Kind Geek developed a code base for a web-based application that consolidates a variety of healthcare information.
The developed code base serves as a good foundation for future development. While collaboration could have been more effective, Kind Geek did a successful job of building a relationship based on trust. They excel at adapting to resource restraints.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this

BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the CEO and founder of a healthcare platform. We try to improve patients’ experience with healthcare services in Africa. The platform would connect with the patient from the moment they see a general practitioner all the way to the moment they come out of the hospital and get their medication. It’ll serve as a central repository for clinical information and clinical processes.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with Kind Geek?
One of the biggest challenges is that healthcare services aren’t coordinated in Africa. There’s no coordination or one point of contact for a patient. We want to integrate and bring all the stakeholders and the delivery of healthcare services to the patient under one platform. Kind Geek has been helping to build the web app for the platform, and the mobile app will be done in house.
We are very particular in terms of the problem we’re trying to solve. It’s an African problem that needs a solution that’s created by Africans with context and experience.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Kind Geek has completed our first phase of development by creating a code base. Technologies used include Java and PHP.
Platform features include a patient profile of electronic medical records, the doctor’s profile, booking systems, and referral systems. There’s also a functionality that tracks patient cases through the healthcare system.
What is the team composition?
I had a main contact point, and we also worked with the CEO, Elena (Marketing Manager, Kind Geek), and another employee.
How did you come to work with Kind Geek?
They were referred from a friend who had worked with them before and had a good experience with them.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested around $150,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started talking with Kind Geek in December 2017, and we started building in February 2018 or March 2018. They handed over their work in May 2019.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
They did a good job of giving us a product that we can continue to tweak in house.
How did Kind Geek perform from a project management standpoint?
I would say they managed the project well. However, their location in Ukraine has been a challenge. It was tough to communicate with them in English, and we probably needed more time to communicate face-to-face. We use Slack, Jira, and Bitbucket.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They have a good understanding of what startup environments require. They were cooperative when challenges arose, and they didn’t pressure us for answers. There was an element of trust between us.
Are there any areas they could improve?
They could focus more on long-term scalability and the larger problems associated with the projects. They could put more effort into figuring out what the client needs beyond just the coded solution. It would be beneficial if they could offer advice about how to offer a platform for the future, not just a platform for the present.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Future clients should spend more time with them and ideally be located close to them so they can iron out ideas better.

KindGeek developed the proof of concept for a personal blockchain wallet. They provide sketches and design the UX, and currently help answer questions for potential investors.
The extremely detailed POC has been well-received. Despite the time-zone differences, KindGeek kept the project moving through their consistent communication and responsiveness. They accept constructive input well, but also bring creative ideas of their own to the table at a reasonable value.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m CEO of a company that I formed with two partners. We create solutions in the blockchain space.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?
We hired KindGeek to do discovery and scoping for a blockchain platform. It will allow individual users to have their own personal blockchain wallet. It will also house their personal data so they can provide it to third parties.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
KindGeek went through the scoping process with us. They created the design and UX for the platform. They produced designs and sketches to serve as a proof of concept (POC). It's bleeding edge technology. We’ll use the POC to validate that the way the data is facilitated, processed, and shared in the blockchain actually works.
The full development of the platform requires larger outside investment. We're working on that now. When we raise those funds, we plan to work with KindGeek to build out the entire platform. Currently they're helping us answer questions from investors.
What is the team composition?
We work closely with Anton (CEO, KindGeek) and Yuri (COO, KindGeek). Roxie (Business Analyst, KindGeek) is our primary project manager. She coordinates the calls with the designers or developers, depending on what we need at any given time. We actually went over to their office in Ukraine for a week, where we probably worked with 20 people.
How did you come to work with KindGeek?
We contacted a third-party firm who connected us with potential partners. We interviewed about a dozen firms, both here in the US and abroad, before selecting KindGeek.
How much have you invested with them?
All told, we’ve spent around $23,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
Work started in September 2018 and the engagement is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
KindGeek is fantastic. They were able to get our very abstract concepts drilled down to an extreme level of detail. They did a great job mapping out the way data will flow on the platform. They've delivered as far as our funding allows, and they've delivered exactly what we wanted. KindGeek pushes us to consider many options and alternatives, never leaving any stone unturned.
