms?

It cost less than $10,000.

What is the status of this engagement?

What we were setting up as a goal was completed – it was the MVP. Now, we're focused on the marketing side and eventually developing a companion iOS app.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

The app is the product of our company. Even if I got feedback on the app, I think it's got nothing to do with the work that KindGeek did because they did exactly what I asked them to do. At first, they did the design with the designer, and we designed how the app is going to work and did the flow, and then they just executed it. Let's say that there was a problem with the fact that on the first page when the app is offline, then you don't see any example how the app looks like when it's online. Can you relate it directly to KindGeek? I don't know.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

With other agencies, the idea is that you have a project manager who is your point of contact and then he's talking to the developers. Since I'm coming from a technological background, I was talking directly to the developer, Christina. We simply had an Excel sheet where we were both updating each other. She was always on time, even faster than what I was expecting or what we estimated together, and always with full communication, which was one of the most important things for me. If there was a problem, she knew when to raise it and how to raise it and ask the questions and, if not, she was just running through the tasks. From that point of view, that was 10 out of 10.

What distinguishes KindGeek from other providers?

That's hard for me to say. I was working with Christina. For me, KindGeek is Christina. She was thinking about further problems and further issues that I might have that I missed, and that was pretty good. Most programmers in Eastern Europe – they don't care. They will do what you ask, and that's it. KindGeek were straightforward, fast and open to my ideas. They went the extra mile.

Is there anything KindGeek could have improved or done differently?

No. I have no complaints. It was a relatively short and small project, so nothing to improve on my side.

**Feedback Summary**: KindGeek performs well within the existing agile-based project management framework. They are a young and modern company and easy to communicate with. Although they experience the occasional challenge of rapid growth, the team actively works on constant improvement.
""KindGeek knows what it takes to make a startup succeed."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Introduce your business and what you do there.

Letter Collect is a new start-up in Berlin that runs a couple of services for schoolteachers and works as a marketplace for teaching materials.

I’m the Chief Technology Officer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We partnered with KindGeek to help us with the technical implementation of the marketplace.

**SOLUTION**
What was the scope of their involvement?

The product is a marketplace. You might think about it as an Etsy or eBay for schoolteachers. It is a marketplace where schoolteachers can sell or buy digital materials from the other teachers, those preparations which they make for their lessons: homework, worksheets, tests, and things like that.

KindGeek mainly provides platform development services. They are providing me with consultants who are working under my direct supervision. They are working as a shell company and as a hosting company. It is basic development in open source technologies. We use Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP on a Symphony platform and with an AngularJS front end.

We are a small startup, and that’s a small team, so basically everyone is doing a bit of everything. They are in charge of whatever it take in regards to technical implementation. They take care of the design and quality assurance as well. We do have a designer here in-house, but they need to make a lot of the decisions locally, so I would call them part-time designers as well.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

I was looking for an outsourcing partner to develop this project, and I posted to Facebook. I started to interview teams because I needed to get a team, not just a single developer; I didn’t have time to handpick them one by one. KindGeek were the first ones who passed my interview.

How much have you invested with KindGeek?

I cannot disclose this information.

What is the status of this engagement?

The project is ongoing.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

As project management is my responsibility, I would say they are performing very well. The nature of our relations is agile-based, and I am the direct supervisor of my team. They are not providing me project management services. They are providing me bodies and minds. The way I organize them and put them to deadlines is my responsibility.

What did you find most impressive about KindGeek?

KindGeek knows what it takes to make a startup succeed. It was really easy to communicate with them from day one. And, they are a young and modern company, which I really like and appreciate.

Are there any areas KindGeek could improve?

They are growing pretty fast, and that speed of growth causes certain issues, but as they are actively working and improving, I don’t see it as a major problem.

The team strives to meet deadlines in the shortest time possible and often works long hours to complete a task. They foster a dedicated relationship and have been proven trustworthy partners.
""KindGeek always does everything they can to get it done."
"

**BACKGROUND**
Please describe your organization.

We connect people who have struggles with their phones with technicians on the ground. We are working across the United States at 20 locations with around 400 technicians on the ground.

What is your position?

I am an R&D [research and development] officer.

**OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE**
What business challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?

We were looking to build a mobile app for our business. When we started to think about an outsourcing company for our needs, we actually had trouble hiring good quality programmers here in Israel, so we then decided to offshore the work.

**SOLUTION**
Please describe the scope of their involvement in detail.

KindGeek was involved in the development of our mobile app. It's full stack, which means we have a web front-end, back-end algorithm, and mobile developer. KindGeek takes care of all development. The decisions, planning, and design we are doing in-house. The execution and the actual writing of the code is done there.

Everything actually starts from the technology stack. Since we chose [a group in] Ukraine as our development team, it was easy for us to find PHP developers and iOS developers – part of them are Android, too. In our organization, we have  team leaders here in Israel, and the developers are in Ukraine. We decided to make a dedicated team that is controlled from here, but everything is done there in Ukraine. We are doing a lot of PHP and Node.js. All the back-end, front-end, and mobile development is done there.

How did you come to work with KindGeek?

Since I speak Russian, the guys there speak English, and there is a lot of good professional skill that we found in the company, we decided to go with them. We had three companies involved at first, and we decided the guys from KindGeek were the best for us.

What is the status of this engagement?

KindGeek acts as our home base. We will continue working with them. We are going to increase the team. We have two R&D centers: one here in Israel with mostly team leaders, architects, and so on, and the working hands in Ukraine. They have good engineers, and we are satisfied, so it's going to last at least one year.

**RESULTS & FEEDBACK**
Could you share any statistics or metrics from this engagement?

Everything is working great. We had results after two weeks working with KindGeek. Our first version of the website went out after two weeks.

How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?

We don't need them as project managers because we use KindGeek as a dedicated team. We have our team leaders here who are in charge to schedule and control everything. We have dealt only with developers who are controlled by team leaders. It is part of the job of team leaders to control and give them tasks internally.

When you plan it correctly, then you can expect the team will meet the deadline. Sometimes, they do it successfully and sometimes not. However, what I can say is that they did try to get results in the shortest time possible. For example, two days ago [July 2016], we were working until 2 a.m. because we had deadlines, and we just finished. When something has to be done, it's doable. KindGeek always does everything they can to get it done.

What distinguishes KindGeek from other providers?

There's always struggles and there's always problems. However, you can always figure out how to work it. This is a major part of our partnership with KindGeek. We have great communication with KindGeek. We trust KindGeek, and when they say something, they mean it. The trust in our partnership is the more that I can expect from the company that I'm working with them. I trust them – that's it.

Is there anything KindGeek could have improved or done differently?

I'm not sure if they can do it, but the problem is that I think they are using a very specific stack of technology – PHP. They're working with tools on the back-end, on the databases, and on the front-end. Sometimes, when I want to implement a different stack, it's hard because they're mostly oriented on PHP stack. Maybe they have a few Java developers, but usually just one. Sometimes, for not real big issues, I have to ask them to find someone who can develop some algorithms in a different language. It's hard for them to find relevant programmers to do it, but we work it out.

Results:
Besides, Grafter provides 3 different solution options so businesses of any size can use it depending on their requirements.

- subscription-based “enterprise solution” that grants a whole spectre of options to manage a higher volume of Grafters with multiple business users.
The “bespoke solution” that grants a set of software interfaces and services in addition to the regular Grafter user experience.