How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?
Their team is outstanding. There’s never a time where we felt they missed something. They’re super organized, involved, and responsive. There’s a 6–7 hour time difference but they work with our schedule. We do early morning calls before myself and my partners go to our day jobs. I really like how responsive they are. I can email them at any time of the day and they'll write back. One of my partners serves as our technical lead. They use Google Docs and Trello to manage the project, and Jira for issue tracking.
What did you find most impressive about them?
KindGeek’s team are so skilled at what they do. Their people are really bright. I've worked with a lot of development firms and I put them in the top 2–3. They also rank high in their ability to work until they find a solution. There's some uncertainty anytime I work with companies outside the US. They’re excellent in terms of language skills and schedule flexibility. The only difference between working with them and development shops in New York and San Francisco is that KindGeek is much more affordable.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I've shared with them that their estimation of how long tasks will take needs improvement. Parts of the project took longer than they initially anticipated. Some of it was our fault because we didn’t have everything fleshed out before we started.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Don't be afraid to let them lead. They have really good ideas and can provide a roadmap of where your project should go. You might know the business scenario but there's always a gap between the concept and the UX. KindGeek has the diligence to make sure that every scenario is planned for.

KindGeek developed the web-based frontend of a SaaS product that exposes application APIs to users.
They successfully completed the development exactly according to internal requirements. KindGeek has a keen ability to adapt to internal workflows, tools, and changing circumstances. They are a thoughtful, responsive team.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I work at Conmigo, a telecommunications company in the pay TV industry. Through advanced AI techniques, we gain a deeper understanding of the content and the viewer, which enables a new experience. The techniques involve extracting entities of interest, tagging and enriching data, and then putting the information into a content library that enables streaming.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?
We brought on KindGeek to develop the frontend of a SaaS product based on our product definitions.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
KindGeek developed a web frontend for our SaaS solution. The solution allows users to view APIs, which are mainly applications of paid TV providers running on a variety of platforms (e.g. satellite boxes, mobile, PC, or tablet). This evaluation tool allows potential customers to evaluate the Conmigo solution by seeing how it functions.
What is the team composition?
We worked with two developers in total. The first web developer was excellent, but he had to leave due to health issues. KindGeek ensured a smooth transition while bringing on another developer to take his place. He picked up where the other developer left off without any issues.
How did you come to work with KindGeek?
We heard about KindGeek through one of our employees.
How much have you invested with them?
We’ve invested between $10,000 and $50,000 with the team.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working together in January 2018, and the engagement ended in May 2019.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I am quite pleased with their work. They accomplished the solution according to our exact requirements.
How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?
If there were any issues, they attentively fixed the problem in a timely matter. They adjusted well to our workflow and our internal project management tools. We used Slack for internal communication and Jira for task planning. The developer felt like a part of our team.
What did you find most impressive about them?
They always sought out additional ways to support internal stakeholders. Since our work week lasts Sunday through Thursday, they were available to help us on Sundays.
Are there any areas they could improve?
I can’t think of anything they could improve on.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I recommend working with KindGeek.

KindGeek provides UI design services for a SaaS financial services company. They created screen mockups, data hierarchies, and showed how different flows should work.
Their designs have received positive feedback from key internal stakeholders. KindGeek inspired confidence throughout the project by communicating clearly from the start about their team's capabilities. Responsiveness and high-quality deliverables contribute to the imminent expansion of their role.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
Finvoice started four years ago as an online lender. Two years ago, we pivoted into a SaaS company selling loan and factoring software to banks and nonbank lenders.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?
We have a core product that we sell to smaller clients, mainly nonbank lenders and very small banks. While in the process of responding to an RFP from a large bank, we got advanced to the next stage. That next stage was an eight hour meeting at their headquarters with 30 senior bankers. We realized our core product needed to be ramped up to be more enterprise grade. We needed to add a lot of different features in a short amount of time. We had only three and a half weeks before the actual meeting. It was a bit of a scramble to beef up the product, which is why we needed help.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
After the initial call, KindGeek let us know they don't have the in-house capabilities to actually code our project because we're using a language that's somewhat obsolete. They recommended a specific development shop to do the coding and offered to take responsibility for their work.
KindGeek focuses on UI design. It’s a mix of features such as report generators, workflow management tools, and access definition tools. In addition to creating mockups of screens, they come up with how different flows should work as well as data hierarchies.
What is the team composition?
Initially, we started with a large team. When it became clear that the scope of the project was changing, we shifted our work mainly to Nazar (UI/UX Designer KindGeek). They assigned us a project manager at the start. Their CEO also provided some consulting services.
How did you come to work with KindGeek?
Our CTO heard from a friend that KindGeek would be a good fit.
What is the status of this engagement?
Work started in March 2019 and the engagement is ongoing. They're not actively doing any work, but we told them we want to continue working with them once we further develop our roadmap.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
We don't know yet if we won the RFP process. What we do know is we'd stand much less of a chance without KindGeek. We didn't have the time to expand the product the way that they did. We basically went from no chance to win to actually have a chance. Internally, we’re pleased with their designs. The quality of the work is high. In the beginning, I checked everything extensively. By the end, I could trust them to always deliver quality designs.
How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?
Their project manager didn't have much to do because we only worked directly with one designer. Nazar was quite useful in managing the other development shop that they recommended. He helped get them up to speed. Because that shop is based in Ukraine, he answered a lot of their questions so I didn’t have to deal with the time difference. We had weekly calls and used Slack for basic conversations. We used Asana for specific tasks and used Google Docs or Google Sheets to manage timelines and documentation.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The CEO's willingness to provide free consultation was great. He’s really responsive and has a lot of experience in technology. He recommended what we should do in the future and what languages we should use. Their honesty is also impressive. I'm sure many companies would take the money for the coding work even if they didn't have the right expertise. KindGeek was upfront about not being able to provide the quality we needed in our particular language. It was very professional that they offered to take responsibility for the quality of the other shop’s work. The biggest thing with working with external development shops is whether you can trust their motivations. KindGeek is so solid, and we feel quite comfortable working with them going forward.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Don’t underestimate the amount of ramp-up time an external development shop needs. Be granular in how you describe tasks and specific features of your build. Otherwise, you'll get something back that you probably don't want that. Focus on details up front and it will go smoothly.

KindGeek provides web application development services for a technology startup. The application features a JavaScript- and React-based frontend with Java Spring Boot and MariaDB in the backend.
KindGeek’s backend developers have made steady progress toward achieving objectives, but the frontend developers occasionally need more direction. The team has a sufficient understanding of the required technology, but reasonable testing practices sometimes go by the wayside.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I am the CEO of a technology startup.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?
I engaged KindGeek to develop an updated version of my company’s web application.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
It’s my goal to have the new application mimic its predecessor in terms of UI as well as possible. To accomplish this, I write the specifications and rely on KindGeek’s team to write the code. The application’s frontend utilizes JavaScript and React, and the backend features Java Spring Boot and MariaDB.
What is the team composition?
In addition to a team coordinator, I generally work with one frontend developer and one backend developer.
How did you come to work with KindGeek?
I learned of KindGeek through an organization’s website that lists similar vendors in Ukraine. I reviewed a few different companies, but KindGeek offered the best price and fostered the best initial connection.
How much have you invested with them?
I’ve spent about $4,000 each month, so close to $20,000 total so far.
What is the status of this engagement?
We began working in December 2018, and the project is ongoing.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
To this point, I’ve seen greater progress from the backend developers. The frontend staffer sticks to the script but doesn’t exhibit much creativity. I have to be very direct in what to do and how to do it. In my experience, this problem is not specific to KindGeek, but the frontend developers tend to understand the technologies yet offer little on the creative side, so there’s a fair amount of hand-holding.
How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?
I’m in direct daily contact with the developers. We have an efficient system that allows me to test the product and provide feedback for them to implement. For a while, when they dedicated more resources to the project, we held weekly meetings.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I’ve worked with several similar companies, so this is not specific to KindGeek, but all of the firms I’ve worked with run together and are rather generic. Finding a differentiator is tough. The senior members of the team have a good understanding of the technology, but the junior members need some guidance.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The team should grow to recognize that they must test the code before it is delivered. And when it comes to the UI/UX, some of my directions in GitLab go unheard. We have tasks go back and forth a couple of times before they get it right.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
I would insist on a project leader of some sort to hold the developers accountable, and I would recommend a thorough vetting process of a UX/UI developer.

Building from scratch, KindGeek developed a web platform in React integrating calendar and payment features.
Early user feedback is positive on both design and functionality. Excellent project management was characterized by consistent follow-up and on-time delivery. KindGeek’s commitment, reliability, and precision contribute to high client satisfaction.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the co-founder of a startup with a digital peer-to-peer marketplace.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?
We needed a production partner to develop the software for our project.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
KindGeek developed our web platform from scratch in React, building the frontend and the creating the backend logic. The platform that allows users to create profiles for clients to book personal shopping trips with them. There’s a calendar function to view availability and Stripe is integrated for automatic payments.
They started with the discovery phase, listening to our needs and coming up with suggestions for how to shape our idea into a compelling product. Following that initial phase, we started analyzing features. We went live in October. We’re still fixing bugs, continuously improving features, and updating, but the platform is up and running.
What is the team composition?
Our main contract at the beginning was the CEO. Then we worked with a full-time business analyst. We had a time-and-materials contract so our teams were composed on-demand when we needed specific resources rather than having a dedicated team. At peak times we worked with two frontend developers, two backend developers, a Q&A person, and a lead architect.
How did you come to work with KindGeek?
We were looking for a partner in Ukraine since we’d heard that there were competent options there with attractive pricing. We did some internet research and found KindGeek. We set up a call with the CEO and browsed the sites of their clients. We spotted a Swiss startup they had worked with and asked them for a reference. We only heard positive feedback so decided to give them a try. We used the discovery phase as a test and they convinced us.
We had looked at a handful of other companies. We initially spent a couple of months working with an Indian company, which didn’t work out. We also compared some Swiss development partners that were closer in proximity to us. However, in terms of the quality and the price, KindGeek outperformed all of those.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from March to October 2018.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
I primarily have qualitative feedback on the UI and UX of our website. We hear positive feedback from early users that the design is appealing and they find the platform intuitive and straightforward. We’re extremely satisfied.
How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?
We communicate via Slack and have calls through Google Hangouts. We use Jira as well as Sketch for design.
Our deadline had been set from the beginning as we had an important pitch event here in Switzerland for which we promised to have our product ready. They managed to meet that. They follow up on tasks and complete them with precision.
Our business analyst was outstanding in terms of communications and punctuality. Without her, I'm not sure we would be where we are today. Project management was really the best part of our experience. This was thanks primarily to our business analyst but my experience when I visited them confirmed their commitment and reliability to me.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The overall atmosphere when I visited was very welcoming. I could be sure that the people I met were the ones working on our project. That gave me a good feeling in the sense that I knew what was happening and what I was spending my money on.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We had a very limited budget and, in the beginning, it was hard to agree on the cost estimate with them for the exact scope that we could squeeze into that budget. Since then, they’ve managed well and we’ve stayed on track with the budget. It took us a while to define what was in and what was out in terms of features, but the final cost estimate was precise and we haven’t overspent or underspent.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
One of the most important things for me was spending a week at their office. I like to know the people that I work with. Our level of collaboration was heightened afterward because we talked to each other, we knew each other and we understood each other. I highly recommend making a visit.

The platform worked flawlessly and attracted many visitors and sales. Since KindGeek delivered ahead of schedule, they could fine-tune the product and add advanced features. Their broad knowledge, attention to detail, and commitment to excellent customer service set them apart.

client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I'm the former project manager of a mattress startup.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?
We were a young startup trying to bring our product to market quickly and efficiently. We needed to develop the online website and a customized product configurator.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
Our website focused on customized mattresses based on the idea that one size doesn't fit all. Our team created a special questionnaire that asked the right amount of questions to help customers pick the mattress they needed. KindGeek helped us create and customize the web platform's design and user experience, and set up our inventory management using Magento.
Initially, we shared some basic files with them as rough sketches for the platform, and they came up with different design options. This allowed us to test the waters and see whether they fully understood our request. We liked all the options they provided and chose one as the prototype.
What is the team composition?
Five people worked on the platform, including a project manager, requirements engineer, developers, and designers. Additionally, we were in touch with three managers.
How did you come to work with KindGeek?
A friend recommended them. We considered many companies before KindGeek. They impressed me because they prepared a professional proposal in an extremely short time.
How much have you invested in them?
We invested around $20,000.
What is the status of this engagement?
We worked together from August to December 2016.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The most important thing was launching everything properly and quickly. They did this earlier than we expected, which allowed us to spend the last months polishing the product and adding features. Having everything work was crucial to bringing in online sales. Everything worked better than we expected, and we attracted many new customers.
We were happy with the depth at which they understood the project, their attention to detail, and their commitment to providing the best possible experience.
How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?
Project management was one of their strong points. I mostly contacted one of their stakeholders and the project manager, and was happy with both interactions. They were flexible about communication tools, letting me choose the most convenient ones. We used Facebook messenger, Skype, and phone calls.
What did you find most impressive about them?
The team was helpful and positive. They went beyond the contract and truly wanted us to succeed. It was inspiring to see that they cared about us more than they were obliged to. Everything went smoothly and comfortably. It was extraordinary.
Our experience with KindGeek was mainly good because of their culture. They didn't just provide a paid service; they also helped our product and company grow. We got additional value from their knowledge and experience. It was a win-win situation.
Do you have any advice for potential customers?
Contact them and discuss the project to form your own opinion. You'll see who they are and how they approach customers.

KindGeek augmented an existing development team to create the frontend of a website that included several integrations with server-side APIs and third parties, as well as a location-specific search function.
KindGeek delivered on time, and the site has garnered positive feedback from both the end client and users. The team was professional in interacting with the end client directly and effectively managed change requests. The leadership team went above and beyond to ensure the success of the project.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I work for a software development company that primarily works with US-based clients in industries such as education, healthcare, and marketing.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?
We were facing a very tight deadline in completing a complex project for an end client in the education space last summer. We needed a well-built solution that included not only content, but also several more complex features like location-specific search functionality. To meet the deadline, we decided to hire a team that could help us with development while taking a professional approach to interfacing with the client directly.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
KindGeek was instrumental in the process of building a frontend solution that met all requirements, while the end client provided us with the backend infrastructure to complete the website. The frontend was primarily based in Angular 4 and related CSS. Key features included integrations with server-side APIs provided by the client that pushed updated content for display on the site, as well as integrations with several other third-party services for features like registration and sign-off. We also needed to provide some functionality around exporting data, and they built the frontend for that integration as well.
What is the team composition?
We worked with a project manager and about four developers throughout the project. We also worked with a project manager assistant when necessary.
How did you come to work with KindGeek?
I was referred to them by one of my clients who had worked with them previously.
How much have you invested with them?
We invested approximately $50,000 on the project.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working together in July 2017, and development was complete in March 2018.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The site was launched successfully within the required timelines. According to the client, the project was well-received by staff and successfully facilitates the enrollment process.
How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?
They were very professional in meetings with the client. They were able to follow up and manage all tasks to not only finish on time, but also to keep the project organized. The team communicated clearly throughout the engagement.
The team did their absolute best to accommodate last-minute changes on the client side while still working within the original timeline. They also communicated in advance about any employee absences or changes to resource allocation. We used Slack, Jira, and Bitbucket to support collaboration and development efforts.
What did you find most impressive about them?
KindGeek is an extremely professional team. They’ve built a well-supported team that balances quality of work with excellent project management. They worked with our client very productively. As opposed to many other firms in the software development industry, KindGeek looks at the bigger picture in their projects. This includes attention to delivery times, quality control, and their overall relationship with the client, rather than simply looking to turn around assignments.
Also, the management team at KindGeek is extremely committed. They were willing to communicate and work with me after hours, and they were dedicated to seeing the project completed successfully. The company is run by people that really care about their work, and we would certainly consider working with them again on future projects.
Are there any areas they could improve?
The only challenges we faced came up on the client side. Things naturally get complicated when there are rapid incoming change requests, but they did all they could to stay on top of those requests. Overall, they have a very strong team.
Any advice for potential customers?
Make sure to communicate in advance the exact time requirements that you need availability from the development team. This project’s success was partially due to setting expectations in the very beginning. Clarify project requirements and get an idea of who you’ll be working with before starting the engagement.

KindGeek helped create a Python-based platform by developing a machine learning component. To do this, they analyzed and categorized data sets. They also provide ongoing software support and development.
They built out a platform’s defining feature and are responsible for measurably increasing company revenue. KindGeek consists of talented individuals that are committed to delivering high-quality products. Executive level-engagement ensures frequent communication and a collaborative experience.
A Clutch analyst personally interviewed this
client over the phone. Below is an edited
transcript.
BACKGROUND
Introduce your business and what you do there.
I’m the founder and CEO of an IT firm. We’re developing a sales automation platform for real estate developers.
OPPORTUNITY / CHALLENGE
What challenge were you trying to address with KindGeek?
We needed a software development company to improve the machine learning aspect of our platform. The technology would help us predict what properties would most interest clients.
SOLUTION
What was the scope of their involvement?
KindGeek helped create our AngularJS web application by working on the matching mechanism within our Python-based machine learning engine. Together, we applied a distant supervision approach to analyze data sets of properties and people. We used another component to categorize them simultaneously. This methodology was part of KingGeek’s original proposal. They also set up in-app analytics to measure the value of different components.
This project took 4–5 months to complete. However, they continually support and improve the platform as it evolves. Their team is proactively involved in the development process. If something doesn’t work as expected, they respond to user feedback and make the necessary changes.
What is the team composition?
We worked with a team that included their CEO, a project manager, a team lead, a business analyst, and three developers. They later allocated two developers to work with us on an ongoing basis.
How did you come to work with KindGeek?
They were referred to us by a colleague. He was satisfied with KindGeek’s work and made the introduction. The founders of KindGeek helped us figure out the process and ensured that everything would go smoothly. We assigned each person a role and started development as soon as possible.
How much have you invested with them?
The initial project cost around $140,000–$150,000. They currently charge us an hourly rate as they perform tasks. The total cost is usually between $5,000 and $10,000 per month.
What is the status of this engagement?
We started working with KindGeek in July 2017. The main project was completed in October 2017, but they’re continuing to develop the platform as we have future releases scheduled.
RESULTS & FEEDBACK
What evidence can you share that demonstrates the impact of the engagement?
The machine learning functionally they built out is our platform’s main feature. Our profits have improved significantly since the original engagement with them. I can’t estimate the precise impact of KindGeek’s work, but it’s served as the basis of our product and is responsible for the biggest part of our revenue stream.
How did KindGeek perform from a project management standpoint?
Our assigned project manager stayed in touch with us the whole time. Anton (CEO, KindGeek) and Yurii (Full-stack Developer, KindGeek) followed up with us frequently to ask if everything was okay. Despite being located in Ukraine, they attended our daily scrum meetings and rarely missed deadlines. If they deliver something late, it’s usually because we changed the project at the last minute. We had a shared Jira account and used Bitbucket as a repository. Some of their team leads and project managers were also invited to our Slack channel.
What did you find most impressive about them?
I had some initial concerns about whether this collaboration was the best decision for our company. My team worried that giving the project to an outsourcing company might jeopardize the work they’ve done. We needed a dedicated development team that would be passionate about our project. Luckily, the KindGeek team fit that description. We felt like they were an extension of our team.
Are there any areas they could improve?
We’ve needed to make some changes, but that was our problem. We’re continuing to work with them, so I don’t have any significant suggestions.
Do you have any advice for future clients of theirs?
They work well with startup companies. No matter the situation, it’s important for clients to fully understand what needs to be achieved when starting a project.
